"It's useful," Pietro noted.
"Agree." The Mirror Dimension was more than useful to spy on them. "Just don't go kill off Hayward once we're out of it."
"He wants my sister dead."
"He won't succeed in that, trust me. And we're here, if it comes to it...we make a scene." He raised a brow at me. "Come on, between you and I we can take care of this bunch of clowns in a second without killing anyone." I showed Hayward. "I can trap him in a loop of falling between two portals for a long time."
"As hilarious that would be to watch…"
"Super-powered individuals can't be trusted, they take care of one threat and then create another. Maximoff, her twin, Carter, all of them were terrorists who would have killed us all with a movement of their fingers not so long ago so I'm not taking any risk."
"They proved themselves though," Jimmy contested.
"The Maximoff twins helped Ultron and Carter left a trail of blood behind her in the Pentagon at age seventeen, nothing will ever erase that."
"Maybe push him off a cliff or something," I told Pietro. Hayward kicked Monica, Jimmy and Darcy out. "Does he have the authority to do that?"
"He has the authority to get my fist in his face," Pietro groaned before muttering something in Sokovian.
"I'll hold him." We followed the trio and I cheered when they knocked the goons out. I got us out of the Mirror Dimension when we were out of sight.
Darcy jumped, again.
"Would you stop doing that!?" I shrugged.
"You saw everything?"
"He's not killing my sister," Pietro stated firmly to Monica.
"Agree."
"How is going back into the Hex going?" I asked them.
"It's going." I nodded.
"We're leaving Wanda and breaking her out of this to you. We'll take care of the other one."
"You know who it is?" Jimmy asked us.
"No, but we know what they want."
"Agnes." We looked at Darcy. "I mean, Wanda's twins do their own things, right? But Agnes seems to obey Wanda but she doesn't have a license plate from here."
"She's a real person but not from Westview," Pietro summed up. Darcy nodded.
"She's always there in each episode," Jimmy reminded us.
"Darcy, you're a genius." She smiled.
"I like to point out the obvious but also, yeah." I looked at them.
"Good luck."
"You too," Monica told us before we left.
June 26th, 2018, outside the Hex
"At least I know why I couldn't precisely locate her, she was hiding herself with Chaos Magic," I told Pietro as we were eating takeout in my car. "Now, whether or not she was doing it consciously is another problem."
"There's no way she created the Hex consciously. You've seen the first few episodes?"
"She 'woke up' when Monica mentioned the Avengers. There's no Avengers in her sitcom world." I swallowed my last Chinese noodle. "Anyway, the trio is dealing with Wanda and the civilians."
"Yeah, doing too much on our side could put them in harm way I guess," Pietro muttered, twirling his noodles.
"Are you going to eat them?" He shot them a look, removed his chopsticks and gave me the noodles. "Thanks!" I started eating.
"How can you eat this much in this situation?" he asked me, exasperated.
"I need all the strength I can get. When we were sleeping, I used my astral projection to look through the book."
"You didn't sleep then?"
"My body did, it's enough. Basically, it's like getting a needle out of a haystack."
"How do you do that?"
"The same way Tony found J.A.R.V.I.S in Oslo when we were fighting Ultron. You get a magnet. A magical one this time." I showed him the book. "This is the magnet."
"The book?"
"It deflects magic, so if I put it in the energy field around the Hex…"
"Wanda will feel it."
"So will Agnes, but if she wants Wanda's magic, then feeling another magic user trying to get in goes against her plan. Magnet." I showed the book before pointing at the Hex. "Needle."
"We're doing that now?"
"First, I want the check the area for any hidden magic stuff."
"Like?"
"Runes, magical relics, anything. If she's hiding the Hex from detection, there's got to be a spell around working on its own."
"No magnet for that?" I deadpanned at him, slurping my noodles. "No magnet then."
We split up once I was done eating. We looked for hours, but nothing. We reunited when the night was still there, but there was nothing.
"If there's nothing around, then it's inside."
"Inside? Wanda controls everything." I shrugged.
"They're good?" I conjured the book and Pietro took a deep breath.
