Chapter 98 Snow Strike

Danny couldn't go back to sleep, so he headed down to an empty section and began to do a bit of exercise. He did some basic stretches, followed by a little hand-to-hand combat practice, and lightsaber practice. As Danny exercised and trained, he thought about the massive anger and hatred he had sensed from Wraith the past couple of times. It felt so dark and unreal and Danny could only wonder what Vlad was doing with the young clone to create such anger and hater. Danny knew he was going to have to fight Wraith eventually, but he was uncertain on how that would go. He wanted to save the girl and get her far away from Vlad and his evil influence, but that was easier said then done. Wraith might be too far gone to listen and see reason and as long as she was in play, she would be a huge threat to the Rebels. If Wraith was unable to be reasoned with, Danny might have to either seriously injured her by hacking one of her limbs off or he might have to kill the clone to put a stop to her. Both of those options made Danny feel ill and sent a cold shiver down his spine. Danny was well aware that there was a great deal of death and pain caused by his and the Rebels's actions, he took no pleasure in that, but he knew those actions were against cruel and corrupt people who usually took pleasure in terrorizing the innocent and oppressing, they consciously knew what they were doing was wrong yet they did it anyway and they needed to be stopped. With Wraith however it was a bit of a different story. Wraith had been created from Danny's blood by an evil and cruel man and what she was becoming was a result of Vlad and whatever training he was putting Wraith through. She was basically a reflection of Danny if he was in toxic environment. Danny silently swore to himself that he would do everything in his power to try and save Wraith.
A couple of hours later, Maddie came down to the garage and told him she got a message from Sam about the attack on Froza. Danny told his mother about the dream he had about Wraith, which alarmed her a little bit.
"What do you think it means?" Asked Danny.
"It's possible that the connection between you is getting stronger. Wraith was created from you and has a near identical connection to the Force like you. The more emotion she uses the stronger the connection seems to get." Said Maddie.
"Could she use it to find and locate me?" Asked Danny with a bit of concern.
"Possibly, but that would take time and training and we can work on preparing your mental defenses to keep that from happening." Said Maddie giving her son a reassuring smile.
"Ok." Said Danny with a little smile.
The two of them then got ready and left the house to go meet up with the crew of the Tempest and then they headed into space and towards planet Froza to meet with a small fleet of Rebel ships to do a daring rescue mission to save Frostbite and the other Rebels that had been taken prisoner.
A few hours later the Tempest was flying along with a few larger ships and Danny's group was making plans with the other Rebels. The plan was simple enough, the Tempest and some fighters would escort a few drop ships down to the planet's surface, where Maddie would lead a team to the captured fortress, once there Valerie would sneak in, plant several bombs around the base, and detonate them to cause chaos and a huge distraction to allow the others to go free the prisoners. Once the prisoners were rescued the team would head back to the drop ships and leave the planet. The operation was called 'Snow Strike'.
The Tempest along with a few fighters escorted two large drop ships down to the planet's surface. The teams got out of their ships and began to head in the direction of the fortress leaving a few of their troops behind to guard the ships. As Maddie lead the rescue team, Danny began to sense the presence of Wraith on the planet, though it was coming from a slightly different direction then the fortress. Danny was at first going to ignore the presence, but then he got a telepathic message from Wraith using the Force.
"You finally came. I knew you would." Said Wraith.
"Wraith. Why are you here?" Said Danny using telepathy to talk back to Wraith.
"I'm not too far from here. I came here to strike a blow to the Rebels and lure here and it worked. Now come and face me Phantom." Said Wraith.
"Now why would I abandon my comrades and do that?" Asked Danny.
"Because it is our destiny to clash and see which one of us is truly stronger and if you don't I will alert the soldiers at the fortress about you and your friends presence on this world and put them on high alert." Said Wraith.
"How do I know you haven't already alerted them?" Asked Danny.
"Oh if I did that already, then that would ruin our chances of having a one-on-one fight. I want us to fight with no interruptions or distractions." Said Wraith.
"Fine. I'll head in your direction and face you." Said Danny.
"Good. And come alone." Said Wraith.
Danny let out a sigh and faced his mother who had heard the whole conversation using the Force. Maddie wanted to protect against her son going to face Wraith alone, but she knew it was for the good of the mission and that her son would put others first before himself.
"Be careful Danny. May the Force be with you." Said Maddie.
"May the Force be with you too mom." Said Danny.
The two shared a quick embrace and then Danny separated from the group to go face Wraith. The mission was still on.
