Chapter 11
Eddy found herself standing by a small waterfall with a pool of water gathered at the base. She knew she was inside but room looked very much like a scene in nature. She asked. "Where am I?"
"You are in the reflecting room." she stated. Lya then led her to the edge of the water. "This will help stabilize your blood sugar issue which in turn will allow you to access your full potential."
"Um." she pondered. "The Asgard wanted me dead since they think I could be dangerous. If I open up to my full potential, could that make me dangerous?"
"Your actions are for you to decide." Lya told her. "Your full potential can be good or bad. It's up to you."
"Well," she sighed hesitantly. "What do I do?"
"Go into the pool. Submerge yourself." she instructed.
Eddy went to the pool. She knelt beside it. She just wasn't comfortable with the idea. She reached out with her finger and touched the water to test it. She felt a surge of energy run up her arm and through her whole body. She pulled back. "That's enough of that." she declared. She quickly rose to her feet and back away.
Lya stated. "The pool is ready when you are."
"Yeah," she agreed. "Maybe later." She found a large rock to sit on nearby. She say down for a moment.
Lya took a seat beside her.
"Can I ask you a question?" Eddy wondered.
"Of course." she nodded.
"If you guys can heal and resurrect the dead and all. Why haven't you guys helped the Asgard with the cloning issue?" she wondered.
"The Asgard have not asked." she stated. "The cloned bodies are beyond healing. The Asgard's downfall is they rely too much on technology and ignored the world of which they lived in. They are very powerful and intelligent but also made many mistakes which cost them dearly."
"So, you guys won't help them." she figured. She then asked. "What about these Furlings? What happened to them?"
"They still exist." Lya stated. "They tried to isolate themselves from a virus that ran rampant in the galaxy. It was not a natural virus. It was created and released. They are trapped in an alternate realm of space. They cannot get themselves out."
"Can you guys get them out?" she wondered.
"It would take more power than we can muster." she regrettably told her. "More power than what the Asgard can muster. The Ancients could muster that much power. But they made the very virus that they succumbed to."
Eddy stated. "They told me I have the Ancient gene and got it from my mother."
"Yes." she nodded.
"So, they were humans too and were on Earth screwing around with the native population ten thousand of years ago." she assessed.
"True." she nodded.
She pondered. "Did they have a thing for cavemen or something?"
Lya had to laugh. "Your humor is very much from your…human…side. Trust that side. Humans have great power but they are too immature to realize it."
"Great power?" she puckered in thought. "You mean that psychic stuff?"
"They have a sixth sense that is further developed than their minds." she explained.
"Ghost and shit?" she asked.
Lya warned. "There are many layers of realms to every reality layered in the universe. You will find many different energy based beings in those realms. Some are pleasant, some are not."
"I think I came across a few." she winced.
"You are welcome at the reflecting pool at any time. You have the ability to come her yourself. It is always open to you." Lya assured. "Are you ready to go back to friends?"
She found the reflecting pool room was very peaceful and relaxing. She sucked in the atmosphere once more time and then gave a nod. "I'm ready to go."
SGC
Jack lead his team with the firefighters and Eddy back to base. General Hammond waited at the base of the ramp.
"How did it go?" The General asked his Colonel.
"Apparently, Eddy is legend." Jack told him.
Daniel injected. "The Nox have an eons old myth of about a being, who is the child of five great races, bringing peace to the galaxy. They think Eddy is the incarnation of the being."
Hammond looked at Eddy. He wasn't sure what to say. "Edna."
She shrugged. "I have no idea if that is true or a bunch of bull. The Nox are a bunch of hippies. Who knows! Maybe some of those mushrooms they like to eat are psychedelic?"
Sam's eye grew wide as she heard Eddy suggest the Nox consumed drugs.
Daniel found the suggestion rather amusing. "Well, if they do eat such mushrooms, I'm sure they would be aware of such properties."
Jack smiled amused. "I always thought they were hippies."
Hammond stated. "I want a full debriefing in a half hour, Colonel."
"Yes sir." Jack agreed.
