AN: A single chapter. The summer is coming to an end finally and offically the major components of the characters are fully set up. I have been inspired by my other writings so editing has taken a step back. I plan to finally post the new story sometime this week. Promised my fans on reddit so hoping to push that out. Let me know what you think of this.
August 17 ( Quidditch World Cup final )
Harry had been enjoying the days leading up to the World Cup final. It was a surprise to him where he was and who he was relaxing with. A slytherin and a French Veela, but two individuals that quickly had taken a place in being called friends. He knew he made friends easily, considering Ron and Hermione, but this had to be a new record in his opinion.
Harry also recognized the witches were trying as well not only to be friends with him but also each other. Daphne, for example, had stopped focusing on school work and just enjoyed the time. Fleur had taken to Daphne rather well and he swore they were scheming against him.
Fleur had been wearing summer dresses again and overall just being more confident. A different type of confidence. One seemingly fueled by being at his side.
Harry was not blind to the fact that she started to hook her arms around him every day and had taken to hugging him in the morning and at night. In turn, he was becoming a mess. His crush for her had reached new heights and he wondered how he was going to handle it.
Harry figured he could ask Sheda and he finally had built up his courage to do so. "Sheda." Sheda looked at him. They were in the tent alone since Fleur and Daphne had left to get breakfast from one of the vendors. "Do you think Fleur likes me?"
Sheda didn't show any emotion, but did slightly tease. "Why would you ask that hmmmm?" Sheda had overheard the girls talking, apparently they were trying to gauge Harry's interest and even trying to rework Fleur's confidence.
Although Sheda had been hard on the witch during Harry's coma it seemed it had at least done the girl some good to admit her feelings. The confidence issue seemed to have stemmed from the witch's own emotional turmoil being locked away with Harry musing in her own thoughts for over a month. Her perceived failures digging into her.
This was not to say Fleur still wasn't jealous or prideful. The witch clearly had a tendency to speak her mind especially when hooked on Harry's arm. It seemed selective now, but it was clear she had reevaluated a lot since they had met. Furthermore, she was slow to respond. Clearly making sure she thought of what she said before she responded. In many ways trying to be better and clearly succeeding.
Sheda did see points in which the witches tongue came out fully. During one night of the Cup the two witches had bumped into some heiresses that called Fleur names. Fleur defended herself and her tongue showed it itself then. Daphne did have to step in as Lady Greengrass to make the girls fully back off.
Harry had not been told by what Sheda could tell. She herself was making her way to the stadium when she saw it. The only problem was Sheda didn't know what or how much the witch would tackle such a relationship.
Sheda's previous worries had gone away. It was clear the Fleur cared for Harry and was a friend. She now worried that Harry would enter a non-serious relationship. The girl was older and maybe had a streak of using men? Of course that was coupled with the fact that Harry was younger, but it was more in relation to his inexperience. Harry would not see the signs and that could lead to be heartbroken rather easily.
The biggest worry was how it could affect him both in his current daily life and his future life. Harry was busy and he was only getting more busy. Yet, to take away his opportunity, to not only some normalcy, but also a potential relationship seemed extreme. The other side of the coin was that as Sheda began to take a more leadership role in Harry's circle a wayward idea had formed.
Sheda had the idea that Harry had to save himself for the most profitable alliance. Queenie had sent a letter to tell her about Harry meeting with Lord Pavlov during their New Year's Ball. A Lord that had a young daughter at Harry's age. Sheda let go of the idea as she saw Harry struggle and continue his point.
Harry looked at Sheda. His emotions slightly getting to him. "It's just an idea. I don't really know what to do with my emotions anymore."
Sheda walked up to Harry. She looked at him and saw how nervous he really was. He was not fully paying attention to her and fidgeting. It was clear he had built up his courage to ask her. It was then she realized that she was wrong to think of forcing Harry into such a position.
House Potter and even House Black had allowed marriage out of Love. Sheda couldn't force him to go against it. She knew Harry would listen to her and if she told him to hold back he would. Maybe he would grow resentful or maybe in time he would agree, but she couldn't do it. Not even her family did such a thing. She cursed HIS teachings for even allowing her to think that way.
Harry was just a teen that was clearly infatuated. He should be able to enjoy what time he had before life truly went away from him. Life would get more difficult, but Shedaremembered what she told Fleur. 'He would move mountains for you.' The idea of a marriage contract went away and a sense that she would support him in whatever he seeked. Overall, spupport Harry in case something goes wrong and help navigate the relationship.
