I know it's been a long time since I've updated. I'm no writer as I'm sure you all can see.
I'm going to make this the final Chapter. It's just going to be a summary of what I had in mind. I wanted to at least give everyone an ending to the story.
Over the next few weeks, the crew got all the shield emitters replaced. With the new emitters, the ship was now air tight even with all the hull damage. They also were able to get to the main engineering section and replaced the damaged power conduits. The crew was in good spirits with all the repairs and the supplies they received from Earth. After the second resupply from Langara, they were told that the planet could only handle one for connection to destiny otherwise the planet would explode.
During the Repairs, it was decided that they would not try and create new drive modules due to the complexities of the drive. In the end, they used nanites to repair some of them. Even with nanites, each drive section took a week to repair.
Once the power conduits were repaired, Destiny had restarted the countdown with 1 week on thIe clock. Despite the efforts of Thor and the crew, they were unable to convince the ship to put more time on the clock for more repairs. So with limited time on the clock, the crew focused on filling as many resource crystalsas possible, bringing the crew back to the ship from the planet. And fixing as many of the secondary power conduits as possible.
One month after Destiny became stranded, the ship was ready to continue her mission.
Col. Young walks into the mess hall and sits down with Eli and Rush.
"Well, how's the ship looking? Are we ready to go into FTL?" Young asked.
"Ready as we will ever be. Just wish Destiny would give up more time for repairs." Eli replied
"We should be lucky we had as much time as we did Eli. We can still do repairs while we are in FTL. But to answeryour question Colonel, we are set to go. Most of the conduits have been repaired, the shield emitters have been replaced and 4 of the drive pods havebeen repaired as well. With how much energy we've used, the ship will recharge in the star and continue on. We have about an hour before we break orbit." Rush said.
"Sounds good. All the crew and supplies from the planet are already aboard. Once we go to FTL, I want both of you to take a couple days off. Neither of you have taken a break in weeks." Young said while staring at Rush.
An hour later, Destiny broke orbit, refueled in the star and jumped to FTL to continue her mission.
A week later, Destiny drops out of FTL outside a solarsystem with a yellow star. There are four planets in the system but all of them are uninhabitable. In the gate room, Eli was at one of the consoles checking to see if there are any gates in range.
"Rush, come in." Eli said into his radio.
"What is it Eli? I'm a bit busy here." Rush replied from his seat in the Core interface.
"Destiny is showing 5 gates in range but isn't allowing me to dial the gate even when I try and override the dialing program." Eli said.
As Eli finished, the ships sensors picked up multiple ships in the system near the sun.
"Eli, forget about the gate, the ship just picked up multiple ships in the system. I'll meet you and Young on the bridge." Rush replied and he headed for the bridge.
Once on the bridge, Eli heads to the sensor station while Rush sits in the captains chair. Young walks in just as Eli figures out what the ships are.
"Oh wow. The sensors are showing 12 seed ships orbiting the sun!" Eli said while trying to contain his excitement.
"WHAT?!" Rush and Young replied in unison.
Both Young and Rush head over to Eli. Rush confirms what the sensors show.
Outside the ship, we see one of the seed ships dive into the sun. Once inside the sun, the gate inside the seed ship dials and a wormhole is established for a fraction of a second before disengaging and the ship climbs out of the star.
Back on Earth, everyone in Atlantis was confused because they received an incoming wormhole only for it to disconnect as soon as it had connected. Looking through the logs, Mckay discovered that an unknown signal was sent through the wormhole. In orbit, the Hammond noticed strange activity coming from the asteroid belt. Carter order them to investigate the activity. As they got closer to the asteroid belt, they seen several asteroids breaking apart revealing strange metal objects. Suddenly they all began to move to form a supergate.
Back with Destiny, 8 of the seed ships formed a circular formation. The bottom of each ship opened up and unfolded into a supergate. As Destiny approached, the gate activated. Destiny and 4 of the seed ships flew through the active suprgate.
As Cater looked out the window of the Hammond, the supergate activated. Destiny and the 4 seed ships came out of the supergate and stopped in front of the Hammond.
Destiny is Home.
After a few minutes of contacting the crew and verifying is was Young and his crew, Destiny and the seed ships started moving away and headed for Jupiter. As they approached the planet, an eye formed in the middle of the massive storm on the planet. Through the eye, a massive station became visable. It is revealed to be the original shipyard that built Destiny and the seed ships. Destiny and the seed ships would be repaired and upgraded and eventually would go back through the supergate to continue her mission.
This in an idea that a friend and I came up with that seemed at least plausible. I've always wanted the ship to be repaired, and the crew have a chance to get home. While I would have liked to write more and be more detailed, just have had time. Hope you like this idea.
