Duval was attempting to smile, but no matter how hard he tried, it was always distorted.
"Dammit, if I could just look right, I would be even more handsome," he said. It was then that you received the call on the transponder snail.
"Good news, Duval, we found it," said one of his men. "It's over by a Bay at Grove 41."
"I got it; I'll be right there," he said as he mounted his steed. "All right, men, listen up. The pride of the Rosy Life Riders is on the line here. We can't lose."
"Yes, sir!" said his men on the individual transponder snails.
"Grove 41! Now come on, Motobaro, go!"
Motobaro then swam as quickly as he could towards Grove 41.
' I wonder what the shockwaves were about,' said Duval. ' They shook the whole archipelago. I hope the young master and his friends are all right.'
At Grove 1, Saint Shari had just received the news that the Dragon Riders had evaded capture.
"What do you mean you haven't caught them?" she snapped.
"Admiral Kia is pursuing them as we speak," said a Marine. "So I'm sure it's only a matter of time until the captured ma'am."
"You bunch of useless dogs!" she roared and gestured to her father and brother, who had suffered injuries thanks to the Dragon Riders. "Not only did you allow them to do this to my father and brother, but you also let every last one of our slaves escape. And yet, I must save my contempt for the pirates who made a mockery of our bloodline. When you catch those heathens, I'll show them a true living hell until they beg for death on their needs."
At Grove 41, Duval was still practising his smile while he and his men waited on the Night Fury for the Dragon Riders, not knowing they wouldn't return any time soon.
"Hey, Duval… I mean Handsome. What do you think is taking the Dragon Riders so long?"
"Maybe those guys are still chasing them."
"I heard things are a mess at the port right now."
"Yeah, I sought from the air myself. Pirates and Marines were fighting like crazy. Hope they didn't get caught in that."
"Stay sharp," said Duval, turning to face his men. "With all those idiots running wild all over Sabaody, who knows if the ship will be safe? That's why we've got it guarded with our very lives until the coating craftsman shows up and takes over. Don't budge an inch. You got that, Rosy Life Riders?"
"Roger, Captain Handsome!"
Back at Shar's bar, Camie and the others were getting very concerned.
"I have a bad feeling about this all of a sudden," said Camie. "I sure hope that Hiccup and his friends are okay out there."
"Come on, Camie, don't say things like that," said Pappagu. "You're just going to stress everybody out."
"Yeah, but…"
"The Dragon Riders at her; you know that there's nothing to worry about," Octron assured her.
"I hope you're right," said Camie, not sounding convinced.
Pappagu began to panic. "Knock it off, Camie. You're scaring me over nothing over here. Hiccup might be reckless, but he won't lose a fight. You've seen how strong that guy is."
"But not stronger than an Admiral," said Shar, causing everyone to look at her. "I'm not saying that they will lose, but this will take more than just strength. This season ahead will be rough for them, filled with waves the likes of which have never been seen before, and yet they must withstand and ride them. It's quiet, but can you hear it?"
All of them looked at her, confused.
"Little by little, the tide is changing, and the world with them."
Hiccup, meanwhile, was flying across the air after being struck by Kuma, and he had no idea where he was going.
"Damn, I can't transform," he said. "There again, even if I could at this speed, my wings would be ripped off."
"Hiccup, is that you?" Astrid's voice cried.
Hiccup turned his head and saw that Astrid was flying next to him. She looked as if she was having the same problem as him.
"Astrid, I am glad to see a familiar face," he said.
"Same here, but what's going on?" Astrid asked.
"We were hit by Kuma's paw pads; you remember what that guy would be axed said," said Hiccup. "He mentioned that anyone sent flying by him could fly from the sky for three days."
"If that's the case, then that means that everyone could still be alive," said Astrid, sounding relieved.
"It's possible, but that is small comfort if we don't know where we're going," said Hiccup.
Then they struck a mountain, but a massive air bubble around them shielded them from the impact, and they just grazed it.
"Good point, three days of this is going to be boring," Astrid agreed.
"Not to mention, if I land in the ocean, that's it for me," Hiccup added.
"Is there anything we can do?" Astrid asked.
Hiccup shook his head. "No, the only thing I suggest is that we try to get some rest and recover our strength. I don't know where we're going to land, but I have a sneaking suspicion that song could be anywhere friendly."
They decided to do just that and got some sleep as they flew through the sky.
Hiccup had no idea how much time had passed or where he was, but he soon landed on an island. The air bubble surrounding him acted like a cushion, stopping him before colliding with the ground, leaving a poor pad crater behind.
Hiccup sat up and took in his surroundings; it looked like he was in some thick jungle. He also noticed that Astrid was nowhere nearby.
"We'll find in the same direction, can only assume she landed on the same island but in a different location," he said. He then looked down at the crater he was currently sitting on. "Guess Kuma's power also cushioned my fall; hopefully, the same thing will happen to the others."