Sheda realized what she should say. "Stop holding back. Be a Potter, be bold. What's so bad about it? If she doesn't like you. You respect her wishes. Maybe you will try later? James didn't stop with Lily for over 7 years. A tad obsessive but he stopped when he realized she wanted something different. Dorea made sure Charlus heard her wishes. Listen and act respectfully. It's clear Daphne is helping Fleur out. Fleur is acting very confident around you and I have a feeling you like confident women, no?"
Harry blushed. Not really questioning why it took Sheda so long to answer. His focus was on her comments. He did like confident women. He liked Fleur when she was super confident. After waking up from his coma, although Fleur was still beautiful, it seemed a major spark of her had died. He wasn't sure what it was until this leg of the vacation. He loved it when she was confident and commanded a room. If not with her beauty but also the way she spoke.
Harry couldn't agree more then. He would allow his emotions regarding her to go where they wanted. He would lean into their actions. He then heard some talking outside the tent as the front flap opened.
Break break break (alittle bit earlier)
Daphne and Fleur had agreed to go get breakfast and where currently in line waiting. "Fleur you're gonna have the title lady Potter in no time." Daphne giggled uncharacteristically next to her.
Fleur swatted at her in a joking way. "Stop it. Thank you though. It's been refreshing to let go, especially with a female. I never had many girlfriends and it's clear here even a lady is respected to a higher degree."
Daphne looked at the menu of the vendor. Images of the food flying around made her hate how wizards loved using moving pictures. A pancake didn't need to fly to show it was light. She just needed to know what toppings it had and it moving made it difficult.
Daphne responded once she knew what to order. "Sexism does exist but power is accepted more in magical Britain. Unsure of how it is abroad. Titles and magical power matter a lot here. Followed by political power and monetary power. Magical Power defines everything though. A magically powerful witch is respected more than a non- magically powerful wizard. Amelia bones is a good example. Although she has a title. A 2nd tier title but a title."
Daphne was slightly confused how to explain it further but continued on. "Same thing for me. I am not a main line Greengrass. I am 2nd in line to pass the titles on. I actually probably have more sway now since I have been seen with Lord Potter. His power, I would argue, is almost absolute in Magical Britain. Title, fame, political power and perceived magical power. Probably only Lord Malfoy could stand toe to toe, but most people don't know of the other title Harry has. With those two I think it's truly absolute as he gains monetary power."
Daphne sighed. To live in this world was different to having to explain it. "God I hate this information. I avoided it, but now I am at the center of it."
Fleur nodded and looked in thought. "Why do you hate it? And is that why Harry's mother was respected here in magical Britain even as a muggleborn. The title?"
Daphne kept staring ahead only just glancing at Fleur as she shook her head side to side with a sense of not really. "I hate it because I never wanted to deal with it. I was taught it but I always wanted to be left alone and live a life dedicated to my goal. Like I said. I want to explore my family's issues."
Fleur looked at Daphne on her point made once again. The witch clearly had an almost unhealthy obsession with whatever the family issue was. Not one day passed without her mentioning it. She listened as Daphne continued. "About Lady Lily Potter, partially no. She was a gifted witch and the title would come to help no doubt but I think it's her willingness to accept the general wizarding culture she was going into at an early age. Maybe out of respect? fear? Honestly, whichever one it was, I would give it to her for doing so. A lot of our ways are archaic from what I heard the muggle world is like and that doesn't include the pureblood dribble here in magical Britain. I don't know much about her but maybe you can ask Sheda?"
Daphne did find it surprising how little information existed on Harry's parents. Many people clearly had no interest to catalog anything of them since their deaths. "It's clear Lily did something different. She didn't date Harry's dad until 7th year and was only Lady Potter after her graduation. She was respected by many during her other school years. Whole smartest witch of her age and stuff like that. So maybe her magical ability is what gave her a leg up, but to such a degree? I would agree with your point. I never heard of any disrespect towards her. It's possible the mere idea of James Potter being attracted to her offered some sort of advantage. Even if she didn't realize it. Shows how powerful the name is and again how Magical Britain works" Daphne began to order as Fleur looked lost in thought.
So Lily played by the rules and used those same rules to her advantage it seemed. It also could be the possibility of the Potter title afforded her rights without even dating the man. Is that what she could expect? Maybe she would get respected with the title? Magical power also could be a way to further elevate her status while at his side.
