Brief History:

Very is little is known about Leone's past before she became a member of the Night Pirates and was identified as such but what is known explains why a crew like the Night Pirates would appeal to her and she to them. It is known that she was born on an island in the first half of the Grand Line and in the capital city of that island but the island itself and its location are not known. However, based on her own statements to marines who survived encounters with her, Leone was orphaned at a young age and grew up on the streets of her home island's Capital with no one to help her but fellow street urchins.

This, coupled with her claims that the island she grew up on was a monarchy run by a cruel, tyrannical, king who exploited his subjects so that he could pay the Heavenly Tribute with their hard earned money and not his own personal wealth, are believed to be what led to her hatred for the World Government and the Navy. Additionally the king was enabled by his cronies and sycophants who were the nobles in that country and their attitudes didn't help things with Leone.

According to Leone, neither the World Government nor the Navy did anything to stop the abuses of power that the king and his nobles engaged in because the Heavenly Tribute was always paid on time and there was a strategic importance to her home island that allowed the king to get away with things as the Navy didn't want to piss him off. Clearly there was a failure here as there have been in the past in other places all over the world but that doesn't excuse her later actions when she took it upon herself to change things for herself and others like her through murder and violence.

This all started when she ate her Devil Fruit and gained the powers of the Cat-Cat Fruit, model: Lion thus giving her the needed abilities to take matters into her own hands. It's believed that she came by the Devil Fruit by chance when she broke into a noble's mansion in search of food and money and due to hunger ate the prized Devil Fruit as it was the first thing she found to sate her hunger without realizing what it was.

Regardless of how she found the Devil Fruit or whether or not she knew what it was when she ate it, find and eat it she did and she quickly learned the nature of her powers and how to use them. From then on reports indicate that she used the power to take out those who abused the citizens and give back to her fellow commoners in need.

This culminated in her assassination of the king's right hand man and an attempt on the king's life as well. These actions occurred right around the time that former Vice Admiral Najenda arrived on the island with her two crewmembers seeking to use the Navy facilities there to repair the ship that they'd stolen and rob the marines stationed there of intel and supplies.

How Leone came across Najenda during these two separated incidents is still unclear but she did, likely as she was fleeing the palace after her failed attempt on the king's life, and while she hadn't managed to kill the king, she did join Najenda, Bulat, and Lubbock in destroying the Navy's infrastructure there. Afterwards, Leone joined their crew to escape the island and since then the Navy has not returned to that island and it is likely now some pathetic backwater that can't pay the Heavenly Tribute as Navy records indicate that the Navy's presence was a major part of their economy.

While there is no more news on her home island, after Leone left it there is plenty more news regarding her as it is believed that she was the point of contact who helped bring Akame to the Night Pirates when she defected from the World Government. Additionally she has been being implicated in several high-profile assassinations throughout the Grand Line as the Night Pirates recruited and gained their reputation while sailing it. One of these assassinations led to the discovery of the location of the Beast-Beast Fruit, model: Tyrant in the North Blue and caused the Night Pirates to make for it though how that came to be is still unclear.

As is how the Night Pirates got to the North Blue as there are no reports of them ever entering the New World and their ship is a stolen Navy battleship but somehow they managed it and were able to reach the island in question right as Tatsumi was finishing his rampage following the consumption of his Devil Fruit. Their timing was near perfect as it was before Admiral Guresai could reach the island so they were able to rescue Tatsumi and his Supreme Grade sword, by some accounts it was Leone herself who carried him to their ship, and flee back to the Grand Line with a new, deadly, crewmember.

From there, and in a large part thanks to Tatsumi, they were able to drastically increase their threat level and it is known that Leone and Tatsumi participated in the extermination of a sex slavery ring that served the World Nobles with prime men and women for their pleasures. It was this mission in fact that led to Leone's identification and the issuance of her first bounty; 36 million berries. That bounty would be upped to 86 million following an incident with a cult that was a front for Cypher Pol's intelligence gathering network on the Grand Line shortly before the crew headed to Sabaody.

Since then it has been confirmed that Leone was present in the Human Employment Office when Straw Hat Luffy punched Saint Charloss and sparked the incident there as well as later being seen picking up Tatsumi after he was knocked out by Admiral Kizaru and fleeing with him and Akame. Due to her bounty size she is not considered to be a Super Rookie but she should be considered highly dangerous and extreme caution must be taken in apprehending her.
