CHAPTER 6
Back with Aslan and the Dragonets of Destiny, plus SkyWing Peril and minus Starflight, the dragons were introduced to the Pevensie Children: Peter and Edmund, Sons of Adam, and Susan and Lucy, Daughters of Eve. Aslan was going to ask the children if they knew anything about the criminals from Pyrrhia. Peter answered, saying all he knew about was Morrowseer the NightWing.
"You study Pyrrhia?" asked Clay.
"I've been studying Pyrrhia for a long time." responded Peter to Clay. "In fact, when I first found out about the Pyrrhian dragons coming to Narnia…I've decided to learn more about the tribes. What I found out was that the NightWings were mysterious dragons, and the RainWings were described and stereotyped as 'lazy and stupid'. But I personally don't think that about RainWings." said Peter.
"But you've just started studying our tribe." said Glory.
Peter then turned around. "Are you a RainWing?" asked Peter.
"I am." responded Glory. "My name is Glory, the RainWing dragonet of destiny."
"But I thought your prophecy called for a SkyWing dragonet…" thought Susan.
"Our SkyWing died in the egg." said Clay. "From…what we were told…"
"I see." said Susan. "Speaking of which, the queen of the SkyWings is here, too." she mentioned.
"We know." said Peril. "Aslan…got rid of my firescales." said Peril.
As Peter questioned what firescales was, Peril answered that "it's a dangerous condition in twin SkyWing eggs". After Susan asked Peril if she was one of those firescales dragons, Aslan answered, saying that he used an animus enchanted necklace to get rid of the firescales in Peril.
"Oh, I see." said Lucy. "so we can touch Peril without getting burned?"
"Only when she is wearing that necklace." Aslan responded.
Lucy walked over to Peril. Peril walked over to Lucy. Peril allowed Lucy to pet her.
"You seem like a nice dragon…with metallic copper scales." Lucy proclaimed.
"Why thank you." said Peril.
"Ouch!" yelled Lucy.
"What?" asked Peril. "Oh! My necklace!" she yelled.
"I got it." Clay said.
Clay put Peril's necklace back on her.
"There. I tightened it." said Clay.
The scenery later got darker and darker. Morrowseer was right above everyone.
"Oh, no…" said Glory.
"Morrowseer…" said Clay. "He doesn't look happy."
Morrowseer later landed.
"What is going on here?" asked Morrowseer.
"Oh, dear lord…" said Peter. "What does he want now?"
"Where's Starflight?" asked Sunny.
"Don't worry. He is safe and sound." said Morrowseer as he presented a animus enchanted crystal ball.
"Starflight!" yelled Clay and the rest of the Dragonets of Destiny.
"He's missing?" asked Peter.
"I have him, tiny Narnian." said Morrowseer to Peter.
"Oh, no…" said Glory.
"If you want Starflight back, come to the White Witch's palace." said Morrowseer. "He's on display over there. And if you do come, I would like to introduce you to the 'backup' Dragonets of Destiny. The ones that are supposed to follow the prophecy." Morrowseer said as he flew away. Peter later sighed.
"What are we gonna do?" asked Edmund.
"We'll go over there." said Clay. "However, it'll just be me. And Peril, too." said Clay.
"We'll wait here, Clay." said Tsunami.
Clay and Peril later flew away.
Back with Starflight, he was in a cage while the White Witch looked at him. Morrowseer later returned.
"I would like my backup Dragonets of Destiny." said Morrowseer to the White Witch.
"Yes, Morrowseer." said the White Witch. "I'll go get them."
Jadis the White Witch later went to get Morrowseer's backup dragonets of destiny. There, Morrowseer introduced them to Starflight properly and officially. However, four of them took an instant dislike to Starflght. Only Fatespeaker liked him.
"So, what do you think of my Dragonets of Destiny?" asked Morrowseer.
Starflight did nothing but growl.
"Hah!" laughed SandWing Viper. "What is that thing? A NightWing? Do you have powers? If you do, read my mind! Or, how about this? Who is going to be the next NightWing Queen?"
"Hey! Stop making fun of him!" yelled Fatespeaker. She later walked over to Starflight. "It's okay." said Fatespeaker. "My name's Fatespeaker. And…I have something to tell you. NightWings that hatch under moonlight gain powers when they are born. Were you hatched under moonlight?" she asked.
Starflight nodded side to side, later stating that he hatched in a cave with no moonlight exposed.
"Oh…I see." said Fatespeaker.
"Fatespeaker! Step away from this powerless and weakened NightWing dragonet." said the White Witch. "He is my artwork." she proclaimed.
"Yes, White Witch." said Fatespeaker. "Just as soon as I ask him one more thing."
"I forbid it!" yelled the Witch.
Fatespeaker later walked away.
"What is going on over here?" asked Queen Scarlet.
"Ah, Queen Scarlet, Princess Burn," spoke the White Witch, "perfect timing." she said. "Fetch my IceWings. The ones I am keeping in slavery."
Scarlet went to fetch the IceWings.
"And Burn, fetch Horizon. The SandWing taken out of Blaze's army and sent to me." said the White Witch.
"At once, White Witch." said Burn.
Burn went to fetch Horizon the SandWing.
Greatness, Battlewinner's daughter, later arrived.
"How is the Queen doing?" asked Morrowseer.
"She is doing alright as we speak, Morrowseer." said Greatness. "However, I decided to bring a few of her NightWing soldiers along."
"Ah, yes." said the White Witch. "More NightWings. The ones I am obsessed with the most."
"So you are obsessed with NightWings?" asked Scarlet after coming back with six IceWings.
"Yes. They are mysterious and powerful; a limited few can read minds or foretell the future." said the White Witch. "I hope the NightWings that are sent to me have powers!" she yelled.
"Hmph." said Morrowseer. "I hope Greatness listened to you."
"And I did." said Greatness. "Three of them can read minds, and the other three can read the future." she stated.
"Then I accept." said the White Witch. "Start off by using them to exterminate the lazy, stupid RainWings." ordered the White Witch.
They did not know that Clay and Peril were watching everything from afar. With Peril having excellent hearing skills, she heard everything.
"We have to report back to our friends and Aslan." said Peril.
"What else did they say?!" asked Clay.
"They want to exterminate the RainWings." said Peril. "For being lazy and stupid!"
As Clay gasped, he later flew away with Peril.
"What was that?!" asked Princess Greatness."
The White Witch and Morrowseer later stepped outside. Little did they know that Fatespeaker would let Starflight free while they were not looking.
"Peril!" yelled the White Witch.
"I knew she betrayed me." said Scarlet.
"What will you do, Scarlet?" asked SandWing Burn.
"Hmph." Scarlet grunted. "Jadis, Burn, come with me." she ordered.
Jadis the White Witch and Burn later followed Scarlet.
