Hey guys I'm DJ! Haven't really written anything in a while! I just got into Macgyver (2016) and think it's a great show! I'm so upset it got canceled . There was so much more potential between Mac and Riley!

Anyways, Here's my first fic of Macgyver! Just a heads up, it tackles a lot of mature themes, and may trigger some who've gone through similar situations.

Disclaimer: I do not own any of there awesome characters!!

Chapter 1

Mac comes into the phoenix war room ready to be debriefed on the mission he and Desi had just come back from. It had been a month of long hard undercover work, but it had been worth it. Terrorist Lisa Zeitler was now in Phoenix custody, shortly being transferred to the CIA as they spoke.

He sits down taking a paperclip into his hand. "So what've you guys been up to? You miss us?" He grins, playfully tossing the paperclip up and down.

He frowns when he's met with silence.

"Mac we need to talk." Matty says.

"Yea we do, actually! Me and Desi absolutely crushed this mission! Which means Russ and I won the bet. Turns out it's much easier to work together when you're not dating." He shrugs smiling, "who would've thought."

Bozer's slight smile quickly narrows into a thin line.

Mac eyes Matty on the screen and shifts his gaze from Russ back to Bozer. Russ grimaces and face palms as Bozer calmly walks over to Mac.

"You might want to sit down." He tells him.

"Okkayyy," he says, slowly dragging the word out,

and narrowing his eyes at the screen, "is everything okay? What's going on?" His stomach drops, "and where's Riley?"

Bozer points to the screen as Matty takes a deep breath.

"She was on a mission when it happened."

Confusion immediately paints Mac's face.

"When what happened? What mission? I thought we were all focusing on Zeitler? Is she hurt?" He demands as the questions sputter out of him.

"Mac, please just let me finish." She shakes her head, trying to conceal her running mascara.

"She went undercover."

He nods, anxiously waiting for an explanation.

"With Amil Axel."

He springs up, knocking over a nearby table. "I told you!" He points towards the screen, " I told you not to take that job! It was too risky. I warned you about Amil! But you didn't listen!"

Matty lets a few tears flow now, sorrow stealing her response for the moment.

Bozer tries to grab Mac but he flinches to the touch, swiftly snatching his arm away.

His head drops in defeat after trying to conciliate his best friend, this was a Mac he had yet to see.

"Look Mac, she's just trying to help, we all are."

"Well then don't send people to their deaths!" He uses his hands for emphasis, "I still have nightmares about him. Scars, mental and physical," his eyes widened , " He tortured me for hours on end. I didn't know if I-"

Mac closes his eyes, trying to fight the growing tension behind his eyeballs, and the upcoming raspiness in his voice.

Bozer holds out his hands, openly and emphatically, shaking his head,"You never told me-"

"It's not something I like to revisit." He crosses his arms, refusing to look anywhere but his shoes.

"Mac, please we have to focus, we have to remain calm." Matty says, "for Riley."

"Stay calm?!" He scoffs, " You want me to stay calm? If he did that to me what'd you think he'd do to her?"

The silence was deafening, making the room even quieter than before.

"Unfortunately we already know, and it's sad reality for a lot of women, even me."

"Mattie I-"

He cuts himself off, heavily sighing and turning his back to the screen.

"It was her choice to go." Russ says softly.

Mac stalks towards Russ before Bozer can cut him off. "Like that makes it any better."

They were face to face, like many times before but this was different. This was about Riley. One of the phoenix's own. How could they just send her into that hell hole with that demon , alone?

He shoves Bozer when he intervenes again but quickly apologizes after seeing his hurt expression.

"I'm sorry Boz. I just.."

His words falter.

Bozer flashes his palms and nods, "I get it, Riley's my friend too, but you need to know what happened before you start trying to blame them. She's recovering, just take a breath and hear Matty out."

He nods, coming to take a seat on the couch, defeated. "Okay talk, tell me what happened."

He clasped his hands together to avoid breaking something. Anything, like he wanted to do with every bone in Axel's body.

Mac mentally sighs, taking an internal breath as he thoughts wander back to Riley. For now he had the focus on her, which meant shoving the violent desires to the back of his mind.

"She went in about a month ago. Portraying a henchman to one of our agents. We wanted to make an arms deal, catch Axel selling the illegal weapons."

