During classes, Midoriya felt off the whole time. He couldn't quite understand what was going on for most the day. There were things that he remembered, but then he would be out of focus for a long period of time. Something kept pulling him away from what he was doing. He would try to focus taking notes, but then something unnatural kept pulling him away. He felt like some magical force was pulling him away from class. Midoriya felt like he had to do something about this weird spell or charm.
Whatever happened last night, he felt so weird ever since. He couldn't tell what he was doing fully, and it felt like someone was trying to take over for him. The spell book would definitely help him, but he couldn't get to it. He was in class, and he couldn't get himself to grab it and look through. He didn't want to get a lot of people's attention, but he had to at least grab either Uraraka's or Iida's.
Midoriya could barely do anything as he waited for classes to wrap up. He wanted to reach out to Uraraka there when they walked together, but something was stopping him from doing so. He didn't know if the necklace was stopping him from reaching out to her or not, but it was definitely much stronger than before. He could feel that her necklace was doing something to her.
Midoriya knew that he had help her get it off quick.
Once classes were over, Midoriya didn't know what to do in that moment. He tried to grab the spell book, but something stopped him from grabbing it. He felt like something came over him, and the charm got him to stay away from it. He tried to grab it and push his way through the charm, but he couldn't get his hand to reach it. He noticed that the spell book was rejecting him for some reason as it put up a barrier between him and itself.
Before he could even touch it with his fingertips, Iida walked up to him.
Midoriya snapped out of it, feeling a bit more awake than before. Something about Iida coming over to him seemed to help him focus on what was going on around him. He looked up to see Iida looking a little bit worried.
"Midoriya. Look, I'm sorry about the other night," Iida said to him, "I know that you've been feeling a bit overwhelmed with trying to help Uraraka that I might've been a bit overprotective and stubborn. I mean, we are still friends. I would like to maybe have lunch with you like we always do."
Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, feeling like he was coming back to normal as he apologized. Something about his apology seemed to wake him up. He could feel his backpack, and he could almost reach the spell book. If only he could just take it in that moment, he'd be able to use it stop this charm. He tried to get himself to speak to him, but something was stopping him from doing so.
"I-Iida..." Midoriya said to him, "I-I need yo-your help..."
"I know you need my help. That's why I'm here. I want to help you get rid that necklace," Iida said back, "Uraraka looks like she could use a break as well."
Midoriya couldn't say anything more than that as he tried to reach for the spell book. Iida seemed to notice what he was doing, which caught Midoriya's attention. Before Midoriya knew it, he felt like he was being pulled away again by the charm. He could barely hold on as the spell book pulled him away from Iida. Then he realized that he was stuck within the spell book somehow and couldn't do anything about it.
He could feel that familiar feeling of that magical shop when he got pulled away. He had to do something to warn Iida, but he didn't know what. Before he knew it, he had grabbed Iida by his wrist pretty tightly.
"I-Iida! I-I need help!" Midoriya cried out without meanig to.
Iida's eyes widened in shock, feeling a bit thrown off by what just happened. Everyone was thrown off by his sudden out burst, and they didn't know what was going on. Midoriya gripped onto his wrist, which only confused Iida even more. For a moment, Iida seemed to notice something off about him. Then Midoriya felt something pull him away, causing him lose focus on what was going on.
Midoriya loosened his grip around Iida's wrist and let go of him. He cleared his throat as if it was embarrassing that he had just done that.
"So-Sorry about that," Midoriya said to him, "I-I'm just... nervous about what to do with this spell book. It's not something we usually deal with, you know? It's one of kind. If there's nothing in here about taking off Ochaco's necklace, then I don't know where else to look."
Iida still seemed shook about what just happened, but tried to shake it off as nothing more than just jitters. Midoriya was worried that he might not be able to do anything to stop this charm. He had to use some sort spell or charm to get rid of it, but it wasn't letting up. He wanted to reach out to Iida, but this charm kept getting in the way of it. He could barely say anything, the charm kept making him say things that seemed suspicious. He felt like someone else was taking over the spell book.
Midoriya wondered if this had anything to do with Mr. Amasawa. Whoever or whatever was doing this, he had to get rid of it fast.
