She could hold her own, she knew she could, but sometimes it was fun to play the damsel.

"C'mon, little darlin'" said the drunken man at the bar, grabbing at River's dress as she pirouetted clear of his grasp. "Come sit down here and I'll make a woman of ya," he leered, patting his knees, intending to have her in his lap before long.

Wrinkling her nose in distaste from the stench of him and the vile ideas that danced through his head and into hers, she told him calmly; "He has consumed too much alcohol and does not know his own mind. If he persists in his demonic ways, he shall be punished."

The man who was too old and disgusting to ever be near Serenity's Albatross let out a hearty chuckle.

"I offer you a good time, and you quote the Bible at me?" he sneered then "I ain't exactly the God-fearing type."

"Though God will no doubt smite him down one day, she spoke of man not deity," she explained, in that way that only River could. "Counting down." She smiled, backing up a step and bracing herself, with her eyes closed as she counted back from five. "...three, two, one"

Her eyes opened just exactly the moment his arms wrapped around her from behind.

"You okay, bao bei?" asked Jayne, as he pulled her close.

"She is quite well, but if he saw what she saw inside the hwun-dahn's head," she explained, pointing to the leering man at the bar, "Jayne-man might lose his temper."

"That right?" said the merc, staring down the drunken fella at the bar. "You been thinkin' unbefittin' things 'bout my woman, ya yi dwei da buen chuo roh?!"

Before the man ever had a chance to answer, his body hit the ground, and River smiled delightedly.

"Going to be sorry you were ever born." She sighed as she watched the bad man take his punishment at the hands of her lover.

Yes, she liked her part of damsel, if Jayne would be her knight.
