I would also like to apologize for not being able to upload for a long time due to the fact that my work schedule is quite hectic and I spent most of my time on work than this fictional story. Sif and the Warriors Three were in their usual spot. Sif was pacing back and forth still worried about Thor and Loki even if she despised him. She also appreciates Loki sometimes because whether she admits it or not, Loki did help them a lot. Saved them and get them out of trouble and they are just too blind to see it. And now him being gone, it's just different. It's been three Asgardian hours and Thor never left his room, mostly hearing him thrashing his room and they never dared approach him. The All-Mother was crying and the All-Father was there to comfort her but they knew he was not doing it right because they could also hear the hurt of his voice.
The experienced they have witness made them sad because they aren't used seeing them like those hopeless people who no longer knows where they're going. Sif heaved a sighed.
"We must do something." A manly voice was heard.
"Like what, Fandral?" Sif asked. "Going back to Jotunheim?" she paused. "Haven't you heard Laufey? He said that he will declare war if we tried anything."
Hogun just shook his head. "I didn't know that Loki's absence would cost sadness in our lives." they all turned their heads towards him because he rarely spoke in the group. "If this would happen, we should have just spent our time with him. It's true that most of the time we just want him out of our group but now those wishes don't matter."
"I hate to say this, but it's true." Volstagg added. "I mean yeah, I hate the guy but it feels empty when he is not here."
Sif agreed and never dared to say anything. The way she heard Loki's cry for the FIRST TIME of her existence, it sounds so devastating and excruciatingly painful. Thought she understood the intention of Odin but it was also unfair to Loki.
- FLASHBACK -
'Now, father.' that word just came out from his mouth like it was venomous. "Tell me." he said but Odin doesn't answer and this angered him. "TELL ME!"
His shouts booms and the others that surrounds him could clearly see and feel the hurt and betrayed voice coming from him. While Odin was devastated at seeing Loki like this.
"I thought we could unite our kingdoms one day. Bring about an alliance, bring about a permanent peace ... through you." he somewhat hesitantly admits the truth.
"But those plans no longer matter, Loki." Odin added, reassuring Loki that he meant what he said.
Loki shook his head. "So, I am no more than another stolen relic!? Locked up in Asgard until you might have use of me."
- END OF FLASHBACK -
That thought just ... how do you describe it? Feeling used? Sif's allegiance will always be loyal to the King of Asgard but Loki has a point though.
- FLASHBACK -
'YOU NEVER THINK! YOU NEVER THINK THE DAMAGE THAT MIGHT COST FROM THE TRUTH THAT YOU SOLEMNLY SWEAR NOT TO REVEAL!' he cried non-stop and still trying to pry himself from the hold.
- END OF FLASHBACK -
That too, Loki has a point. A painful truth that was hidden from you and you found it in an unexpected place would definitely sting and the wounds might heal but the scar will be great. The shout of Loki that Sif heard kept replaying in her mind. That voice is not acting, that voice sounds betrayed from the loved ones that he trusted.
'Oh Loki.' she thought. 'We are sorry. I, am sorry.' she closed her eyes.
- FLASHBACK -
'Now, I completely understand why you favoured Thor, all these years." he sobbed and looked at Odin. "Because no matter how much you claimed to love me, but your love of Thor is bigger and clearer. No questions asked.'
- END OF FLASHBACKS -
'I wish this didn't happen.' she thought but no matter how much she prayed to the Norns but what happens ALREADY happened and it can no longer change.
"There's nothing we can do. It already happened." she sighed. "Let's just pray to the Norns that we will get through this and let's just be there for Thor."
They all agreed to Sif and said nothing more.
- JOTUNHEIM REALM -
Loki just woke up. He felt his stomach grumbled and he was hungry. But he stopped himself. He just hugged his stomach. He was still not digesting of what just happened. When all of a sudden, his door chamber opened, revealing two maiden frost giants and a cloth was covering half of their faces, bringing a tray of food while the other was bringing a mead if Loki is not mistaken.
He heard them giggling from the guard and obviously Loki was not buying their giggle. There's something suspicious with these two. They might dress like a maiden frost giants but their built looks like a man. Loki saw the guards looking at the two with doubts but they left when one of them stated that the King wanted to talk to them and give Loki to their care. Some were still suspicious and very hesitant to leave but still left the premises.
When the guards left, the two closed Loki's chamber and heard them.
"Are they gone?" from a female voice sounds a male now.
"Yeap." then they heaved a sighed and removed the female dress only to see 2 men frost giants in front of him.
Loki's eyes widened and was about to panic but one of them said.
"Don't be scared little one." A voice so soft assured him. "We are not here to hurt you." he showed his toothy grin. "We just brought you food and mead."
They walked closer to Loki and Loki surprisingly calmed down. He wondered who they are. He saw them put the tray of food and mead on his bed as the two stepped backwards not to scare him.
"I don't know if you're hungry or not but we just want to make sure you're well fed." the smaller one said but not as small as Loki. He is just a few inches smaller of the other frost giant.
Loki was indeed thankful because he was INDEED hungry but his curiosity gets the better of him.
"Who are you?" he asked. "Why do you care so much that you two allowed yourself to dress as a woman to come here and deliver my food not knowing if I am hungry or not?"
