Hey there, here is a new chapter of this fic that I have a soft spot for. I like DxD fanfics where Issei has a good friend where he can balance out his shit, one of the reasons of why A Devil Diamond is one of my favorites is because Josuke and Issei are such a good duo that makes thing really good. Besides in Canon Issei doesn't give a crap about his friends, he tossed them out once he got the girls and riches. Well, this is my take and at this point both boys have been turned but they don't know. Let's go on.

At the Hyodou residence.

Issei woke up in his bedroom feeling really tired. He didn't know what was going on, last thing he remembered was going on a date with Yuuma. However, he couldn't remember a thing from his date/

''Man, did I ended up acting like a fool or what?'' Asked him trying to remember the date.

He then tried to recall what happened, they went shopping, had some lunches, went to a fountain and then…nothing. Issei couldn't remember a thing after that, also he couldn't remember how he got back into his room when his last memory was being near a fountain with Yuuma.

''How did I got here?'' Asked him confused.

He decided to go check on Kaneki, maybe he knew what happened yesterday, he could then ask how his date went.

''Hey Kaneki! Do you remember what happened…yesterday?'' Asked Issei entering in his best friend room only to find completely empty.

The brown haired teen looked confused at that, Kanenki was always at his room in the weekends mornings, usually reading or writing, so not seeing him was confusing and alerting.

''What?'' Asked Issei confused.

Going to the kitchen Issei saw his dad drinking some coffee and he could see some baggy eyes.

''Dad?'' Asked Issei confused.

''Oh Issei, good morning son. Did you sleep well?'' Asked him.

''Yeah, say dad where is Kaneki? He is not in his room.'' Said Issei confused

The older man looked very sad now, just putting his cup of coffee in the counter and massaging his eyes.

''What happened?'' Asked Issei now scared.

''Issei, take a seat.'' Said Mr Hydou.

''No, tell me what happened!'' Said Issei now pissed.

Mr Hydou was afraid to tell this to his son, but Kaneki was the boy best friend and kind like a brother to him so he had to tell him straight.

''Kaneki has been caught in an accident.'' Said Mr Hydoou all serious.

The information shook Issei as he seat down.

''What?'' Asked him in horror.

''A pipe falled as he and his date where going back home, not only that but apparently there was a ghoul attack in the area as they found bite marks on him.'' Said Mr. Hyodou in horror.

Issei was shaking upon hearing that, images of his childhood and life with Kaneki flashed at his eyes as he just wonders if his best friend was ok.

''What happened next?!'' Asked Issei.

''The good news is that Kaneki is still alive, he lost a lot of blood, and some organs were damaged because of the attack, however his date was killed in the accident and apparently the ghoul escaped. There is a manhunt for the bastard who did this. Son of a bitch!'' Said Mr Hyodou crying.

Issei was trying to hold his tears, but he couldn't do it. Kaneki was always there for him, from the lowest to the high moments of his life, the idea of losing him was like losing a brother, hearing that in his first date he was attacked by a ghoul, almost killed and his date crushed by pipes would just scarred him for life. He couldn't even imagine what was going to happen to him after he woke up.

''Kaneki.'' Said him all emotional

At the hospital

Kaneki was finally waking up from what he would describe the worst dream of his entire life. He saw the light of this new room flashing towards him; however he could only see with one eye which freaked him out a bit.

''Where am I?'' Thought him.

''Oh my god Kaneki!'' Said Mrs Hyodou who was on a chair near his bed.

The teen saw his best friend mom as she hugged him very tight, Kaneki was just wondering if everything is ok.

''Everyone got so worried dear! We thought you were a goner! Thank God he listed to my prayers because you're alive!'' Said her in tears.

Kaneki was just in shock as he remembered what happened last night, almost being devoured by Rize and being saved at the last minute by falling pipes. He decided not to cause more stress with Mrs Hyodou, she was already a mess so it was best to be quiet.

A little later

After getting some water and getting his senses back Kaneki was just wondering if everything was going to be ok, he was a bit dizzy and seeing the scars on his body, that horrible night was real and he wanted to try to forget as best as he could, but he knew it would be really hard. At least Mrs Hyodou was there to keep him safe.

''Kaneki do you remember of what truly happen last night?'' Asked Mrs Hyodou.

''Kind of it. I just remember an attack and then…everything going black.'' Said him thinking of Rize and her attacking him.

The older woman hugged him in a very maternal way, he was glad that his best friend parents had a lot of affection for him, if he was all alone he didn't know what could have happened to him. Soon a doctor arrived at the room.

