Welp. It has been a while since I pumped out a chapter, so I might as well get one out for you guys to enjoy since I technically made a promise to myself to pump on after my last work, so yeah. Here it is! And normally, I would address the comments as I usually do. But I feel that I don't have to, since I can tell that every one of you enjoyed the last chapter!
And yes. I do play Stellaris in my spare time. And anything you see me throwing into the story should give you a hint what my interests are at the moment. Besides, thanks to Space Marines 2 coming out not too long ago as well as Frostpunk 2, I can't lie that I dedicated more time to slaying heretics and traitors for the Emperor and surviving the endless frost lands than writing.
Oh, well.
FOR THE EMPEROR AND THE CITY MUST NOT FALL!
Well, with what I said done, let's get this show on the road. It's time to save Haven. As always, I do not own RWBY or StarCraft. All these belong to their owners: RWBY belongs to Viz Media and StarCraft 2 belongs to Blizzard Entertainment. I only own my OC in this story.
Safe Haven
It has been a day after everyone watched the viewing of the Hybrid tearing the whole laboratory apart, with Raynor only barely able to escape with his life with his squad. Even more was the sudden appearance of the Horizon Needle in RGQC's realm before it left by editing away reality itself.
Now, most of the cast have somewhat recovered from the utterly horrifying experience they witnessed in the accommodations of RGQC's realm. Even Lily had to check up on her mother, since Blake was notably more tense than she should have been. As for the realm lord himself, he has been quite busy the previous day.
Getting a recap from QAI, Koyanskaya and even Tamamo about the events that occurred, he was frankly unamused by Koyanskaya hijinks she did to have time as the host for one of these viewings. He made it apparent that she should have come to him if she wanted to do something like this, instead of doing a bit of back-handed deals to get a chance.
Unless she wishes to go on time out and be put in the box again, like every time she does something like this.
Nevertheless, after getting a recap on the events that transpired while he was distracted with a war against the Blokkats, RGQC made his departure to inform the rest of his realm lords of the possibility of more of these Horizon Needles showing up in the coming future. Thus, a moment of peace passed by before everyone was informed to come into the theatre room after lunch for the next viewing, with RGQC taking back his place as their host.
By the time everyone arrives back into the theatre room, RGQC can be seen on one of the chairs watching as the screen shows what appears to show a mountainous foggy environment with a pool of water in the centre of it. But it's who happens to be there as two humanoid primates with the same look can be seen fighting it out with their feathered crowns with their golden chain mail armour, and lotus root-coloured boots
But it's the weapon that caught everyone's attention with their staffs, which looked to be made from solid black iron and decorated with golden hoops at each end. In fact, out of everyone fascinated by those two primates with such skill and finesse, Sun was the only one who seemed familiar… with them. The way they fight, the way they dodge and weave against one another.
It's sort of how he fights.
"Hm? Oh! You're here!" The realm lord stood up as the screen paused as he turned to address his audience upon realising that they were there. "My apologies, everyone, but I've simply been distracted with a viewing of my own. In fact, I'm simply at the climax of it. It's a shame I have to stop it now." The realm lord mutters the last part softly to himself as everyone slowly walks to their seat as Ozpin assures him.
"It is alright, RGQC. In fact, what are you watching right now?" The headmaster of Beacon asks as much of everyone in the room, sharing his curiosity. Especially Sun, who voices out insistently.
"Yeah. Who are these guys, and why do I feel so familiar with them? The way they fight is just like mine, minus the nun chucks and shotguns." Sun explains as RGQC simply nods his head with a smile on his face.
"Because what you see here is the Destined One going against his final test. Against the Great Sage's Broken Shell. None other than the Great Monkey King of Sun Wukong himself!" The realm lord announces with such vigour while Penny scratches her head confused.
"But friend Sun Wukong is here." She points out. But then it didn't take long before it hit her and everyone. "Unless that means that-"
"That you all are witnessing another world altogether here with a different Sun Wukong? Yes. In this world, there comes a monkey born of stone that would become the strongest being in that world. And his name is Sun Wukong, who will still bear the titles of the Monkey King, The Great Sage equal to Heaven. The Victorious Fighting Buddha." RGQC smiles the whole way as he explains, before QAI joins in.
[In addition, the weapon the Monkey King wields is known as Jingju bang. It is said to weigh over 6,750 kilograms (Or 14,882 pounds for my American readers.) and can grow or shrink in size and length as Wukong commands it to. He often hides it as a needle inside his ear and wills it to normal size whenever he is about to engage in combat.]
Hearing QAI's explanation renders everyone in awe by the facts revealed to them, "That's what I call one of my weapons! And wow, that's a heavy one!" Sun shouts in astonishment. "Just how similar am I to that guy?"
"Wait, so does that mean you copy the Monkey King or the Monkey King copies you?" Fox chimes in cheekily as team SSSN's leader gets all flushed up.
"Hey! Just because there's a better Sun Wukong out there doesn't mean one's a copy of the other. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a version of me in that position."
"You're not wrong at all, Sun, about what the multiverse is like." RGQC chimes in with a hand behind his back, with the other giving a finger gun gesture at the monkey Faunus. "In fact, there's this specific scene I find quite funny to see. I think you all will enjoy witnessing it, QAI if you please." He smirks as QAI obeys.
[Affirmative.]
And just like that, the clip is reversed before it plays to show the Destined one getting onto his pole as it stands on the ground and grows longer with him still on it. Then he swings forward and sends his pole straight for the Great Sage, only for it to be snatched mid-air with his bare hand as both awkwardly stare at each other. Before the Great Sage proceeds to bring the pole up with the Destined One still clinging on to it for dear life and smashing him onto the ground twice before tossing him away like he was nothing.
"Hahaha! Wow! Talk about being disrespectful over there." Mercury audibly chuckles, with the others also laughing at the scene. Even those who tend to be less emotive than the others were letting out giggles at the see such blatant disrespect happening on screen.
"Yeah. I wouldn't like it and would get mad if someone were to disregard me like this." Yang added in while her half-sister was still stuck in a giggling mess.
As for RGQC, he's also chuckling before purposely replaying the scene again as everyone couldn't help themselves but laugh at it once more. After all, most people would take a fight seriously, but then you got the Shell of the Monkey King himself acting nonchalant as he smashes the Destined One onto the floor twice before tossing him away like he was nothing.
It was then that an interesting thought hit Yang. "Actually, perhaps I should do that to someone, should they try to attack me. Yeah, that could work…" She ponders, as those who know Yang could only imagine her smashing them onto the floor before throwing them aside, and they could only shudder at the thought.
"Yeah… I don't know about that…" Blake mutters out as she glances at her partner, giving the most malicious grin she's seen in a while.
"Anyway, we can continue where we left off but," RGQC pauses while a look of concern grows on his face. "How are you all feeling about the last viewing, is the day's break enough for you? Or do you all need more time?" The realm lord asks.
"Well not really? I don't think so for me, but not sure about the others, though." Qrow was the first to speak as shakes of heads went around.
"Eh, we all went for a bit of fluff therapy at the Rappy sanctuary, I think that's enough time to recover from that experience." Coco mutters as nods go around. Yes. After witnessing such horrors yesterday, everyone figures that some fluff therapy is needed to help them and as a result, many of them chose to spend much of their time over there, and the experience worked wonders for their mental health and recovering from the horrors of the last viewing to an extent.
"Well, if that's the case, good. We can continue where we left off, and I'm sure this would be interesting for some of you." The realm lord explains as he sits on his comfy chair and leans back on it. "Alright, QAI, you know what to do."
[Affirmative.] With that, the theatre darkens and the screen lights up.
The Dominion's secret lab on Castanar was conducting sinister experiments on Protoss and Zerg. A powerful Protoss-Zerg hybrid escaped in the process, nearly killing Raynor and his strike team.
The screen reads as everyone had a minor flashback in its horrifying glory, with Raynor and his men running for dear life against an unkillable Hybrid right on their tail. At times, it almost seemed like this was the end but, either because of sheer luck or fate, the Raiders always come on top, though it cannot be the same for everyone else slaughtered in that laboratory.
"Yeah… nearly is an understatement." Torchwick sarcastically muttered out as the memory of it ambushing the Raiders popped into everyone's minds and made all shiver in terror.
"With how close it nearly got them; I won't be surprised if they need a break after all that mess." Tai adds in while he leans back with Zwei on his lap. After the last viewing, RGQC allowed Zwei to join the viewing, if only to help cheer up everyone. Well, that and Lily was complaining about how Zwei kept on following her around the realm and at one point even mistaken her running away for a game of chase.
Let's just say that for a moment, she was screaming her head out, with Zwei happily barking as he chased after her.
Hyperion Bridge
04:17 - Shipboard time.
The screen lit up to show Raynor no less than wear with sweat still pouring down his forehead as he spoke to his second in disbelief. "That thing down there, it... It was like the hybrid Zeratul fought." He explains, while Matt simply blinks in shock as the camera cuts to him.
"Here? But how?" His second could only ask.
"Yes, how is the question. I don't think it's physically possible to merge the DNA of those two species, from what we are told." Pietro mutters as he rubs his hand on his chin. "As Matt has explained before, the technological requirements go beyond what Terrans are capable of."
"Father, I suspect Mengsk must be receiving help from the Dark one based on previous viewings. But I am under the suspicion that he doesn't even realise he's making an army that would render the galaxy extinct in the future." Penny spoke before the General joined in.
"A possible explanation, and terrifying if proven true." Ironwood adds his thoughts in, as does Raven.
"That would mean that Mengsk is just a pawn, which isn't better."
The camera then cuts back to Raynor who snaps angrily with a growl at the man responsible for this. "Mengsk! It's always Mengsk! The end of the universe is coming and I should have known he'd be behind it!" The camera then quickly cuts to Matt again, who could only question how.
"But how did he hybridize Zerg and Protoss? The technology required is way beyond anything Terrans have developed. He can't be working alone on this…"
"Yeah, but I wonder who's helping him do this…" Raynor mutters before the camera fades to black.
"If Penny's theory that the Dark one is the one helping Mengsk to build a Hybrid army, then who could be the one in the Dominion doing this?" Weiss could only ponder for everyone to hear as all of them began to think about who could be the one responsible.
Eventually, the screen lights up again.
Hyperion Cantina
11 minutes later.
As those words appear on the screen, it soon lit up to show the Cantina with Raynor staring at his drink while noticeably paler than usual as if still trying to comprehend what he saw back in the lab. In fact, Tychus can be seen giving a worried glance at his partner before taking a swig of a whole bottle of alcohol.
