A/N: Hello, everyone! I just want to thank you for enjoying this story. I'm absolutely amazed by how well received it was. And I hope you'll enjoy this and all future chapters as much or more than you did the last one.
And sorry to everyone that doesn't like or has issues with RageGamingVideos lore. I know he can be pretty biased and he DEFINITELY makes up some parts of lore, but he's still one of the best and really only sources of lore for many monsters. I know there are more, but not very many more lore channels out there and many of them haven't covered the monsters he has. But know that in cases where there are better examples of lore, I'll do my best to use those instead.
"Oh, yeah! I can't wait! Show me my awesome lightning monster! I bet it's gonna some kind of crazy thunder wolf! Or may super electric dragon-bug hybrid!" Nora declared excitedly.
"If you don't calm down and watch, we'll never know, Nora." Ren reminded her.
"Oh, right. Sorry." Nora said, sitting down.
"I always thought lightning would be my second element of choice after ice." Weiss noted.
"Well, let's see what you've got to show us, Katana." Qrow said, raising his drink.
"You got it." Katana complied, starting the next video. To say the group wasn't expecting the first clip would be an understatement.
A cartoon was then shown of an incredibly fluffy pink unicorn with wide eyes and a huge smile as it danced on a rainbow. "Pink, fluffy unicorns~ dancing on rainbows!" A voice sang as very transparent, yet still visible thunderclouds could be seen.
"Really?" Qrow asked, deadpanned.
"You have got to be kidding..." Ironwood asked.
"No way! I don't believe it! I can't ride that thing into battle!" Nora cried out.
"Wait a minute. Is it just me, or does that look like storm clouds?" Weiss pointed out.
"Pink, fluffy uni-" The song was suddenly interrupted by several huge flashes of lightning, as a glowing, almost crystalline-looking cyan unicorn with a white beard and mane and dark blue lightning bolt-like stripes over its body slowly walked into view.
"Neigh..." The familiar voice of the narrator from the last viewing said in a deep tone. "And now, you're going to die!" An automated feminine voice declared, before techno music began playing as the unicorn rose onto its hind legs, kicking them out wildly, before landing back on all fours and scraping one of its hooves on the ground for preparation and intimidation as more mystical, intense music began to play.
Everyone jumped at the lightning strike, before witnessing this new unicorn in awe. "Well, now. That's more like it." Cinder said with a smirk, admiring the more dangerous vibe from this unicorn.
"That thing's awesome!" Jaune said.
"And it certainly does feel like it'd connect well with Nora." Ren admitted.
"Hello, my fellow hunters! It's time to talk, then, about the psychopath. The murderous death pony who spends his time pretending to be calm, relaxed, peaceful... when in secret, he spends his evenings plotting, planning the most painful way to rip off your head and send thunder down the stump." The narrator declared in a vicious tone as a female hunter in red armor with a massive sword on her back that appeared to have rockets on it was walking beside the monster as it walked along peacefully.
"Or, perhaps not." Pyrrha said, horrified at the description of this monster's personality.
"I'll take it instead." Neo declared.
"I don't think anyone on Remnant should have something like that anywhere near them." Glynda said.
"Wait, what is that weapon on that girl's back! It looks so awesome!" Velvet said, snapping several pics of it.
"That is the Wyvern Ignition blade. One of the newest and most powerful weapons they've created and generally, Aylia's weapon of choice until sadly, it became insufficient for the task she had at hand." Katana explained.
"I want it... So bad..." Ruby said.
"But also, he does really find all life to be... sacred, so he is a complex individual. It depends on his mood at the moment, really. Kirin is a mystery, he is an enigma, he arrives in the blink of an eye and is gone much the same. Researching him is nigh impossible, a specimen yet to be acquired. What little we know is from brief observations in the field. But needless to say, it is a beautiful beast. Flowing white hair, crackling with power. One of the most dazzling, sought after horns of all the monsters. Moving with an effortless grace, a phantom on the wind, indeed he is the phantom beast. When his eyes look into you, they see through your veneer, down to your very core... your very soul..." The narrator explained.
"So it can see your true self and detect what kind of person you are. Amazing." Blake said, wishing she had that kind of ability.
"Indeed. If more of us had that ability, it'd be far more difficult for people like Salem or Torchwick to get away with anything." Winter said.
"I bet Kirin would love all of us... Or at least, most of us." Yang said, looking uncertainly at Cinder and Neo.
"Either peaceful as can be or the most vicious creature to be found, all based on what it reads from your soul. It truly seems to be a being balancing peace and harmony." OZpin noted, respecting the creature.