"Seems pretty straight forward, phoenix standard protocol," he tilts his head, with narrowed eyes, "What are you not telling me?"

"We found out guns weren't the only thing Axel was selling.

"Hmm. When I knew him that was his MO. AR fifteens, AK-fourty sevens. You name it. Are you sure this was him?"

She nods, closing her eyes. " Yes, our agent and Riley both confirmed a positive ID. Mac he's changed, his influence and empire has only grown since the last time you've seen him."

"So what else could it be, drugs?"

"No, worse" she brings up a side screen on the projector , " women."

Mac winces at the screen before him. All women, some as young as fifteen had been trapped by him. No, trafficked, raped. It made him sick to his stomach.

Mac closes his eyes regretting what he'd say next. "So what happened to Riley?"

"Axel offered our agent women free of charge at his Mansion the night before the deal. When we realized we were in over our heads we tried to push up exfil. We'd regroup and come at Axel with a different angle. Both she and agent Reed refused. When the exfil chopper arrived they chose the girls over themselves. They thought they could pay Axel off or come up with a believable explanation. When his security guards heard the commotion, they shot our agent dead and took Riley captive," she clears her throat, " they said they'd have other plans for her."

His pounding heart vibrated all throughout his body, drowning out any noise in the room.

He thought he was dreaming.

Who knows what that vile creature did to her? And for seventy-two hours?

The tightness behind his eyeballs was back and a few tears slid down his face.

Bozer is to his side in seconds, trying to comfort him.

"Where is she now?" Mac asked with red rimmed eyes.

"Home, hopefully. She hasn't been here in three weeks. I know she needs time off but she's not answering anyone's calls or text."

Bozer wraps a hand around his best friends shoulders, " Look Mac right now you're the only one she'll listen to. Especially since she doesn't have Jack."

Mac gives a small smirk through his tears, silently thanking God that Jack isn't here to hear this. He'd be in some foreign holding cell within days afterwards.

"Mac we're worried." Matty says.

He wipes his tears with one hand, while grabbing his leather jacket with the other, "Me too."

…………….

When Mac enters Riley's apartment, it's pitch black. He can't see anything, or feel anything close. He quietly searches around for a light switch or something sturdy.

He freezes when he hears a distinct click, a sound way too familiar to him..

"Don't move, and turn around slowly."

Mac does as he's told, feeling the cold steel press against the back of his neck.

He recognizes that voice.

"Riley, it's me."

"Mac?" She backs up slowly, turning on a small light.

"What are you doing here and why are you covered in dirt?" Her nose wrinkles.

"Uhh it's not dirt." He abruptly coughs, "Only way in your apartment was down your chimney."

She watches him dust off the soot and sneeze.

"How'd you even fit in there?"

"Oh," he nods, looking back at his entry way, "while modern flues for chimneys are quite narrow a lot of older ones like yours aren't. Took a look at the building schematics, and "borrowed" some items from your neighbors just in case I got stuck."

She shakes her head, holding her temples. "It's two AM Mac. Why didn't you call or text first?"

" Well I tried, we all tried……for weeks."

She checks her phone, sighing and throwing it onto the couch.

"Look, I even tried to pick the lock but your door wouldn't budge."

He tucks his swiss army knife back into his pocket, glancing at the stacked up furniture in front of the door.

" And now I know why." He adds.

She glances at the blocked door and then Mac.

"Hey look, Riley I'm just here to-" When he progresses forward, she retreats, taking a step back.

That gut him.

"Riles, you know me. I'm not gonna' hurt you." He raises his hands in surrender.

When she gets closer to the light, he gets a good glimpse of her face clearly for the first time. Her bruises were starting to fade, but he could still see them. The stitched up gash on her cheek, was accompanied by black and fading purple around both her eyes and lips.

He clenches his fist at his sides, the blood in his veins scorching hot.

Seeing his expression she quickly turns away.

"You should go." She says, eying the chimney.

"Riley please, talk to me." He begs, " I know," he breathes, "I know what happened."

"You don't." She collapses on the couch on the opposite side of the room, dispirited, "you don't know." She says with closed eyes, tightly gripping the gun in her hand.

Mac takes a seat as far away from her as possible, respecting her boundaries.

"I wish he would've just killed me,"'she shakes her head looking up at the ceiling, "anything would've been better than this", she sniffs, "anything."