"Not that I endorse drinking, but I think anyone would need one after that just to cope with that." Neptune mutters out loud, with many of his friends silently agreeing with him. "Actually, I wonder if they have any psychiatrist on board to help them with this." He wonders next before Summer joins in.
"Well, seeing how anyone against Mengsk is with the Raiders, it wouldn't surprise me that several psychiatrists would be on their side. Then again, with the amount of fighting we've seen, some will definitely need some help to cope."
"Yeah, I hope they can recover from that experience." Ruby chimed in as the screen continued.
Staring at his glass in hand, Raynor was incredibly tempted to take another drink but is quickly stopped when he picks up the TV about to play, and while that is happening, the screen pans over to it for the audience to see.
- More arrests follow Raynor broadcast - Vermillion 'recovering well' say hospital staff - Colonists on Bountiful declare independence, other fringe worlds may follow - Beryllium market rallies six points after accident - Emperor Mengsk still unavailable for comment -
"As to be expected. While Mr Raynor is preoccupied with the last mission, it seems the broadcasting has caused more colonies in the fringe worlds to declare independence. I'm not sure if that's a wise decision with the war against the Zerg still ongoing…" Ironwood mused with his words, causing the audience to pause to think about it.
"Well, if I learned that my emperor was a monster, I think I would want to dissociate myself away from him. Especially if I learned that he's responsible for the death of billions… I think." Blake mutters out before a thought hits her. "RGQC, this may seem out of the blue but, how did alternative me and my uh, husband rule Menagerie?"
"Why the sudden curiosity?" Her partner asks with a curious smile.
"Well, Lily has been telling much about him and me building Menagerie up, and I'm just curious if you're wondering, Yang." Blake explained, as every single Faunus in the room paid more attention than before.
"Well," RGQC blinked in response. "Let's just say that alternative you and her husband did all they could to make life in Menagerie much better. In fact, you can thank alternative Ghira for imparting him the administrative skills on how to govern a village before he turns Kuo Kuana into the capital city of a new Kingdom." The realm lord explained, while Ghira simply blinked with surprise.
"Oh?"
"Yes Ghira. In fact, from what I remember, as soon as he met you and Kali, somewhere along the lines, you believed that he had promise as Blake's potential husband and candidate to take over your position as chieftain and immediately began to test him. Rather intensely, I may add." RGQC explains as Blake's cheeks turned pink. Why did she bring this up to the realm lord again?
Oh, right. She let her curiosity get the best of her, and now she regrets it. Thankfully, RGQC can read the room and decided to cover her.
"Well, enough of that, let us resume.
As the News Network begins playing, Kate can be seen as the anchor as she speaks. "This is Kate Lockwell for UNN. Donny Vermillion remains on sick leave - get better, Donny! Coming up later, we begin a ten part expose on corruption in the Dominion government. How high does it go?" She questions as the audience listens to her. Frankly, they all prefer her to Donny, who appears to be on sick leave.
Probably for the best.
"Knowing Mengsky boy over here, he most likely has a ton of corruption under his belt as long as it suits his agenda. Hell, if you ask me, the councillors back in Remnant ain't any better with their corruption." Qrow mutters before his twin sister joins in.
"I can attest. Mistral's quite corrupted and last I checked, many of the councillors will take bribes from criminals and the occasional bandits all the time." Hearing this made Ironwood glance at Ozpin who looked back. This is unfortunately true, with how powerful and influential some of Mistral's criminal networks are, it would be surprising that they can use it to push their influence on the council.
Perhaps something that needs to be addressed to hopefully prevent Salem from using them to her advantage…
"Tonight however, I'd like to return to the topic of Tarsonis, and the day it fell. Families ripped apart - literally - when the savage Zerg arrived. Mountains of dead bodies, deserted cities…" Kate says, as a beat goes by before she speaks again. "Let's play that clip again."
The screen then cuts to show a shot of Mengsk with his speech going around, but what caught the audience off guard was the sound of something crashing in the background.
"Uhh… Why is there crashing in the background?" Ruby could only ask while perplexed at the noise before her partner addresses her.
"I think we're about to get our answers soon enough."
And in truth to Weiss's suspicions, someone can be heard in the background yelling out to the sounds of power armour hydraulics moving. "Stop! Wait! You can't just come in here –" He yells out as the screen cuts back to Kate as a Dominion marine walks into view.
"By order of Dominion Security, this newscast is terminated." And with that, the news broadcast ends.
"Welp, good old censorship is here in action, it seems." Neo mumbled.
"Yup." RGQC agrees as everyone nods their heads, "Then again, censorship can be used for good and bad. It's just that in this case, Mengsk is using it to stop any criticism or the news of his war crimes from spreading out more than it did. Which is quite horrible for those who would be silenced."
"How can censorship be good?" Glynda asks, though it's less of an accusation but more of a question.
"Well, Mrs Goodwitch, I can tell you that censorship can be used positively to deal with false information, or protect the youth from some horrible content you can find out there. As with the CCTS or any global communication devices, unrestrained information flow means that the truth can and likely will be buried under the lies of those who seek to spread disinformation." RGQC then glances at both Ozpin and Ironwood.
"Alternatively, censorship if used in a contrary way will include silencing critics or positive discourse from occurring and preventing the truth or certain events from getting to the public when it needs to be. Of course, I will not deny that censorship severely impacts freedom of speech and expression and is horrible to those on the receiving end. It should only be used to filter out the lies from the truth, but even that can be abused easily."
"Sounds like you both approve and disapprove of it to me." Ilia mutters as the realm lord nods his head.
"Yes it does. I believe in the concept of balance and harmony. RGQC says, as a ball of light and darkness formed in his hands. Just as there is light, so must there be darkness to serve as a counterbalance so that one side doesn't take over everything. The same can be said for good and evil. One cannot exist without the other. Even more, something that may seem evil at first glance can be used for good, and the same can be said about something that is good can be used for evil.
"It all depends on how you use it." RGQC finished off as the balls of light and darkness faded from his hands as his worlds gave the audience much to think about. "But I think I've talked enough, let us continue."
As soon as the screen starts playing again, it cuts to Raynor looking from below as he gives a satisfied smile. "We finally got ya, Arcturus. Nice to see the media taking shots at you for a change." The commander smiles before looking down at his drink momentarily before noticing Tosh frowning as he silently signals him with his hand.
"Looks like our resident Spectre has something to say. I wonder what it is?" Coco mumble curiously as Velvet's ears twitch for a moment.
"I think it could be related to the Hybrid, if it has psionics like the Protoss, I think he could feel it from here… I think." The rabbit Faunus mutters just loud enough for everyone to hear as Winter joins in.
"It is likely Miss Scarlatina. It wouldn't surprise me if that roar it made at the end of our last viewing could be heard, even from the Hyperion."
[Confirmed.] QAI suddenly can be heard. [The Hybrid's scream is both physical and psychic in nature. Those with psionics can feel its scream, and it is unsettling.]
Nodding his head, the realm lord agrees with his trusty AI buddy. "Yup, as I'm sure you all have an unfortunate experience feeling it the last viewing, it's not a pleasant experience."
As the screen continued playing, Raynor then stood up from his seat and slowly made his way towards Tosh above and once he got there. It was surprising to see the normally calm and Stoic Spectre looking afraid, which caught everyone off guard. "Whatever you found down there makes me afraid. What was it?"
Tosh asks way before Raynor was close to him, while the commander himself could only pause to recall the experience he went through not too long ago. And then, he explains. "Something monstrous - a Zerg-Protoss hybrid. It must've been a powerful psi for you to feel its scream from all the way up here."
"Searing. Blinding. Like feelin' the sun burning your face with your eyes squeezed shut. I never felt a thing like that before. I hope I never do again." Tosh quickly replies, as everyone watching could simply agree with him. Especially for the Faunus of the group, since it was way worse. It was as if their minds were getting overwhelmed from the sheer scream they experienced.
"Look like you're correct, Vel!" Coco gave a gentle pat on Velvet's back before adding in before she forgets. "And you as well, Specialist. Can't forget about you." Winter simply nods her head in response. Honestly, it didn't matter if Coco complimented her at all, but if she wishes to, she can.
"Yeah… Me too…" Raynor agrees as both men talked for a moment before Raynor chose to make his leave as the screen darkens. Then seconds later, it lights up again to show Raynor walking into the Armoury while Swann was in the midst of talking to one of his workers.
Though, it didn't take long for Raynor's Chief Engineer to notice him walking towards him, and let's say that he's absolutely stunned at his commander's work. "What in hell's name did you stir up in that lab, cowboy?"
"A lot of nightmarish shit in that lab, buddy…" Mercury mutters to himself, with Emerald having to silently agree with him despite disliking his guts.
He asked before his commander explained the details. "Mengsk's taken to playin' god literally now. He made that thing and whole heap more like it! An' who knows how many other labs he's got out there?"
"And that's a scary thought to think about." Yang had an uneasy look, which was shared by everyone else in the room. "Just how many of those secret labs that could be out there pumping out more of those monsters?" At that moment, everyone felt a shudder going down their spines, while RGQC frowned since he knew the answer.
There's a lot of them under Moebius. More than enough for Amon to have an army of them…
Noticing that everyone's looking at him for answers, RGQC simply places a finger on his lips. "Spoilers, everyone."
The screen then cuts back to Swann as he grumbles sarcastically. "Great, like we ain't got enough to handle with the Zerg. Now we got Mengsk breedin' his own damn monsters too." Giving his Chief Engineer a nod, Raynor agrees.
"Yep… Catch you later." With a goodbye, Raynor makes his leave out of the Armoury with the screen darkening.
"Aww… No upgrades for this viewing?" Ruby pouts, while others like Pietro and Ironwood didn't show their disappointment at the lack of upgrades. They, too, want to see how else they could learn from this show.
"Not today it seems, friend Ruby." Penny says as she too sank a bit. All this information about the upgrades is so fascinating to the android that she couldn't help but express some disappointment by the lack of it.
Wanting to address their disappointment, the realm lord spoke with a gentle smile, "Don't worry, there will be more upgrades in future viewings, just not this one." And it worked to an extent, as their moods notably improved.
When the screen lights up again, Raynor could be seen talking to Ariel about what had just happened and, as expected from a scientist like her, she's horrified and disgusted by it. "I can't believe those Dominion scientists were hybridizing Zerg and Protoss! That's just... madness!" In fact, she's notably less composed than she normally is upon hearing of this act done by the Dominion.
"Yeah it is, and Mengsk gotta a lot to answer for this." Raynor affirms before taking his leave to the Hyperion Bridge, and the screen then shows the commander now walking in while Matt is in the middle of staring at the star map. However, once he noticed that his commander was walking in, Matt turned and voiced his thoughts.