"So how are you feeling son?'' Asked him.

''I don't know. I guess I am still a bit shaken.'' Said Kaneki.

''Well, a ghoul attack isn't for the ones with weak heart. You managed to pull it off and survive, you are a tough boy. We had to what we could to save your life, it was a miracle what we did in the surgery, but your recovery is going on faster than we expected, you should be able to leave in a few days.'' Said the doctor.

The teen just had a sigh of relief, although he still felt a bit off, after a big surgery someone should stay in the hospital for a good amount of time and not after a few days.

While he was thinking about his current condition, he heard someone screaming his name.

''KANEKI!'' Scream Issei barging into the room as he was panting and catching up his breath.

''Issei?'' Asked Kaneki in shock.

''I heard of what happened. I didn't know…I just woke and…'' Said Issei all shaken but Kaneki went to calm him.

''Its ok, I don't blame you. I am doing fine.'' Said Kaneki with a smile.

''Are you sure!?'' Asked Issei.

''Yes, I am just a bit shaken and I am healing up as fast as I can. Taking out some heasches I am feeling fine.'' Said Kaneki.

The pervert just sighed in relief as he just took a seat near the bed.

''I am so relieved! I don't know what I would do without you man!'' Said Issei.

"Its ok, you have at least Matsuda and Motohoma.'' Said Kaneki.

''Yeah, they are cool but I know you for longer.'' Said Issei.

The doctor and mother just smiled at that, even after that horrible event Kaneki was reunited with his best friend, and he was feeling a lot better now.

''Well kid, you will still need to do some tests before being send home. However, in terms of the serious test you are pretty much free from them. Do you feel anything off at the moment?'' Asked the doctor.

''I feel normal, thanks for asking.'' Said him.

''Do you need anything?'' Asked the doctor.

''I think some food would be good.'' Said the teen feeling hungry.

''Oh sure. I will get that right away.'' Said the doctor.

"Issei I will go talk to the doctors. Keep some company to Kaneki.'' Said Mrs Hyodou.

"Sure mom.'' Said Issei.

As the doctor and mother left Issei looked at the sides and took out something out of his jacket.

''Do you want some of my magazines to pass time? Its hospital theme.'' Said him with a sleazy smile of always.

''No!'' Said Kaneki as always refusing to have Issei pervert material.

As the two talk for a moment a nurse arrived with some food for the eye patch teen. Some fish, rice and vegetables.

''Here you go.'' Said the nurse.

''Wow that looks good. What are you waiting for? Dig in.'' Said Issei.

''Good, I am starving.'' Said Kaneki with a smile.

As the teen had a bite of fish he felt something off.

''Uh?!'' Asked him in shock.

The fish tasted rotten, and he ended up spitting out.

''What's wrong dude?'' Asked Issei confused.

''The food is with a weird taste.'' Said Kaneki.

''Really?'' Asked Issei.

The brown-haired teen went to taste the fish and he didn't had the same reaction as his friend.

''Taste fine to me.'' Said Issei.

The nurse who brought his food was still there and tasted a little bit of the food.

''Same here. You shouldn't be so picky.'' Said her with a playful tone.

Kaneki didn't know what was going on, he usually loved fish but his mouth was telling him not to eat that.

''I don't know what is going on but I can't eat this.'' Said him.

''What!? Come on man this is a good meal.'' Said Issei looking at his tray of food.

"I will see if I can get you something else. Maybe some chicken.'' Said the nurse.

"Thanks.' Said Kaneki.

Issei went and ate a little more of the fish and was confused of why Kaneki was acting like that.

''It tastes fine to me. It's like the one we have at home all the time.'' Said him.

Kaneki didn't know what was happening, but he couldn't eat that food.

''Maybe I should wait for the chicken.'' Said Kaneki.

A little later

Issei didn't know what was going on with Kaneki, even with the chicken he barely eaten. Maybe the stomach of his friend was still all messed up from the surgery, that was it, sometime of recovery and Kaneki could eat the same thing again.

''Issei how was it?'' Asked Kaneki.

''What?'' Asked Issei.

''Your date. How it was?'' Asked Kaneki wondering.

The teen then remembered his horrible date, but he didn't know if that actually happened because his parents couldn't remember and to be honest Issei didn't know if that was real or not.

''I waked up today as if nothing happened. I feel I got tricked.'' Said Issei.

''Really?!'' Asked Kaneki surprised.

''Yeah, my money is that I got drugged or something else. Anyway which is weird because my wallet was still full and nothing was missing.'' Said him.