The narrator spoke again, but this time with eerie, mysterious music accompanying his echoing voice. "An Elder Dragon, so rarely sighted that little is known of their ecology. Yet everyone is aware of the high prices their parts fetch. It is said they are one with lightning itself and their bodies become clothed in pure electricity when they are provoked. And indeed, I think we can all certainly agree that is most certainly the case, one of the most deadly creatures in the New World." The narrator explained as Aylia attacked the Kirin, who didn't even seem bothered being slashed with such a massive weapon, but now was angered and ready to fight. A horizontal line lighting up and sparking with electricity appearing where Aylia was standing, forcing her to run off the line, before lightning struck down the entire line.
Everyone was shocked the display of lightning powers before them. "Whoa. That's one powerful pony." Coco said, amazed.
"It had lightning strike down that entire line. That's impossible! Lightning can only travel a single path to the ground by ionizing the air. It should only be striking a single point and not down an entire line." Penny said, unable to compute and comprehend what she was witnessing.
"Kirin's an Elder Dragon, Penny. And Elder Dragons are basically forces of nature, living embodiment of the elements. They are the impossible." Katana assured her.
"In fact, we recently caught up with a hunter who'd had an encounter and they had this to say." The narrator said as the scene suddenly changed to a movie that seemed to be taking place at some kind of carnival.
"It's electrifying!" A young greaser declared, dropping to his knees, then to the ground while convulsing, mimicking being electrocuted as three men in leather jackets, with the heads of a wolf-like, crocodile-like and eel-like monsters photoshopped over them, then a woman with Kirin's head observed his actions.
"What... was that?" Ironwood questioned.
"And what were those things?" Neo asked.
"That clip was from a musical called Grease. One of the songs in it was called 'Electrifying'. It helped the narrator get his point across. And those creatures are all ones we'll learn about later. For now, I'll simply say they're all creatures of electrical power, but they don't hold a candle, or taser in this case, to Kirin." Katana explained.
"The first two were quite fascinating, but I'm in no hurry to see that last one." Winter said.
"Superficially, then, he looks like a unicorn, but far from hide that covers his body, he is coated in a dazzling, delicate array of scales, the white hair, protruding through around his body. In fact, the main event is, well, the mane and the rest of the hair as he walks gracefully through his environment, which granted, is essentially everywhere. Kirin sightings have spread throughout the world. Where he actually calls home, where he actually nests... Well, that is a mystery all unto itself. No one has ever been able to track a Kirin for long." The narrator explained.
"I bet we totally could!" Ruby declared.
"Don't get cocky, Red. If these hunters are so skilled, there must be a good reason they can't track them too far." Cinder warned her.
"I'd be more than willing to take that challenge in the name of science." Weiss said.
"You just want to take a baby Kirin for yourself, don't you?" Blake questioned.
"You can't prove that!" Weiss snapped.
"Weiss, we caught you in one of your little schemes, don't try to deny it." Yang said, pinching Weiss cheek and jiggling it a bit as Weiss slapped wildly to get her away.
"But as he drifts from place to place, his fur picks up ambient electricity, causing him to crackle softly with its splendor. He can then store this, slowly but surely within himself to be discharged at a later points. But more than that, and above and beyond those other monsters of thunder, his horn acts as a lightning rod and even with not a cloud in the sky, can call down shattering bolts of lightning. This is the most potent electrical display by any monster, a mastery over current that none can compete with, delivering deadly voltage with expert precision and, well... lightning speeds, being on a Kirin's bad side is a one way ticket to your grave." The narrator went on as the fight between Aylia and the Kirin went on, the Kirin bringing down lighting all around, even in in large focused areas all at once and still shrugging off hits from the giant blade.
"Oh, that thing is so awesome! And with all that lightning it can put out, I could have my semblance fully charged all the time! And it'd be a nice little nostalgia to when I discovered my semblance." Nora said with a smile.
"That'd be awesome. Our team's hardest hitter would always be hitting as hard as she could!" Jaune said excitedly.
"Out of curiosity, how did you unlock your semblance, Nora?" Pyrrha asked.
"She survived being struck by lightning." Ren explained, shocking everyone.
"Dang... We may have some competition." Coco said, Yang nodding.
