Chapter One:
A Bite on The Beach
The full moon danced across the sky, casting a pale light upon the island, as the waves rolled in and the stars twinkled in a gorgeous fashion. A lone red-tentacled Octoling sat back upon the beach by a palm tree, wearing a black crop top and tight short shorts. Her bare toes sank into the sand, and her hands rested behind her head.
Skarlet felt at peace, she didn't have to worry about making plans or dealing with any traitorous Octolings. Ink Tide Island felt like the most incredible getaway out of all the islands on this Earth.
And she was enjoying every second of her night on the beach, soaking in the moon, and she wasn't alone in her enjoyment of paradise.
The shapely Octoling heard a deep chuckle from nearby, but she ignored it, her eyes were closed and resting as she lay still in the sand. Skarlet couldn't even resist spending an evening on the beach, but as long as nobody interrupted it. She had a good vacation so far, aside from losing a ball game to her boyfriend.
Just then, something landed on her, hitting Skarlet's midriff. Her yellow-red eyes opened and she looked down, seeing a beach ball rest on her stomach for a moment before it rolled off.
"Sorry about that, Skarlet." The half-gravely voice of Octo-Duke said as he came over to pick up the ball, "Thought you might be in the mood for another game."
Unbeknownst to her or that tank top-clad Nukem-like Octoling, a shadow was observing, it flew through the air and dove into the nearest pair of bushes behind a palm tree. Even in the moonlight, the ominous entity was swift to ensure that its prey never spotted them. It had been here on the island for some time, preparing to strike at any moment.
"We played enough beach ball, Duke." Skarlet told him, "Go play by yourself, I just want to enjoy the tropical air."
"C'mon, babe. Are you still upset that I beat you? Don't be such a sore loser." Octo-Duke said with a sweet smile, he put aside the ball and took Skarlet's hand.
"I'm not a sore loser." Skarlet said in a half-yell, "I'm just not interested. Maybe tomorrow."
"You want to go swimming then? Maybe take a dip in the hot tub? Or we can make a sand castle for us to spend the night in..." Octo-Duke grinned at his girlfriend as he slowly looped his hands around her legs, "I have so many ideas..."
"I have so many ideas too, you handsome Octo-boy." Skarlet whispered half-playfully in his ear.
Octo-Duke grinned, then his hands cupped the back of his girlfriend's legs, and he lifted up Skarlet right off her feet. Skarlet gasped with surprise, then she smiled and looped her feet around Octo-Duke's torso while she stroked his cheek in a gentle, but suggestive manner.
"Looks like someone's up for some fun after all." Octo-Duke grinned, cupping Skarlet's womanly Octoling hips.
Skarlet looped her arm around the charismatic Octoling, then she licked her lips, and leaned over Octo-Duke's shoulder before whispering; "How about we have some fun on the beach, big boy?"
Her legs locked around his waist and Octo-Duke was ready. Skarlet read his mind and cupped his face, pulling him into a very tight kiss. Octo-Duke moved forth to meet her, kissing the slender Octoling chick on the cheek before connecting lips with hers in their most steamy make-out session yet as they hit the sand.
'Time to reel in the babe.' Octo-Duke thought as he playfully slapped Skarlet upon her firm cheeks.
'Time for a late night snack.' Skarlet thought, stroking Octo-Duke's pecs.
The sturdy Octoling boy leaned over, kissing Skarlet's neck, and Skarlet licked the back of his ear in a teasing manner. They locked lips again and their tongues cut loose. Just then, something swept over them, and a chill went up Octo-Duke's back as he pulled away. Skarlet's eyes widened, and her gaze shifted from her boyfriend's sweet eyes.
"I think someone's spying on us, Duke." Skarlet said nervously.
"Funny. I was thinking the same too." Octo-Duke remarked as he stood up, "And folks said this island is a mosquito-free, 100% tropical, 0% dangerous paradise. I have a bad feeling about this."
Skarlet stood, wiping some sand off her shorts, and glancing around uneasily. "You think we should head back to the hotel?" She asked.
Octo-Duke whipped out a Splat-Blaster and turned away from Skarlet, looking around the beach with a scowl, "We're not alone here, and it feels as if fun time may be put on hold until I kick ass."
"AH!"
Hearing Skarlet's scream, Octo-Duke wheeled around and his heart pounded as he absorbed the horrifying scene unfolding before the dark, but heroic Octoling boy's eyes; a purple-haired squid in a dark dress with eerie purple eyes, biting into Skarlet's neck with fangs sharper than a regular Inkling or Octoling's teeth.
The strange entity's hands were grasped on Skarlet's arms, and the womanly Octoling gulped. Compared to being hit in the head by a Sea Snail, being bit by a creature that looked like an Inkling/Octoling was not pleasant, and she was starting to feel funny.
Octo-Duke raised his blaster and the creature retreated as small drops of ink squirted from Skarlet's bitten neck. The female Octoling looked at Octo-Duke with tears rolling down her cheeks, her knees shook and she reached out a hand towards her boyfriend.
"D-Duke..." Skarlet whimpered.
And that was all she said before she dropped to the ground, then she fainted and didn't say anything else. Octo-Duke looked down at Skarlet's limp body with dread, then he faced the creature that had harmed her, and it stared back at him with menacing purple eyes.
"You stinking bitch..." Octo-Duke growled, he leveled his weapon at the creature furiously, "You're going to pay for what you just did to my girlfriend. Its time to kick your ass and I don't have any sweets to eat, but I can handle you and I'll teach you to hurt a babe on a beach night."
For a long minute, he stared intensely at his enemy, and the mysterious squid entity stared back at Octo-Duke as it licked its lips. Octo-Duke flashed a fierce frown and held his blaster firmly, preparing to fight as the light of the moon glowed upon the beach.
The intensity grew, his enemy wiggled its claws, and Octo-Duke's finger tapped the trigger. He leveled his gun a little more towards the head of the enemy, almost ready to fire. And then, the Vampire Squid lunged. It moved fast as lightning, and Octo-Duke's scream carried across the beach as Violet Vamp claimed another victim...