"I don't know what Mengsk was trying to do in that lab. But I think he's in over his head."
"Yeah… He is over his head, making more of those monsters." Raynor replies swiftly as the audience agrees.
"Yeah. It's a miracle that Mr Raynor managed to escape the laboratory with no casualties." Summer mutters as Zwei happily sits on her lap as he barks.
"True. But it seems more that luck was on his side the whole time." Robyn adds in.
"Luck or miracle, what matters is that he manages to escape that place, if you were to ask me." Ilia mumbles.
The screen continues as Raynor slowly shuffles until he is opposite his second at the Star map. After a moment of silence between the two men to clear their thoughts, Raynor activates the Star map, as it only displays two locations still available from the last viewing.
Haven and Sigma quadrant.
"So only those two locations remain available, huh?" Ren mutters.
"I wonder if it's because we're almost done with this viewing?" Pyrrha added in, as did Jaune who threw his words into the conversation.
"Could be, but RGQC did mention that there are two more parts after this to go?" The leader of JNPR scratches his head before the realm lord confirms his suspicion.
"Yup. After all, what you're seeing right now is simply the first part of the trilogy. Then there will be two other parts which I will not say because I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise, but I think you'll like what's to come." He explains before an idea strikes him. "Alternatively, we could take a break after we complete part one to explore the wonders of the Multiverse on a later day."
"That sounds wonderful indeed to witness RGQC!" Penny blurts out with a simile, with the others agreeing that it would be interesting to see more of the multiverse at a later time. Even those like Adam and Cinder couldn't help but agree, even though they have their reserves or dislike the idea of it.
"Wonderful, I'll keep that in mind for the future once part one is done then." RGQC says as he pulls up his phone and begins typing on it while the screen continues.
Staring at the only two destinations available to him for a couple of seconds, Raynor eventually selects Haven as Ariel appears on-screen to give a briefing. Though, seeing her did raise some concerns from the audience that something had gone wrong.
And that proves to be correct as she explains the situation. "My people established a new colony on Haven. It was going well, but now the colony's gone dark. They're not responding on any frequency. We need to get there and see what the situation is. They might have been exposed to the Zerg virus, and they are on the verge of Protoss space. Jim, I'm worried that something has gone very wrong."
"Oh dear… If some of Ariel's people had been exposed to the Zerg virus and were close to Protoss space, that would mean… " Kali's ears sank a bit with worry before Ghira joined in.
"The Protoss would likely move in to purify the colonists to stop the infestation. With them not responding to any frequency, the Protoss may have already got to them." The Belladonna Patriarch narrows his eyes with his arms folded, with much of the younger audience glancing at each other with fear over Ariel's people's safety.
"Raynor needs to intervene in the matter now, I fear the safety of Ariel's people may be compromised." Glynda adds in before QAI could be heard.
[Some facts about Haven, despite its idyllic conditions and suitable site for Terran colonisation, Haven's proximity to Protoss territory has deterred any attempts... until now, at least.]
"Not a good spot to be in, knowing the Protoss's track record with the Zerg." Ilia adds in with everyone agreeing with her as the screen continues.
Giving a concerned look at his second, Raynor found his eyes back onto the star map. "Matt, I don't like the sound of this. We need to get in there and see what's going on."
"Agreed sir." Matt gave a nod as both men shared the same thought that they needed to investigate Haven to see what happened. And with that, the screen darkens.
"What do you think will happen there?" Ruby asks her friends, as Pyrrha was the first to speak her mind.
"If things go well, it's just a communication issue. But if it is true that some of the colonists have contracted the Zerg virus, Raynor might have to fight the Protoss to protect them."
"But can they even be saved?" Emerald then spoke. "From what we know, there is no cure for the Zerg virus, and leaving them alive might cause it to spread or, worse, earn the ire of the Protoss. We've seen how they react to the Zerg infestation before."
"Only one way to find out." Ozpin hums as the screen lights up.
The screen then lights up to show Matt standing behind another Hyperion crew member, starting at a nearby terminal as he wonders. We're almost to Haven, but there's still been no contact from –" Only to be quickly cut off by the sounds of an alarm blaring in the Bridge as he quickly turns his neck behind without moving at all.
"Sir, there's a Protoss fleet holding in orbit!" Raynor's second explains as the camera cuts back to show Raynor and Ariel looking at him as he continues. "They're disrupting all communications to the surface - and it looks like they're powering up their main weapons!" He warns.
"Out of the pot and into the fire, it seems. Seems like our worries about the Protoss are justified." Robyn mutters calmly as General Ironwood nods his head.
"Now I wonder what they can do in this situation…"
Alarmed from what Matt had just said and dearly worried about her people's safety, Ariel snaps her head towards the Commander and begs. "Jim! You have to stop this!" Nodding his head, Raynor turns his head towards the Star map as the camera follows where he's looking.
"Matt, open a channel to the Protoss. Let's see how diplomatic they're feelin'." He orders as a channel between the Hyperion and the Protoss fleet opens to show none other than Selendis herself.
"Oh! It's Selendis!" Penny blurts out in recognition, after all, she looks just about the same as everyone once saw her in Zeratul's dark vision of the future.
"En Taro Tassadar, James Raynor. I am Executor Selendis. Your bravery and service to Aiur are known to us." She greets Raynor as a worthy ally, her voice echoing in a cordial tone compared to her more authoritative tone they remembered not too long ago.
The screen then cuts to Raynor as he greets her with the same respect she's given him. "En Taro Tassadar, Selendis. Listen - with all due respect, your fleet needs to pull back. The people on Haven are no threat to you." He did his best to assure her, but Selendis wasn't buying Raynor's request at all.
In fact, she offers an alternative solution.
"Our Observers detected Zerg hive spores infesting the colonists. They must be purified. If you wish to undertake this mission in our stead, we will permit it." She explains before giving a counteroffer.
It was then that Ariel walked into view as she explained. "Jim, some of my people are infested, but you can't let the Protoss just destroy them all! If you keep the Protoss at bay, I know I can find a cure for the infestation."
"The only cure for Zerg infestation is purification by fire. You know this to be true, James Raynor." Selendis quickly counters and points out as Ariel counters.
"I can cure them, Jim - believe me!"
Seeing that Raynor's is now at an impasse on what to do, Selendis makes a final offer. "If you choose to resist us, we will meet in glorious combat." The screen then cuts to Raynor as he shows his uncertainty on his face on the situation as Selendis finishes her speech. "The choice is yours, James Raynor. We await your answer."
"Well, so much for trying to convince her to leave the colonist alone." Mercury bluntly mutters out.
"At least they're willing to talk, even if she chose to decline Raynor's offer, unlike the Tal'darim who attack immediately." Velvet points out, while the ex-mercenary can't refute the rabbit Faunus's words.
"Good point."
"Still, they must take infestation as a serious business if they're insistent on purifying the infested without compromise. Though I guess it is nice of them to allow someone like Raynor to deal with the infestation first, I guess." Neo adds in next as Weiss joins in.
"Wouldn't that mean that Raynor would have to kill all of Ariel's people, who are or could be infested with the Zerg virus, at the request of Selendis? I am not certain that that's not any better."
"So it's either protecting the colony against the Protoss who are friendly and risking their wrath, or killing infected but innocent civilians and going against Ariel's hopeful attempt at creating a cure. This is not a good situation to be in…" Qrow concludes as RGQC could be seen giving a grim nod as the screen continues.
Frowning at the difficult situation he finds himself in, Raynor eventually, after a moment of silence, comes to a decision. He can't just let the Protoss kill all those people, even if there's an incredibly small chance that a cure could be found.
"I ain't gonna stand by while you wipe out a whole colony, Selendis. Not while there's still a chance we can save 'em." The screen then cuts to Selendis with Ariel looking at her, in fact, the Protoss Executor doesn't seem to be offended by Raynor's choice to defend the colony and instead is honoured to engage the legendary Raynor's Raiders, which was a bit of a surprise to the audience.
"Then it shall be an honor to meet you on the field of battle. Your reputation as a commander is most impressive. I trust you will live up to it." With that, Selendis ends the transmission.
"Well, this is a surprise." The General mused. "I was under the assumption that she would take more offence to that." Ironwood raises an eyebrow as RGQC explains.
"Remember, the Protoss never forget the time Raynor helped them in their dire need, and his close relationships with some important Protoss figures played an important role as well. In fact, thanks to his sincerity and sense of honour he showed to them, he earned the respect of the Protoss society and a reputation as an excellent commander. Furthermore, even the elusive Nerazim considered Raynor a brother to them."
"Consider him a brother? Wow! He must have really made a good impression on them!" Ruby smiles as RGQC gives one in return and nods his head.
"Yup, so despite having opposing views on what should be done with the colony, Selendis isn't mad at Raynor trying to fix what the Protoss would consider a lost cause to them." RGQC continues as the screen resumes to an ecstatic Ariel.
"Thank you Jim! Thank you so much. Whatever's happening on Haven, my people don't deserve to be wiped out. We'll make this right. I'll find a cure." The Doctor thanked Raynor with her heart, and with that, the screen darkens.
"Guess it's time to see what Raynor's up against…" Sun muttered while his partner nodded his head in agreement.
"Yeah, I wonder if Selendis would go all out under the expectation that Raynor and his raiders would go all out too."
"Knowing from what we know of the Protoss, I think that's likely the case." Ozpin hums
The screen eventually lights up, and the audience were rewarded with an answer none expected, for on the screen were none other than Ariel and Raynor looking a what is clearly a Protoss mothership with several flyer escorts high in the skies slowly flying towards a settlement with possibly hundreds of civilians running for the lives in terror.
"Jim, the Protoss are already closing in on the colony! My people don't stand a chance!" Ariel was understandably shouting in horror at the sight of the odds shown before her, while the audience shared her horror. After all, they all saw the might of a Protoss Mothership, and this one seems to have some sort of visible outer shielding.
"Hang on a sec, they're going to have to destroy THAT?!" Yang almost jumped out of her seat, though her shock is understandable given the circumstances. After all, the Motherships are humongous ships which are kilometres long and tall.
"Yup," RGQC happily confirms. "As there is always the saying, if one gun isn't enough, use more guns."
"So, in short, the Raiders will have to overwhelm the mothership with constant fire? Wraiths, maybe in this operation?" Pietro suggests as the realm lord simply smiles as he points at the screen.
As Raynor walks in closer to the Star map to lean against it, he explains the plan. "We're gonna have to stop that 'Purifier' of theirs before it can wipe the whole place out. Get everyone evacuated to the main base, Ariel." He said before pausing for a second to ponder before looking at the Doctor with a stern expression. "If the Purifier gets that far - we're done."
