So here is another scene from Glass Joe and Dana's Honeymoon and really showing the aftermath of the Rescue of the Mizzerans where the Mizzer Humanimals often like to visit Third Earth because it feels more like home than the rest of the Earthling Colonized Planets including First Earth so even if they are only sightseeing for a few hours before returning to their home dimension it's not hard for the Native Mutant Animals to pick them out from a crowd as we shall soon see
As Lily fell asleep to Glass Joe's lullaby, Joe tenderly stroked the Mutant Puppy sleeping on his chest and thought back to his and Dana's honeymoon...He thought about that night after their confrontation with his father and before Jeanette sent him the old picture to prompt him to tell Dana about his roots, but to cool off and calm down after have a wine bottle thrown at them Joe and Jeanette took Dana on a tour to see the famous landmarks of Paris Joe held so dear to his heart...He noticed when he took Dana to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe a strange sort of spell seemed to wash over the Mutant Doberman...She quietly held her hands clasped in front of her as she stared up at these monuments and became very still she did not even wag her tail! But a sweet smile was on her muzzle and her eyes seemed a bit glazed over for a minute and Joe worried for a moment that she was relapsing into that meek submissive slave persona they had worked so hard to exorcise but no this was different...This seemed to be a strange...Trance state that at the moment she could not explain.
FLASHBACK
Later when they got back to the hotel Joe asked her about it as they got ready for bed.
"It's a little complicated…" Dana said quietly as she sat in the hotel bed naked, but covering up to her chest with the blanket "...I've had to think about it most of the day to realize what it was…"
"Well…" Glass Joe said as he also stripped to his birthday suit, Joe with his delicate body being susceptible to cold often wore fuzzy pajamas except for the dead of summer...But even though it was December he wasn't sure if he would ever need more than a pair of underpants for basic modesty when sleeping now that he had a very warm and furry creature sharing his bed with him it was far better than an electric blanket "...There is no rush to wake up early tomorrow...So we have all the time in the world to go over it…"
"So when you asked me what I was feeling looking at those monuments…" Dana said as Joe slipped into the bed beside her "...I realized upon seeing them I was feeling a sense that...I remembered they were important from something...Before being born as a Mutant...I don't know exactly why they were important...But I just had a feeling that they were important to the...Time before...I felt strange feelings of nostalgia that flowed in and out like the tide of emotions to events I don't remember from my previous life…"
Joe's eyes were wide...He had come to understand from what he heard or read in reports that the Planet Mizzer in the dimension of First Earth was essentially 'Space America' but apparently French culture was also really important there too...But actually that made sense given America and France's long history together the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France after all so maybe that was part of it.
"Well…" Joe said quietly "...Do you want to try to find out more about these memories?"
"Not really…" Dana said "...Not if I can help it! I know I was told I was a horrible bullying neighbor in that previous life but that's not really what scares me the most...It was somehow I know...I was a wife and mother in that life...Married to another Dog...And that thought now gives me the Heebie-Jeebies...But with what I've learned...I realized that means there are the souls of my previous dog husband and children in the netherworld...And I've become a completely different person with a new husband and soon to be new child!"
"Ah…" Joe said "...I see." He pulled his knees closer and wrapped his arms around them "I know Piston Hondo and Great Tiger believe in reincarnation...I don't know what I believe I know in France it is fashionable to be an atheist but with what I've learned I know I can't call myself that without being a liar! But still the thought of reincarnation frightens me but I also calm myself by remembering what the Cat-Girl said about Humanimals...That they are special magical creatures and normal rules don't apply to them so whatever happened to you does not apply to me as a human being…"
However seeing Dana still looking disturbed at her new revelation still made him wish he could cheer her up somehow.
Then Dana said "We saw other Humanimal Souls who are now Mutants in that vision the Cat-Girl gave us...A lot of them seem to be students at Leonardo's school...Do you think we should tell them…"
Glass Joe was much quicker "No! That would be a horrible thing to tell a child! We know about the secret Humanimal past because it was an emergency! But I think this secret should only be on a need-to-know basis! From what I remember some of those Mutant Children were horribly tortured by the labs that created them! Can you imagine saying to a child you were tortured because you were naughty in a previous life?"
Dana saw Joe's point "I think you're right...For now the secret of what we were is on a need-to-know basis."
And finally she yawned showing her long jaws full of sharp teeth and laid her head down on his bare chest...She fell asleep before he did...He simply stroked her head-fur for a while after that feeling sorry for his beloved...He wished he could help her more but he just didn't know how!
Obviously this is important set-up for what will come later in the story, so while Mizzer was mostly American Culture being founded by Neo-Hippies there was a lot of worship for both British and French culture with a certain French educational cartoon series being frequently shown in Mizzer classrooms