"You're sure of you?"
"Meh."
I stuck the book in the Hex, knowing it would repel the magic. Indeed, it got half inside easily. I waited a few minutes and removed it.
"Get back, something's coming."
"How did the book…"
"Repels magic, remember?" I explained quickly.
A woman came out of the Hex, looked around, then looked at us.
"Agnes," we whispered in sync.
"So, it was you I guess." She pointed a finger at me, purple energy dancing in front of it.
"Great, dark magic."
"I guess that the Avengers would notice one of them missing at some point." She saw my book and her face soured. "I'm not the only one with good references I see."
"Who are you?" Pietro asked her. She looked at him up and down.
"Well, if it isn't the real Pietro. It sucks your own sister doesn't want to deal with the real you." I grabbed his shoulder before he could make a move.
"You're after her magic, aren't you? I mean...it's pretty impressive." She snorted.
"How long did it take you to figure this out?" I didn't like her tone. "And most importantly, what are you going to do? Wanda didn't let any of you inside, she doesn't want to see you." She pursed her lips, her face falsely sad. "It must hurt to know she doesn't want to see you."
"Shut up!"
"Now, I think I deserve a little bonus for playing along her little show." Purple energy spiraled between her hands.
Pietro ran at her first, but she flew away, sending an energy blast at me. I made a wall of Dark Matter in front of me, which stopped it.
"That's not magic."
"No kidding," I replied coldly, the Dark Matter vanishing. "What's your real name Agnes?"
"Agatha Harkness." As soon as she said that, the Hex shone brighter. Agatha smirked. "And it looks like Wanda is getting hungry."
It started to expand. Agatha went back inside while Pietro grabbed me to run away. He got us to safety, but once the Hex stopped like us, I flew in the sky to have a view.
It was...huge.
"How bad is it?" Pietro asked me when I landed. I just pursed my lips without looking at him. "That bad huh."
"I don't know why she did it. And my car was swallowed in the Hex too." I put my hands on my hips. "I didn't want to do that, but I need to go to the Sanctum."
"This Agatha?" I nodded.
"I need to look for any scrap of information I can get."
"I'm coming too."
"You sure?" He pointed at the Hex.
"I can't really go knock some sense in my sister right now, can I? And military stuff will frustrate me."
"Alright then." I made a portal and we were at the bottom of the stairs. "Follow me." We went to the library.
In a matter of a few seconds, we had a dozen of books in front of us, Pietro panting and rubbing his eyes. I sat down and opened the first one.
Then the second one. I was about to start the third one when someone tapped me on my shoulder. I looked behind and blinked at the cloak. I gulped and looked up.
Stephen was staring down at us, his hands in his back. He raised his brows expectantly when our eyes met.
"That's a nice selection you've got there. Dark magic? What for exactly?"
"It's huh…" I stood up and glanced at Pietro. "Intellectual curiosity?" Stephen took the book I was reading.
"About famous dark magic users?" Stephen looked at Pietro, then me. "Okay, I think the three of us know I'm onto you, just tell me what's going on so soon after we defeated Thanos."
"My sister," Pietro confessed. I widened my eyes. "Sorry Addie but...he won't let us go, will he?"
"He will not," Stephen confirmed. I sighed. "What is the issue with Wanda?"
"You didn't feel anything from New Jersey, did you?" He frowned. "You don't know of a place called Westview, do you?"
"I don't go to New Jersey often."
"Wanda went to this town and created her own bubble of reality where she rewrites reality in it, controls people...it's a sitcom world really."
"It's not possible to do this mu…" I pursed my lips and he took a sharp breath.
"The Scarlet Witch is not a myth. It's Chaos Magic." Stephen pursed his lips. "I know, I should have come to you when…"
"You should have, yes," he interrupted me sharply.
"But I wasn't sure if Wanda would be safe." He blinked at me.
"I wouldn't kill her."
"You sent me to space knowing what would happen. I'm sorry but it's still fairly recent so I didn't want to risk Wanda's safety."
"Yet you're telling me now," he replied, obviously wounded at what I was implying.