Fleurs thoughts were pulled away as she heard Daphne's last name be called. Turning her head she saw a brunette come up to them and a red headed boy.
Fleur caught Daphne's face going back to the stoic look she had when she first met the witch. It was a far cry from the laid back girl she had gotten used to the past 2 weeks or so. It reminded her of the day she met the female heir of the Yaxley house and the Parkinson heir as well.
Flashback (8 day before the final)
Fleur realized she had run low on galleons and needed to go back to the tent, before the night really started. "Harry, Daphne, I need to go get some money from the tent. I will catch up."
Daphne walked back to her. "Go ahead Harry. We will catch up."
Harry was about to argue that he would spend money for Fleur as he pulled his bag out, but it was clear to Daphne this was an argument they already had. Daphne caught the side glare Fleur gave to Harry and he didn't even speak up. He just nodded and kept walking towards the stadium.
Daphne chuckled. "Fleur, it's gonna be your gold anyway, why not spend it now?"
Fleur shook her head at the girl's jokes. It seemed she loved teasing her on the possibility of becoming Lady Potter after she saw the looks Harry gave her in the Alley. They had gone to the Alley looking to get Arry new clothes before coming to the fields for the World Cup. He had outgrown his sizing charms and needed new clothes. Fleur was styling him and at one point looked to fix his hair because she needed to see how it would look with an outfit. Daphne had not let her live it down since then. Teasing her that she was styling HER lord both in looks and clothing. Apparently the way Harry looked at her the whole time was 'one for the books.' She responded. "Qui. Maybe it will be. Don't want to spend it all right now. Have to save some for the nicer Paris shops don't you think? "
Daphne snorted and both witch'slooked shocked at her snort and then started laughing. Daphne collected herself as they walked. "Ohhhh he doesn't know what is in store for him."
Fleur chuckled but then stopped when they almost bumped into two girls. An older one about her age with black hair and noble features. Pretty, but nothing that would see wizards chase her. The younger one, about Daphne's age, was also more of the same, brunette and a pretty face. Maybe with age she would be a tad more good looking. Both clearly British by their accent when they gasped and cursed about being bumped into.
The older one spoke up ignoring the other blond believing it to be another Veela. "It seems they allow any creatures into our country. I heard Veela were running around, I thought you were here to woo the men, not prance around the tents like the whores you are." Fleur was taken back by the language, but also the venom. The hate crime statistic truly coming back to the forefront of her mind.
Fleur caught herself and glared at the witch. "I don't think you have to worry. Whatever wizard is on your arm is not worth my time. If anything I pity him. Not much to look at it in the light" Fleur moved her eyes up and down the girl's body. Although slightly taller than her, both girls wore robes that showed their curves off. Fleur clearly had more to show. "And unfortunately it seems in the bedroom as well."
The older girl bristled and pulled her wand out. "You best respect your betters you half human harpy. I am Lady Sophia Yaxley, many families look to me as a possible candidate to beautify the arms of their male heirs as heiress of my House."
Fleur looked at her with questioning eyes. Yaxley's, a noble and most ancient House, was a political house. Known for their outright political influences around Europe. If you needed a campaign donor and had some unsavory beliefs the Yaxley's were the ones you looked too.
Lord Yaxley escaped imprisonment as a death eater. He argued he was forced into following the man and to use his political influence to spy on individuals and plan political maneuvers. "If you are what magical Britain sees as beautifying an arm then I pity the men who live here."
Sophia was about to cast when the younger girl stepped up. "You disgusting creature. How about you respect our culture and land? Whore-like behavior that no one would want. A far cry from what any proper Lord would want in Magical Britain. You would be lucky to marry a Weasley. Only Blood traitors would care to bed a wench like you."
Fleur was caught on a back step. Her new fear was laid bare and even though she tried to recover, she couldn't before Daphne stepped up.
"Pansy and Sophia. Rather rude and bold to talk out of step against a friend of Lord Potter especially when I am around." Both girls paled at her statement and then realized that it was Daphne Greengrass next to the Veela.
Daphne continued as she smiled sweetly. "Don't you think?"
Daphne stepped up looking into Sophia's eyes. "Sophia, I heard your House was denied a marriage contract for Draco earlier this year. Unfortunate that the heiress born to the political masterminds that is your family is not beautiful enough to grab the attention of Draco. It's almost laughable that a fully grown young witch lost to the final candidates." Sophia glared at Daphne but kept her mouth shut.
