Hey guys, It's Serena here! I have decided to rewrite all the chapters of the Phoenix Empress! I am thankful to those of you who have read the original version, but I want to make this story better since many people thought I was going too fast with the first story. Naraku is defeated and the Feudal Era has some peace, however, a new enemy has emerged and happens to be the enemy of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha's father who is seeking revenge. Chapter One is to just start off by at least introducing the new villain. Serafina, Syuri, Kinjiro, and Kyoran are my own characters. Comment, review, and give suggestions.

Chapter One: A New Enemy

In a kingdom not far away, a young ice fox demon sits on his throne. His long icy blue hair in a ponytail, wearing a black kimono with a black and silver obi with black sandals. His messenger came and entered the room.

"Lord Kyoran, Naraku has been defeated. Rumors have it he was defeated by Sesshomaru and his half-brother Inuyasha along with a miko, demon slayer, monk and a fox demon. The jewel is no more" said the messenger, bowing.

"I have no need for the jewel, but I seek revenge against the Dog General's sons. Lord Toga is an embarrassment to us demon. Dying all for a human woman and her half-breed spawn. Toga defeated me in battle, humiliating me, but no more! Since he is dead, his sons will pay the price of what their father did to my father. Lord Kinjiro was a feared demon but when he met Toga, he lost the battle and caused my father to lose his pride and dignity. I will destroy their happiness" said Kyoran as his claws dug into the throne chair.

"Well, my lord, what do you insist?" said the messenger.

"Find their weakness. I heard Lord Sesshomaru took a human child as a ward and the half-demon has taken a miko as a mate. I will take away what they love so dearly" said Kyoran as he laughed, and the messenger went about his way.

Meanwhile… At Lord Sesshomaru's Castle

Sesshomaru invited Inuyasha and his group to his castle to acknowledge Inuyasha as his brother and congratulate him on his mating to Kagome. Sesshomaru forgave him as he realized that Inuyasha was not to blame for their father's death and Rin made him soft, but he kept his cold façade to prevent the other demons from seeing him as weak but when no one was around, only Rin saw the kind side of him. He could hear his brother's group enter his throne room and Kagome and the others bowed in respect.

"Hello Lord Sesshomaru, thank you for inviting us to your home. It is an honor" said Kagome as she bowed. Sesshomaru was surprised at how respectful the miko was and wondered how someone as kind and patient as Kagome got stuck with his brother who was brash, hot-headed and jumps into battle headfirst.

I guess opposites attract. May Kami be with her Sesshomaru thought.

"Little brother, I heard that you and miko mated and had a wedding as well. I offer you, my congratulations. I also brought you here to acknowledge you as my brother" said Sesshomaru.

"Like I need your apology, I could care less. You didn't protect me from humans and demons who shunned me for my heritage! You don't know what it is like to fend for survival while you live in luxury! I don't need your fucking apology!" said Inuyasha angrily.

"Inuyasha! At least he's trying to make amends! Don't forget that if it wasn't for him, we would have never defeated Naraku! I get it. Sesshomaru has not been the nicest but at least he is trying to make peace with you. So, swallow your fucking pride and make peace or else I will S-I-T you!" said Kagome, losing her patience. Inuyasha was stunned and grew scared. He did not like it when Kagome was angry, and she had a point too. Without Sesshomaru, Naraku would not have been defeated. Inuyasha bowed and apologized to Sesshomaru.

"All is forgiven, Inuyasha. I have a piece of land that I want to give you and I believe you will make a fine ruler with the proper tutoring and training, you will be good. I will help you" said Sesshomaru. Inuyasha was stunned and bowed to his older brother in respect. Sesshomaru swore he heard a "thank you" from Inuyasha.

The day went on as Sesshomaru acknowledged his brother in front of everyone and no one insulted Inuyasha or his mate. The evening went fine until Kyoran made his appearance.

"Hello, sons of the dog general, it's been a while. You will pay what you did to my father!" said Kyoran as held a scared Kagome with a dagger near her throat. "Inuyasha, this must be your woman. She'll make a fine queen despite being human or a good concubine" he sneered. Inuyasha drew his sword.

"Let her go, you bastard! Your beef is with me, not her" said Inuyasha. Sesshomaru also drew his sword. Kyoran laughed and threw Kagome to the ground.

"Do not worry, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru I will save you two for later, but I will take everything you both love just like you did me!" Kyoran laughed and disappeared. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome who was visibly shaken. Sesshomaru send everyone home and they all retired for the evening. Inuyasha was livid! Why is someone from their dad's past coming after him and Sesshomaru?! Why did the guy wait this long to show up? Inuyasha was determined to get answers.

"Inuyasha, you just met Kyoran. He is an ice fox demon and the son of Lord Kinjiro of the East. Our father defeated Kinjiro in battle and Kinjiro was humiliated from being defeated so he retreated. Kyoran, his son wants to restore his father's honor by killing us. Kinjiro died and his son took his place as ruler" said Sesshomaru. Inuyasha wanted to kill the guy for touching Kagome, but he had to get more information from Sesshomaru about this guy and from what he described, this guy won't be easy to defeat so Inuyasha realized that he and his brother had a common enemy and needed to work together.

"Sesshomaru, I want to help you defeat that bastard! I cannot beat him myself so with your power and mines, we can defeat him and maybe bring some peace to the old man" said Inuyasha.

"I agree with you, Inuyasha. He will try to use Rin and Kagome against us probably by kidnapping them. Rest assured; my guards will protect them with their lives." Sesshomaru said as Kyoran might try to harm Rin to get to him.

"Lord Sesshomaru, will you protect me?" said Rin, she was quite afraid and did not want to be taken away from the demon that took care of her and saved countless times.

"Rin, have I ever let you be in danger? I will protect you from anyone who will try to hurt you" said Sesshomaru smoothly.

"You're right, my lord. You always protected Rin and I have faith in you" she said and ran off to play.

Sesshomaru had a servant showed Inuyasha and Kagome into their room. The room had a beautiful king size canopy bed with ivory and gold sheets, comforter, and pillows. It had a fireplace and a wardrobe full of kimonos and accessories for them both. Inuyasha sat Kagome down and held her.

"Kagome, are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere?" said Inuyasha. Kagome shook her head saying she was fine. Inuyasha kissed her and laid her down, staring into her beautiful brown eyes.

"Inuyasha, I am fine, and I am glad you and your brother have made amends. I am a bit tired after everything, but I am okay" said Kagome As she went to sleep. Inuyasha chuckled a bit and held her close as they both went to the land of slumber.

Sesshomaru was happy that his brother found a mate and were planning their future although he couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy to his younger brother. He found a mate who loved him despite his heritage. He could see pups along the way with them. Sesshomaru found himself wanting a mate, but many demonesses only wanted him money, power, and title. He wanted a mate that was worthy of him, be a good mother to Rin despite her being a human child, beautiful, strong, a woman who would not cling to him and someone who would take her duties as a Lady seriously. After reading his scrolls and sending a message to the lords who offered their daughters' hand to him in marriage, he went to bed preparing for the next day. Tomorrow was going to be very interesting.

Okay guys, I am basically re-writing the whole story. Same characters but different plot. Kyoran seems to have a bone to pick with Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. Sesshomaru wants a mate but only one who is worthy of him and who can accept that he has a human ward which is Rin. Next chapter is a brotherly moment between Inuyasha and Sesshomaru.
