"Are you serious?" He was shocked, confused but elated at the same time. "Yeah I mean it's not romantic at all and it's not Paris like I planned but knowing that we both love each other for who we are just made this seem like the right moment. I know it's probably not how you wanted this to happen but I just feels right." Kim looked nervous but the love shone in her eyes. "Wait Paris? Did you talk to Kevin or Jay today?" Adam was really confused. "No why? I don't get it. Are you trying to tell me no?" Kim was scared sitting up covering her body. "No I'm not saying no! I just told them today that I wanted to propose to you in Paris. You just caught me off guard. I promise." Adam rushed to explain how he felt. "I didn't even get your ring yet I had this plan to get a very masculine ring, tungsten and carbonate. I had it all work out in my head but this just seems so much better. So Adam Ruzek, will you be my husband?" Kim was beaming with love realizing they were planning the same thing. "Abso-freaking-loutly! God I can't wait I love you so much!" He pulled her in to the most searing kiss. "I love you too! So incredibly much!" Kim kissed him back harder than before.
"We're getting married!" Kim yelled as she pulled back from Adam. "Yeah we are!" He could help but laugh excitedly. This was not how he saw the night going but he was thrilled. "So you thought about asking me in Paris? So crazy how we both thought the same thing. I guess it just proves this is meant to be." She was sitting on him once again. "Yeah Paris sounded like a romantic option. In our room with the Effie Tower behind us. Flowers, Champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, dancing in the moonlight. I wanted everything to be perfect but you were right, right here just the two of speaking from our hearts was perfect." His fingers running up and down her thighs as he spoke. "Wow okay so that was my idea as well. I was sure it was right till tonight. Hearing how much you love me, money or not just this tonight the perfect moment. I know it's quick but I just know it's right. Now I know we have some champagne and I know we have strawberries so how about we drink a little before we celebrate again?" Kim wiggled her eye brows hoping he caught her drift.
"Sounds amazing! We are gonna need the extra energy boost if we plan on going for round 4 and maybe 5." They both laughed as they got up throwing on minimal clothes as they headed to the kitchen. Adam opened the champagne bottle while Kim grabbed the glasses and strawberries. Kim was beaming with happiness as Adam poured the bubbly. "To us! To a life full of love, happiness, success, family and lots of hot, mind blowing sex!" Adam toasted as Kim laughed but cheered just the same. "To us! To a life filled with new experiences, amazing memories, lots of laughter, health and all of our dreams coming true." Kim toasted before grabbing her phone to take a photo of the two together. "Should we send a picture to your team letting them know?" Kim questioned as she ate a strawberry. "We can. Or do you want to wait till we have rings?" Adam didn't care either way, he was just happy knowing they were committed to each other.
"Either way works. I don't want to rush with buying something. I think yours will be easier to find something than mine so I'm fine with not waiting. I don't want to hide this, I want the world to know. So that's my thought on the subject." Really she was happy either way but she wanted people to know they were happy, in love and together forever. "I'm fine with that too. I don't need the ring to know we are together forever but I do want people to know. So let's take a photo with a caption we're engaged and send it out to the closest people." Adam finished his glass before getting a shirt to take a picture in. He didn't care if his team saw his bare chest but he dressed some out of respect for the masses who would see the photo.
They took several photos. Some feeding each other berries, some drinking champagne and some kissing each other. The last photo was the two faces next to each other, arms wrapped around the other, smiles bright and wide. The photo was attached to a group chat with his team with the caption we're getting married. After it was sent the couple went back to drinking and feeding each other. It was fun, sweet and loving. It was them. They ignored their phones dinging with notifications, they could wait till later. "I think it's time to take this celebration to the bedroom. I want to make love to my stunningly gorgeous fiancé." Adam took her hand and led her to the bedroom. "I like the sound of the that!" Kim smirked as she followed behind him.
