Author note:this is my first Danny phantom story, I thank Cthulhu rex and emyy250 for helping me, and the story takes place after the events of Phantom Planet.
The cold Amity Park wind whipped across Paulina's face as she watched Danny and Sam laughing together in the schoolyard. Her hearts fluttered, a mixture of envy and nostalgia swept over her. It was a familiar feeling. After all, she had spent years watching them from a distance, pining for the boy who had never seen her as anything more than a cute classmate.
Ever since Danny Phantom had revealed his identity to the world a year ago, Paulina had followed his story closely. She had watched as her rival, Sam Manson, had become Danny Fenton's girlfriend. Worse, she had witnessed Danny Phantom's transformation into a world-renowned hero. Envy was eating her up inside.
Paulina headed to the living room because she could no longer watch them together, and she heard her friend's voice.
"Paulina, are you there?" asked Star, her inseparable friend, in a concerned tone of voice.
"Of course I'm here, Star, what's wrong?"
Star entered the room with a frown.
"I was talking to Dash and he said he saw you in the schoolyard looking at Danny and Sam. You seem to be pretty depressed."
Paulina sighed. She couldn't keep the truth from Star, not her best friend.
"It's not that, Star. It's just...I'm tired of things always going wrong for me. I've always liked Danny, but...he's always preferred Sam. Even after we found out Danny Phantom was Danny Fenton, he was still with her. I feel like...like I never had a chance."
Star sat down at a desk next to him and took Paulina's hand.
"I understand, Paulina. But don't be discouraged. There's always a second chance. Maybe you just need a little push."
Star had to leave the room on business.
Suddenly, a ghostly figure appeared in front of Paulina. It was a young woman in a pink dress that radiated a glowing aura. "Hello Paulina," the ghost said, her melodious voice echoing in the air. "My name is Eros, and I've come to help you get the boy you love."
Paulina frowned, confused. "What are you talking about?" she asked.
Eros smiled mischievously. "I know how you feel. And I know you wish you had a second chance, a chance to change the past. What would you say if you could travel back in time and warn your version of the past about what's in store for Danny?"
Paulina's eyes widened in amazement. The idea was tantalizing, but also terrifying. Could she really change the past? What if the consequences were catastrophic?
"I can send you back in time so you can tell your version of that time what you know now," Eros continued. "But only for a limited time. One week. You'll have to stay in the past for a week because I'll have to retrieve my energy in order to return you to your time."
Paulina hesitated for a moment, but the possibility of changing the past filled her with a hope she had forgotten. "All right," she finally said. "Do it."
Eros nodded and extended his hand toward Paulina, the pink eros dress changing color turning light Violet. "Close your eyes and trust me."
Paulina closed her eyes, and suddenly felt a sense of vertigo. When she opened her eyes, she found herself at home in her room, sitting up in bed, with memories of her past coming back like a wave. Eros whose dress was pink again explained to her that she is at the moment when the ball ended and the incident of Aragon's amulet ended, and very soon her version of the past would arrive.
Suddenly, a younger Paulina entered the room it was Paulina from the past who is surprised to see a girl who looks very similar to her, and paulina from the future speaks. "Paulina, it's you. Your version of the future," she said. "I know you find this hard to believe, but I'm real. And I've come to help you."
The Paulina of the past was stunned, her disbelief reflected in her eyes. "That's impossible," she said, shaking her head.
Paulina of the future sighed. "I know, it's hard to believe. But I assure you, I am you. And I have something you need to know. Danny Phantom is Danny Fenton."
Paulina from the past was stunned - Danny Phantom was Danny Fenton? It was something totally improbable, something she couldn't believe.
"That's impossible. You can't be telling the truth. Danny Phantom is a hero, a cool kid, and Danny Fenton... Danny Fenton is just a normal kid, a kid who... who..."
"I know, it's a shock. But it's true," said the Paulina of the future. "If you hadn't convinced him to go to the dance, he wouldn't have discovered his powers. And if he hadn't discovered his powers, he wouldn't have been able to protect Amity Park. And if he hadn't protected Amity Park, Sam wouldn't have been there for him when he needed him most. And he...he wouldn't have been happy."
The Paulina of the past felt a lump in her throat. The future's version of her life painted a bleak picture. It was a reality where Danny had lost the girl he loved, and where she had never managed to have a chance with him.
"But...why did you come, what do you want me to do?" asked the Paulina of the past.
The Paulina of the future took her younger self's hand. "I want you to tell Danny that you like him. That you tell him that you like him, and not Danny Phantom. That you tell him that...that you want him to be happy."
Eros, who had been watching the scene from a corner, approached them. "Paulina from the past. I have to get my energy back so I can return your future self to his time. Paulina from the future you have one week to do all you can, as one week is how long it will take me to recover all my energy to return you to your time."
The Paulina of the past felt overwhelmed by the responsibility that had been thrust upon her. "What am I going to do?" she murmured.
The Pauline of the future smiled at him with a mixture of hope and sadness. "Do what your heart tells you. Try to change the future. Try to be happy."
Both Paulinas looked into each other's eyes, past and future intertwined by an invisible thread of destiny. Eros, with a nod of approval, left them alone.
"Well," said the Pauline of the past, with a glint of determination in her eyes. "I may not be the Paulina of the future, but I can be the Paulina who changes her destiny. And I'll do it for Danny."
"To be continued..."