The screen quickly cuts back to the star map as the Purifier Mothership can be seen hovering over one of the settlements after its occupants have been liquidated and to the shock of everyone, the outer visible shields suddenly vanished before a massive teal beam erupts out of the Motherships centre and begins burning the very settlement beneath it to ashes!
"By the Brothers. What is that ability?" Adam gawks in horror as he and everyone else could only watch as the very land itself beneath the Mothership is in the process of being burned to cinders or turning into glass from the sheer energies pouring out of the Protoss Mothership, and everyone soon got their answers from QAI.
[The process of Purification, or known as Glassing or Planet Cracking, is in process. It is a Protoss war technique used to destroy all life on planetary surfaces, usually to eradicate the presence of Zerg.]
"Yeah clearly…" Tai mumbles, with Summer silently nodding her head in agreement at the sight as the screen continues.
"Well, 'least we can we can count on 'em bein' methodical. They'll stop to burn every settlement along the way." The commander concludes.
"I fail to see how the Protoss being methodical would be beneficial here…" Penny questions as everyone expects an answer from the realm lord who obliges.
"Well, the Protoss tend to be quite thorough with their purification, and that process takes some time before the Purifier Mothership will move on to the next target." RGQC explains as everyone ponders his words and it hits them. If it takes its sweet time to wipe out one settlement to another, there is time to find a way to stop it in its tracks.
As the screen continues playing, Swann suddenly appears and responds in his own snarky way. "You sure know how to pick a fight, Cowboy." He quipped as the screen cuts to show Raynor's base with a star base flying in, but it's the appearance of Raynor's own Vikings that made everyone perk up, or in Ruby's case, squeeing.
"Vikings! About time Raynor gets some! Oh! Speaking of which, I need to try my hands at controlling one!" Though, she was stopped in her plans when Summer amusedly rubs her hair.
"Ruby, didn't you already wish to ride the Odin earlier? Now a Viking? How many vehicles is your count again?" She smirked while Ruby babbled her words as Tai chimed in the teasing.
"Pretty sure you already rode one giant robot already yesterday. Now you want to have a go on one of those Vikings?" He clicks his tongue with a grin while tuting his daughter. "I'm starting to think that our host's spoiling you at this rate."
"Hey!" Ruby immediately pouts at her parents, as RGQC and the others chuckle at the scene before the realm lord manifests a planet covered in snow and ice in his hand as he gazes into it.
I got something that'll help ya. I called in some favors and got us Viking schematics." Swann explains as the three Vikings on screen changed into their walker form. "Remember, they can change from a jet into a combat walker and back again. Pretty nifty stuff." He concludes before the screen cuts to show several colonial garrisons trying and failing to damage the Purifier at all as it easily cuts them down with its beams as it eviscerates them with ease.
"Did that even do any damage?" Winter could only ask as she frowns before Penny gives her a reply.
"I don't think so, Specialist Schnee… That shield present on that mothership is much more visible than it should be from what we observed from how their plasma shields work." Penny concludes as everyone looks at the realm lord for the explanation, though he simply places his finger on his lips before pointing at the screen without removing his eyes from the frozen planet over his hand.
"RGQC, what are you looking at, and what's so captivating about this planet?" Ironwood asks as the realm lord simply narrows his eyes as if seeing something in it as he breaks away and addresses the General.
"Ah, don't worry about it, I'm just witnessing the last city of New London having some… political issues…"
(Ignore the next few paragraphs until the screen continues, as there are some spoilers for the main campaign of Frostpunk 2.)
(This is your only heads up!)
"New London?" Ilia asks first before Blake joins in as well.
"Political issues?"
"The last city?"
Ren was the last to say his words before the realm lord addresses their confusion. "Ah, by political situations, I mean a minor case of a citywide civil war going on."
"That's, not any better RGQC. What happened?" Ren asks next as the realm lord explains.
"Let's just say that two major factions in New London had enough of one another over ideological reasons and started a full-blown war on one another. The whole conflict started when the official leader, bearing the title of Steward, ignored one of the faction's desire for a different path for New London and they had enough and snapped with one of the delegates murdering another in the opposing faction in cold blood, which sparks a citywide riot and officially starting the civil war."
The realm lord explains with every one blankly staring at RGQC in slight shock. "But enough of this world, we can learn more about it in another time. Let us continue." The realm lord concludes as the screen starts.
"Jim... The Purifier's drawing power from several Protoss Nexus - its shields are completely impenetrable!" Ariel explains as the camera shifts back to show that she turned her head towards the commander with worry. "How can you stop something like that?" She said as the screen cuts back to the star map now displaying a Protoss base.
"Oh… So that means if Raynor takes out those Nexus, that mothership will be vulnerable to damage! Probably needs to take a lot though…" Ruby could only scratch her head as everyone could conclude that the Raiders were going to need a lot of firepower to take down a ship of that size.
"Easy: we knock out those Nexii first, then we take down the Purifier." Raynor concludes before the screen cuts to him standing up straight while still looking at Ariel. "Don't worry Ariel, we'll stop 'em!" And with that, the screen darkens.
"Someone's confident in their skills. Then again, this is Raynor we're talking about." Torchwick mutters, with others sharing the Commander's confidence even though they're going up against a god-damn Purifier mothership! On the plus side, at least the audience knows that Raynor simply needs to take out all three nexii to make it vulnerable to damage.
"He is after all a capable commander, that is no doubt from how we see him command in the previous viewings." Neo chimes in before Emerald did the same.
"Yeah… Even if he makes a mistake, he learns and adapts on the spot."
"Something that is to be admired…" Cinder purrs and ends the conversation.
(Author's head up! The Protoss in this mission will be nerfed for story telling sake because the base game throws quite a number of them plus Void rays and Carriers and Real Scale makes them a pain in the ass to deal with thanks to their hp. Also, let's be honest, lorewise, a handful of Vikings ain't gonna cut it against a single carrier.)
After a period of time, the screen lights up to show Raynor's base up and in action, Star port and Factory begin building their tech-reactor add-ons with SCVs beginning mining operations with a MULE falling from the Hyperion onto the mineral lines. Even more, more colonist refugees can be seen pouring into the decently large settlement not too far away from Raynor's base of operation.
Furthermore, in a fairly electric fenced off location which the audience could see, there are several infested colonists locked within with a decently sized garrison watching them though keeping their distance over fears of catching the virus.
"That's where they're keeping the infected… Justifiable perhaps…" Adam thought to himself.
"He has quite a base set up already. That's good, I believe." Ironwood hums before Ozpin joins into the conversations.
"Yes, and more time to build up his forces and deal with those Nexii, though from how forested and mountainous this terrain is, a mobile air force should be what Mr Raynor needs to deal with the Protoss." Hearing what the headmaster had said, everyone had to agree with him. This would most likely be the battle of the skies from the fact that the Raiders will have to take out a Purifier mothership.
"So Raynor could be going for a mixture of Vikings and Banshees for this mission?" Pyrrha suggests as Penny joins in.
"It seems likely, friend Pyrrha! He would need some way to take out those Nexii, and Banshees can do that well enough!"
With the operation a go, Raynor's Vikings began to fly off while Matt appears on-screen to give some help. "I've located the Protoss Nexuses that are channelling power to the Purifier's shields. We'll have to destroy them before we can stop the Purifier!"
He says as several pings rang out as the screen splits into fours, with three of them showing the three Nexii in their respective bases. Though it was clear that one of them wasn't too far from Raynor's base, and thus, the first target to strike. What's most interesting is that the Protoss base closest to Raynor's position seems to lack pylons and relies mainly on Warp prisms to power their structures.
Much of everyone could only conclude that it must be its rough terrain that limits the use of pylons in that base. While all that was going on, Matt appears once again on the screen, but only this time, he's giving a warning. "Some of the colonists didn't make it to our base in time. We should be ready to assist them when the Protoss attack."
"It seems that not everyone managed to evacuate in time despite the heads-up, that means that Jimmy needs to save them when Selendis sends her army after them." Qrow concludes before frowning. "But gotta a bad feeling that she's about to throw everything she's brought with her at him"
"Same, Qrow." Tai agrees, as does Summer, who simply nods her head in silence.
"No worries, Matt, I'll cover them should they attack them." Raynor says after appearing on the screen as the camera begins to follow Raynor's Vikings as they began launching their lanzer torpedoes at one of the Warp prisms kilometres away. In fact, as soon as the Vikings fired their payload, they immediately turned back to give some time for their torpedoes to reload before flying in to blast the Warp prisms again.
It was also during that time that the camera pans back to Raynor's base to show that another Star port is under construction with more drop pods full of crew coming down to man it as are bunkers, missile turrets and tanks built up. Even more, the add-ons the star port and factory were working on a while back once were done, as both facilities can be seen in production.
"Talk about working fast, I'd say." Neptune hums as the Sun joins in.
"It's remarkable how much coordination Raynor must be doing or how competent his guys are. I can't imagine how it must be like ordering all these people in a few minutes, but this Raynor is doing it with no issue!"
"Yeah, that's true!" Ruby joins in as the screen continues.
As Raynor's base continues expanding, as is his fleet of Vikings, Matt suddenly appears on-screen with a warning as the camera pans away. "Sir! The Purifier has arrived and is on the move!" And truth to his words, far in the distance was the Purifier itself moving fast towards the first settlement in the area despite its immense size.
"It's here already? I thought Raynor would have more time to build up to deal with it!" Coco lost her cool, and the same could be said for the others.
Many of them had assumed that Raynor would have minutes to prepare and deal with the Protoss Nexii before it arrives, but that proves not to help them at all as with the Purifier's appearance, time is of the essence. Les it wipes out all the settlements and heads straight for the last one, which happens to be near Raynor's base of operations.
"Apparently not, it seems." Fox uttered with much of the adults frowning. It appears that the Raiders will have to move fast if they are to stop the Purifier in its tracks before it could wipe everyone out.
"Clearly…" Emerald couldn't help herself but snark as the screen continues
With the Purifier here earlier than expected, much of Raynor's base was kicked into overdrive as the screen quickly pans over to his ever-growing fleet of Vikings as they have successfully cleared the skies of any Protoss Scouts that showed up as well as Warp prisms. For that reason, the first Protoss base was without power and it was easy to destroy its Nexus thanks to its defences down and it close to a cliff.
With the air cleared of enemies, all of Raynor's Vikings swooped down in a V formation before all changed into the assault form on the cliffside and began open firing upon the nexus from a safe location, with much of the Protoss present there unable to attack due to the cliffs. In fact, they were so safe that Raynor's Vikings could attack the Nexus without anyone stopping them.
