AUTHORS NOTE: My first time writing any sort of fanfiction in over a decade. It is also my first time writing for this fandom. Constructive criticism is most welcome. I was inspired by a writing prompt from otp-fanfic-ideas. Edited to give Daryl's partner a gender neutral name and they/them pronouns.
"Hey Daryl, would you still love me if I was a worm?" Ash asked from their position lying on the ground near where Daryl was working on his bike.
"Huh?" Daryl asked, looking at them.
"Would. You. Still. Love. Me. If. I. Was. A. Worm?" Ash repeated slowly, sitting up.
"'re ya high? Where'd ya get the weed?" Daryl asked, frowning at Ash.
Ash smiled at him and shook their head. "Just answer the question. Would you still love me if I was a worm?"
"Why ya askin' stupid questions?" he asked, turning back to his bike.
"It is not a stupid question, just answer it."
Daryl sighed. "If I answer, will ya stop bugging me?" Ash nodded. "Yeah, I would still love ya if ya were a worm."
Ash smiled brightly and moved to throw their arms around him. "I would love you too. If you were a worm. You'd be a very cute worm."
Daryl scoffed. "Ain't cute."
"You are very cute." Ash argued back, before giving him a quick kiss. "And a deal is a deal. I shall stop asking 'stupid questions'…for now."
Ash moved away from him to lay back in their previous position.
"Seriously though, where'd ya get the weed?"
