"Bones, two 'go aways' from you in one breath? I knew you weren't fine," Booth says with a smile, gazing into Brennan's eyes. They're face to face, and she's using his arm as a pillow while his other hand strokes her dark brown hair gently.
"Well, you know that's not why I gave you the spare key, right?" Brennan jokes.
Booth wiggles his eyebrows suggestively and starts trailing kisses along her collarbone and neck, moving up toward her face. "Is that complaining that I'm hearing? Because I can fix that right now," he says, hovering just above her mouth.
"I'm glad you used the key," Brennan replied with a soft smile and Booth, encouraged by the smile, takes that as permission for an encore. Their lips connect immediately. The kiss slow and sensual, their tongues exploring each other's mouths with leisure. As Brennan felt the tension building in her body, she couldn't resist the urge to take control. She flips Booth over, straddling him, and he was a willing victim. Intrigued and excited by her boldness, it reminds him of her books and so he lets her have her way. They spend hours lost in their intimate connection, exchanging gentle words of affirmations and satisfying each other's desires.
Brennan was eager to explore new sensations with Booth, and he was equally enthusiastic. She was insatiable, and he couldn't get enough of her too. The hours passed, but they didn't seem to notice as they were lost in pleasure, their passion and thirst for each other unquenchable.
Much later, they lay spooned together, but neither could sleep. Brennan could feel the rhythmic thumping of Booth's heart against her bare back, and she couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't just physical, they were both physically spent from the over eagerness of their repetitive activity. Her first instinct was to assume he was anxious about their recent intimacy, but the arm wrapped tightly around her waist didn't suggest panic. Despite her initial doubts, she decided to be brave and ask, channeling her inner Angela. She wiggled free from Booth's grasp and turned to face him, her brown eyes locking onto his blue ones.
Booth knew that was his cue to speak. He knew it was too early, illogical even, but he needed to tell her that this wasn't a fleeting infatuation. He had to let her know that he was in this for the long haul, that he was already fully committed, even if they had just begun, he knew her enough to know that saying all this to right now was not an option.
"Bones, I'm not going to say it out loud, I don't want to freak you out, i am not pushing you to respond or anything of that sort but I want you to know that I do, and i really do and i truly mean it" he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Brennan smiles, her feelings clear and unambiguous for the first time, she felt the same way so she voiced it for his sake. "I love you too, Booth." Booth's grin widened in surprise, and he was taken aback by her forthcomingness, he knew she is one to speak her mind but he had not expected her to be there yet. He had expected resistance, fear, or even confusion but instead, she had met him with openness and affection.
"It's not just lust for me, Booth, I have felt the same for a while now," she said, her voice filled with sincerity. "And, while this is undoubtedly the best sex I've ever had in my life, I also feel like I could spend hours simply holding you, watching you, listening to you or just being close to you. You exasperate me, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
Brennan was so captivated by him, his ability to bring her joy with nothing more than his presence and his simple, genuine nature. Booth's heart swelled with affection as he took in her words, feeling a profound connection that went beyond the physical. He had only felt this happy once, when Parker was born and he held him for the first time, he felt fulfilled, that was the same feeling, like he was right where he belonged.
"I love you so much Bones." he says as he softly paper kisses her face while stroking her hair and soon their relaxed state gave way to a very satiated blissful sleep.