"Well, that one Nexus will be scrapped soon." Blake observes. "Though I doubt the other two would be easier to destroy, especially with those Void Rays and Carriers in the distance…"
"Yeah." Yang agrees. "And he doesn't have a lot of time before the Purifier wipes out the first settlement in its way. Heck, we can see it floating in the background." And the truth of the blondie's words, the Purifier, could be seen a distance away while Raynor's Vikings chip away at the Nexus. Though that didn't last long when Ariel appeared on-screen and gave her warning.
"The Purifier's coming into range of a colony base!" And truth to her words, the Purifier Mothership is now just above the base, and a large sum of energy can be seen gathering at the bottom of the ship itself. It didn't take a fool to know what's going to happen, as Matt gave a warning.
"Sir! I'm detecting a massive energy spike! The Purifier is about to fire!" And just as everyone has seen it earlier, an incredible volume of teal energy gathers beneath the Purifier before it comes out as a beam of pure power as it begins to burn everyone and everything in the range of it. Trees begin to burn, houses begin to melt instantly from the sheer heat, and all sorts of Fauna scattered for their lives as the intolerable heat from the beam begins to lay waste to everything.
Witnessing another town in the middle being vaporised by the Protoss just serves as another reminder to everyone that the Protoss do not mess around when it comes to the Zerg and to go this far and to glass everything just ensure that nothing survives is a terrifying experience. After all, if hypothetically, they were on Remnant, they could easily wipe most of Remnant's society by simply targeting all four Kingdoms with their Planet Crackers and the rest of Humanity and Faunuskind will succumb to the Grimm with time.
"You know, I'm glad they don't exist in our universe. We already have enough trouble with the Grimm, I can't imagine anyone else taking it well if the Protoss somehow were to be in our world as well." Mercury says his thoughts out, but a look from the realm lord told him everything. "You have got to be kidding me, RGQC. There's a version of Remnant that had the Protoss in it?!"
"Yep. Not like they do anything to anyone when they arrive in your world. They're just silently watching how your civilization grows." The realm lord explains as he glances to the side, "And that time they launched an expedition into Remnant… Something about Xel'naga artefacts. Or was it an underground temple? Hmm… Perhaps I should look back on my archives when I have time… However, finding the specifics will take a while since there are hundreds of thousands of them. Pretty sure one of those universes involved a Tal'darim going there because he was bored and wanted a new challenge."
"Kind of creepy if that's the case, it's like they're watching us like some sort of fish in a terrarium." Sun cringed at the thought as did the others, though others like Ozpin or Ironwood noticed the realm lord's side glance and could only wonder what he was thinking at the moment.
Upon the purification of the first settlement in its way, the Mothership disabled its planet cracker, and what happened next surprised and worried the audience. Immediately as, several Protoss Scouts begin to warp in. Even more so when Matt appears on-screen to give a warning. "Commander, a Protoss squadron is going after the colony ships. Those people don't stand a chance unless we stop it!"
And in truth to his words, the next colony targeted for purification still has its colonists in the middle of their evaluation, with their Hercules drop-ship right in the middle.
Seeing this made the audience concerned, since it is clear that Selendis has zero intentions of letting them run with their lives if she's dispatching a small fleet to destroy the evacuation ships. She wasn't kidding, and the fact genuinely unnerves every one of how alien the Protoss can be in their determination to exterminate any Zerg organisms or viruses, no matter who stands in their way.
"I knew Selendis won't make this easy on him." Jaune mused with a frown. He knows that Raynor won't allow any harm to come to the colonist, but seeing this playing before him still feels wrong. "But to destroy their ships and stop them from fleeing? Is she really going to trap them here before burning them all?"
"That seems to be the case. Though while I think I can see where she's coming from, I believe her methods are too callous to go this far to torch the whole planet." Pyrrha adds in as the screen continues.
Seeing that the next colony settlement's evacuation ship is threatened, Raynor can be heard in the communications as he orders out. "Alright boys, we gotta stop that squadron so that Ariel's people can evacuate. Leave the Nexus behind, I got some Banshees on the way to finish the job." Raynor says, as the camera zooms into one of his Vikings to see a man in a suit in a surprisingly spacious cockpit.
"That's quite the spacious cockpit." Penny observes, with those from Atlas observing every nook and cranny of the cockpit with new ideas brewing in Ironwood and Pietro's mind, while others like Ruby were excited to see more of what the Terrans could show since it's the first time she and the others have seen the interiors of a Viking.
Though it was clear that he's listing to his commander's orders, the pilot still had his eyes still looking straight, with the sound of Twin Gatling Cannons ripping into the Nexus after finally piercing through its plasma shields. "Certainly commander." The pilot utters before giving one hell of a grin. "Alright boys. Fortune favours the bold Vikings! With me!"
The pilot orders as the camera zooms out to show every one of Raynor's Vikings ceasing their attack onto the Protoss Nexus as they all did the most unexpected and jaw-dropping thing to do. All of Raynor's Vikings ran off the cliff. But as they did, they all changed into their fighter mode, and the audience was rewarded with a climatic shot of Raynor's fleet blasting off into the skies one by one and into the distance at speeds that seemed to cause a mini-shockwave behind each of them.
"That."
"Was."
"AWESOME!"
Coco was the first to start the line before Ruby took over and lastly Nora finishes with the others in utter shock at the ballsy and totally unnecessary take off, but they cannot deny that it looks so cool. Well, that's for the younger audiences, anyway.
And as if adding onto the remarkable moment, Raynor's Banshees can be seen flying in and doing a full on bombing run and unleashing their payloads into the Nexus and anything that so happens to be nearby, destroying it utterly as Raynor appears on-screen. "That's one Nexus down, keep at it boys! We've got to stop that ship!"
"One Nexus down, only two more to go." Ozpin hums before taking a sip of his hot cocoa. "Though I doubt the other two Nexii would be as lightly defended as the first." The Headmaster of Beacon mused right as Glynda adds her thoughts in.
"Yes, from what we have seen, there are Void Rays and I believe it is a Carrier in the far distance." She says as everyone nods their heads in agreement. Selendis will not make this easy for the Raiders to stop her.
The screen then pans over towards Raynor's small fleet of Vikings on an interception course with Protoss Scouts at maximum speed and once in range, everyone of Raynor's Vikings let loose their Lanzer torpedoes and the audience were given another climatic shot of tens of torpedoes flying straight for the Scouts who began to perform evasive manoeuvres to avoid damage.
Though a small part of Raynor's alpha strike missed the targets, the majority landed with spectacular explosions erupting all over the Scouts, with even one of them going down from the sudden overwhelming damage it took, though the others were mostly fine thanks to their plasma shields. Now aware of the attack, the Scouts began to turn and move in for an attack, with many of them releasing their own Anti-Matter Missiles, and thus began the first of many battles in the skies to decide the fate of Haven and its people.
Explosions rang out, anti-matter missiles and torpedoes roared in the skies, Vikings and Scouts danced in the skies in dogfights, both displaying their own skill and agility with their craft. But all battles eventually come to an end, with the Protoss terror fleet forced to retreat with much of the initial fleet wiped out.
Though the Raiders managed to avoid casualties, a huge chunk of them were damaged in need of repairs, with one of them critically damaged and had to pull back early or risk falling out of the skies.
(Figured that I should make the terror fleets retreat once enough of them fall in this story since they're not crazy nor suicidal like the Tal'darim under Nyon who would as many bodies into the meat grinder. And knowing how much their lives matter due to the low population, it only makes sense that they will try to prevent as many casualties as possible.)
"Not bad at all…" Adam couldn't help but comment, seeing how these Terran managed to make a much more technologically advanced enemy pull back. Yes, the Raiders do have the numbers advantage, but the fact that they managed to suffer no casualties is impressive.
For a bunch of humans.
"They did it! Without anyone dying!" Ruby cheered as much of the younger audience did the same, with the General smiling at the coordination the Raiders displayed and the surprising amount of insight to order any damaged Vikings to clear some distance to prevent the Scouts from finishing them off.
"Damn right sis! Now time to deal with the other two nexii and then somehow take out the mothership." Yang adds in as the screen continues.
With the threat of the Protoss terror fleet forced to retreat, the civilians cheered as a woman appeared on-screen with a grateful smile. "Thanks Raynor's Raiders! We're gettin' out of here!" And truth to her words, the camera pans to show the hatch doors of the Hercules closing as its engines roared to life and took off before the ship flew towards the direction of the refugee site near the Raider's base.
With them now away from the purification path, Matt appears on-screen to give a report. "The colonists have evacuated the first settlement in the Purifier's path." He explains, before an interesting sight is seen at the now evacuated settlement. "They have also left some resources behind after they evacuated. We should pick them up." And in truth to Raynor's second's words, there were several ballots of minerals and barrels filled with vespene not far from where the Hercules took off and left.
(Author's alert here, I've decided to change Matt's dialogue a bit to help it flow better. Since him repeating the colonist again just sounds weird to me.)
It appears that they either couldn't take those resources with them and chose instead to leave them behind for the Raiders to use, or as a gift of thanks for saving their lives.
"How nice of them to give the Raiders some resources as thanks." Summer smiles at the scene as it reminds her of the time she and her team saved a town from a Grimm attack and they gave some supplies and food as thanks.
"Yeah, the Raiders are gonna need it to take that big old Purifier down." Qrow adds in, with Raven silently nodding her head.
With a moment of reprieve, Raynor's fleet of Vikings flew back towards the base and it has grown quite substantially and they even went past a medivac flying towards the evacuated settlement to pick up those resources since the terrain is too thickly forested and mountainous for conventional movement and transport to take place. As for the Raider's base of operation in Haven, it has grown considerably, in fact.
Now there are multiple star ports churning out an increasing number of Vikings and the occasional Banshees in a three to one ratio, as well as a fully saturated mining operation going on. Furthermore, a line of bunkers with men in them, siege tanks and missile turrets behind them formed a defensive front can be seen on the outer region of the base, and it was clear that Selendis had tried to send her forces directly at Raynor's base since were destroyed remnants of stalkers, and immortals left there with craters as well.
"Talk about fortifying the base…" Ilia blinks in surprise at how fast the Raider's base expanded to this point. Which is true. Even more was the ever-growing size of Raynor's fleet of Vikings at stand by, with hundreds of Raiders running through the base.
"And fleet count." Penny chimes in. "I am under the assumption that this increase in Vikings should allow Mr Raynor to push deeper into Protoss territory and destroy the Nexii, even with either Void Rays or Carriers present overhead." The android concludes right as the screen continues.
Gathering everyone to move onto the next Nexus to their south, the Raider's fleet of Vikings soar off into the distance after getting some much-needed repairs, which was quick as only a handful of them needed repairs while the rest were still in tip-top shape.