He then began to look around. "Guess my next big question is where I landed? I need to get back to Sabaody and meet up with the others. Though I suppose I should try and find Astrid that if she landed in."
He then pulled out the Vivre card that Rayleigh had given him. "Good thing I still have my Vivre card; I use this to join up with the others, assuming they still have theirs, of course. If I'm lucky, I'll meet up with Astrid on the way."
Hiccup then began following the Vivre card. As he ran, he couldn't help but think about their last battle and how they were completely overpowered. Not even all of them together could overpower Kai or Kuma. He was their captain and could do nothing as they were separated.
He was so busy pondering on the recent events that he failed to notice several giant boars slamming right into him, knocking him out cold in the process.
A few moments later, a woman in a loincloth emerged from the bushes and noticed Hiccup on the ground.
"What is that?" she then quickly turned her head. "Margaret, you must see this!"
Then arriving was a woman with short blond hair dressed similarly. "I'm here, Penelope. What's the matter?"
"What you make of this?" Penelope asked, pointing at Hiccup.
"Huh?" she said, looking down at Hiccup.
"Rather puzzling, isn't it?" Penelope asked.
Margaret examined Hiccup and gasped. "This is terrible. I think it's a human."
"Is she from the village?"
"I don't know, she so beaten up I can't even tell."
"What do you think happened?"
Margaret examined the area and saw several footprints resembling that of a giant boar. "Ah-ha! She must have been out hunting when she was suddenly taken by surprise by a herd of giant boar. We need to attend to her injuries."
"Then let's make haste," said Penelope.
Margaret then looked at the giant woman behind, who was also dressed similarly. "Agatha, carry her."
"Okay," she nodded.
"Stay strong, small one," said Penelope. "We will find aid."
"Let's hope," said Margaret.
They then carried Hiccup to their village, which was completely filled with women; there was no trace of any men. Because of his feminine looks, they mistook Hiccup for a girl.
"We have an emergency!" said Margaret as they rushed in carrying Hiccup.
A massive crowd of people began swarming the place as they tried to get a good look at Hiccup.
"Hey, down in front! I can't see!"
"Goodness, her face is badly swollen. What happened?"
"I haven't seen the girl in the village before, have you?"
"No, not me."
"Hey, who is that?"
"With that swollen face, it's hard to tell."
"Any idea where she came from?"
"Is she alive?"
"We think she was out hunting when she was taken by surprise by a herd of giant boar," said Margaret. "What should we do, Belladonna?"
Belladonna, the healer, then bent down and examined Hiccup. "The worst of these injuries were not caused by boars alone. It looks like she had been in battle beforehand, and judging from these injuries, it was a gruelling one."
"Really?" said Margaret.
"We need to treat her wounds," said Belladonna. "Do me a favour, Margaret; take her down to the river and give her a good bath."
"Uh, yes," Margaret nodded. "Yes, of course."
Everyone immediately made their way to the river, and Margaret and Penelope began to wash Hiccup after stripping him down. There were so many bubbles that they couldn't see his lower half and were completely unaware that he was, in fact, a man.
"Well, it appears that she is not from the village after all," said Margaret. "How strange."
"Yes," said Penelope as she began to wash his lower half but then stopped when she felt a bulge. "Hold on, what is this?"
"Is something wrong?" Margaret asked as she squeezed something down there.
"There seems to be some sort of strange lump in between her legs," said Penelope.
Margaret blew the bubbles away and saw the strange lump. "Huh? That is indeed a strange lump; I've never seen anything like it."
"And there's another one right here."
The other girls by the riverside noticed that something strange was going on.
"Hey, what's going on?"
"What happened?"
"There appears to be a strange lump there."
"Let me see!"
"Okay, that's enough, stop gawking ladies. They aren't putting on a show for you."
"If we leave, so do you."
"That doesn't look normal, does it?"
"It's strange she seems rather rugged, not very well endowed either."
"Oh my, what is this?" said an old woman as she made her way through the crowd. "Is something wrong?"
"Oh, hello, Granny Zera," said Margaret. "This girl seems to have a strange lump, and I'm not sure how to treat it."
"Just who is she?" Zera asked and began to look at Hiccup a lot more closely. "Let's take a look."
She then looked at the strange lump in her eyes widened. "Oh no!"
Zera was so shocked she nearly fainted, but two girls caught her.
"Whoa, you okay, Granny Zera?"
"You aren't ill, you?"
"Everything is just fine except that this person is a…" Everyone looked at her; confused, she had difficulty uttering the words. "…this person is a-a-a man! A man!"
Everyone immediately stared in horror and looked at Hiccup.
"I-I've never seen a man before," said Margaret. "Whatever should I do?!"
Unfortunately, Hiccup landed on the maiden island, Valkyrie Lily, inhabited by a tribal female warrior known as the Wing Maidens. Sadly for Hiccup, any man who would ever stair step foot on this island would welcome death.