Pansy was surprised Sophia was considered. The girl had never mentioned it. Being 4 years older was not the problem, it was the fact that Yaxley's were at odds with the Malfoy's consistently. Each House stepped on the other's political plans and didn't like working together.
Pansy instantly got jealous and angry. She thought she had it in the bag earlier in the summer, but her father had return from the meeting and had been denied. Greengrass was in consideration and based on what she heard she figured it was the youngest.
Daphne turned to Pansy. "Pansy. I heard the same for you. Unfortunate that both of you lost to the Greengrass family. I feel you were a little too early in your pursuit of Draco. Especially in wanting to get into his pants. The poor boy, I heard he ran away. A little heavy handed don't you think? The hands traveled a little bit too much when snogging I suppose? It was his first time snogging based on what I heard."
Pansy got red, huffed and walked away. She knew better than to argue against Daphne. The witch had turned down Draco's advances multiple times while embarrassing him. Even after that infamous day of her snogging him and trying to pet him; he still tried hitting on Daphne. The girl was easily the best looking girl in the class and maybe the school and she didn't even care. "Fucking bitch" she whispered as Sophia followed behind her.
Fleur had stayed quiet. It was clear Daphne had shut them up with inter House politics. They continued their walk back to the tent. Fleur kept thinking about what the girl named Pansy had said. 'Only blood traitors would marry a Veela.'
Daphne spoke up after a bit. "You okay Fleur?"
Fleur was surprised by the sincerity in the question. She still had misgivings about Daphne. Although the jokes were funny she still had her guard up, but now? The girl had defended her. Maybe it was not bad to trust a little bit more? "Non. Not fully."
Daphne sighed and nodded. "What they said about you? The whole derogatory words?"
Fleur shook her head. "Non. More what she said about blood traitors. I suppose it's a way Houses are looked at in Magical Britain who fall out of line?"
Daphne looked away and understood the French witch would need to know about there culture if she planned to date Harry. "It's from a different time and from a book that was published during Grindelwald's rise I think. Before its publication a Nott family member made a list called the sacred 28 and began spouting the ideology for about 20 or so years. The most pureblooded Houses, the most magically strong etc. He hoped to create a political tier above the Most Noble and Ancient Houses for magical Britain. Some families bought into it and others didn't. It did become popular to a degree."
Daphne tried to remember what else she knew about it. Mainly in relation to the Potter's "The list didn't include the Potter's because of their outspoken ideals in the past. Harry's Great Grandfather, Hadrian Potter, political ideology of being in the middle for every issue also didn't help. Overall, if you went against the list's values you were called a blood traitor."
Daphne breathed in. Not only from hating the history but also its backward symbolism. "The Weasley's currently have that moniker because of their support of wanting to get involved in the muggle Great War. No house outright supported the idea, but Weasley's became the deciding vote for Magical Britain. No one hates a vote falling out of line and in the end the Weasley's got blamed for all of it."
Daphne tried to remember what her father told her about the final ideas. "Worse was when the war hero that emerged from the war wasn't even a member of the sacred 28, but a Scamander. The ideology of the sacred 28 fell to the wayside as a result."
Fleur was interested in the ideology. "So it's values were followed closely for a time?"
Daphne shook her head. "Sacred 28 members never fully followed the values themselves. The Malfoy's married half bloods and I think one Olivander even married a muggle. The rhetoric got absorbed into the greater pure blood movement so the term blood traitor stayed for anyone betraying that movement, but unfortunately Weasleys' history as being an example of it stayed as well."
Fleur nodded appreciating the cultural history. It was clear she would need to learn it to have a chance with Harry. "So it wouldn't be something all of Magical Britain would call Arry?"
Daphne smiled sadly and stopped walking. "Some people will if you date him. Some people will give him a lot of shite for it honestly. Overall, most would never say it to his face or anywhere near him. By the values of the list James should have been called one, but no one was foolish enough to do it."
Daphne looked across the field of tents and towards the stadium. Wondering who Harry would have been if his family was still alive. "Especially with the amount of power the Potter family had after the Global wizarding war. Don't focus on that Fleur. No jokes, but if you want to date him, just do it. I have no idea what a relationship even looks like or the feeling behind it, but don't worry about all this political dribble and House bullshit. Worry about the culture if you want, but honestly Harry spits at that as well. I say follow whatever you feel and stop worrying. It's what my mum told me anyway. It helped to accept him as a friend."