Though, they were intercepted by a Void ray that happened to be in the way. In fact, unlike the scout terror fleet sent to deal with the first colonial settlement who were caught off guard by the Raider's interception, the Void Ray detected the Raiders' incoming fleet much farther than the range of lanzer torpedoes and it slowly begins to bring its Prismatic beam to bear towards Raynor's fleet.
"Well, that's not good." Neptune observes nervously as everyone had their eyes on the screen. Though that seems that way, Sun agrees yet disagrees with his partner.
"Yeah, dunno how stuff works here, but I think that beam has a longer range than their torpedoes. But Raynor does have many Vikings right now and I don't think a single Void ray could take out all of them since it can only shoot at one target, it seems."
"So, basically swarm the Void ray with pure numbers?" Weiss chimes in with a raised eyebrow.
"Seems to be this case." Ozpin hums as the screen continues.
Seeing that the Void ray was about to give them the laser treatment, each one of Raynor's Vikings immediately scattered all over the place with no hesitation upon hearing their commander's order through their comms. In fact, everyone could hear him as the camera quickly zooms into a first person view of another Viking pilot.
"Scatter! I want you all to take out that void ray and clear a path for our Banshees to focus on the Nexus!" Raynor orders as the pilot swerves his Viking just in the nick of time because the Void ray finally turns its entire frame to the point it can bring its beam into bear and before long, it fires and barely missed the pilot, whose head turning clearly shows that he's a bit panicked from the close call.
In fact, when he took a quick glance, he could see the beam just tailing behind him as the pilot decided to swerve at an angle that forced the Void ray to adjust its positioning to hit him.
"I can't imagine what he must be feeling with a beam of death tailing him like that." Yang mutters as her friends agree as they watch as the Viking pilot continues to do as many evasive manoeuvres as he could to avoid being hit as that would be an instant death.
While that one Viking pilot's busy keeping the Void ray occupied, the rest of them were pounding the ship to hell and even managed to shatter its plasma shields!
In fact, the dissipation of its shields seemed to have caused the Void Ray to change plans as it 'tries' to fight back, but with the numeral advantage in favour of the Terrans, the Protoss vessel eventually was overwhelmed with its Prismatic core beginning to fail and hull receiving several breaches with torpedoes punching holes into it.
With that, the Void ray in the path finally exploded, with the energies used to power the vessel began to overwhelm the critically damaged hull. Though casualties were suffered on the Raider's side, some Vikings had failed to avoid the deadly beams of the Void ray and were swiftly cut down, though there are others who successfully disengage and retreat to base for repairs.
"Well, that was rough…" Neptune mutters as everyone continues watching as the fleet of Vikings push towards the second Nexus, with Banshees following behind. "If it took that many Vikings to take out just one Void ray, I can't imagine how tough it would be to take out a carrier or even the mothership."
"Yep… Makes me wonder if this world will ever know peace." Ruby mutters before Penny joined in.
"As much as it pains me, friend Ruby, it seems unlikely. The Zerg under Kerrigan will try to consume and assimilate everything they can get, and if they cannot. It is likely the Zerg will destroy them. The Protoss, on the other hand, seemed withdrawn, it appears. Besides this situation, we haven't seen much of them beside the Tal'darim as if they're busy. And lastly, the conflict between the Raiders against the Dominion's tyranny."
"There are so many things wrong in this galaxy, that is true. But one cannot ignore the good that exists in it. Just as Raynor is doing to help the people against Mengsk, or in this case, protecting innocents from an unwanted death from Protoss aggression." Ozpin chimes in as his comment earns an approval from RGQC.
"Yup. Just as your headmaster had said. While the overall situation of the galaxy is not what one would call great, every little helps." The realm lord smiles as the screen continues.
With the path now clear, Raynor's fleet pushed onwards to the second nexus point and fell upon it with a tide of missiles and bullets, with warp prisms being major targets followed by any anti-air units present in the vicinity. And while all that was happening with Raynor's Vikings drawing most of the attention, his Banshees strike hard. Carpet bombing everything and anything that happens to be in the area, with the majority of backlash rockets slamming against the plasma shielding of the nexus.
But with the sudden alpha strike and attack in such a short span of time, Selendis's warriors couldn't muster an effective counter-attack and despite reinforcements warping in to deal with Raynor's fleet, they were too late. With a final explosion echoing the base, the nexus exploded in a shade of teal and golden wreckage, with all of Raynor's fleet pulling out and making their quick getaway before they could take any more casualties.
"Well, I'll be damned, he managed to catch them with their pants down!" Torchwick couldn't help but voice his admiration at what he had witnessed. Even more when the realm lord chimes in.
"As they always say, Strike hard, strike fast, and give no chance for a counter-attack." And his comment earns everyone's nod as the screen continues.
Pulling back after taking out the second nexus, Raynor appears on-screen to congratulate his men on their successful work. "Another Nexus gone, great work! Don't give 'em a chance to regroup!" With that, many of Raynor's Banshees make their way back to base to replenish their missiles, while his Vikings head straight for the third settlement upon his orders.
However, it was also during this time that the Purifier can be seen far in the background arriving at the next settlement as Matt helpfully alerts everyone. "The Protoss have arrived at another settlement, sir."
"RGQC, how many settlements are in this operation zone?" Ironwood spoke with curiosity as the realm lord helpfully addressed his concerns.
"Well, there are five settlements in the operational area, General. One has already been purified with another will be in a couple of seconds from now." Hearing this explanation made the General hum.
"I see… And there is a notable pattern in which the Protoss will send a squadron after the settlements once the Purifier has purified one of them…"
[Correct.] QAI confirmed.
"So that's why Mr Raynor has his Vikings head to the third settlement!" Penny concludes, as did everyone else, before the screen continues.
"With all that happening, and moments in which Raynor's Vikings make their way towards the third settlement, Matt appears once again to give an alert. "Energy output is peaking. The Protoss are going to destroy the second colony base!" In truth to his words, power could be seen gathering beneath the Purifier before it began cleansing everything beneath it of life.
Just as everyone had witnessed it the first time, it's still horrifying to see Protoss Purification in action since their actions literally leave nothing behind but ash and scorched earth behind and as soon as the Purifier is done, more Protoss vessels can be seen warping around it!
Another terror fleet is inbound. However, compared to the first squad that only has scouts to attack the settlement, this one comes with a void ray as well!
"Another squad is coming, and it's got a Void ray with it…" Neo grimace. Before it was just a single void way that could be swarmed with numbers. But this one is covered with scout escorts. It's not going to be easy to simply overrun them with sheer numbers unless they strike it down in a single volley. But frankly, that's difficult with how powerful they know Void rays are, the future battles will no doubt result in increasing casualties.
"It's not going to be easy to stop them, how tough they are individually." Ilia adds in, with Adam nodding his head. It's clear as day to him and everyone else that to defeat Selendis's forces, Raynor will have to swarm her forces five or ten to one to suffer minimal casualties. Void rays and Carriers will no doubt take more than ten, and they don't have a laser of doom to help take them out.
"Alright boys, the next terror fleet is on the way." Raynor appears on-screen as each of his Vikings head straight for the terror fleet while forming up into multiple squads of five in V formation. "Take it out, but do watch out, it's a bigger force compared to the last one." He orders as around fifty Vikings make a direct course towards the second terror fleet.
Though to be expected that unlike last time, Selendis's terror fleet isn't as unwary as the last squad was as they immediately react to Raynor's Vikings moving in from the side. In fact, the Void ray was the first to detect and immediately brought its Prismatic beam into action and fired kilometres away!
"Oh crap!" Sun gawks to see one of Raynor's Vikings be instantly shot down when it had one of its wings straight up, removed from existence when it got grazed by the beam as it began falling onto the ground.
"Looks like it's no longer an alpha strike as it had been just earlier…" Velvet laments the casualties as Coco gently rubs her back while the screen continues.
With plans of interception already disrupted, Raynor's Vikings fired their payloads as another swarm of torpedoes came and began bombarding both the scouts and void ray. Though most of them target the larger Protoss vessel for obvious reasons. As for the Scouts escorting it, they too begin letting lose their anti-matter missiles and another battle in the skies begins.
And unlike last time which Raynor's forces suffered minor casualties since he always goes for an alpha strike to minimise any chance for the Protoss to strike back, this time, the combination of a Void ray and its Scout escorts proved more troublesome than its worth as some of Raynor's Vikings tried to disengage, only to be immediately picked off by either the Scouts or if they were really unfortunate, the Void ray itself.
The only good thing is the rather painless death from it.
In the end, just like the first terror fleet, Raynor's forces managed to wipe them out and buy enough time for the colonists in the third settlement to evaluate as a woman appeared on-screen to give her thanks. "That was a close one! Thanks!" With that, the screen pans to show the Hercules taking off and flying its cargo to a safer location, while at the same time leaving more minerals and gas for the Raiders to take.
"I am under the assumption that the mission will be more difficult as Selendis brings more of the Protoss arsenal against the Raiders." Penny concludes with many of the audience agreeing with her. The only somewhat positive thing in this mission is that the Raiders are still managing to protect the colonists while dealing with the Protoss. Even more is that there isn't as much of a bloodbath in terms of death count compared to some of the previous missions like that one in Korhal.
With Ariel's people safe in the third settlement in the Purifier's path, Matt appears on-screen to give a report as every single on Raynor's Viking pull back to base for some repairs and refitting. "The colonists have successfully evacuated that settlement. Good job everyone."
Though as they make their way back, it comes as a shock that Raynor's base was under assault by the Protoss, but it was not the assault that was shocking. It was the presence of two void rays sieging his base and the air thick with Vikings buzzing around like a swarm of angry bees with constant eruptions of explosions around the two void rays as lanzer torpedoes constantly slammed against their plasma shielding.
(I guess Selendis didn't like me progressing the mission this far, since she threw a decently size attack at my base and two fucking void rays! Like the fuck! I'm just glad at that moment, she didn't throw a carrier at me.)
"Oh dear." Ozpin blinks in a hint of shock, seeing that there are two void rays besieging Raynor's base. "Where did they come from?" The Headmaster of Beacon then wonders before RGQC shrugs.
"Protoss can warp in their forces anywhere that has a power field. Alternatively, they came from the last base while the Raiders were busy dealing with the second terror fleet." It was then that the realm lord pulled out a weapon that looked like a mixture of a sword and a chain saw before dissipating it from his hand. Though, this did earn the curious eyes of Ruby.
"What was that weapon you're holding just now, RGQC?" She asks with enthusiasm, while RGQC smiles and summons it again.
