The Brock residence in New York was a comfortable home in a well off neighbourhood; inside Eddie was sitting in his room with is head down as looking over him with his arms folded was a brown haired man with a moustache and a receding hairline. His father Carl Brock wasn't pleased in the slightest. "Well you've done it now Eddie... You're a laughing stock in the city and that's the least of your troubles... I had to make a lot of apologies to the Thompsons when they called and talked to my lawyer... You stay away from Thompson for now on as one more incident between the two of you and we could be ruined... Plus Jameson told me on the phone about how much trouble you are in right now; so much as a talking in class and you could end up facing suspension." Carl told Eddie who put his head up.

"Dad... It wasn't my fault... Spider-Man tricked me and I was on a solid lead... I had to be a good journalist and find the proof... This was a big story that I was on; I had the chance to crack the big story... Plus I put in my retraction... No harm, no foul..." Eddie said as Carl's glare intensified.

"You have the nerve to say that after professional criminals came to your school and endangered everyone there... At work I have people asking me if the idiot kid who accused the star football player as Spider-Man was my son... It made my job all the much harder and as long as your punishment at school is going on... You are grounded which means that outside of school; this house is your entire world." Carl warned as he walked out slamming the door.

Eddie fumed as he sat in his room that had a poster of the movie JFK, bookshelves on many books on journalism and stories of famous stories cracked by journalists as well as books by journalists who would later after publication end up being discredited, blacklisted and disgraced. Plus on the wall there was also a whiteboard with him putting in down ideas for possible stories and conspiracies to uncover like the hidden meaning to the fact that the daughter of the late Kurt Cobain was married to the son of Tony Hawk.

Deciding that he had to vent this out; he went to his phone and called Peter. "Hey bro? What is going on?" Peter asked as Eddie then scoffed.

"Only that I just got read the riot act by my old man; only ever do I screw up does he ever want to acknowledge me." Eddie then said with the frustration evident in his voice.

"That's too bad Eddie but I am sure that the story will die down and people will forget and move on..." Peter replied and Eddie then shrugged not that Peter could see it; he guessed he was right as this was New York and people will soon enough find something new to talk about.

"When that happens... I can find something to bounce back and then look out for leads on where to find Spider-Man again..." Eddie then said sounding determined.

"Really Eddie? Doing that was what got you into trouble?" Peter asked as Eddie shook his head; Peter should hopefully understand once he explained it to him.

"It's a matter of pride after that freak humiliated me and someone has to put him down to size; expose him for the fraud he is instead of the hero that he wants people to think he is. We can't let anyone start to think this is some sort of silly comic book; this is real life where things would be more like the Boys. If he doesn't get brought down to size then people will get hurt." Eddie then said feeling better once he got it off his chest.

Soon enough Peter will be a real bro and support him on this as he always did.

Peter felt tense after that call with Eddie and how he was still hung up on finding out who Spider-Man is; possibly even more so after what happened. Still right now Midtown was closed and Aunt May was at work at the hospital and he told her that he would be looking after himself during this time. Still it meant there could be more time for Spider-Man.

He looked to something in his secret box of gadgets to work on including a broken police scanner that he had fixed up and definitely didn't want May to find out about; especially as he was certain that him using this was one hundred percent illegal. He turned it on and it sounded like nothing major was going on right now. Still it didn't mean that he couldn't see about finding someone that needed his help.

He got changed into being Spider-Man and a fresh batch of web cartridges he snaked out the window making sure that none was looking. He then climbed to the side of the building and onto the roof. Jumping down he started his web slinging.

Finding a purse snatcher he grabbed guy easily and gave the purse back to the purse's startled owner; he then started web slinging again as he picked up a man on the road in the way of a speeding car and put him safely on the pavement.

He saw people taking out their phones and cheering them and he grinned as he waved to them. He came across an alleyway where there were big men assaulting a helpless man. "Not good... What... No way these people could be that much of a threat..." Peter muttered as he felt his Spider-Sense going off hard as he went down.

"Hello there; I know that I am no psychiatrist but can I ask if it makes you feel good beating up on helpless smaller people? If so then might I suggest finding a more constructive hobby..." Peter asked casually as he appeared behinds them and webbed up as they started running. "Cowards! Not even trying to fight back!" Peter shouted out after them helping the man up.

