Nearly 10 years have passed since the last bit of magic had disappeared from this land, the people who live here have had plenty of time to adjust to a change as big as this, although that doesn't mean they don't miss it. Magic shops still exist here, though they are treated more like antique stores more than anything. Magic power may have ceased to exist entirely but the same does not apply to magic tools. The only difference is the tools and trinkets don't serve much of a purpose anymore. Although not useful in any way, this doesn't deter people from buying them, be it for decoration or nostalgia reasons. This also applies to a certain member of a certain guild here in this land, and thankfully for her, she has known this shopkeeper for long enough to get herself a pretty steep discount on anything she wants. Helping out with saving the lives of a couple thousand people all those years ago certainly goes a long way too.

"So how much for this?" She asked the old man standing behind his counter. As she placed the item down, a little girl standing beside her stood up on the very tips of her toes giving her just enough height to keep her eyes on the item in question. She couldn't seem to look away from the shiny object encased in it's box sitting on a bed of red soft velvet, it's as if she had never seen something so beautiful before.

"For this?" He stopped to think for a second, not wanting to give too cheap of a price, it's hard to keep a magic shop up and running in a world without magic after all. "How about a good even 50,000 jewel?" He knew her well enough from over the years that he figured she would probably bargain him down regardless of whatever price he gave, so the old man knew he was likely not going to get the 50,000 jewel.

"You're insane." She deadpanned. She said it in such a matter of fact way that he almost fell to the floor.

"I've got a business to run, it's not so easy to make money selling tools that don't work" He hoped that this might convince her to give even a little bit of sympathy, in the form of jewel of course.

"You've been giving me that line for 7 years now, it's not gonna work old man" Her arms crossed clearly not impressed with his excuse. "If it was really that hard you would have closed shop years ago."

"Well times have been especially tough recently, I might just have to if you keep negotiating my items to half price every single time you come in." It's the same script every time she stops by, she knows he'll budge.

"I wouldn't have to knock them down to half price if you just gave me a reasonable one to begin with." It may be the same conversation every time but that doesn't mean she isn't tired of it. "I mean come on, 50,000 jewel for a single little key that can't do anything? I'll even let you keep the box it's in if you give it to me for 20,000 jewel." As she finished talking she began taking the key out of it's bed of velvet.

"The key is made of real gold, magic or not, the gold is worth a heavy price. I'm already giving you a good deal for that. I won't budge this time" They both knew that wasn't true.

"Fine. But you're crazy if you think you're getting 50,000 jewel. 30,000 final offer." She was getting annoyed.

"45,000"

"31,000"

"40,000"

"32,000

"Fine." He sighed, he had seen this coming, but that doesn't make it less disappointing how easily he gets haggled. The little girl giggling at him for caving in doesn't help his ego either.

Reaching into her pocket to grab money so she can pay the man, she takes it out to count.

"Hmm… Seems like I've only got 30,000 on me" She goes to hand it over to the old man who just stands there with his hand out in utter defeat.

"Just take it." He says weakly and lets out a sigh, waving his hand for her to leave.

So she does just that while trying to hide her smirk. She grabs the key and puts it back in the box before handing it to the little girl beside her who seems so excited she just can't keep still.

"Thank you so much mama!" She is so excited she can barely keep in her giggles, her smile so wide, shes beaming.

As they get outside the shop the older of the two looks down and asks the younger girl a question as they start walking.

"So who wants to get milkshakes?" She knew the answer to the question before she even asked it.

"Me!" This day could not possibly get any better for this little girl. "But I thought you only had the money you gave the old man inside?" The smaller one tilted her head with confusion. How would they get milkshakes if they had no more money? The taller one smirked before reaching into her other pocket that she hadn't even touched when she was 'looking' for her money earlier. She then pulled out a small wallet full of cash.

"Don't worry, we have enough for a couple milkshakes and maybe even a few treats from the sweets shop next door. What do you think?" The little girl was wrong, this day could get better. Without wanting to waste another second the smaller girl started running towards the shop that stood about a block away. The older woman stopped to chuckle at the girls antics before picking up the pace to catch up before she got too far.