Kim took Adams shirt off before removing his boxers. Once he was undressed once again he slowly removed the shirt Kim was wearing. It was his of course but he never minded. He actually loved seeing her wearing his shirts and nothing else. It made him incredibly happy. She led him slowly to their bed before she laid down moving to get comfortable before he climb above her. He took his time kissing every inch of her body savoring this time together. Celebrating their pending marriage. After kissing every inch Adam returned to her favorite parts to pay them extra attention. He noticed Kim squirming and arching her back. He gently pushed her back down not wanting her to get hurt. "I got you darling." He whispered taking her nipple in his mouth while his hand massaged her other breast. He also knew it was driving her crazy but he wasn't ready to give in just yet. He switched breasts first making sure they both got the same attention.
"I want to watch the pleasure come over your face this time." Adam whispered as he lined himself sinking himself inside her. Her walls were tight and he knew why, she was holding back. "Darling. Let it go. I want to feel you tremble around me." She didn't need to hear anything else as she came around him. Shuddering and spasming around him. He watched as her eyes clenched shut further, her head thrown back, her neck looked longer and inviting. Her breasts bouncing, her hands clenched in the sheets. Her whole body flushed red with sweat glistening all over. It was a beautiful sight. One he would never get sick of. Her body finally relaxed around him again however her breathing still ragged. But he couldn't wait any longer.
He started to move in and out of her slowly. Almost torturously slow. Dragging out every moan and whimper he could. His eyes never left her face. He loved she the blissful smiles come across her face, he loved seeing her mouth form an o when she was moaning. He loved everything about her. He saw her arms moving towards him, grabbing on to his shoulders. Her finger nails digging in slightly. Adam hissed slightly but he didn't speed up. He couldn't and wouldn't. He wanted it to last forever. "God baby! This is amazing! I'm so close again though. Please don't stop." Kim begged loving this feeling but knew it wouldn't take long for her high to be reached. "Never darling. I got you." Adam wrapped her leg around his hip opening her wide to him. This angle allowed for a deeper penetration but also to hit her g-stop.
Making sure to hit that exact spot each time he thrusted had her screaming his name. It sounds heavenly to Adam. It was his favorite sound at this point. Nothing made him feel more alive and more in love than hearing her say his name that way. As he started to feel the twitching of his balls he knew the damn was about to burst. He lifted her hip slightly getting a better angle yet again just before Kim came again. It was loud but she had never been more beautiful in his eyes. Just as his own orgasm came crashing over him he allowed his eyes to close and his head to be thrown back as he groaned louder than he thought possible. It was almost animalistic. But it only served to prove just how amazing it had been.
He dropped slightly, his arms tired, his legs shaky. He rested his head in between her breasts. Kim felt his ragged breathing in his skin as he came down from his high. Her fingers drawing patterns on the wet skin. She met him stay there as long as he needed knowing that was one hell of a work out. She suddenly felt him moving placing a very long kiss right between her breasts. The slight pain that came with it let her know he just left a hickey, one no one else could see. Truly she didn't care she just ran her fingers through his hair massaging his scalp while Adam did whatever he wanted. Her body was open to him and she trusted him to never hurt her. So she didn't mind that he was enjoying her ski and leaving marks. She enjoyed it too. "Maybe you could leave some of those kisses up here?" Kim asked as her fingers moved to cup his jaw. "Sounds like a dream." Adam moved his body without disconnecting from hers.
One kiss turned into a full make out session, like teenagers who couldn't get enough of their first love. But it occurred to Kim this was her first love. Her only love. That made it even more special. They rolled to their sides still connected. Kim wrapped her leg higher on his waist, her foot against his butt cheek. "I never want this night to end." Kim started to kiss his neck. Adam groaned knowing where this was going and if he died from exhaustion it would be one hell of a way to go. "You can't get enough tonight huh?" Adam asked with a smug look on his face. "Of my soon to be husband? Never!" Kim laughed rocking her hips slightly. "Thank god! Because I can't get enough of you either." Holding her closer he started to pick up the speed of his thrusts. It was hurried and crazy but incredibly satisfying.
