Here is the final chapter. Thanks to everyone for reading. Hopefully post a new story soon

No one except Jayne batted an eyelid when Steve and Kate appeared in the hotel dining room, hand in hand at breakfast.

The two best friends caught each other's eye. Jayne gave Kate a knowing smile to which Kate gave an exasperated eye roll.

"Judging by the enormous smiles on both your faces this morning, I'm guessing you had a very good night," Jayne probed as she caught up to Kate at the continental breakfast spread.

"Yes we did, thank you for asking," Kate admitted brazenly.

"Good for you," Jayne replied. "So does this mean that you two are a couple now?".

"Yes," Kate answered before turning to face her friend. "He's moving in," she revealed, watching to see how Jayne took the news.

"Wow," Jayne said, surprised. "You two don't hang about, do you?".

"I know it's quick," Kate said, "but we've been through a lot. Other couples might split up after going through what we have. We're lucky. We've grown closer,".

"Are you happy?" Jayne asked.

"Yes I am," Kate answered truthfully.

Jayne could see from her friends demeanour that she was being honest. There was something about her aura that could only come from being happy.

"Well I'm happy for you then," Jayne said as she gave her friend a big hug.

"What time are you off?" Kate asked as they broke apart.

"Check out is 11 am," Jayne said. "I'm going to be lucky to make it before that,".

"Me too," Kate said as she looked at her watch. They had an hour and a half to eat and clear their room. Her and Steve had woken late and only managed to shower together before heading to breakfast.

"So you'll be there to wave us off?" Jayne asked. Her and Rich were heading straight to the airport from the hotel to begin their honeymoon.

"Of course we will," Kate replied before the friends headed to their respective partners to have their meal.

The wedding party congregated in the hotel reception area just before 11 am to join the queue to check out.

From there they all headed to the car park to say farewells and wave the newly weds off on the start of their life together.

"I little bird tells me that you'll be needing this," Jayne said as she and Steve took their turn at saying goodbye.

Steve looked at Jayne's outstretched hand and saw a key dangling from it. Her old key to her and Kate's flat.

"Thanks," said Steve as he took the key from Jayne. He recognised it was her way of giving her blessing to Steve moving in.

Jayne looked around before saying her next words. Kate was out of ear shot giving a hug to Rich which was good as she had a little duty to perform as best friend. "Look after her," she instructed Steve.

"I will," Steve promised.

"And if you ever hurt her, you'll have me to answer to," Jayne threatened gently.

"I won't," Steve vowed.

"I know," Jayne admitted. "Now that's out of the way you can give me a hug," she said and Steve was soon doing as told.

"Should I be jealous?" Rich teased as he and Kate approached the hugging pair.

"No mate," Steve said as he released Jayne and shook hands with Rich allowing Jayne and Kate to hug.

"Have a fantastic trip," Kate said.

"We will," Jayne replied. "We'll have to come round when we're back,".

"Kate's got a few ideas on redecorating," Steve said as he placed an arm around Kate.

"Oh yeah?" Jayne said as she took her husband's hand. "Well good luck with that," she said to Steve, knowing how bad at DIY Kate was. They'd had a few disasters when they had moved in together.

The newly weds got in their car and with a toot of their horn they set off. Their friends and family began to disperse once they were out of sight.

"What do we do now?" Kate asked as her and Steve slowly walked to their car.

"I think we go home," Steve said.

"I like the way that sounds," Kate admitted after Steve had talked of the flat as their home.

"And maybe you can tell me exactly what these decorating ideas are," Steve added as they got in the car. "It sounds like you have big plans,".

"Not too big," Kare retorted. "But it sounds like a good idea. I think we should start in the bedroom," she said.

Steve looked at Kate. Her cheeks had gone a very endearing shade of red. There wasn't going to be much decorating talk had when they got home he knew.

Without a word he started the engine and put the car in reverse. Suddenly he wanted to get to the flat as quickly as possible.