Fleur looked at Daphne and was surprised at the way the girl was willing to help her. Even giving her advice that her own family gave her. She realized she should give the witch a true chance at being a friend. "Qui. Can you help me then? I kind of want to know how much he likes me."
Daphne nodded and smirked. "You could make him into a puddle right now, but if you need reassurance we can work on it. How about hugging him more and just being on his arm? Also, be more confident and commanding. Look at him and see what I see. The boy is smitten when you do that." Fleur giggled and nodded as they continued chatting as they walked to their tent.
Both missed the red hair walking around the tents.
End of Flashback.
Fleur was brought back from her thoughts when she saw Daphne acknowledge her name.
Daphne turned her head at her last name being called. "Hi Greengrass. Did you come with Harry?"
Daphne looked at them. "I bought my own ticket."
Fleur noticed the deflection and realized that the red haired boy got charmed by her allure. His drooling being a tad unsightly.
Herminoe was unsure what to say about Ron drooling. She questioned him. "Ron what are you doing?"
Ron shook his head but clearly was struggling to regain his thoughts.
Herminoe then saw he was staring at the witch with silver glowing hair. Herminoe connected two and two together and realized what was happening. Ron was being pulled by an allure. "You're a Veela. Aren't you?"
Fleur looked at the witch and responded steely. "Yes. And?"
Hermione nodded, feeling jealous how easy the witch had charmed Ron. "Can't you control your allure? So he isn't like that."
Fleur crossed her arms. "I will do what I want, girl. It's not my fault he is weak willed"
Hermione bristled at that. "He is only 14 and a teenager."
Fleur turned her head away from Hermione. Daphne smirked next to Fleur. "Granger. Did you come over to attack my guest? Or did you have a real reason to talk and bring Weasley along?"
Fleur caught the names and kept looking down at the Granger. The girl didn't even have the decency to introduce herself. The boy was another issue entirely. He seemed to finally be able to hold himself together after some time. These were Harry's former/complicated friends. Harry had mentioned he wasn't sure what he felt about them.
Hermione looked at the Veela with cold eyes. She knew the veela was being condescending and acting superior to her. She internally argued with herself about biting back, but gave up and looked at Greengrass. "Yes, Greengrass. I wanted to know if you came with Harry. I know he was at the dueling championship." Ron grumbled.
Harry had told Fleur that Ron was known to be very vocal of his displeasure. She glared at the Weasley boy who was shocked at the display of anger for seemingly no reason. "Watch it little boy."
Hermione heard what she said and ignored the comment. "So you know Harry as well?" Fleur looked at Hermione and nodded.
Hermione sensed the girl was really getting annoyed and tried to placate. "Hermione Granger and this is Ron Weasley. Uhhhhh we know Harry."
Fleur nodded. "I know who you are but you lack the manners to introduce yourself before we talk. I am Fleur Delacour."
Hermione bristled at the manners issue and to her surprise Ron actually looked embarrassed. She didn't think further of the issue when she realized she read the last name in the Daily Prophet. "Your family is the one Harry stayed with isn't it? So he is here? Can we come meet him? We just want to make sure he is fine."
Daphne sighed. "You aren't going to leave us alone are you? Well. Come on. It's up to Harry if he wants to talk."
They made their way into the tent VIP section as Herminone pulled up to the girls with Ron lagging behind. "So have you two spent the summer with him?"
Daphne looked at the girl with a raised eyebrow. "Granger. A lot has happened between school and now. Personally I recommend you ask Harry. Deal?" Hermione looked unsure but sighed and nodded, falling back with Ron.
Fleur sniffled as if smelling something bad and whispered towards Daphne. "Are they always like this?"
Daphne shook her head and responded quietly. "No. They used to be very vocal. All three of them were considered a part of what made the golden trio whole. Granger was the smarts and bookworm. Weasley was the glue that grounded them. Harry was the wand and leader. It's how I thought about it anyway. Harry never spoke about it to me and to the degree he had a falling out with them. Granger did look to apologize at the end of the year. They must feel guilty or without the leader; aimless. "
Fleur nodded and whispered back. "Same here. He never talked about what happened. Just a feeling that he missed negative traits, neglected other friendships and that you were the only one he considered a 'stable' friend."
Daphne nodded and smiled. "You too now, Lady Potter." Fleur once again blushed slightly and swatted at her.
Hermione couldn't hear what was said, but quickly realized she yearned to have a girlfriend to just chit chat with like the two witches did. Maybe they could all work together? Yet,it was clear the golden trio was over and what came after was a mystery.