"What time is it?" Kim asked her head resting on his chest. "Um looks like 2 in the morning. I really don't want to end this but we both need to sleep. We have to be up in 5 hours." Adam resting his head on hers. "Yeah I don't to end this either. The good thing is we have the rest of our lives. I love you so much baby!" Kim leaned up to kiss him. "I love you too! So very much darling!" Adam kissed her again before they closed their eyes to go to sleep wrapped in each other.
Later that morning when Adams alarm went off the couple awoke still tired from the night before. But still on cloud nine knowing they were engaged. "Good morning my handsome fiancé!" Kim was beaming with happiness. "Well good morning my gorgeous fiancé!" Adam kissed her softly knowing they couldn't get carried away. "So should we go out tonight to celebrate after my students leave?" Kim was already getting up moving towards the shower. "That's a great idea! I will find somewhere nice to go so we can have some private time. Hopefully no people taking lots of photos of us. Would hate to punch someone on our night out." Adam laughed knowing they both hated that. "Yeah let's not do that. You gonna join me?" Kim was grabbing her clothes for the day as they talked. "Hell ya!" Adam jumped up and ran over to join her in the bathroom.
They showered washing their bodies carefully paying close attention to their private areas. After last night and this morning they were sore to say the least. Kim was honestly surprised she wasn't bruised down there and that she could still walk. The hot water really helped ease the soreness for a bit at least. Adam got out first as there was less he needed to do. He dried off and got dressed and started something to eat. Kim exited the the shower and started to dry off. She saw the mark Adam left of her chest. She smiled a bit before getting ready for breakfast. She walked out seeing Adam making their breakfast. "Well I'm loving this domestic side of you soon to be husband." Kim smirked walking closer. "Oh yeah? Well I love seeing you all domestic when you cook dinner for me. So what's your day looking like?" Adam wasn't sure of her plans for the day.
"So I have a full dress rehearsal. Hence why I didn't do my makeup. And then my students will preform for me before they learn a new routine for them to perform tomorrow. What about you?" Kim ate her breakfast as they talked. "Um just work. Not sure if we have a case or not today but it should be a good day. I do need to buy some more ammunition since I went to the gun range yesterday to blow off some steam. If you know what I mean." Adam gave her a very knowing look. Kim busted out laughing. "Sorry! But it was definitely worth all the pent up tension!" Kim gave him back the knowing look. "You are right, it was! But it was hard that's for sure!" Adam kept a straight face and Kim lost it laughing again. "No pun intended right?" They both laughed at that.
They headed out the door together hand in hand. Both carrying a duffle bag, Adams with a change of clothes in case and Kim's with her dance shoes and hygiene supplies. She was a big advocate of always being prepared. They exited the building and moved towards their cars. It was a warmer day which was unusual for the end of March but they appreciated it greatly. "Okay be safe today. I love you! And I will see you tonight!" Kim kissed him hard before pulling back her smile wide. "You have a good day as well. Break a leg! Love you darling! Call me later!" Adam kissed her back right before he got in the car to leave.
Adam arrived at work 15 minutes later. He enter the bullpen to very loud congratulations and hoots and hollers. He just smiled and enjoyed the happiness from his family, his team. "What happened to Paris?" Kevin asked. "Well apparently she was thinking the same thing! But we had a heart to heart last night. Confessed how much we love the other. Including that I don't care about her money, only her. She was so excited and over joyed with happiness so just blurted it out. I was shocked! Thought she talked to you guys. But she didn't she explained everything and we decided it's what we really want. So we are doing it." Adam beamed madly thinking about that night. "Wait did she have a ring for you? I mean I know you didn't have one for her." Jay was shocked. "No she hadn't bought one yet. We decided we don't need them but we will still get them when we find the right ones. No rush on it but we didn't want to not tell you guys." Adam was really happy and excited to tell them and thrilled with how happy they are about it.