"Oh this?" The realm lord twirls it while still on his chair. "This is a chainsword. A single 'bladed' weapon that originates from a brutal universe. Known to be an extremely deadly and iconic weapon of the factions in that universe, and useful for grinding away armour and ripping targets brutally into pieces." He says as lets the chainsword brrrs to life.
"How is that weapon supposed to work? Its design doesn't make any sense to me nor sound practical to me, at least…" Weiss mutters as she earns an amused look from the realm lord, while Ruby and some others have sparkles in their eyes.
"Well… Seeing how your world has someone who turned a Trumpet into a weapon and other things not intended as weapons into one, I don't think the people on Remnant have any excuse." The realm lord smirked as the chainsword disappeared from his grip and the screen continued.
Seeing that their base of operations is threatened, the camera pulls, and another battle occurs over the skies, thought much of the colonist who had only just arrive have to get to cover and soon, those two Void Rays were dealt with and eliminated through sheer numbers since they were by themselves once their supports were crushed swiftly.
Though some time needed to be taken to rebuild and repair, Raynor has accumulated what some could conclude as a critical mass of Vikings, since he now has over a hundred and fifty of those ships ready and one hell of a fleet. However, this delay Selendis pulled off allowed the Purifier to close in on the third base.
"Scares me how easily it is that it only took two Void rays to slow Raynor's base temporarily." Blake could help but speak her thoughts as her mother joins in.
"Yes… Truly, it's a miracle that Mr Raynor can keep up with them."
"And thank goodness he gets Vikings on this mission. They're responsible for aiding his defence in this mission." Ghira adds in last as everyone watches on.
"They've almost reached the next base, hurry!" Ariel cried out, but then, Raynor did something unexpected. He orders all of his Vikings to head straight for the last Nexus, with his Banshees further back. Though, it was clear that this last base would be tricky since a Carrier just warped in. The commander only has a few minutes before the Purifier glasses the third settlement and he's going to take a gamble.
(Which I actually did, since it's becoming difficult to see and slightly laggy thanks to that Purifier mothership taking up most of the screen and me pumping out so many Vikings and just enough Banshees for this mission.)
"Is Raynor doing what I think he's doing?" Qrow mutters out before Summer joins in.
"You mean going all in to take out the last Nexus? Yes. I think that's what he's doing."
"That's incredibly risky of him, since if he doesn't pull back soon enough, the fourth base would be exposed to a Protoss attack." Robyn adds in with everyone agreeing with her. After all, if things went the way they expected it to go, the fourth settlement would be in danger of losing their evacuation ship once the Purifier was done drilling a hole into the planet with its laser.
"Still… I don't think this is a good plan to do right now." Ruby soon expressed her worry before Zwei barked and crawled onto her lap to comfort her, though this also made Blake leaned away in fear over having that corgi that close to her.
"I don't know, Ruby, I think Raynor intends to have his Vikings distract the Protoss while his Banshees go straight for the Nexus. Seems to be the case from what I can tell…" Jaune explains while scratching his head as Adam finally says something. Though it's rather brief.
"Most logical strategy with the time given to execute it. Even more if done perfectly." With concerned glances among the viewers, the screen continues.
Kicking their thrusters to overdrive at their commander's orders, all of Raynor's Vikings sped through the skies at such speeds that they broke the sound barrier with the sky filled with the roaring of engine and the camera barely able to follow them as they zoom past at unparalleled speeds never seen before by everyone.
In fact, the blasting noise would have rendered those with enhanced hearing deaf if it wasn't for QAI's quick actions and lowering the overall audio. But it was still loud enough to sting their ears.
"That really hurt! What the hell was that RGQC?" Sun groaned as he rubbed his ears, with the other Faunus agreeing with him.
"That," The realm lord points at the screen. "Is a phenomenon known as breaking the sound barrier. It's when an object, in this case Vikings, travels faster than the speed of sound at 343 metres per second. (1,125 feet per second) So, when one exceeds this speed, it creates shock waves, leading to a phenomenon known as a sonic boom." RGQC explains.
"How fascinating!" Penny wasn't the only one to find this information very interesting, since everyone one Remnant uses Airships for aerial transport. In fact, ever since they started watching this world, Ironwood and Pietro have an idea to develop a new aircraft based on what they saw. After all, a jet boosted plane is much faster than an airship, but also more dangerous from what they had seen so far.
"Truly is. I think if such technology is available, it could revolutionise air travel." Weiss hums as she nods her head before her sister joins in.
"Agreed. Though I suspect that such technology would be disorienting for Faunus and might lure Grimm with how absurdly loud it can be." The Specialist points out, and there is some truth to that. Pretty much every single Faunus reacted negatively to the sudden sonic boom, and while those who are Human did react to the loud noise, they just weren't as affected by it compared to the others.
Going faster and beyond the sound barrier, Raynor's Vikings dive like a swarm of murder hornets towards the last Protoss nexus and straight for the Carrier that began to unleash its interceptors, but they were not deterred and unleashed hell with their torpedoes with hundreds of them diving straight for a single point of the carrier to drill a hole into it.
With that, the battle over the final nexus begins with the air thick with interceptors and Vikings engaging in dogfights with the carrier there as well as a few scouts in the midst. But while all this was happening, the camera pans over to show several cloaked banshees slipping in through the cracks of battle and, with cloaking, avoiding detection. In fact, the Protoss seemed so distracted with Raynor's Viking assault that they failed to pay attention to Raynor's Banshees moving in quietly.
"I see…" Ozpin hums with intrigue before taking a short sip. "His attempt might work, should it go as planned."
"Daring, I would say." Glynda chimes in with the others agreeing as they continue watching.
Moving in for the kill, Raynor's Banshees finally unleashed their payloads into the nexus and caught much of the Protoss off guard. But thanks to the Swarms of Vikings which were beginning to take their toll on the carrier, Selendis's forces couldn't muster the forces needed to stop and protect the last nexus shield. And soon, with a final explosion echoing the battlefield, the final nexus goes down to the cheers of everyone!
"Yes! The final nexus is down!" Ruby cheers, alongside many others, Raynor's gamble to go straight for the Nexus while his Vikings distracted the Protoss fleet was a success! Now all that is left is to stop the Purifier before it can do more damage.
"Yeah!" much of the younger audience cheered at this growing success, even more so Matt appears on-screen to give the call.
"The Purifier's shields are offline sir! Hit it now!" He says as everyone attacking the third Protoss base begins to withdraw as the screen cuts to the Purifier mothership over what's left of the third settlement as its outer shields flicker and shut off. Though, it still shocked everyone that the purifier left a huge scorched hole where the settlement used to be behind!
"Holy… I didn't expect to see that…" Tai mutters with his eyes notably wider at the size of that hole the Purifier made.
"I was under the assumption it would just burn the place, not drill a hole!" Torchwick spat his drink a bit right as Neo passed him a small towel.
"Yeah. Quite the shocking sight… I think one of these can burn the entire Kingdom with one blast…"
"Yeah… thanks for the nightmare fuel…" Neptune quipped.
With the Purifier now exposed, it suddenly began warping in more escorts as two void rays and several scouts and phoenixes began to warp around as the camera suddenly panned and gave everyone an overhead of the entire operational area. Which was considerable due to the distances between the bases, settlements and nexii.
"Wait, what's happening?" Nora was the first to speak her mind at the sudden different angles, before RGQC simply points at the screen and returns back to fiddling around with the frozen planet in his hand.
Soon, however, everyone sees it, Raynor's performing a pincer movement with those who engaged the third Protoss base now heading straight for the Purifier from the south while reinforcements came straight from Raynor's base from the north with the Purifier right in the middle. It is clear to all that the Raiders have full intention of attacking from two directions in an effort to not only overwhelm the Purifier's escorts from all sides, but the Purifier itself, since everyone remembered how powerful a mothership is from their memories of the dark future.
With the final battle on its course, it began with the Purifier unleashing its beam weapons to bear with scouts, phoenixes and void rays moving in to engage with the Raiders doing the same and unleashing everything they had. Anti-matter missiles, torpedoes, Prismatic beams and purifier beams dot the skies as the largest battle on Haven begins!
Vikings were blown to bits or shot down, Phoenixes and scouts blew up into chunks of wreckage or crashing and burning, and explosions rocked the Void ray and Purifier's plasma shielding. It was utterly chaotic, to say the least. And yet, the Raiders are slowly winning the tide of battle through sheer firepower and numbers, despite rising casualties. It got even more complicated when the Purifier brought one of its abilities to bear and summoned a vortex that began sucking everything in its range.
"Oh crap! I forgot motherships can use that ability!" Coco cursed for a second, with many others either expressing concern over the sudden use of this ability or frowning if you're Ironwood. Penny quickly joins in as she throws her thoughts into the matter.
"I am under the assumption the Protoss are using this ability to make things more 'manageable' to deal with."
"Yup." RGQC confirms with a nod as the screen continues.
Seeing that at least two thirds of the total Vikings engaging the Purifier mothership and its escorts were temporarily out of the battle, Matt appears on-screen to give a report. "Whoa! The Purifier has sent our units into a dimensional warp field! The effect should only be temporary, though."
(This is the truth btw, that mothership used Vortex and temporarily neutralised like the majority of my Viking fleet. Which isn't good since there's still void rays on the field and the Purifier itself.)
"Got it, but some of my boys are in trouble now." And in truth to Raynor's words, with the overall Viking numbers suddenly cut by two-thirds, the remaining Vikings that managed to avoid the vortex were taking more casualties thanks to the Protoss now able to focus their attack.
"Not good…"
Yang muttered as another Viking got shot down on screen when its engine received an anti-matter missile as her partner nodded her head."Clearly… He had the numbers advantage, but that vortex changed it. For now at least."
"On the plus side, I think there's still more reinforcements joining the battle." Ilia adds in, and that is true as more Vikings in small groups join the engagement.
Thankfully, the vortex only lasts for a couple of seconds before its effect ends and all of Raynor's Vikings who were sucked in earlier were suddenly spat back out into real space and most were only disoriented for several seconds before they refocused and engaged Selendis's forces again.
And with the sudden return of most of Raynor's Vikings and as expected at this point, much of the Protoss escorts meant for the Purifier were swiftly shot out of the skies despite more being warped in by the Purifier and even it's mighty plasma shields were eventually pierced by constant barrages of torpedoes.
In the end, the combined effort of swarms of Vikings proved too much for the Purifier to fend off, despite a carrier warping in which caught everyone off guard initially. And with a final explosion erupting from the core of it, the mothership began sinking towards the hole before exploding into a ruined hull that conveniently fell into the hole it made.
"They did it! They're saved!" Sun and many others cheered at the Raynor's success in taking down the Purifier, right as the others had their mood dipped from the potential crew deaths aboard the Purifier.