A part of Hermione was disappointed on how they had let such pity issues come to the forefront. But were they pity? In some ways she argued they weren't. Especially when she looked at the backdrop of everything.
A high stress situation for all three in the Sirius rescue, coupled with hormones, and exposure to the 'real worlds' injustice. Hermione felt she shouldn't have been so hard on how they reacted to some things.
They were growing up and clearly Ron and herself had begun to feel the burden of the emotions. Had Harry as well?
Break break break
Harry saw Daphne walk in first. A frustrated look adorned her face "Harry. There are some people outside for you. Sorry, but it seems they would not leave us alone so I brought them. I guess they figured I would come."
Harry sighed and nodded as he got up. The Weasleys should have arrived that morning since they had tickets for the final. "The two of them I suppose."
Daphne nodded as she followed Fleur to sit down.
Harry fixed his robe and left the tent as the sun hit his face. The glare going away from his eyes he saw Herminoe and Ron.
Ron was surprisingly shorter than Harry now, but not by much. Ron would probably keep on growing so he may end up at the same height, but knowing the Weasleys, probably taller than Harry. Herminoe had grown slightly as well resting at the same height as Ron around a comfortable 5 '8, probably to end there.
Herminoe stayed still clearly holding in nervous energy. "You had a growth spurt."
Harry smiled. "Yup. 5'11 now. Still going since my knees hurt a lot ."
Herminoe noticed Harry was not wearing glasses and took in the rest of his appearance. The very expensive clothes he wore were also very apparent. Something she noticed Ron had observed also. "New wardrobe?"
Harry looked down and nodded. "Fleur, Daphne and Bathsheda have helped in that regard on this trip. Had to get some new stuff. Grew too fast for the charms on my old clothes." Hermione looked confused at the name Bathsheda.
Harry realized a lot had happened since he last saw the two of them. "You guys want to go on a walk?" Herminoe nodded and Ron did as well.
Break break break.
They had been walking for about 10min in silence between the thousands of tents. A lot of the DMLE were out in force and some ICW agents as well. Agents Harry knew were keeping an eye on him, but he now agreed with Sheda that they only followed him because of the suspicion of Queenie. Mainly the interaction that occurred when he passed out and she stepped in. No sign of Queenie in over 3 weeks and they had backed off just slightly.
Regarding them being present at the World Cup it had been a surprise to everyone. It appeared that some strong arming from Amelia Bones had allowed the ICW into the Quidditch World Cup for extra security following the attack at Numengard. Harry's musing ended when he realized they had just been walking around silently.
"So are you guys gonna talk? Or are we gonna enjoy a nice stroll? My breakfast is getting cold."
Herminoe opened her mouth and closed it.
Ron was the one that spoke up. "How are you? I read you were recovering. I figured it meant you got injured."
Harry was surprised that Ron had asked, but ran with it. "I am fine, thanks for asking Ron. I got attacked by a Lethifold. I killed it with a knife and I was bedridden for a month from magical exhaustion after I enchanted the valley."
Ron nodded in thought. "Always impressive with your spells. I am guessing you didn't do the initial enchantment or is that some new talent of yours also?"
Harry chuckled. "Nope. That would have been Fleur who did the initial enchantment. I fueled the crystal with a spell."
Herminoe grabbed that hoping to know about the crystal she saw in the paper. "Fuel the crystal? A form of Enchantment right?"
Ron nodded, stopping and looking at them both. He anxiously began to explain what Bill talked about. "Fleur must be great at it. My brother Bill could do some simple things but never to that degree. I saw the picture of it. It is a massive crystal. My brother said it must have taken you precise control of magic layering, magic control and manipulation of the initial steps to do the enchantment. The crystal is so stable he argues. Mainly because any other crystal would have broken under stress. I laughed at him telling him that Harry had no sense of control. He would be a dragon in a tea shop."
To Ron's surprise both Herminoe and Harry laughed. Ron's ears turned red but he began to laugh also. After a while Harry looked at Ron and Ron looked at him. "I am sorry Mate. I was worried and it hurt knowing you got injured with possibly no one around you."
Ron looked down and pulled in his courage. "I have been having some tough times in my head. I talked to my older brothers and well—"
Ron somehow got even more red but he pushed through the embarrassment. "Growing up and just being in so many people's shadows; I am aimless right now. I have some jealousy issues on a lot of things and it gets to my head easily. I even had a hard time just earlier when I met Fleur and Daphne. I got jealous."