"We got paid boys; no need to drag this out..." yelled one of them as Peter was confused but felt his Spider-Sense going off hard again.

His eyes widened as he found Otto Octavius as the man that was assaulted; "I got my money's worth... They brought you to me..." Octavius then told Peter as he then gave a smirk and before Peter could react he then took out a needle and stabbed Peter in the neck with it asking him feeling weak and faint.

Doctor Curt Connors was worried for his co-worker Doctor Otto Octavius; convinced that the people who snuck into the lab were spies and one of them had to be Spider-Man. He seemed obsessed with this vigilante. He was looking at test results of the latest experiment with the Neogenic Recombinator; when he got an alert on the app of the security company and saw that Octavius had them shut off the building's feed again.

What was he up to...

Connors then found him dragging a crate with him into one of the classified labs; "Otto; what are you... Is that?" Connors asked his eyes widened as Octavius opened the crate to reveal the unconscious Spider-Man in it who he then put on a table and strapped to it. Octavius then unmasked him and Connors was now looking at a kid who had to be in his teens. He wasn't even certain that he was old enough to drive.

"Welcome Spider-Man to Techtronics who you broke into but not before a spider hit by our Neogenic Recombinator bit you. The enhanced properties of the human body that we are trying to achieve went to you and made even stronger with the strength of a spider in proportion to their own body weight! I realised that you had to be one of the intruders and I kept my eye on the news... I am surprised that no one looked too much into the man whose murder in front of you transformed you from street performer to vigilante. Then again; there are not a lot of people whose IQ can stand up to mine... I sent some stealth camera drones to keep an eye on you and I mapped out your web slinging routes... Mr Brock was onto something when he found you at that school but got the identity of the student wrong. Once I found all that I needed; it was a simple manner of hiring some men to assault me in an alleyway on one of your routes. So here we are Mr Peter Parker." Octavius then explained with a smug smirk as Peter looked panicked.

"Doctor Octavius sir... I am so sorry for intruding... I didn't want to and my friend went along with it and I tried to stop him... I am such a huge fan of your work and I didn't mean any harm..." Peter said as Octavius then used a keycard to open up a chamber to reveal a technological harness that he put on and strapped in and from the back came four long mechanical tentacle like arms with claw like hands. "Oh my... What are those?" Peter asked in awe.

"A little project of mine... Tools to supplement the improved human body I aim to create for mankind... Four mechanical appendages to work with my mind... Answers to brain activity and kept in line with a special inhibitor chip where it connects to the back of my head." Octavius then explained as Peter was taking it in.

"That's amazing..." Peter said as he saw them move about.

"Thank you Mr Parker and I looked you up and your school record and grades... Through less than legal means and I would have been more than happy to have you here as an intern... Shame that i have to study you molecule by molecule; see how I can replicate what has happened to you and you may not survive..." Octavius said suddenly as Peter was shocked.

"Otto... This is a teenager... We can't be experimenting on humans here... We are not stooping to the lows of Mengele; cruelty disguised as research..." Connors snapped shocked as Peter was trying to gather his strength back to escape from the straps.

"Scientific advancement for the good of mankind is worth any sacrifice..." Octavius said non-chalantly as Connor then went into his bag and got a gun and then ended up shooting Octavius in the leg. He yelled out in pain as Peter winced. "What..." Octavius asked as Connors went to Peter and released his straps and gave him back his mask that Octavius dropped.

"Never wanted to use it... I feared you would one day go too far... I kept it just in case..." Connors explained as Peter put his mask back on and Octavius yelled as his mechanical appendages then went right for them.

Yes a scientist had an easier time looking at the clues and putting the pieces together to find Spider-Man than an entire city's criminal underworld was able to do. Along with a simple scheme to get him once he had his answer. Yes one of the late founders of Nirvana and the most famous skateboarder ever had children who are now married and just had a baby boy. I don't believe in any conspiracy to that connection but I put it in because I wouldn't be surprised if any real life conspiracy theorists thought that there was some hidden meaning to that connection.
