"About that, I talked to Tony and they'll be some rules." "Hard rules or soft?" Peter asked. May had created this system that they used for forever. Hard rules would be explained and questions asked, but weren't likely to be changed. Soft rules were able to be interpreted. Peter held his breath, waiting for the answer. "Both. The hard ones are you'll start when the rest of the interns start, we'll take a tour of your working stations before you begin, and Tony assured me you'll call every hour. This was so sudden. Tony did mention it, but no specifics. I have to be sure you'll be safe there." Peter understood, he too was feeling some anxiety around it. May continued "There is always a freak attacking that building. Tony also said the interns would be at a different location, that's a relief. The soft rules are to have fun."
Peter sighed. These rules definitely weren't unreasonable. He told her so. "That doesn't seem like much. Thanks for supporting me."
"I'm so proud of you, Peter."

Hope was in the middle of her childhood mementos. Her parents had helped her unpack her things, in her room, it was the first room to look somewhat put together. She was trying to find space in her room for everything. Her clothes were put away and her bed built. Maybe she would add floating shelves, she'll have to ask her dad. Her parents were currently in an argument. She knew it was about her. She tried not to listen but she knew what they would be saying. "I don't know why she did this." Hope caught her mom saying. She missed what her dad said in response. Jake was taking it better than Kate. Hope often found her dad would stick up for her. Since she was small, she gravitated to Jake. Hope thought of her first time making it across the monkey bars, in the park. Jake congratulated her. The multiple times she fell, her dad comforted her and encouraged her to take a break. Kate ran to her when she fell. Her comfort wasn't like Jake's. She immediately wanted Hope to try again. Kate and Hope came home from the park because Hope twisted her ankle and scraped her knee. After that Kate didn't take her to the park, her dad did. She guessed her dad had something to do with that.
Hope listened for when the yelling dissipated. She got up and walked to the dining room. This house was nice, though not as big as the cottage. It was so sickeningly modern, Hope borderline hated it. The kitchen was recently renovated with a shade of gray everything; cabinets, walls, even the fridge was somehow a matte muddy gray. The flooring had white tiles. Empty boxes were sitting all over the place. The dishes and kitchen items were laid out on the counters. "Kate , it would have been better if we had put one box away and then move onto the other box." "This is easier Jake," Kate said, her voice tight. This was obviously not what they were discussing, seconds before. Hope came up and said "Can I go for a walk? Just around the block?" "Well honey, it's getting dark out." Kate inaccurately said. "It's not too dark out.. I talked to the neighbor, he said there's this nice sitting area a block from here. We cou-"
"She should stay home, Jake." Kate said, anger masking her words.
"How bout we all take a break."
"I'll stay here and put this away. I just got it organized."
"You're not coming, mom?" Hope did want her mom to join them.
"I should finish this. I could meet you too."
"It's not too far, K." Jake explained.
"I should finish this. I'll be there in a minute." repeated Kate.
