A/N #1: I was glad to see the feedback for the last chapter so I'll start on my thank yous for that! TORONTOSUN (I wasn't surprised you liked how everyone was okay, but I'm happy to see too. And great that you thought the last chapter was very good writing!) and

Mb (Really glad that you thought the chapter was a wonderfully written update! And great I made you laugh at Castle and Beckett saying I know who the killer is, glad I could do that. You'll see about her reason for killing Cobb, don't worry, I intended to get that explained. You're welcome for the chapter!).

Thanks for the reviews, loved reading them and appreciate the time taken to write them out and send them my way!

A/N #2: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song The Invisible Man written by Roger Taylor, from the Queen album The Miracle.

From The Edge Of The World

"Alright, she said she's not talking now," Brad said, walking inside his office. "And CSU called me, they found some clothing at the hotel suite, there's blood on it."

"So that's it?" Skye asked.

"To a degree, the blood needs to be tested of course and once we have that the DA will charge her," Brad answered. "But your involvement in the case is over. And since I'm not sure if I'll be seeing the four, thank them for finding out about the lap desk and letting us know."

"After as many times as we were saying the name Whitman last night, I'd have been surprised if they hadn't remembered it," Castle said. He then inquired, "And us?"

"You just need to sign the paperwork and then you're going to head with Skye to Briar Grove to finish things there," Brad answered. He flipped through the folder he had in hand and then pulled out some sheets of paper before he said, "Tell the guys they have permission to film you."

"For all three of them?" Skye asked.

Nodding, Brad said, "As long as you don't mention Parry you're fine."

"It wouldn't really help Duncan," Skye replied.

"Okay," Castle said, looking at his wife when he finished signing the last paper after she had. "Hopefully that's it."

"It is," Brad said, picking everything up.

"But… the motive?" Darnley asked, signing the papers as well.

"Falco was right," Brad said. "They had a prenup and it did say if he was convicted of a crime she would get the majority of his assets which were numerous."

"And Cobb?" Beckett asked.

"They were having an affair, I looked at the text messages they sent each other on Cobb's phone," Brad explained. "He was begging her to leave Falco to be with him."

"And Hambleton and Peregrine?" Castle asked.

"She asked Hambleton to kill Cobb," Brad replied. "Texts from her burner phone," he added swiftly. "And she slept with him too."

"Then he shot Cobb?" Mary asked in confusion.

"No, he backed out after they'd had in fact slept together," Brad said. "I get the feeling Peregrine was his last ditch effort to help blame Falco."

"Their hair," Castle said.

"It looks like that was the reason for Peregrine's hair change and her asking Hambleton in the first place," Brad replied, nodding. "But with regards to Parry killing Cobb, she told him her husband wanted the three of them to investigate the building across from Briar Grove-"

"I almost forgot about that," Castle interrupted. "Sorry," he said swiftly when his friend was looking at him pointedly.

"And he believed that?" Beckett asked.

"Before you answer that," Skye said quickly to Brad. "He says she wanted to give him that since he had always wanted to investigate that building. And then she would start the divorce." She hesitated and said, "He thought she was serious since she had always told him she was tired of Falco," not surprised when the chief responded.

"That seems in line with what Parry was trying to do," Brad said. "And since she was a great actress apparently… I feel even worse for Cobb."

"So do I," Darnley said, looking at Beckett.

"I know," she replied. "But we did find out who killed him." She paused and then asked Skye, "You agree now she's the skeptic right?"

"Don't I need to?" the investigator asked since she had been doubtful. "But hearing from her herself that she hated the work her husband did it's not a surprise. The pictures and set of chalk point to that. And if you're worried about the portals I've gotten in touch with the places where I could, told them how to get everything set."

"At least you realize," Beckett said, smiling when Skye was rolling her eyes before she was smiling too. She then asked, "It's time?"

"Let me call Zak and make sure they're ready," the investigator replied as she got her phone out of her pocket.

"Are you ready for this?" Castle asked his wife in a low voice.

"I am, I'm not doing anything," Beckett reminded him. She squeezed his hand briefly and then looked over to Skye as she was hanging up. "All set?" she asked.

"Yeah," the investigator replied. "They'll meet us at the house."

"Who's contacting the owner?" Castle asked.