"I-It's okay, Midoriya," Iida said back as he adjusted his glasses, "Let's just get to lunch. Maybe something to eat will help you feel better."
"Y-Yeah. Sounds good," Midoriya said back as he got up and put his backpack on.
He could feel his hands trying to reach for the spell book as he grabbed his backpack. He really needed it, but this charm wasn't going away anytime soon. Whatever he had to do in order to grab it, he might need Iida or Uraraka to do so. Then he spotted Uraraka and noticed how different she looked. Something about her stood out more than usual. Her eyes seemed more pink than usual and nobody seemed to notice. Her skin was sparkly in the sunlight and something about her kept emitting a really comforting and calm energy.
It helped him relax, but for some reason seemed to strengthen the charm.
When he walked up to her, she seemed a little off.
"Hey Ochaco," Midoriya said to her, "Are you feeling any better?"
"Oh. Hey Izuku," Uraraka said back, "Y-Yeah. I'm feeling okay."
There was an awkward silence between them, and he didn't know why. She seemed a bit distant with him, and he grew suspicious of her. He looked at her necklace and noticed that it looked energized and more pink than ever before. That seemed to catch his attention and something about it drew him towards it. For a moment, he noticed her listening to something that wasn't there. It looked like she was listening to music, but she didn't have any earbuds in her ears.
Midoriya felt a little suspicious and had a feeling something was going on with her.
"Ochaco. I meant to talk to you about the spell book," Midoriya said to her, "I haven't found anything yet, but I'm sure we'll find something soon. I even might know what's causing your necklace to act like this."
"Re-Really?" Uraraka said with a nervous tone, "I've thought of things that it might be, but I doubt it's anywhere near what it actually is."
"Hey. You never know," Midoriya said back as he glanced at the necklace, "There's definitely something special about the necklace. That Mr. Amasawa seems pretty strong. If he made it for his wife, then she must be pretty special to him."
That caught Uraraka's attention as she whipped her head at him. Iida noticed her eyes, and she seemed to be shocked that he would even talk about him. Something about her reaction caught Midoriya off guard, making him even more suspicious of her. He noticed her trying to keep her composure and went back to walking with them.
"Sorry Izuku, but you can't be serious. Right?" Uraraka asked him, "Mr. Amasawa, whoever he is, he doesn't seem like someone that you should trust. After what has been happening to us, I wouldn't trust that spell book either if I were you. Whatever Mr. Amasawa and... his wife went through, they obviously didn't trust each other."
Midoriya's eyes widened in shock, feeling like he just got woken up again. Uraraka's eyes and what she said seemed to shake him out of that charm quite a bit. He felt like he could barely reach out to her, but the charm was still making him hold back. Something about her mentioning Mr. Amasawa made him feel anger for some reason. He didn't want to be angry at Uraraka, and he could tell that it was this spell book that was making him do this. He had a feeling that Mr. Amasawa had something to do with this charm in particular or this whole spell book for that matter.
Something hit him when he realized that Mr. Amasawa was involved, making him feel sick to his stomach.
Uraraka and Iida noticed him stop in his tracks and were worried about him. Midoriya's eyes widened, feeling like something was wrong with him. The charm felt like it was getting stronger as it stopped him from moving. He couldn't do anything as Iida and Uraraka tried to help him out.
"Midoriya! What's wrong? Are you sick?" Iida asked him, "Please tell me that you didn't use that spell book again? That book is not to be trusted."
Something about that comment made Midoriya even more annoyed. He felt his fists clench in anger as he tried to fight back this charm. He could feel it getting stronger once Iida mentioned the spell book. It seemed to annoy the charm, and he tried to fight it back from hurting Iida any further. He couldn't let this charm hurt anyone. But the charm kept holding him back from doing anything about it.
"Back off!" Midoriya cried out a little too harshly, "I don't need your help!"
Iida's eyes widened in shock, and Midoriya could tell that Uraraka was confused about the whole thing.
"So-Sorry. I-I just don't feel very good," Midoriya said back, "I-It must be something I ate for breakfast. Must've over done it with the spell book."
Midoriya kept going and soon felt a little off as he walked towards the cafeteria. He had to do something about this charm soon, but he could tell that it was preparing to take care of things itself.
