Chapter 111 Damage Control

There was total confusion and chaos at the Capitol as the lockdown ended. Stormtroopers were rushing into the building about the same time Fright Knight and his assault squad entered the building. There were still a few small groups of pirates roaming the Capitol, who fought against the invading Imperials, but they were quickly defeated. In the confusion of retaking the Capitol, Danny, Tucker, Crash, and Valerie snuck down to the lower level of the Capitol and met with Maddie and Wulf who had cut a new exit for the Rebels. The little group went through the new exit and got far away from the Capitol. It would be a few hours before anyone found the hole and alerted the authorities about it's existence.
Up in Lancer's office, Wraith stood facing a nervous Johnny, Kitty, and Shadow.
"Alright you three, since you actually helped me take back control of the Capitol, I've decided to not had you over to the authorities and let you go. However if you ever get involved in a stunt like this that harms agin, I will personally hunt you down and bring you all to justice. Understand." Said Wraith eyeing the trio.
"Oh we understand completely! There will be no more trouble from us." Said Kitty with a quick bow.
The trio turned to leave and Johnny went over to Jazz.
"I just want to say that I am so sorry for everything that went down. I never intended to hurt you or put you into harm's way." Said Johnny.
"That's ok, but I just want to know why you did it." Said Jazz.
"We needed the money and Youngblood's money was good. I had no idea he was going to launch some kind of crazy attack on the Capitol. I also hate the Empire." Said Johnny.
"Why do you hate the Empire?" Asked Jazz.
"The Empire doesn't care about people like me or my friends. They oppress us and take most of our money and what good things we own for themselves. I just wanted to get a little payback on them and make some money." Said Johnny.
"I'm sorry about what you and your friends have been put through." Said Jazz.
"Not your fault. You're one of the few good people I've meet who works for the Empire. Who knows maybe you might be able to change things around here and make them better for people like me and my friends." Said Johnny with a smile before he and his friends left the office.
Several minutes later Fright Knight, Vid, Thrash, and Download entered the office. Fright Knight used Lancer's computer to call Vlad. A hologram appeared standing before Lancer, Wraith, Jazz, Fright Knight, and his troops.
"Tell me what happened Wraith." Said Vlad looking over at Wraith.
Wraith filled Vlad in on everything that had happened during the siege, including fighting Phantom and joining forces with him to take Youngblood down and lifting the lockdown. Vlad scowled at this news. He was displeased about the whole situation. Not only had the Capitol been temporarily taken over by pirates, it had ended up being saved by Phantom and the Rebels. This made the Empire look bad to the public and more people would end up siding with the Rebels. Some serious damage control was needed here.
"We need to give a public statement about the Capitol." Said Lancer.
"Tell them the Capitol was attacked by Rebels who were being aided by Youngblood and his crew, but our forces took the building back." Said Vlad.
"Um sir that's not what happened." Said Jazz speaking up.
"And you are?" Asked Vlad.
"I'm...Jasmine Fenton, though you can call me Jazz. I work under Governor Lancer." Said Jazz.
"Well Jazz this is a very delicate matter. If we tell the people who really rescued the Capitol then we would make the Empire look weak and more people would side and support the Rebels." Said Vlad.
"I understand that sir, but it seems underhanded to blame the Rebels for an attack they didn't do. We can still look strong by simply saying the Rebels played no part in what went down at the Capitol." Said Jazz.
"True, but you forget we're at war with the Rebels and in war you must do everything in our power to win. This includes sometimes lying and underhanded tactics. We cannot allow the Rebels to gain any favors or advantages. We are turning this situation to our advantage. Understand." Said Vlad.
"Yes...sir." Said Jazz looking down.
"Yes master." Said Wraith.
Later that day Lancer made a public broadcast to planet Casper.
"People of planet Casper, several hours ago the Capitol was invaded by a group of Rebels aided by the notorious Captain Youngblood and his gang of pirates. I was taken hostage along with several government employees. The Rebels demanded the release of all the prisoners from the Tartarus as well as the removal of several military outpost from several neighboring planets, but thanks to our brave military forces the Rebels were defeated and the Capitol was taken back. This action truly shows what an evil and despicable group the Rebels are and we must all work together to destroy them and bring peace to our system. For the glory of the Empire we shall succeed!"
Jazz headed home feeling extremely uncertain about the Empire she served. She had a lot of big questions on her mind regarding her brother.