"Zak will," Skye said before they were turning to Brad.

"You're done," the chief said, doing his best not to smile at them. "So I'll see you guys… when I see you?"

"We're leaving tomorrow morning," Skye said. "I'll be getting our tickets while we're on our way to Briar Grove," she added to the others.

"Then thank you for your help," Brad said, shaking her hand and then Mary's.

"Thanks for allowing us to film," Skye replied. "And don't forget we'll see you at the B ."

"Right," Brad said before he paused. "I did forget."

"You've been kind of swamped," Castle commented.

"A little," Brad said before he was telling them goodbye while they were leaving.

"Do I need to come?" Darnley asked.

"It'd probably be a good idea," Skye said. "You were there when Fox and… Hold on a second," she said, turning and rushing back to Brad's office.

"Oh… is she asking about me?" Fox asked, walking up to them. "Because I already have permission from the chief to go."

"I think she just found out," Castle said, watching Skye leave.

"I had to make sure since you need to go too," the investigator said once she had reached all of them. She then asked, "Are you taking your patrol car?"

"I'm going out on patrol after this, Chief told me," Fox replied. She paused and then said slowly, "If I'm able to."

"You will," Skye said before they were heading outside since they'd been walking. "I don't mind visiting," she said, looking up at the flakes of snow floating around. "But I'm not a fan of it in the winter."

"It won't be that bad," Darnley said.

"Are you going with her?" Beckett asked, watching him going towards the officer.

"I can start my patrol on your street after," Fox commented. "Brad wants me to go around that area to start with."

"Did he ask you to do that?" Mary asked.

"He wanted you to have an escort… just to make sure," Fox said.

"And for you too I would imagine," Skye commented.

"I'm fine," Fox replied swiftly. "But we better go," she added, the investigator nodding before she spoke.

"Good idea, I need to get the tickets back home," Skye replied.

After getting into the car, Beckett listened in with the others while the investigator was on the phone, surprised to hear her so cheerful at the end of the conversation before she was hanging up. "Good news?" she asked.

"Really good news," Skye replied, calming down. "Though we might have to book it grá."

"You got tickets for today?" Mary asked in surprise.

Nodding Skye said, "They have three seats on an Alaska Airlines out of La Guardia, I took it."

"I don't blame you," Castle said swiftly.

"Neither do I," Beckett added.

"And I actually managed to get tickets for the four out of Newark tonight," Skye said. When she saw the way her friend was smiling she asked, "Expected?"

"I figured if you went home then they would want to leave themselves," Beckett answered with a nod.

"Where are they going again?" Castle asked.

"There was a change of plans," Skye answered, looking at her phone for a moment. "They're going to D.C. they got permission from The Octagon House to do a lockdown there." She wasn't surprised when her wife and Beckett were turning to her at the same time and said, "I may have called in and asked for them."

"How did that work?" Castle couldn't help asking as they were nearing the building.

"They knew who I was and I said I would have my friend down there help… well I should say attempt to assist the spirits there in passing on," Skye replied.

"Dunbar?" Mary asked.

Nodding Skye explained to the writers, "Vinny Dunbar is a medium and he and I know each other from the NTSB training we both did. He didn't continue though, he works at the Vice President's residence."

"Really," Castle said.

"Yes, but that I have to tell the four once we see them," Skye commented, looking out the window.

"I thought the owner-" Castle started to say.

"Hold on," Skye interrupted him.

"I'm sure Zak knows why he didn't come," Beckett told her husband before they were following the investigator out of the car.

"He said he doesn't want to come in again unless you clear everything," the lead investigator was telling Skye.

"Did he come into the house?" she asked.

"He said he pulled up last night to the garage, stepped out and got right back in," Zak said.

"It's the tunnel to the garage from the rowing building and Martin," Skye immediately stated while the others were looking at her, nodding to the house they'd found out had been used by the rowing team of one of the local colleges during the early 1900s. "He's able to move around but his regret at what he did to himself is still here. Please tell me you have sage."

"We do," Jay said first, getting some out of his bag.

Turning at the sound of another car, Fox said, "You called Mia to come," to Skye before Darnley was speaking next to her in surprise as well.

"And Trevor?" the carpenter said.

"That's for Martin and Anais," Skye explained. "And for you especially," she told Fox.