"Because someone's inside. She noticed the Hex before us and hid it so that she could take Wanda's magic for herself!"
"You have a name?"
"Agatha Harkness," Pietro told him. Stephen closed his eyes with a sigh.
Without a word, he moved his hands and a book materialized in front of me.
"She's a witch. Read about the Salem Witch Trials." I nodded and took the book. "But, if it goes too out of hands, you warn me right away Addison, got it?" I nodded once more.
"Okay, thanks." He shook his head.
"Don't make me regret trusting you with this, and don't tell Wong."
"Noted!" He left and I looked at Pietro.
"And one last thing." He wasn't that much gone as only his head was visible from around the wall. "Chaos Magic is countered by Order Magic. The Book of the Vishanti is full of it along White Magic." He left for good.
Agatha Harkness used to belong to a coven in the late 17th century, her mother was the head of said coven but one day she got her hands on information above her level. Her magic turned into dark magic and the coven was destroyed with Agatha disappearing.
"She's three-century old and has the experience that comes with it," I announced, shutting the book loudly. "Alright, I'm done."
"What?"
"Not with the situation, done with the precautions. We're having a quick talk with Monica and Jimmy and I'm getting us both in." I sent us back next to the Hex.
"And the civilians?" I shot Pietro a look.
"Agatha knows we're here, if anything she's going to make her move soon. If she breaks Wanda's focus, then it should be safe."
We quickly found Jimmy, who told us Monica was inside. We went away from prying eyes and I changed my clothes to my new suit, the Reality Stone shining.
"You're going full Infinity Stone?" he asked me, a little shock.
"I don't really choose to go in that mode Pietro," I replied, flipping through The Book of the Vishanti quickly. "The Stone's inside of me, there are things I can do only with it, others where it's only like a back-up energy source to give me a boost."
"You have to put it down on paper."
"Agree. Once I say your name, pick me up and we're going inside." He nodded and I clapped my hands, rubbing them against each other.
I separated them, dark red, almost black, energy on my hands. I left two fingers raised on each hand, the energy going up them and pointed them at the Hex.
It went through. I spread out my feet a little to have a better balance, magic appearing between my hands. It was redder and connected itself to the one in the Hex, the part in which it was shining brighter.
I started to move my hands apart from each other, the stone warming up against my skin as the Hex was slowly getting opened. I took a deep breath, the opening getting wider and wider. Once it went entirely through, I yelled at Pietro, who grabbed me and we slipped in the Hex.
It closed behind us.
"Pietro?"
"Yeah?"
"Still you, no part in the sitcom?"
"No, you?"
"Nope." We looked at each other, then Westview. "Well...we're in."
"Civilians first."
"Same as usual." I scanned the whole town quickly. "I can't hear Wanda or Agatha, so they must be where Agatha did her business. Vision's with Darcy, she seems alright. The twins...they seem to be fine and near Wanda." I looked at Pietro.
"I know I'm overprotective of my sister but I also know she can take care of herself, especially if family is involved," he assured me. "Let's evacuate this town."
"Let's hope it doesn't take off like in Sokovia." I took a deep breath. "Okay, we need to gather them somewhere and then I can send them away from the Hex."
With a flick of my hand, dark red energy was around Pietro's ears. He turned around, looking everywhere.
"Relax, I just used a spell so that you can hear people's thoughts and know where they are." He scratched his ear.
"It's so annoying."
"Welcome to my world," I said sarcastically. "If we need to, we can communicate this way. My thoughts should be louder."
"I'll get them to the town center, you better make a big portal."
"Roger that. Start from the outskirts and then more to the town center." He ran off and I took off.
I landed on top of the cinema and watched as people started to be in the town center. I took a deep breath and made a portal in front of the theater to the outside. Then, I broke the mind control Wanda had placed on them.
They looked around, confused.
"No time to explain right now, just go!" I yelled at them.
"The Aveng…"
"GO!" They ran in the portal.
I blinked when something flew from the outside to the town. I didn't even know what it was, just that...it was very fast.
I kept evacuating people until I felt Agatha coming my way.
"Pietro abort! The witch is there!"