As the day dragged on with no cases Adam search for a restaurant for dinner that night. Once he found the perfect place Beatnik on the River, he changed search options to finding the perfect ring for Kim. It was a long tedious search but at least he now had some ideas of what was out there. He had no clue about shopping for engagement rings so his search really opened his eyes to all the styles that were possible. "Hey Er? Could you come look at this?" Adam asked from his spot in the bullpen. "Yeah of course." Erin walked over looking at his screen. "What do you think of these? Any look like Kim? I mean I think this one is perfect but I want advice." Adam was hoping he was on the right track. "Seriously this is stunning Adam. Can you even afford it?" Erin was shocked by what she saw in front of her. "Yeah I don't have rent to pay anymore. Kim owns her place. I do help with the bills but I don't have rent. So I have a decent chunk towards it. And I know she doesn't want something too big. As much as she's flashy in her public life she's the complete opposite at home. I love that about her." Adam lowered his head blushing like a teenager.
Kim on the other hand hadn't mentioned anything to anyone. She was busy getting her hair and make up done and getting her costume on for her dress rehearsal. It was the first time the entire cast would preform together on stage. Making sure everyone had their cues perfect and the timing and lighting were right. The music would be played live as well so it would feel like a real performance. Her students were in the audience watching the entire time. Jen has them taking notes as the cast danced before them. The director took notes as well of things that needed to be tweaked. The process was long but it was how they made sure the spectators got what they paid for. And Kim would only bring her best. She would never want to disappoint her fans.
The first half of rehearsal went swimmingly as far as Kim was concerned. They rested during the intermission time. Kim stretched and Steven was on his phone. Before heading back on stage Kim used the restroom which was part of her routine. She liked to keep the same routine during rehearsals as the actually shows. It kept her time management in check. With her return the stage it was another hour and a half to perform before getting feedback. The time flew by quickly and as they music closed Kim took her bows for the crowd, her students. They moved back stage to get their feedback from the director. Feedback sessions were given in front of all performers. No one was spared. Kim felt it was best for her students to be present so they could see how it really works.
The students were brought back stage with the director understanding why they were there. He started to criticize the back up dancers, one by one. Both positive and negative feedback was given. At this level of dance company negative comments were rare but it still happened. The feedback also discussed on how the make up and outfits looked from the audience. And how the lights reflected on their faces. Kim looked over to see the students faces shocked at how they were spoken to. "Kimberly! Wonderful performance, though you were too happy. I need you to dial it back. Emotion is important but you weren't showing the right ones. Please try to remember what the Ballet is about. Otherwise it was flawless." The director praised her and that wasn't unusual. Several extras left in tears but Kim understood it was their first show so they were nervous and just needed to relax. But it showed that Kim wasn't actually being hard on the students she was just being honest and trying to help them.
She left feedback and headed to change out if her costume before washing the make up off her face. Adam in the meantime took off to the jewelry store looking for the ring he saw online. He walked in with the picture on his phone. He didn't want to look he just wanted that ring. "Can I help you sir?" The associate asked. "Um yeah I'm looking for this specific ring. Do you have it?" Adam showed her the phone. "Yes it's slightly smaller than that one by an 8th of a carat but you can't tell the difference. Let me show you." Adam followed her to the section that had the engagement rings with matching wedding bands. The women took the ring out for Adam to view. "It looks like the exact same ring. It's perfect." It was a round diamond set atop a halo of diamonds. The band was simple and platinum.
"I will take it!" He opened his wallet to pay when the associate asked if he was a cop. "Yeah how did you know?" He was confused. She simply pointed to the badge on his belt. "First responders get a 10% discount." She replied as she took the discount off the total and then swiped his card for the purchase. "Here you go sir! I hope she likes it." Adam nodded as he left the store. He headed back to the district with the ring in his pocket. He entered the bullpen excited for the night ahead. He knew Kim would be available after 6:30 so he was in no rush to leave work. It had been a slow day but a very productive one. His desk was clear of paperwork and he booked a reservation for dinner and got Kim's ring which he planned to give her while they were away. It made him incredibly happy seeing his life come together like this.