The two frost giants looked at each other and if Loki was not mistaken, he saw them turned a bit red.
"Well." the taller one scratched his head. "This might be new to you -"
"You're clearly stating the obvious." Loki muttered.
"And everything but I am Helblindi."
'Helblindi?' Loki thought. That name sounds familiar.
"And I am Byleistr." the smaller one introduced himself too.
'Byleistr?' Loki knitted his eyebrows then realisation hit him.
"Wait? You two are the sons of Laufey?" he asked and Loki wanted to stop himself from talking but he can't stop it because of his curiosity.
"Yeap." they answered in unison.
"That means we are -" but Loki was interrupted.
"That we are brothers, yes." Byleistr replied.
Loki wanted to disagree but he cannot argue with facts and science. Then Laufey's words entered his mind.
- FLASHBACK -
"Trust me, if their excitement overwhelms them, they cannot leave you alone and they would do everything to see you. Even if that means humiliating themselves."
- END OF FLASHBACKS -
Is this what he meant humiliating themselves? Are they overwhelmed to meet him? Because as what he saw a while ago, these two frost giants who honestly looked menacing standing in front of him deceiving the guards while wearing women's clothes? To be honest, if Loki was not an emotional wreck by now, he would of laughed at it. But as weird as it sounds, seeing these two just made his day somewhat lessen the pain that he felt inside. Maybe because of what they did a while. And frankly, Loki did love them for that. Thor cannot humiliate himself just to see him but these two? They are just different.
Helblindi and Byleistr was looking at their youngest brother and to be honest they were mesmerized of how he looks. He looks small and fragile but beautiful to look at. They are so afraid to touch him in fear of breaking him. But Loki's height didn't stop them from loving their long-lost brother. They always loved him regardless of his height from the very day he was born. But they also knew that he was dealing with lots of emotion because they might not be present during the incident but when their father explained to them, they already knew the outcome.
They knew that he was drained and tired. Laufey did told them to leave him alone but Helblindi and Byleistr can't stop themselves from seeing him. It's like a natural reflex for them just like when they are still kids while holding the offspring Loki and promised themselves to always be there and protect their brother but sadly that promised was broken when he disappeared. But now, they are happy but they knew that it will never be the same because Loki just painfully kne wthe truth.
And they were angry at Odin for keeping the truth from him. If he didn't take Loki from them, they would be a happy family now. They just gonna wait for him to heal properly and adjust. Although it might be hard for them but atleast it's worth it. Helblindi noticed that Loki was staring at nothing.
"Well, maybe our presence is no longer needed." he smiled sheepishly. "We just wanted to see you in person."
"And wanting to make sure you eat." Byleistr added. "We should leave now." he nudged his older brother, giving him a hint that they should leave Loki alone to eat in peace. "Come brother."
"And if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask for assistance, little brother." Helblindi addressed him with love and Loki weirdly felt the love and sincerity.
Loki saw the two were going to wear the dress again so he asked.
"Are you seriously going to wear that again?"
They looked at Loki and Byleistr answered.
"Of course, we don't want father to see us defying his order just to see you since you indeed need the rest." he smiled sheepishly.
"True. And although it's quite embarrassing but it's worth it." he chuckled. "But come to think of it, even if we get caught and scolded by Father, it is still worth it." Helblindi added.
"Hey now, don't be a bad influence to Loki." he nudged his brother and Helblindi feigned being hurt.
The two-bickering made Loki almost smile but he stopped himself. Guess having two frost giant brothers aren't bad after all.
"Oh Byleistr Laufeyson, second son of Laufey, you must have forgotten on how we sometimes defy father's order because of doing something that we love and something that we knew will not put our realm in jeopardy." he grins. "A little mischief won't hurt."
Loki can no longer stop himself from smiling. Helblindi has a point though. Loki is like that.
"You might be stating facts here but our ears might hurt from Father's long angry empty threats speech. And we knew we don't like it."
Loki could also hear himself from Byleistr's voice.
Helblindi grunted because Byleistr was right. It was all fun and games until Laufey would enter the game.
"I forgot about that." he made a face and they heard chuckling from Loki and they all turned to Loki.
Loki saw them looking at him and he stopped what he was doing. Cursing himself for not being able to hold himself. Helblindi and Byleistr just smiled and didn't say anything which makes Loki happy that they didn't make any commentary. They went back to doing their business already in women's clothing. Frankly speaking, Loki wanted them to stay. He didn't know why but he just doesn't want to be alone right now. If feels like he knew them for years by just talking for like 20 or 30 minutes. The two was about to leave but Loki stopped them.
"Wait!" he called.
The two looked at him.
"Uh-uhm." he paused and found courage to say something. "You can stay if you want." he offered. "I don't mind." he smiled sweetly and the eyes of the two sparkled. "I don't want you to go down the hallway wearing that." he pointed. "Besides, I think I need some help finishing these foods that your brought. They're quite large."
Then Loki heard them laughing softly and without a second thought they immediately get rid of women's clothing and joined their little brother with excitement.
I would like to inform you guys that I would take a lot of time to upload another chapter. But hey, I will do my best to create one once I'm off with work. Thank you so much for your patience everyone.