Thankfully, that appears not to be the case when RGQC adds in.
"If any of you are curious, all personnel aboard the Purifier managed to warp out before it got destroyed. So if any of you worry about the potential casualties, I don't think you will have to worry much." He chimes in as sighs of relief wash over everyone.
"It is done." Pietro concludes with Robyn agreeing with the Chief Scientist.
"Yes it is now with that Purifier destroyed."
With the Purifier destroyed, much of Selendis's forces were pulling back as the camera shows that there was more fighting raging else where an in fact, Selendis's personal carrier can be seen disengaging losing battle alongside much of its escorts, with the Raynor's Vikings dealing blow after blow to any Protoss that chose to stay behind and fight, right as Ariel appears on-screen.
"The Protoss are retreating! You've done it!" Ariel voices her joy that her people were not going to be purified and would hopefully be left alone after this day. In fact, it was at this point Selendis herself appeared on-screen to give her congratulations, which was surprising for those who weren't expecting it as the screen cuts to show the colonists celebrating at the Raiders's success at pushing.
"You are as cunning as the stories say, James Raynor. I hope your belief in these colonists will be vindicated." And with that, the screen darkens, with Ariel's people free to live for another day.
"Well, minus the number of losses, it was strangely heart-warming to see Raynor standing up for those in need." Summer smiles at the scene right as Zwei barks as if almost agreeing with her.
"Yep. Though I cannot lie about how long this peace would last." Tai wonders right as his ex-wife adds in.
"If it worries you, hopefully long enough for Raynor's revolution to be complete."
"True." Though, to the surprise of many, the screen suddenly lights up again.
Hyperion airlock 36
14:22 - Shipboard time.
As soon as those words fade away, the screen slowly fades back up to show an airlock opening up as both Ariel and Raynor walk into the next compartment as the commander addresses her with a soft theme playing in the background. "So I guess this is goodbye, Doc." He says as the camera cuts to his face. "I know you got a lot of cleaning to do up there."
"Hang on, she's leaving?" Nora sounds almost disappointed to hear this. "I liked her."
"I think we all do, Nora. She's been on this journey with the Raiders for weeks, I think." Jaune agrees.
"True." The invincible girl nods her head. "I suppose nothing lasts forever."
"Indeed." Ren adds in lastly as the screen continues.
Raynor then smiles at her as the camera cuts to Ariel as she simply agrees. There's a lot to clean up after this situation with the Protoss. "We'll manage somehow. I just hope you boys stay out of trouble." She then glances down before looking back at the man who saved her people. "Those Protoss are bound to be upset."
"Seeing how Selendis reacts, I honestly doubt that's the case." Robyn points out.
"Indeed Miss Hill." Ironwood agrees.
The camera then cuts back to Raynor as he takes a cigar box out of his pocket and shakes it a bit. "Well, me and the Protoss go way back. I've helped them out a few times." He then held the cigarette box near his mouth. "Figure they might cut me some slack." The camera then cuts to an angle to show Raynor taking a cigarette with his mouth as the door opens to show Haven in its green beauty as the doctor takes a step out.
Only to pause for a moment before taking her glasses out and looking back at the man who saved her people thrice at this point. "You know, you could always stay here." Ariel softly spoke as the camera cut to her glasses. "Settle down, make a new start."
"Someone's in love." Fox couldn't help but chuckle before Weiss chimes in.
"After saving her people not once, or twice, but thrice, I understand why she would fall for him. Raynor's a good man, despite everything he's been through." Yet, hearing this response made RGQC audibly snort as if he knows something funny and, as expected, that earned him looks.
"Oh nothing, don't mind me. I've simply been reminded that I saw a version in which you fell over someone after what they have done for you and others." The realm lord says with a sly grin as the Schnee Heiress blushed in response. Of course, this earned the attention of those who are close or knew Weiss, since she's never fallen over someone from what they knew of her.
"Can you tell us who she fell for?" Yang asks with a grin, though the Heiress protests quickly.
"Hey! You can't just ask him like this while I'm here!"
"Well, since this takes place in an alternative Remnant and for your sake, I can and all I'll say is that this person personally saved your life at nearly their cost and never asked for anything back. In addition to doing everything they could just for your and everyone's sake." RGQC explains, with much of the cast blinking in response.
"Well, what do you know? Ice Queen's heart actually warmed up!" Nora smirks with glee, as did Yang, while Weiss could only blush in response.
"Really?"
"Yup, though I think this would come as a surprise, but this person's a Faunus." RGQC adds in before descending into a laughing fit upon witnessing everyone's jaw dropping at the fact that this alternative version of Weiss fell for a Faunus.
"That's… unexpected…" Adam blinked as the bull Faunus can be seen pulling his mask off his face and giving the weirdest look he has ever given to the Schnee Heiress. After all, hearing that the heiress of his most hated company falling for a Faunus was not what he expected.
"Yeah… Never thought I would hear a day of a Schnee falling for a Faunus…" Ilia throws her thoughts into the matter. As for Weiss, she sounds more like a garbled fish trying to speak with her cheeks a shade of red while Winter narrows her eyes at the realm lord. Clearly he's not telling the whole picture and she cannot deny her sister-instinct to protect her little sister from whoever this person she fell for in that alternative Remnant.
"Well, enough of that fun fact, we're almost done." RGQC says as he points at the screen.
Listening to Ariel's offer only made Raynor let out a soft laugh as he took his cigarette out of his mouth. "Guys like me don't get second chances, darlin'. We just gotta finish what we begun." Raynor clarifies as the camera cuts to Ariel looking down at her glasses before looking at him halfway through his explanation as she did something he didn't expect.
As soon as the camera cuts back to Raynor putting his cigar back into his mouth, Ariel leans in and kisses him on the cheek, which surprises the commander and makes him drop his cigarette. The camera then follows Ariel as she takes several steps away before putting on her glasses and giving one last sombre yet happy smile to the man who saved her people.
"You're a good man, Jim Raynor." And with that, Ariel makes her departure as the airlock closes behind her, before the camera slowly pans to Raynor picking up his cigar with a soft smile on his face.
"Hmph. I ain't that good." With that, Raynor puts the cigar into his mouth before the screen cuts black.
With that, the theatre lights came back on"Well that is heart-warming." Pyrrha smiles as she rests her hand on her chest. "No matter how much he denies it, I agree with Ariel, Raynor is a good man."
"Yes, friend Pyrrha, I think the same as you do!" Penny agrees with pretty much everyone who shares the same thought. No matter how much of the Dominion tries to demonise him as nothing more than a terrorist, there will always be people who know the real Jim Raynor, the man who is the hero to the people and the man fighting the good cause.
"Well I'm delighted to see you all enjoying this viewing, you are all free to-" RGQC's phone suddenly lets out a jingle as the realm lord pulls it out and reads through it. "Oh for the love of- not again!" He groaned.
"Is something wrong, RGQC?" Kali asks as the realm lord nods his head slowly.
"My sister thought it would be incredibly funny to send another… person to join us." The realm lord lets out another irritated groan while rubbing his forehead. "I swear to god, Clara, you're going to give me more headaches than it's worth…"
"And who is this 'person' joining us?" Cinder asked with a raised eyebrow as RGQC shook his head.
"Well, that person is arriving just about… now." And he finishes his sentence, a portal about a metre and a half long emerges horizontally in the air not too far away from the realm lord before that person comes out of it and lands 'somewhat' gracefully on their feet, only to fall flat on their face.
At first glance, everyone could recognise that the basic colours of this new individual involves white, blue and violet, it was this person's appearance that attracted their attention. In fact, that person clearly has white hair kept neatly as well as fox ears on his head and shockingly enough, seven white fox tails!
What was even more off-putting was that as soon as they kissed the floor, those fox traits immediately faded away into nothing, as if they didn't exist in the first place. As if that weren't enough, was his outfit, which resembles a mixture of Mistral and Atlas culture. In fact, it looks like a suit from Atlas with Mistral-based designs and patterns with a unique metal piece made from silver on his shoulder that is unrecognisable to everyone on what it is supposed to represent.
Furthermore, this person turns out to be a young man, probably in his late teens judging from his looks and, interestingly enough, has heterochromia eyes with his right eye being a shade of light blue and the left a shade of gold as soon as he slowly pried his face off the floor.
Strangely enough, he also looks a bit like Weiss if she was a guy instead of a girl.
"Ow…" He groaned. "That's what I get for messing with Dust without supervision…. Mother's going to kill me if she hears of this." He continues muttering to himself and stands up, only to finally take notice of everyone looking straight at him, with RGQC standing right behind him with a raised eyebrow and arms behind his back.
" …am I interrupting something?" He asks.
"No, not really…" Ruby mutters as the young man finally notices Ruby and gives her and Weiss a baffled look. "You just happen to drop in, I think?"
"Oh?" The young man blinks again before finally realising that there's someone standing right behind him and turns to face him.
"Welcome, your entrance to my realm is unexpected." RGQC blankly said. But I digress, you're in a safe place if you are concerned. Though an introduction would be nice."
"Right… Why do you look like him?" The young man asks, while the realm lord shakes his head with a soft smile.
"A story for another time. That's all I will say."
While all this was going on, everyone else was whispering to each other about this new person suddenly here. "Is it me, or does he look a bit like you Weiss?" Blake whispers into her teammate's ears, while the Schnee heiress could only stare at the young man talking to RGQC.
"Yeah, he does… could it be that he's-"
"Your alternative universe kid? He's quite the handsome one, you know?" Yang chimed in, while Weiss could only softly squawk at her teammate's comments before the young man turned to everyone and gave an introduction.
"I suppose an introduction is in order." The young man says as he brushes his suit before giving a formal bow to everyone. "I am Nicholas Schnee. Firstborn son of Weiss Schnee and heir to the newly formed Kingdom of Lunaris Solara. A pleasure to meet you all."
…
…
"SON?!"
"Newly formed Kingdom?!"
"Ah… talk about déjà vu…" The realm lord muses while silently chuckling to himself, with everyone stunned at Nicholas's introduction.
And cut! God, this chapter took too fucking long! I started this chapter in late September, and now look at the time it took! An entire month plus, all because of my procrastination powers and two prominent games I've been excited about coming out and taking my time!
Another guest OC is introduced. Now it's Weiss's turn to know what it is like to have a kid around the same age as she is. Furthermore, it's about time this story's done and I hope you all liked it because I've wasted too much time lazing around instead of doing something productive during the school holidays.
Besides that, I think I'm done talking and have nothing else to say. I hope you enjoyed this chapter. And other than that, if you like my story, follow and favourite me if you want this story! If you want to see more. Next on my work list, probably Crimson's Crusade…
RGQC out!