"I had a feeling," the officer said before she went to her girlfriend. "Is it okay that you're here?"

"I'm covered," Harrington assured her, sharing a brief hug with her. "How're you doing?"

"Great, I haven't really felt much… until we got here," Fox admitted, looking around the grounds.

"Stay here," Skye was saying as she held a bundle of incense. "I need to clear the emotions here or else Martin isn't going to be able to pass fully."

Watching the others leave, Nkosi said, "Patrick was alright after you were here last time, wasn't he?"

"He was," Beckett said immediately. "Trust Skye on that."

Nodding Nkosi said, "I just wanted to make sure." He then turned to his husband and said, "I'm taking you home after this."

"Don't worry," Darnley assured him with a smile. "We're finished with the case."

"I have to go on patrol," Fox said. "I need to follow them home, but I can give you a ride to the museum."

"Really?" Harrington asked since that had been directed to her.

"Really," Fox replied. "Though let me get in touch with the chief and see if that's alright." She turned away from the others and went to her car to use her radio to contact Brad.

"Will she be able to do that?" Harrington asked the others, speaking quickly since she could see the McDouglas women were returning with the GA men.

"Brad would allow it," Castle assured her.

"Okay," Skye said. "Before we can head into the house…"

"She's just getting in touch with Brad," Castle said swiftly, thinking the investigator was looking at the officer.

"I have one more place to clear," Skye told them before she was making her way to the garage. "We'll be back in a hurry."

"A hurry?" Nkosi asked after the same group had left again.

"They have a flight today," Beckett explained.

"Understandable," Darnley said before they waited. It took a little longer that time before they were watching the others leaving the garage before he said, "The house now?"

"Into the house everyone," Skye said, leading the way though she let Zak open up the three seasons room. She had everyone gather in the living room while she stood at the Victrola and said, "They wanted to listen one more time before they go." She smiled slightly when no one made any objections and proceeded to wind up the player before she put the needle on the record.

Silent while Down Hearted Blues was playing, Beckett looked around the room before she turned to the inside of the circle they'd all made together. Aaron, Jay and Billy were using different cameras and walking around the room, while Zak was filming Skye until the song ended and she began to speak though she wasn't addressing them.

"Everything is wrapped up now Anais, Martin," she told them. "We know who the killer is and as soon as that DNA is proven to be yours Anais it will be announced. There's nothing binding you here, go together to the light."

Beckett, her hand close to her husband's, suddenly reached for it and squeezed at it when she had the sudden sensation of tension in the room easing off. "Was that…" she started to say to Skye.

"Yeah, that was them leaving," the investigator nodded, turning to the others. "You can sense it can't you?"

"I can," Zak said. "But what about Cobb?"

"He's waiting," Skye replied with a smile before she turned to Fox. Seeing her and Harrington holding hands she asked, "Alright?"

Nodding rapidly, Fox said, "Is he behind us?"

"He's approaching, he's ready to go," Skye explained. "Duncan? Your parents are here for you, I hope you'll join them."

Looking at his wife when she was squeezing at his hand again after they were all silent for a little, Castle said, "It's over."

"It is," Skye replied, breathing out heavily before her wife was embracing her. "It's okay," she told the doctor. "I had Anais and Duncan with me for a while."

"And now we're going back to the house," Mary said firmly, looking around at the others.

"Go ahead," Zak said. "We're going to head around the house and just document the changes."

"But we'll be fast," Billy said. "We want to move on to D.C."

"I thought you would," Skye said with a smile and a nod. "But we can leave." As they were walking outside she went to Beckett and said, "You sensed them leaving."

"Everyone did," she replied a little uneasily.

"Kate-" Castle started to say before she was stopping him.

"The room seemed to get brighter," Beckett explained to her friend. "Briefly. Mostly it was a release of…"

"Negative vibrations, that's how I describe it," Skye took up for her. Stepping outside with them she said, "At least it's over and Briar Grove is habitable again."

"And we can all go home," Mary said firmly.

"Or get back to normal at work," Fox couldn't help saying.

"Or that," Skye said before they were laughing briefly together and heading to their cars. She glanced back at the manor, appearing much brighter in the late morning sun, then turned to her wife to focus on them getting home to their family.
