Chapter 123 Hunting 3

In Hotep Ra's island fortress numerous criminals and shady business owners were gathered around large holo tables that gave them live footage of the hunt going in the jungle. Some of the spectators were angry and depressed about the hunters they betted on getting taken out by the prey or rival hunters. The ones who lost bets were drinking heavily and were making new bets on other hunters. Big Daddy quietly sat at the table with studying the events playing out. So far Danny and Valerie had done well and had taken down four of the hunters, but now several of them were closing in on the two Rebels. There were a few dangerous hunters plus several hunters who fell into the category of dumb muscle and low to mid level hired guns. Now if these hunters were coming in two or three at a time, Danny and Valerie could take them on, but a large group coming in all together would nearly be impossible to defeat in direct combat.
Danny and Valerie were going to have to play it smart and pickoff the hunters one by one or divide up in someway if they wanted to win. There was a chance the Rebels could show up just in time to rescue them, but it was a slim chance at best. A more plausible option was to hope the hunters' greed and ego would make them turn on each other and thin out their ranks. Big Daddy wished Danny and Valerie the best of luck.
In the jungle, Danny and Valerie were running as fast as they could, until they spotted a large hill with various large rocks on it. Figuring that the hill would give them the advantage of the high ground as well as some rocks to cover behind and use as weapons against the hunters the two of them raced up it and ducked behind a large rock. A few seconds later Doombringer arrived on the scene with roughly a dozen others hunters. The two Rebels recognized Ving, Felos, and Rockwell among the hunters, but there were a few they didn't recognize. There were a couple of rough looking human male bounty hunters named Francis and Sperg, a Trandoshan named Francisco, four Gorlocks named Gnarl, Snarl, Tusker, and Crunch, a Yokian named Spoor, and an Irken named Zim.
"Quite a crowd out there. I don't recognize some of those species." Said Danny peering down at the hunters.
"I can identify them for you. They all come from different systems. The four big green guys with horns and tusks are Gorlocks, really strong and nasty, but not to bright. The guy that looks like green slime riding in a egg shaped hover suit is a Yokian, they're smart, but arrogant. The little green guy is an Irken, they're smart, but not really physically strong." Said Valerie.
"You sure do know a lot about different aliens." Said Danny.
"I did a bit of traveling as a bounty hunter and I encountered and took down a quite a few alien races. Knowledge is power and it comes in handy." Said Valerie.
Doombringer looked up at the hill and figured Danny and Valerie were up there hiding behind one of the rocks and called out to the Rebels.
"You two might as well give up. You're outnumbered and outgunned. There's no way you're getting out of this. If you surrender now and come out I promise you will get a quick death."
"Yeah no. I don't feel like dying at the hand of some amateurs." Valerie.
"Fine have it your way." Said Doombringer before she and the other hunters began to charge up the hill.
"Can you use the Force to send one of those rocks down the hill?" Asked Valerie pointing at a large and lumpy round boulder.
"I can give it a shot." Said Danny as he got behind the boulder and began to focus on it with the Force.
At first nothing happened, but then the boulder began to shake from side to side, before it began to roll down the hill towards the onrushing hunters. The hunters saw the boulder and screamed in shock and fear. Many of the hunters dove to the side and avoided getting hit, but Rockwell and Crunch weren't so lucky and ended up being crushed by the boulder. Valerie poked out from her cover and fired a couple of stun blast that hit Sperg and Tusker knocking the two of them out. The remaining hunters quickly raced down the hill and regrouped.
"Well that was a terrible plan! Two of our group are dead and two more are unconscious!" Growled Ving.
"At least there's more money to go around." Said Francis.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Growled Snarl.
"It means I don't like splitting money with losers." Sneered Francis
Snarl roared in anger and tried to strike Francis with a club, he'd been carrying, but Francis pulled out a blaster and hit him with a stun blaster sending the Gorlock crashing to the ground unconscious. Gnarl was about to attack Francis, but Doombringer fired her blaster in the air getting everyone's attention.
"Enough! Look we're all on the same side and we all want the same thing. We're not going to get it fighting among ourselves, so why don't we put our heads together and come up with a new plan." Said Doombringer.
The other hunters grumbled, but they agreed with Doombringer. Before they could start forming a new plan several stun blasts flew out of the jungle and struck Francis and Gnarl knocking them out onto the ground. Doombringer and the remaining hunters frantically fired back as they fled in the opposite direction.
Danny and Valerie watched them leave as three new figures came out of the jungle. It was Johnny, Kitty, and Shadow. The three waved at Danny and Valerie and the two Rebels came down to meet them.
"Hey Phantom, it's been awhile." Said Johnny.
"How did you three end up here?" Asked Valerie.
"After Youngblood was taken down, we used our part in his takedown to increase our reputation to get jobs working for Hotep Ra and we signed up for his hunt." Said Johnny.
"But once we heard about who we were hunting, we couldn't go through with it." Said Kitty.
"You saved our lives back at the Capitol, so we owe you a debt. Now we're returning the favor." Said Johnny.
"Well thanks we can really use the help." Said Danny.
"Don't thank us yet. There's still a good number of hunters roaming around and I don't think Hotep Ra is going to be too happy about what we just did." Said Johnny.
"Will deal with Hotep Ra, after we collect our gear and get out of this jungle." Said Valerie.
With that said the two Rebels and their three allies headed into the jungle to continue the hunt. It seemed like the odds were starting to turn in their favor.