"You again." I jumped from the building before she could reach me and looked up. "Ha, I get it now, you have the Reality Stone with you! My guess then is Dark Matter Magic, isn't it? It's quite a volatile one, it makes sense you'd be the Sorcerer Supreme's student."
"You know me?"
"I keep up with the news." She disappeared in purple magic.
I turned around to look in the other street. Wanda was there, looking around frantically, wearing sweatpants. It...was far from what she would usually wear. As Agatha explained to Wanda she was the Scarlet Witch, Wanda not believing it, I just stared at the Darkhold that materialized out of thin air. I gulped when she read a few lines about the Scarlet Witch.
She's not born, she's forged. No coven, no need for incantations. Her powers exceeds that of the Sorcerer Supreme.
Aouch.
Her destiny is to destroy the world.
It was heartbreaking to watch Wanda claim it wasn't her and then Westview residents being broken out of her control by Agatha, begging her to let them go.
When Wanda screamed, releasing Chaos magic that started to strangle the civilians, I decided to intervene. I used a counter spell that destroyed what was around their neck. Wanda widened her eyes and looked at me as I got closer.
"Just a sec," I told her, lifting her up.
With my other hand, I made a portal and made it go over the civilians. I closed it before putting Wanda back on the ground. She blinked rapidly at me and pursed her lips when she realized I wasn't there to joke around.
"I didn't...I didn't mean to…"
"It doesn't matter, it happened anyway," I cut her off, stomping to her. She winced, almost as if I had physically hit her.
I stopped once I was in front of her.
"She's right, you are the Scarlet Witch." She gulped. "And it grants you a ton shit of powers, including rewriting reality. The thing is, the hardest thing to do when you can manipulate reality is accepting it as it is."
"I have a family here," she whispered in a hoarse voice.
"Don't let Pietro hear that because after the week we've had, he won't take it well. Neither do I actually." She just looked away, blinking away the tears. "Now you made a mistake. It's a huge one, like Lagos, like joining HYDRA. Worst of it all, you brought her," I pointed at Agatha, who was listening from her spot, "here, which is very annoying. The real question is are you ready to fix the mistake you made by taking this town hostage?" She took a deep breath, shaking a little, and nodded. "Good, then go back to the mindset you had in Sokovia when you became an Avenger and obliterated those fucking Ultron bots." She furrowed her brows. "Clint told me." Agatha started clapping.
"What a speech, if only you had done it before the twins were born." I rolled my eyes and showed Wanda and I.
"Hey, we're kind of having a moment here." I deflected an energy ball thrown at us. "You're ready Wanda?" She nodded.
"It's my mess to fix, isn't it?" she replied. I nodded.
"Good luck." I moved aside, leaving her to deal with Agatha.
I just watched as she tried to bring down the Hex, but then stopped when Vision and the twins started to disappear. Then the military showed up. Vision went back to fight...another Vision, and the twins were asked by their mom to deal with the military. I thought about intervening when Hayward pointed a gun at the kids, but I heard Monica coming, as well as Pietro, and Darcy. While Monica received the bullets, Pietro got the kids out of the way but one of them sent the bullet in the ground.
"Right on time you two," I told them, walking to Pietro. "What took you so long?" He showed me his ears.
"It's very confusing." I removed my spell.
"I had a talk with Wanda, she's handling Agatha now."
"You know our mom?" We looked down at the twins.
"I'm her twin brother," Pietro explained simply, crouching in front of them. "The real Pietro."
"You're giving off better vibes," one of the twins commented and I smiled faintly at that.
I watched Hayward try to retreat but Darcy bumped into his vehicle with hers. I grinned and walked up to his car, jumping on the front of it to crouch in front of him.
"It was an interesting week, I'm sure they will love what you've done here." He glared at me and I bat my lashes at him.
Vision came back, the kids and Monica running to him. I looked at him from afar.
It was...him. The voice was just making it worst. I exchanged a look with Pietro and we joined them. When Vision tried to join Wanda, I forced him to stay here. He looked at the Dark Matter around him, then me.