And soon.
During lunch, Uraraka felt like Midoriya was pretty disant with her. He didn't even hold her hand all that much. When he did, she felt uncomfortable since he didn't feel quite himself. He clearly didn't feel good, or something happened with the spell book. Sakura had been with her the whole time during classes and told her what was going on.
She had a feeling that Midoriya was in trouble with the spell book. She didn't couldn't pinpoint what it was exactly since she wasn't fully there, but it was definitely something that she needed to be worried about. Uraraka could tell that something was wrong by the way Midoriya looked at his lunch. He played around with it as if he wasn't interested in any of this. He barely said anything unless it had to do with the spell book or the necklace.
Sakura told her to be careful around him, that he something was definitely up with him. Uraraka was worried that Midoriya might see her or notice her around at some point. So far, he didn't seem to notice her in any way. He might've been suspicious when she talked to her, but that was about it. Uraraka wondered if she should grab the spell book during lunch. His backpack was right there by his chair. She wanted to reach out and grab it, but it was too far away.
Uraraka had to grab it somehow before Midoriya noticed that it was gone. She noticed that Midoriya glanced at her, and she looked away a little too quickly. She didn't want him to be suspicious of her, but she still had to act like it was nothing. Uraraka could tell that something was off about him when he looked at her. Something about his eyes looked distant, but she could swear that she saw pink and green in them.
"Ochaco. Is everything okay?" Midoriya asked her.
Uraraka didn't know how to avoid this question, but she really had to find a way to grab the spell book. She might have to wait until after classes. There was no way that she was going to be able to grab it without him noticing. Sakura floated around her, and Uraraka wondered if she could help somehow. Uraraka then realized that she wasn't exactly fully there yet. Still, she thought that maybe the pixie dust could help them somehow.
Uraraka slumped her shoulders, knowing full well that she had to wait just a little while longer. Then she wondered if she could get something out of this somehow. Maybe Midoriya knew more than he was letting on. She had to know something about this spell book and maybe something that might going on with Midoriya and the spell book.
"Y-Yeah. I just... I just want this necklace off. That's all," Uraraka said back, "You know, that spell book. It's pretty interesting the way it works. All of those spells and charms. That Mr. Amasawa guy must've been pretty busy to write all of those books in that shop. I wonder what him and his wife were like. She seems like a nice lady. Something about her seems like she might have been a witch or something magical."
Uraraka glanced at Midoriya and noticed him stop playing with his food. He looked at her, and he seemed hard to read in that moment. Something about it gave her chills. She wondered if he knew about fairies and Sakura in any way even if he didn't get the chance to tell her. The way he looked at her made her realize that there were things that he never got around to telling her.
Then he took a bite of his salad, but seemed frustated for some reason.
"Ochaco. What're you getting at?" Midoriya asked her, causing everyone at the table gave them looks.
Uraraka got him right where she wanted him. Whatever was bothering him, she could tell that it had to do with the spell book or maybe even Sakura.
"I'm just saying, Mr. Amasawa seems like someone that only cares about magical things and not the actual person in front of him. His wife just seems like someone that didn't know what kind of guy he was. He created all of these spells and charms, right? I'm just worried about you, Izuku. I don't want him going after you and your quirk. You know, since it's so special to you. Sakura was special to him as well, just not in the same way that I care about you," Uraraka said to him as she placed her hand on top of his.
Everyone stopped eating and noticed what Uraraka was doing. Uraraka didn't look away and noticed something about his eyes looking much brighter and more green as she held his hand. He couldn't look away as she stayed right there with him. Then something came up, making Midoriya grab his head as if he had a massive headache. Uraraka was worried about him and wondered if she had gone too far.
"Och-Ochaco..." Midoriya said back, "Yo-You've gotta get away from me."
Uraraka's eyes widened in shock and so did everyone else. Before she could touch him, he grabbed his backpack and ran off. Everyone in their class noticed him leaving the cafeteria, and Uraraka and Iida worried about him. She never even got the chance to grab the spell book. She looked down at her hand, feeling something coming off of him. It felt like weird magic coming off of him. It felt different from Sakura's pixie dust.
Whatever it was, she knew that Midoriya was in trouble.