Kim arrived home just before 4. Her students had warmed up while she was changing and getting cleaned up. As soon as they walked through the Kim pointed towards the studio. She wasn't wasting time when she had a date planned with her fiancé. "Alright who wants to go first?" Kim wanted to see who would step it up. The only male performer stepped up first. The group stood back and watched as he moved across the floor. It was a five minute routine which wasn't really difficult but it was a chance to show what they had learned. As he finished Kim and Jen applaud his effort. "Okay so the moves were there, the extensions were better, stronger than before. But I didn't believe you felt it. It was like you were in your head. You know the steps so feel the music and let that flow into the movement. Otherwise nice improvement."
Kim watched each dancer stand before her. She gave them all feedback, good and bad. It was the job and it was real. This was how the dance works worked. They had to get used to that now. As the last performer took their place Kim gritted her teeth. This was the one she dreaded. The one who didn't listen and gave attitude. This would not be fun. Again she watched as the girl danced in front of her. It was hard to watch. More like painful. She learned nothing, maybe she didn't care. As she finished her dance Kim swallowed hard before clapping like she had done for the rest. "Okay so you got the steps right but the extensions were not there. The movement was short and stunted. The flow didn't exist. And your face showed no emotion. I feel like you haven't learned anything and I wish you luck in the future." Kim paused trying not to flip out.
"Whatever this whole thing was stupid! You aren't even good. You lucked into your job. Probably slept with someone to get it." The girl know as Christy stomped her feet. "You are entitled to your opinion. That's fine. But so you aware I've been dancing since I was 5. Got my first contract at 10 traveling Europe. I was there till I was 20 before returning to the US. I had many offers but Chicago was the only one that fit my time frame. So am I lucky Absolutely but I sure as hell didn't sleep with anyone to get this job. Now line up! You are all learning a new routine. Harder than the last one." Kim went through the steps with them several times before they practiced alone. She once again helped each student showing them proper movement and extensions. How to flow from one step to the next effortlessly. She saw some students really enjoying the exercise, some struggling and one who didn't care.
As the next wore on Kim stayed upbeat in helping the students but was dying in the inside. That one student was wearing her down. It was brutal and unnecessary. She tried to spend time with those who were struggling but that also wanted help. That made the most amount of sense to her. By 6 the students were beat once again and ready for a break. "Alright. You are free for the night. But again you will perform this routine tomorrow. And before you leave I will give each who want it a copy of the diet and exercise routine that most dancers use to help you build up that stamina and strength. Have a great night! See you all tomorrow morning!" Kim walked them out only to see Adam walking in. He waved bye to the students as he walked in. He grabbed a drink from the kitchen while he waited for Kim to lock the door.
"Well I guess that's perfect timing huh?" Adam leaned in to kiss her gently before pulling back. His hand cupped her face as he looked deep into her brown eyes. "I guess so. I just need to shower quick and get ready." Kim started out of the room. "Hold up! What's wrong? You seem upset." He wasn't letting her walk away just yet. "Just that one student who doesn't listen. Accused me of not being good at my job and sleeping with someone to get it. Just really bothered me. Like all my heard work means nothing. But I'm good I just need to shake it off with you. Shower time then we can go!" Kim pulled away to head for the shower. She made sure not to wet her hair as it would take way longer to get ready then.
She noticed Adam looking very dapper as she exited the bathroom. "Well you look super handsome tonight." Kim wink as she pulled on some fresh underwear. "Well thank you. I would return the compliment but you always look sexy as hell." Adam looked himself over in her floor length mirror. "Yeah okay. So semi casual dress tonight? More towards formal than not?" Kim asked wondering what to wear. "Yeah it says business casual for the dress code. So a dress works." Adam watched her go through her regular closet looking for something to wear. "How about this one? It's been a bit since I wore it but it's business casual and it's comfy?" Kim showed him the navy blue sleeveless dress. It was a line and had a collar. She actually wore it to two funerals so this would be a step up for the dress. "Yeah that's perfect. I like that dress a lot. Where did you get it?" Adam watch her put a bra on and start getting into the dress.