"Kirin, then, while a, uh... FUCKING PSYCHOPATH! In combat, outside of it, is as pacifist as they come. He will not even bend a blade of grass he walks upon. He will not disturb a branch that he passes, or bend a leaf out of place. This creature seems to have the utmost respect for the world around it. For nature. And wishes to pass through as if he was never there. Almost like a warden of the wild: watching, never interfering, unless deeply provoked." The narrator explained, almost mystically as Kirin seeing to be walking along, observing Aylia, even as it laid out lines of lightning to destroy her.
"To be so casual, even when putting out such power... It's unreal." Winter said in awe.
"I like how peaceful it is, though. How it doesn't try to disturb anything. It's like the exact opposite of the Grimm." Velvet said with a smile.
"Indeed. And it could likely help me charge my batteries when they run low!" Penny said excitedly.
"Capable of moving at incredible speeds, it is this that gives him the reputation of being one with lightning, crossing great distances in the blink of an eye, moving at hundreds of meters per second, able to skip along the surface of water as if it was simply hard ground. We do have a dramatic reenactment of how Kirin made it to the new world." The narrator explained.
Suddenly, there was a clip of what they could piece together was a boy about half Ruby's height, wearing a strange red, yellow and black suit like a superhero, with Kirin's head photoshopped over his, running on the surface of the water. The boy then laughed, before taking off at even greater speeds. [1]
"Whoa, that's cool!" Neo said, bouncing excitedly.
"Quite impressive. Such speeds may even match Miss Rose." Glynda said, amazed.
"And so young as well. Where is this from?" Ozpin asked.
"A movie the Incredibles. It was pretty good and got an epic sequel fourteen years later." Katana said.
"Fourteen? That's quite the wait." Qrow said in surprise.
"But be wary approaching the Kirin. Some have been allowed to place a hand upon its side, feel the soft buzz, the tingle, the warm glow, but others, hunters, have seen the wrath of this God of Thunder. A Kirin has been known to destroy an entire village in its rampage, obliterating buildings left and right with the might of the sky. It feels like the very forces of the world rise up against you when a Kirin is involved. You cannot run from the sky. You cannot run from lightning... Unless it feels like toying with you and charging up its lightning, which shows where its going to strike." The narrator explained, the screen going black as he whispered this last tidbit. [2]
"So, even these Elder Dragons can get a bit cocky from time to time." Cinder noted.
"If they're as intelligent as humans, it looks like they can have an attitude problem, too." Coco said.
"It does seem to be taunting its opponents at times when it scuffs its hooves." Ren pointed out.
"Kirin's have been known to launch lightning from great distances and then appear where the bolt strikes, leading them to have the legend of teleportation, but it is their obscenely powerful legs, the charge through with electricity, causing the muscles to explode in controlled spasms, powering him to where he needs to be. There's no knowledge of where a Kirin fits into the ecosystem. There is no known information on anything that would give it even the slightest semblance of animalistic nature, save one. In that, it is hunted. Hunted by the Rajang, the only creature capable of scratching it without a complete surprise attack." The narrator explained as a Kirin was shown on a snowy mountain top, something dashing past the view. Kirin was then shown from the front as something rushed at it from behind, the Kirin dodging to reveal a dark brown gorilla/baboon creature that leapt towards it, narrowly missing.
Everyone grew cautious as they saw something dash past their view, but then jumped when the strange and terrifying ape creature leap where the Kirin once stood, getting a good look at its blood red eyes. "What is that thing!?" Ruby cried.
"Those eyes... I only see anger and hunger behind them." Ozpin said in awe. Cinder shivered at that description, reminding her too much of how Salem described her once. And she did not want to be the same as that creature.
"Oh, dang. I forgot that showed up in this. Well, that's the Rajang. One of the most powerful monsters known in our world and the monster that fits Yang the best. And it feeds on Kirin, like the narrator said, but it's recently been discovered they only actually break off an eat the horn." Katana explained.
"What?! Why do I get some creepy, evil-looking monkey?!" Yang demanded.
"You'll see." Katana said.
"Keep your monkey away from my pony, Xiao Long!" Nora warned.
"That sounds wrong..." Velvet said.
The Kirin then ran up a higher and steeper cliffside, the Rajang managing to follow it the entire time. The Kirin reached a seemingly safe flat area, before the Rajang leapt up high and attempted to crash down on the unicorn with its fists, but it disappeared in a flash of blue electricity. "He absorbs the electrical prowess when he consumes the kill and gains the absurd power it possesses, leading some to suspect that if any should consume a Kirin, then they, too, would ascend." The narrator continued as the Kirin reappeared at the peak of the mountain and fired down several bolts of lightning onto the primate, which only seemed to irritate and anger the beast. Suddenly, in a flash of yellow as the beast roared in fury, the Rajang's fur stood up and became golden.