Ron began to stutter realizing he had to clarify. "Not because both are….uhhhh. attractive witches. I got jealous at being left out as a friend. I know it's my fault, but I'm trying to stop it. "
Herminoe was surprised Ron had admitted the attractiveness of the girls in a respectful way. She was also surprised at what he had decided to tell Harry.
When Ron asked her to come Herminoe hesitanted, but agreed at least for the few days. He asked for her forgiveness that day in what he did and how he acted. He admitted it was not right and that he had let his jealousy of both of them going on an adventure without him get the best of him.
Ron felt that he once again had been unable to do more for Harry; especially after he saved his sister the year before. He also admitted he had feelings for Herminoe, but had come to realize he had maybe ruined any chance. Making that peace, he had moved on he told her.
Although Hermione suspected he hadn't. She had accepted his apology. A part of her touched that he had been able to talk to her in such a way. Regarding Harry he had become tight lipped. The only thing he stated about him was that he promised to talk to him.
Harry meanwhile was surprised by Ron's statement and sincerity. "I appreciate the sentiment. You have always been there and willing to do anything with me. I may not fully agree on how you handled it, but I am glad you are realizing it now. I will say I won't let bygones be bygones. You did hurt me with your last comment when we argued. I am having issues with my magic currently and have been having issues since we saved Sirius. I was scared, I felt alone, and worst of all I felt you two were digging at me."
Hermione looked concerned. "Magic issues? Like being uncontrollable?"
Harry nodded as they continued walking. "I did uncontrolled wandless magic in the Great hall, many spells."
Hermione was about to congratulate Harry that he had a new ability he just needed to focus when Ron stopped her and semi pushed her away.
Ron's face turned deathly pale. "Uncontrollable wandless magic with many spells? Not accidental? Harry. Have you gotten help?"
Harry caught his action and sighed. He wouldn't hold it against him, but Sheda had been right. People would have panicked. Everyone around him at least when it first started. "I am not an obscurial Ron. Thankfully. It's you know who."
Herminoe also panicked now realizing why Ron stopped her. She hadn't connected the dots, but how did Ron know? "Ron, how do you know about obscurials? They aren't a topic handled in magical beasts until this coming year."
Ron's ears turned red at knowing something Herminoe didnt. "Ummmm. I kinda don't; like in the school sense. We were taught as kids about them. If we acted bad or got angry at our parents we were told it could happen to us. Obscural's have uncontrollable wandless magic who cast a lot of spells when young. I think there is a difference between that and accidental magic. If I remember correctly they crack the ground around them as they get older and other mental things can happen."
Herminoe nodded and she realized that it was a child's boogeyman story. "It's a fear in Magical Britain. A boogeyman story. It's why you didn't tell us."
Ron stopped, realizing that he just reinforced what had happened. "Harry I—"
Harry stopped both of them. "I don't hold it against both of you. Sheda told me not to tell anyone and in a moment of desperation and honest acknowledgment of everything that had happened to me. I trusted her and I still trust her."
Hermione looked confused again and was about to speak up. Harry cut her off. "Professor Babbling Herminoe. Her name is Bathsheda Babbling. I have been under her wing since that day you came into the rune class and found me." Harry stopped and sat down on some bench.
The other two sat with him. "I had gone through a lot that day. This robe is a symbol of that also. It's made to regulate and control my magic. It's made from the skin in the chamber and has about 13 powerful runes on it now."
Herminoe was surprised and Ron groaned as he stood up. "Now I feel more like a prat."
Harry chuckled and Herminoe tried to grab onto that idea. "So it was all a misunderstanding? We can go-"
Harry had raised his hand. "Herminoe. Like I told Ron just earlier and you before summer started. I can't let bygones be bygones. A lot has changed this summer. The enchantment of the valley and my magic are not the only things that have happened." Harry stood up.
Seeing Herminoe have some tears in her eyes and to his surprise Ron looked calm as if understanding. "I was also hurt by both of you and felt abandoned. And right now, I just want to enjoy the end of summer. So how about we get back together at school and we see where it goes? I know I told you the same thing Herminoe before we left Hogwarts."
Herminoe smiled sadly and wiped away a stray tear as she nodded and stood up. "Okay Harry. Hogwarts. Ron?"
Ron looked at Harry with half a smile. "Hogwarts it is. Enjoy the rest of your summer Harry. I am happy you're okay, I really am." Harry smiled.