"Don't get in the middle of it, it's your wife's fight, not yours."
"Who are you?"
"It's the real Uncle Pietro Dad!" They looked at me. "Probably his girlfriend." I rolled my eyes.
"I'm...Addison, I knew JARVIS quite well." He blinked in understanding and nodded.
We watched Wanda throwing magic at the walls of the Hex and I frowned. It was strange. I tried to use magic, but it was getting weaker and weaker.
Ohhhhh...runes so that only the witch that cast them can use magic. Smart. She was hiding them in plain sight. Agatha then absorbed a huge chunk of Chaos Magic from Wanda.
"Come on sis," Pietro whispered next to me. She wasn't moving.
"It's okay, trust her." They all looked at me. "She's got this." Agatha tried to use her magic, but nothing.
I snickered to myself when the gigantic runes were revealed on the walls of the Hex. Wanda then absorbed Agatha's magic as a scarlet light surrounded her. I gasped quietly as Wanda's outfit changed and the wave of magic that she sent.
Agatha slowly fell to the ground, Wanda landed shortly after, the redness and darkness of the sky disappearing to reveal a clear blue sky. As they talked, I sensed the Darkhold still around. When Wanda changed Agatha back to Agnes, I seized the opportunity to steal it. Pietro looked at it in my hands as it disappeared.
"The book of the damned, I'm not leaving it here," I whispered to him as the twins and Vision went to Wanda. They hugged before Wanda raised her eyes at us, gulping when she met her twins' eyes.
"Nice outfit," he told her, trying to defuse the tension. I shook my head and used magic to go back to my usual clothes.
"Uncle Pietro saved us earlier you know!" Wanda smiled at her kids.
"I'm sure he did."
"Who's the lady though?"
"She's your aunt Addie." I blinked at that, taken back and awkwardly raised my hand when the kids looked at me.
I glared at Pietro when he snickered.
They started to leave but Vision stopped and looked at us. Pietro and I nodded, silently telling him we wouldn't leave his wife alone.
"Thank you," he told us sincerely and I gulped.
It was the voice. Since Vision had been born, it had always been the voice that got to me because I had grown up hearing it at Tony's.
I looked at Monica.
"You guys can handle the rest and Hayward?" She nodded.
"He won't see the light of day for a long time." She pursed her lips. "What about White Vision?"
"I'll talk to the Avengers about it. You and Darcy should come by the Compound by the way, just so that you know exactly what you can do now." She pursed her lips.
"Is...Carol still there?" I shook my head. "I see." Pietro elbowed me in the ribs.
"See you around Rambo," the Sokovian told her. I nodded and we walked away. "What a week."
"It's just the beginning."
"Yeah, we got Wanda back but…"
"She needs to learn, like I did last year." He took a deep breath. "With someone to supervise her and know the books she's using are safe to use."
"So not the Darkhold." I slowed down until I stopped walking entirely. "Addie?"
"There are things out there Pietro...that are way out of your comprehension, or even mine. They just exist and they're better where they are," I whispered, staring at the ground. "There are things...worse than Thanos." He clenched his jaw.
"Let's go back to your car," he said softly, his hand between my shoulders. It brought me back to reality and I nodded hastily, swallowing the fear that had filled me.
Cosmic beings, entities, or entities in other dimensions, threats from the Multiverse...Hell, the Living Tribunal could erase this universe if they deemed us a threat to the Multiverse.
That was what the Reality Stone and Death implied.
Once in London...the center of it all, I'd have to study, learn and just know as much as I could about the Multiverse to make sure that if something ever threatens us, I'd be able to or face it, or warn others.
We stayed in silence in the car. After a while, Wanda appeared in front of us, in her regular clothes. Without a word, she walked around the car and got on the backseat. It was silent until I noticed the sign saying we were going toward the Compound or we could change lane to go to New York. I pursed my lips and looked at Wanda in the mirror.
Her face was blank.
I made the turn.
"Wait, that's not the way," Pietro told me, making Wanda raise her head.
"I know."
"Where are we going?" she asked me.
"A safe place."
Thank you all for reading!
Bye!