"It just turned gold!" Jaune cried out.
"Okay, I'm liking the gold. Maybe it's not so creepy after all." Coco said.
"So, it's just like my semblance!" Yang noted.
"Definitely similar, but I don't know if it's the exact same." Blake agreed.
"So, a strong, scrappy monster that turns gold. I'd say it fits her to a T." Cinder stated.
"Or, it steals power from others to get stronger. I'd say it's a better fit for you." Weiss said harshly, causing Cinder to flinch and look away.
"Was that really necessary?" Ruby asked.
The beast then fired a devastating golden beam of electricity at its prey, but the Kirin vanished once more the instant before the attack connected, the beam still destroying the edge of the mountain top where Kirin stood. The Rajang leapt up afterwards, looking for a meal, but found nothing. "Alas, though, Kirin is rare and the frequency at which they are hunted... well, is almost lower than any other target the Guild possesses. When right furiously proper pissed off, the Kirin wreathes itself in lightning, its hair standing on end, floating with static as it becomes a true visage of menace. An almost unearthly entity as it washes the land with electricity, purging those that would cause it such discomfort." The narrator explained as the Kirin struggled to throw Aylia off as she mounted the mighty beast and began stabbing it with a pair of smaller blades.
"Such a powerful force with so little known about it. That makes it even more dangerous." Winter said, somewhat unnerved.
"Uh. I hate static. It makes dealing with your hair a nightmare." Neo said, Yang nodding in agreement.
"It really does look like a completely different creature. And a far cry from the peaceful one we saw from before." Glynda noted.
"When we're truly pushed to the edge, we may turn into a whole different person in the heat of the moment." Ren stated, remembering what Katana told them about his future encounter with the Nuckelavee.
"Its scales lock together and charge themselves, repelling all manner of attacks: bladed, blunt, explosive or otherwise, leaving only its horn vulnerable. And while it can be shattered, this nary effects his control of the storm, but it does symbolize that a Kirin is weak and near the end. It is believed that a Kirin's metabolism is obscenely high, aiding in the acquisition of its deadly arsenal. But, while frail compared to many, the Kirin is no slouch. Its kicks can cave in breastplate and chest with ease. Its horn gore hunters down before they've had a chance to react. It is a competent fighter, weaving in and out of the battle without being able to be tracked or even seen, before you know it, you are either pierced or fried." The narrator went on as Aylia and the Kirin were on even footing, the Huntress landing several powerful hits and even knocking the beast down a couple times, but also suffering several lightning strikes.
"Such power from a creature smaller than most Grimm." Ironwood said, amazed.
"You know what they say, Jimmy, big things come in small packages." Qrow told him.
"The way the scales lock together and charge sounds quite impressive. I haven't heard of any other creature or even machine being able to do that." Penny noted
"But even the greatest defense has a weakness. Like the voice said, the horn could still be damaged." Pyrrha reminded them.
"It is one of the greatest achievements a hunter can ever call his own to be the slayer of the phantom beast. But that is all we know of this utmost seldom seen, majestic creature. We know not from where it came, not from where it goes, not how it lives, not what it knows. Barely how it functions and altogether, there's a right big question mark over it. All we know is that fighting it is irritating as fuck and every single feint has you feeling like..." The narrator explained, before suddenly cutting away.
A clip was then shown of a man looking down, sobbing, before raising his head to the sky. "He can't keep getting away with it!" The man cried out to the heavens, before the screen went black with the sound of a thunder clap, implying the man was struck down by Kirin.
Everyone looked to Katana. "Breaking Bad. A show about a drug dealer. It was a big hit, but I never really got into it." Katana explained.
"Likely for the best. TV shows should never glamorize drug usage or making. They're illegal for a reason." Ironwood said.
"I don't see why it's a big achievement to kill a Kirin. I get it's tough to do, but you shouldn't be trying in the first place, if they're really that peaceful and keep to themselves." Ruby said, upset about the idea of killing an innocent creature like that.
"I'm sure the ones they're sent after did something to deserve it, Ruby." Weiss assured her.
"Right. It's important for you to learn, little Rose, for as many good ones as there are, there's still bound to be some dark ones. Not everyone can be a hero. There will always be some villains." Cinder told Ruby.
