Chapter 4/ Rules /Andrea's POV

The Governor moved people in and brought in a ton of supplies. My sister and Shane helped immediately. I somehow had doubts and didn't rush to help him.

I helped plant seeds in the garden, brought some new books into the library, and agreed to help teach at the school. The Governor got his own apartment but visited mine often. More often than I desired.

Avery grew to love him, and I knew that before long, he would want our daughter to live with him.

He is taking a walk with Avery now. Thirty minutes later, they arrived back at my apartment.

"Who has been watching the gate?" I asked once he came in. I like to keep him focused on running the town, supply runs, and biter defense. Anything to avoid his obvious romantic advances.

"Merle and Martinez are taking turns watching the wall. Of course, Shane will help too. He has proved himself very valuable to our team. I'd make him my second if it wasn't for Martinez," the Governor says, sitting down on the sofa beside me.

Avery comes and sits in the Governor's lap. I watch as she falls asleep in his arms.

"Shane is very strong," I agreed.

"Both Martinez and Shane adore your sister. Martinez wants to move her into his apartment. I told him I haven't decided yet," the Governor says, smiling evilly.

"Decided what?" I said, my stomach feeling sick.

"Who should Amy belong to? Clearly, she should have a husband. You should too. I think I'll make it a rule in Woodbury that every woman over the age of nineteen must be married," he says.

"Who will decide who marries who?" I asked, amazed at his backwards thinking. I mean, not every woman wants to be married.

"I will decide. Of course, there is someone else interested in Amy too," he says, getting up to put Avery to bed.

"Who?"

"Me. I mean, if you won't be my wife, I might have to marry Amy. She's very pretty," he says, waiting for my response.

He is threatening me. He is trying to break my spirit. What choice did I have? He knew my sister is weakness.

"Would you like to stay all night?" I said, a few tears coming to my face.

He wipes my tears with the back of his hand.

"Would you like me to stay all night?" he asks, almost tauntingly.

"Yes," I whisper.

"We can take things nice and slow," he said touching my shoulders. He hands go from my shoulders all the way down to my legs.

More tears start coming to my eyes and covering my face. He hands me a tissue, and wipes my face again.

"Stop crying. You should be happy. It wasn't so bad the last time," he reminds me.

I managed to stop crying, trying to think what I could do to avoid his unwanted sexual advances.

"Should we have dinner first?" I said, getting up and walking into the kitchen.

"Are you hungry?" he asks, following me.

"Starving. Now that you have the generators working, cooking should be easier," I suggested.

"Are you want me to cook?" he asked, looking a little frustrated.

"Those chocolate chip pancakes you made for Avery were delicious yesterday. I could relax more if you could make a few of them," I said, looking into his blue eyes.

I wrap my arms around him and kiss his lips. He told me to act interested, so I am trying. I pull away after about ten minutes.

"First pancakes, then intimate time. At least they only take ten minutes to make," The Governor says, knowing I am stalling.

"Thank you," I said, watching him make the pancakes. I decided to eat them extremely slowly.