''What happened?'' Asked Kaneki.

''I don't know, all I remembered was that chick getting some black wings out of her back and stabbing me with a frecking light sword.'' Said Issei.

''Black wings as if they were a crow?'' Asked Kaneki.

''Yes, very creepy.'' Said Issei.

The two just sat down and thought about their horrible dates. In no question Kaneki had the worst, Issei had a little bit of amnesia and that was it. Although it was weird that the two had a horrible encounter the previous day.

''Man, they are lighting up the streets. I can barely keep my eyes open.'' Said Issei looking at the window.

''What are you talking about?'' Asked Kaneki.

'Don't joke Kaneki. The streets they are pretty lighten for this time.'' Said Issei.

''Issei is pretty dark outside.'' Said Kaneki seeing darkness outside and while he could see a little better it was still pretty dark.

The pervert went to look at the window and saw that the streets were like if they were all lighten up, but it was almost dinner time outside.

''Really?!'' Asked Issei in shock.

''Is something wrong?'' Asked Kaneki.

''What is wrong with my eyes! I don't know if I am getting too close of the screen or something, but they shouldn't be like this.'' Said Issei rubbing his eyes.

''Maybe we should call a doctor.'' Said Kaneki worried.

"Nah, don't do that. It will just make my parents even more worried.'' Said Issei.

''I am just glad to have such good people in my life like you all. I don't know what I would do.'' Said Kaneki starting to tear up.

Issei seeing his friend acting like this went to comfort him.

''Hey, at least you're alive and thank God for…argh!'' Said Issei suddenly getting a headache.

''Are you ok?'' Asked Kaneki.

''What that hell?! That hurt!'' Said Issei.

''Do you want me to call a doctor? I think it's for the best.'' Said Kankei.

''No, I think it's just headache.'' Said Issei.

''Headache? You only get that from studying it.'' Said Kaneki confused.

''I don't know! Maybe its all the stress from today. I will get some medicine later when I get home. Now what about this food?'' Asked Issei seeing the barely eaten meal.

Kaneki kept saying the food had a horrible taste when Issei kept trying and it tasted normal.

''I guess my stomach is still healing up?'' Asked Kaneko worried.

Then an idea came to Issei head, not one of his bad pervert ideas, well it is a little pervy but not so much.

''Hey man, let's go out once you are all better. Not just a simply place or the same cafeteria as always. Let's go to a place where we can just eat like kings.'' Said Issei.

''Where are you thinking?'' Asked Kaneki.

''How about Big Girl?! Nice steaks and nice booties too.'' Said Issei already drooling on the two things.

''Aren't you banned from there?'' Asked Kaneki.

''No, that was another place. This one I am still good to go.'' Said Issei with a smile.

The shy teen didn't know what to say but he thought that a good meal with his best friend would make him feel a lot better.

''Just the two of us?'' Asked Kaneki.

'Sure! Just like good old times, two guys and their meats.'' Said Issei.

''that's sound a bit gay.'' Said Kaneki with a chuckle.

''don't say those words!'' Scream Issei feeling like a fool.

The two just laughed at that, even with those horrible incidents their friendship was still strong as ever.

''Thanks Issei, I know I can always count on you.'' Said Kaneki.

''Same thing man, we will be bros until the day we die.'' Said Issei as the two fist bump.

The two just chat for a while and goof off like they usually do, trying their best to surpass their memories of their bad dates.

Little did they know that their life's were about to change, and they were both no longer humans. And while Issei would get some danger but a nice amount of boobs, Kaneki was about to enter in a world of Carnage and pain.

The transformation of Kaneki was starting to take effect as he could sense something odd about Issei.

"Why do I feel this weird sensation around him? Is this some kind of medicine effect? And is his hand glowing?'' Thoguht Kaneki as the effects of his transformation were starting as he felt the presence of a supernatural being.

So, this a good way to start things out. I like the way of Issei and Kaneki the following day of their horrible dates meeting up, not knowing that the two are no longer humans. While Issei is an official Reincarnated, poor Kaneki is a mix mash of a Ghoul. Now its stated that Ghouls can have kids but it's a little more complicated.

I wanted to make a chapter which is more focused on Issei and Kaneki friendship, showing off their bond and how they work well together. Very similar to Josuke and Issei in A Devil Diamond, that's one of the few series where I tolerate Issei because him and Josuke work so well together.

This was a cool chapter to make and I hope to make another one real soon. The next will be dinner, Kaneki realization and Issei discovering who he is.