"It is simply a constant, simply accepted in the monster hunting community that Kirin is out there, Kirin can appear and one wrong move, one snapped twig... Well, can mean an apocalyptic, charged disaster on all those you care about. Similarly, though, there are those that believe that the Kirin is a blessing, to see one, good luck. That they will appear in times of need to help those who are desperate. It almost makes one think that Kirin is simply an agent of mother nature, being delivered wherever it is needed. Or perhaps, wherever it is most wanted." The narrator explained as Aylia followed the limping Kirin all the way to the highest point of the area, where it laid down to rest.
"I'd like to believe that as well." Pyrrha said with a smile.
"Agreed. The Kirin has certainly shown itself to be a far more benevolent creature than the nightmarish one the narrator has mostly described." Penny agreed.
"Yeah! I get a good luck pony!" Nora cheered.
"Our team could definitely use a little luck from time." Jaune said.
"There is, then, another little taste of Kirin and this one much cooler. The Oroshi Kirin!" The narrator declared as a new area was shown with a group of two hunters and a cat facing off against a dark midnight blue Kirin with icy white lines down its body.
Everyone was awed at this appearance of this darker Kirin. "That mist it's giving off... Does it have ice powers?" Winter asked, to which Katana nodded.
"It's intimidating, but also so beautiful..." Weiss said in awe.
"An ice unicorn? Wait, is that the kind of horse you said you have?" Neo asked.
"No, mine's different." Katana explained.
"Much darker in nature, the horn purple, it looks really freaking cool. This subspecies is all about the frost, sending great sheets of ice cascading, using its horn as a conduit, well, it is beautiful. Glimmering in the air, frozen particles as they wrap you in the icy embrace and claim your heart in a prison of snow. The Oroshi Kirin is even more mysterious than the normal Kirin, how it gets like this is unbeknownst, though no encounter between the two has even been observed, merely the occasional corpse with all too familiar markings." The voice explained as the group of hunters seemed to be having a harder time against this Kirin together than Aylia did on her own.
"Dang, that's one tough horse. It's giving two hunters a run for their money when the girl with the rocket sword could handle one normal Kirin." Qrow noted.
"The power difference must be truly substantial." Ozpin agreed.
"And it would likely tolerate the cold of Atlas far better than the normal ones." Ironwood thought.
"Don't even think about it, Jimmy... I'm not letting you have an army of ice horses." Katana warned him.
"The Oroshi Kirin controls the cold air, shaping it and forming it into what he desires. Capable of huge swaths of ice rising and swirling, coating the world in frozen void, he can put an entire village in stasis via simply passing through. How it is able to so drastically the temperature around it is unknown. What is known is that if all of a sudden a freezing fog creeps in... well, be careful, because an Oroshi Kirin is likely very close behind. Some have even reported in brief encounters that they felt the very insides of their body start to cool, almost like Oroshi is capable of freezing a living creature from the inside out. His deadliness is of the utmost potential. But he's even rarer than normal, on one hand can be counter the number of sightings." The narrator finished.
"That is one... CHILL horse!" Yang said, everyone groaning.
"I'd like to go to jail now, please! It's better than her puns!" Neo pleaded.
"Still, Kirin was so awesome. All that lightning is so cool. And it's a lot like me. I'll be nice as long as you're nice, but mess with me or my friends and I'll fuck your whole world up!" Nora declared.
"Miss Valkyrie!" Glynda cried out, shocked and appalled.
"And it's super fast, too! It's so awesome!" Ruby cheered.
"I'd like to have an Oroshi Kirin." Weiss said.
"It would go along well with the rest of your aesthetic. It would make a fine mount in battle for any of us." Winter agreed.
"I gotta give it props, I wasn't expecting that little pony to pack so much punch." Qrow admitted.
"It simply goes to show, big things come in small packages." Ozpin said.
"So, what's next?" Jaune asked.
"Well, I think it's time we hear a little bit about the cats before we go any further." Katana said, starting the next episode.
A/N: Thank you all so much for watching! I hope you enjoyed it! Be sure to leave a review, let me know if there's any parts in particular you liked, or which monsters you'd like to see in the future.
Also, I promised my friend 1jesus that I'd put his suggestion for a challenge in the next chapter I updated. He was planning on having RWBY react to the DC Cinematic Universe, but sadly lost the enthusiasm for it, but then got the idea of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power reacting to those DC live action movies like after season 5, the Monitor making them watch and witness the action of superheroes and what real evil look like. Or you could pick up his first idea, either way, it's up to you.
[1] Wow. I just checked while writing this and found there are NO RWBY/Incredibles stories on here... That just feels wrong.
[2] Like what I'm doing with Avengers Watch RWBY, I'm trying to remove anything that makes it obvious this is fictional or from a video game.