Short Time Later
Upon securing weapons and gear, SG-1 along with the firefighters gathered at the table in the briefing room.
Sam stated. "Lya did take Eddy away from us. We don't know where they went for that time."
Eddy explained. "I was in one of the invisible cities that were floating above us. I was only allowed in one room. It was called the 'reflecting room'. It looked like a park with a water fall and a small pool at the base of it."
Jack asked. "What happened?"
She shrugged. "We sat and talked on this big boulder. She told me the Furlings are still alive but they are trapped in a space between realities. Honestly, I have no clue what she was talking about. It's all over my head."
Sam stated. "Finding the Furling would be a huge step forward. Did she give the frequency?"
She shook her head. "No! She said there layers of realities and space in between that had energy based things."
Daniel miffed. "They really should have taken one of us with you, Eddy."
She shrugged. "I don't know."
"Maybe you do." he suggested. "Maybe it's in your subconscious mind." He looked to Sam for her opinion.
"Hypnosis?" she pondered.
He nodded. "Worth a shot."
"You mean put me in a trance and see what I say?" she asked.
"Yes." Daniel gave a nod.
"Oh." she seemed to not be very thrilled with the idea.
Harold soothed. "Hey! It's worth a shot, kid. Maybe you can get the lotto numbers."
She rolled her eyes.
Jack stated. "Wouldn't hurt." He looked to Hammond, "I was thinking of maybe having Chester and Harold tag along on a few missions."
"Colonel?" Hammond asked surprised.
"So they get a feel of what we do." he suggested.
Chief Morris stated. "I think the fire department should have a team here."
Sam rolled her eyes and puffed her cheeks annoyed. She really saw no reason for a team of fireman from the city. She blurted out. "Heck, let's just make an exchange program where S.G. personal go ride the ambulance and drive the fire trucks."
"Major." Hammond stated sternly. He was not happy with the attitude.
"Sorry sir." she backed down.
Daniel pondered. "Actually, that's not a bad idea."
"Dr. Jackson?" Hammond asked surprised.
"Not so much an exchange program but more for Eddy. She still has two weeks before she can start here and then she needs to go through training. The Nox believe she is very powerful and is the Star Child. Thor told us the Asgard would order her to be destroyed. I think at least one of us should stick around her for protection."
Hammond stated. "I cannot pull off all of SG-1 to play bodyguard."
Sam volunteered. "I can do it! I can ride with Eddy in the ambulance for the remainder of her time."
The Chief stated. "I'm not letting Eddy go that easily. She can still work part time or volunteer in her free time. She is still my paramedic." He then declared. "You guys can't just do whatever you want. She maybe half alien but she's still human and one of my men."
Daniel reminded him. "She not a man."
"You know what I mean, Dr. Jackson." he rebutted.
Hammond looked to Eddy. "Do you wish to stay with the department part time?"
"I can go down to volunteer status. I promised to do the Explorer's Program and I want to least keep that promise." she stated. "Sam can ride with me in the rig the next two weeks."
Sam smiled. "I get to be a paramedic."
"No, just a second set of hands." Eddy told her.
She asked. "Can I drive the ambulance then?"
Harold agreed. "I'll give you a crash course. It's an automatic. Any idiot can drive it. Even Daniel." he jested.
Jack looked rather surprised as Harold took a jab at Daniel.
"Thanks." he huffed. "I think I will drive it. You can fill for me on SG-1, Harold." he challenge. "Just try to keep Jack from shooting everything in sight."
Chief Morris stated. "My assistant chief can take over and I can go with Jack's team too."
Teal'c sat rather solemn for he preferred the team the way it was.
Jack looked forward to having the two fireman on his team. He agreed. "Carter and Daniel can go with Winchester and play paramedic and I get Chief Morris and Harold."
Sam was peeved at the way Jack was willing to just replace her and Daniel. "That's sounds good to me, sir." she sternly stated.
Daniel knew Edna was not telling them everything that happened. He wanted to stay close to keep an eye out for her. He too agreed. "I think me and Sam should stay with Eddy for the time being."
