One year later, McGarrett's home, 08:45 AM, Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii
Catherine was woken up by the bed moving because her son had left his bedroom to come at his parents' one. She blinked several times before opened her eyes. She thought it was Sunday so Steve hadn't to go to work.
-"John?, she exclaimed. What are you doing here?"
-"I'm bored with doing nothing" the four-year-old child replied.
Cath felt the mattress was moving and Steve sat up straight behind her before kiss his wife.
-"Morning, lieutenant" he greeted her.
-"Morning, commander" she replied with a smile.
-"Hey, buddy, Steve said to his son. You've missed your parents?"
-"No, Daddy, said the young boy. I just have nothing to do".
Suddenly, Catherine stood up and ran to the bathroom before the two guys heard some vomiting noises.
-"Does Mom is okay?" John asked.
-"I don't know, John, but don't worry, okay? Your mom is the stronger person I ever met in my life".
-"It's because you love her"
-"Yeah, but I'm saying the truth"
When Catherine came back in the bedroom a few minutes later, she saw Steve and John playing together, the dad tickling his son. Steve raised his head up and looked Catherine who was smiling, admiring her family.
-"You're okay?" Steve asked to his wife, and she nodded before rejoined them.
Catherine turned her head and saw like every morning the photos put on her bedside table. It was a family photo and another one, take the day of their wedding. On the first one, Steve and Cath had John in their arms and were smiling. And on the second one, Steve was taking his wife by the waist and a big smile was on their two faces.
These photos were a symbol of Cath's happiness.
Steve's POV.
I was playing with John when I turned the head to look at Cath and we smiled to each other before she took my hand. Like every time I see her engagement and her wedding ring on her finger, my heart misses a rate because I realize how much Cath is the love of my life and of my dreams. The person who understands me and who I understand even without words. And every time, I remember how many I waited to propose to Catherine because I wanted to be sure that it was the good girl.
When I look to John, every day, I realize how much I wanted to become a dad and have some kids. When Cath left, a few years ago now, I couldn't imagine have a family with someone else and I never try to find someone, in fact. I knew since the beginning; I wouldn't live all my life with Lynn. She was nice, I do but I didn't love her. We were more than friend, but not in love. And she left me because she has met someone else more interesting (and I've understood).
Yeah, sometimes I think about what I could do in the past, about my regrets but I put that away to appreciate my life now because there is nothing to me better in world than open my eyes everyday and see the family I have built with the woman of my life.
Later, McGarrett's home, 11:05 AM, Honolulu, O'ahu, Hawaii
Catherine came back home after going to the market to buy some little things. She saw John, Steve and Eddie playing in the sea and she took advantage of this calm moment to lock herself in the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, Steve arrived in the bathroom and found a Catherine with a hand on her mouths and tears rolling on her face.
And immediately, he began to get worry and he walks a few steps to be in front of his wife.
-"What happened, Cath?" he asked but she didn't reply immediately, letting her tears rolling on her face.
It was tears of joy.
-"I'm… I'm pregnant, she finished to announce with a smile. We have succeeded, sailor!"
-"That's… that's great! he exclaimed, while taking his wife in his arms. I'm so excited, Cath."
-"I am too. I can't wait our baby" she declared.
-"Wow, babe, that's a new. When I entered in the room, I thought a big sad thing had happened… But it's a big happy one, in fact."
-"Yeah, Catherine whispered before kiss her husband. Thank you, Daddy, I love you."
-"I love you too, Cath" Steve replied and he kissed her again.
Wow! A second one! Yeah, I know I have to finish this story, but it's just one epilogue left!