"Um Macy's. I needed a navy blue dress for a funeral in Florida. The guy went to Penn State and they requested those attending to wear navy blue. It was almost October so it was really hard to find but I like it." Kim just shrugged as she put some earrings in and grabbed her heals. "Who passed away?" Adam was curious as she was gone for 10 years and didn't talk to her family at all. "Uh a guy I knew from school when I was a kid. We stayed in contact while was out of the country. Actually I stayed in contact with quite a few. Anyway uh he had cancer, caught it for years. Um he got Covid on top of the cancer and died with in a couple of days. He would have died soon anyway as they found 17 new tumors along his spine while he was in the hospital. But it was still rough." Kim shook off the sadness.
"Okay I'm ready to head out." Kim twirled a bit for Adam to see her entire outfit. "Perfect let's go. We have reservations at 7." He offered his hand as they walked out the door. The drive was pretty quiet but not awkward. They shared glances of each other when they thought the other wasn't looking. They pulled up to the valet and headed inside the restaurant. "I've never been here before." Kim was looking around at all the flowers hanging from the ceiling and at the funky decor. "I haven't either but I like the hippie vibe and it's in the water. So I figured it would be perfect. Plus it has great reviews." Adam told the hostess his name and they followed her to their table that over looked the water. "This really is pretty Adam. I love that you are taking me out of my comfort zone." Kim held his hand as she looked over the menu. "Well the nights not over." Adam just winked watching her blush.
They decided to get several appetizers and share them as their meals. Kim loved tapas restaurants because you could try a lot of different things before getting stuffed so that's what they did here. The food was good but the cocktails were amazing and unique. They loved it and no one took photos of them. Kim had no idea if he warned the place ahead of time or it was just a pleasant coincidence. But either way she was thrilled. After dinner they headed back to the car. Adam still had one more destination in mind before heading home. He drove to the Navy pier. He figured they could get some ice cream and ride the Ferris wheel. It was a signature thing to do in Chicago so they were going to experience it together.
As they walked closer Kim got nervous and clung on to Adam. "You don't like heights do you?" He watched her shake her head no. "Well I know you trust me so trust me on this. It will be fine, I promise. The view is amazing." He watched her nod but she was still clinging on for dear life. He paid for the tickets and they waited for their turn. As they got on Kim looked terrified but trusted Adam that she was safe with him. The wheel slowly moved them to the top allowing them to the city from a completely different angle. It was breathtaking. "I can't believe I'm going to say this but it's breathtaking up here. Thank you for this. It's been a wonderful evening." Kim turned slightly in her seat to kiss him. It started slow but became more passionate and intense. They broke for air when they started to move again. When they hit the ground the walked hand in hand looking at the vendors and the view.
They got ice cream and sat on a bench eating in silence with his arm wrapped around her. "Remember we leave tomorrow night for our getaway. And I want to leave as soon as possible Okay?" Adam was trying to get her to pack ahead but she was always last minute with her clothes at least. "Oh I know! But I still have my students tomorrow and I won't rush them out so you can get laid!" Kim laughed at his offended face. "So the game is coming with us? Perfect!" Adam chose to play along, it was the truth. "Work for me baby!" Kim laughed and patted his leg as she got up to throw out her trash. It had a perfect night. They headed home ready to continue the night but Adam noticed Kim sound asleep when they arrived. He chuckled softly before carrying her to their apartment. After getting them inside he brought her to bed where he undressed her and put one of his shirts on her. He was surprised how out she was but it had been a very long day on very little sleep. And their was always tomorrow.
He got in next to her in just his boxers pulling her back tight against his chest. "Goodnight my darling. I love you. Only you."