Harry didn't know where this would end up, but a part of him was content with whatever happened. Maybe they wouldn't be able to talk to each other more than what they just did or maybe they would go back to normal. Who knew.
Harry made his way back to his tent where he found Daphne and Fleur chit chatting and laughing. Sheda sat reading a letter. He thought of Sirius and everyone else. He would be okay with whatever happened. He had some people in his corner at least.
Break break break.
The rest of the day was pretty relaxing as they all just lounged around waiting for the final game to start, Bulgaria vs Ireland. Sheda had been excited to finally use her Green robes. She did interchange her outfits often between her all black robes, the light purple, the red ones, and the dark purple ones. The dark purple ones seemed to be her favorite, using it often. Harry noticed that it matched her book and figured it was her favorite color.
As they made it to their VIP box they came across Ron and Herminoe who nodded towards him. Harry nodded back and continued up. The minister of magic was in the box next to there as the Malfoys looked to sit down. Curiously only two of them.
Draco, catching Daphne with Harry, sneered and screamed across. "Greengrass, why did you soil yourself with the likes of him? He is not even worth-".
Draco was smacked by his father who kept walking not looking at Potter. "Draco, keep moving." Harry chuckled at the interaction along with Daphne.
Lucius had heard the Potter boy was learning proper etiquette. Having the smarter Greengrass by his side was also also a problem because she would further teach him the proper standings.
Lucius was frustrated that he couldn't get a contract for the girl, but the girl's mother had knocked it down. He settled for the youngest cousin. If she even came out half as smart as the older Greengrass she would be a boon for the Malfoy line.
They all reached their seats and they sat down, Daphne to Harry's left and Fleur to his right and began to watch the game.
Break break break
Harry could see the game was going as expected. The Irish would score often and Bulgaria would be relying on their seeker Krum. Fleur did get a tad angry at seeing the Veela lose their control during half time. He heard her whisper that they were weak willed witches when they lost control of their avian form due to some leprechaun insult.
Fleur had been focusing her Allure on him the whole trip. No one had been none the wiser or so he thought. Yet, he wondered if what he was feeling for Fleur is what others experienced. In some ways he found it difficult to not look at her anymore.
Harry was beginning to daydream being with Fleur when he saw Lucius was leaving with Draco from the corner of his eye. He wondered why the Malfoys were leaving so early and by the looks clearly frustrated.
Harry decided to ignore them and looked up. Just as he did he saw the golden shine of the snitch. Keeping track of it for a while, it flew around the stadium. He leaned into Fleur and whispered in her ear, startling her. "I probably would have gotten it already. I have been looking at it for a good ten min."
Fleur was surprised Harry saw the snitch. He then grabbed her left hand and traced it as it flew around the stadium. The snitch's golden spark made Fleur lose her breath every moment it shined.
Fleur was surprised by his boldness and confidence in his ability. She looked at Harry again and stared at his smile and eyes. The green in his eyes swirled ever since he woke up from his coma in her opinion Almost as if the magic in them was so potent that it had pooled into his eyes. At that moment she realized she had fallen for Harry Potter. It was no longer a crush and she feared what it would mean. Yet, a part of her desperately yearned to look at those eyes as more than a friend.
Harry realized in his distraction and confidence of his seekers abilities that he had grabbed Fleur's hand and had been holding it for over 10min. His joy that she shared his interest made him look at her. He then realized she hadn't been looking at the snitch or following his gaze. She had been looking at him and staring at him.
Harry looked into her blue eyes. He had fallen for her. He couldn't look at those eyes the same way. He smiled. Fleur slightly blushed, but smiled at him as well. He was then going to tease her when everyone got up and screamed in joyous cheers. Harry stood up with her as it seemed that Krum had finally seen the snitch and was now chasing it.
Daphne smirked next to Harry as she stayed seated, catching the interaction between the two. "Good job lover boy." she whispered as she looked up at the stars. She was happy and content. The most she had ever been. The 10 days were great, two friends and just good times. Nothing she ever prepared for but maybe they could hel-.
Daphne stopped her train of though in horror. She felt it and she doubled over. Pain and then a flare of her magic.
Fleur caught the flare as everyone cheered that Bulgaria had won. She tried to locate the source thinking it was Harry when she then looked at Daphne and gasped. Daphne's hair was glowing with the influence of an Allure.
Just as suddenly it happened, it was gone as Daphne gasped for air and grabbed her chest in panic.
