Recuperation

It was the start of another day in the town of Domino. Yugi and his friends had been taking the time to recuperate after their last adventure. They certainly needed it after everything they went through. Of course, they still had their regular routines of school and work, so there wasn't really always an opportune time for the heroes to rest, but they were still able to make the most of it.

Next door from the game shop, Emily removed the cast over her left arm. Several days ago, she was severely injured and had to wear a cast over her arm so it could heal. Now she figured since it had been more than a week, she could take the cast off. Emily stretched her arm out and flexed her fingers. There was no soreness. But to be safe, Emily decided to use her healing magic. She used a spell called Cure Water and her other hand produced a remedial water for healing injuries. She applied the water on her arm, rubbing it and soothing it.

Gatomon saw this and figured, "Looks like you're all healed up."

"Looks that way," Emily replied. "At least I won't have to worry about everyone at school crowding me and asking me what happened. That was a nuisance." A lot of the students tried asking Emily what happened and why she was wearing a cast and if she was all right. She tried to plainly answer that she got into a fight and she sustained some injuries while trying to defend herself, but many of her classmates pressured her for more details. Yugi and the others even had to intervene, telling them to leave Emily alone and that she didn't want to talk about it.

Emily picked up her backpack. She didn't want to keep Yugi waiting. "I'll see you when I get home," she said to Gatomon.

"Okay," the cat Digimon replied. "Have a good day."

"Thanks, Gatomon. I love you." The blonde gently pets her partner and kisses her. Then she steps out of her house and locks the front door.

At the same time, Yugi stepped out of the game shop. He and Emily greet each other and begin walking to school together. The two of them were certainly glad that they were next door neighbors. One of the convenient benefits of it was being able to walk to school together. Of course, they both had their own personal reasons. For Emily, being around Yugi made her feel safe. And after what happened during their last adventure, she certainly didn't feel safe being on her own whenever she was going somewhere.

Yugi understood her feelings. Even he didn't think it was safe of Emily to be on her own for the same reasons. True, everything happened in a different world and this world is safe, but they were both totally traumatized from almost losing each other. Yugi also knew that Emily could take care of herself, but he didn't mind being an escort. Emily didn't mind either. In fact, the two of them always appreciated each other's company.

Téa caught up with the two neighbors. "Hey, guys. I hope I didn't keep you waiting."

"You didn't," Yugi and Emily said in unison. Now that Téa was here, they felt even more safe and happy. Of course, the three of them always felt this way whenever they walked to school together.

Téa noticed Emily's arm and asked, "How's your arm feeling, Emily?"

"Much better," the blonde answered. "That means I can go back to work." Emily had difficulty working at the bakery with an injured arm. As such, her managers Andrew and Andrea decided to let her take time off so she could heal.

"For now, why don't we just focus on getting through the rest of the week?" Yugi suggested. The girls agreed. It really would be best to just take it one day at a time.

By the time they reached the school gate, Joey and Tristan arrived at the same time. Now that the whole gang was present, they could get to their first class.

It actually hasn't been easy for Yugi or any of his friends to concentrate on their studies since they came home last week. Because of this, they often needed to ask for help and clarification from their fellow students and peers. They weren't forgetting the material. They just often had trouble focusing because their minds would sometimes be on other things; mostly the other worlds and how their other friends from those worlds were doing. Having trouble concentrating can also come from juggling school life and work life and even hero work. Even so, Yugi and his friends couldn't help being distracted by often thinking about their last adventure as well as wonder what would happen now or in the future.

Yugi and his friends weren't failing or falling behind. They were able to relearn anything they forgot and still be able to work on their assignments. It actually made them feel good and was able to help take their minds off of their worries in some ways.

At lunch, the heroes began discussing the matter at hand. Yugi was the first to speak up. "I've been thinking," he began, "we should probably rally up all of the heroes from the other worlds and have another council meeting."

"Council meeting?" Téa asked.

"It's something we just recently formed," Emily was saying.

"While we were making our rounds in the Pure Valley, we found this hidden cave that leads to a secret council room," Joey interrupted. "Now all of the heroes from all of the worlds we've been to can assemble and we can all have meetings about what goes on in the other worlds and how we can help each other keep our worlds safe."

"That sounds awesome," said Tristan. Téa agreed.

"Téa, Tristan, you guys should be part of the council," Emily suggested.

Joey agreed. "You guys are heroes too; heroes of this world."

"More importantly, we're all a team, so that makes it all the more reason," Emily added.

Yugi nodded. "Our team isn't complete without you guys."

Téa and Tristan eagerly accepted. "They had been telling the others the same thing over the years. Plus, they didn't want to miss out on any more adventures. Though they were both aware that there would be possible danger, Téa and Tristan never let it stop them before and they weren't about to let this be any different.

And like Yugi, Emily, and Joey pointed out, Tristan and Téa were part of the team. It didn't matter that they weren't really warriors of Millennia. They had helped out on many occasions here in their own world and even in some of the other worlds. And the two brunettes wanted to keep being there for their friends no matter what.

With that being settled, Yugi decided he would call Kaiba later this afternoon, then they could schedule a time when they would have a council meeting.
