The building was not in its usual state, that's for sure. It was much more… 'lively'? A lot of authority and bystanders swarmed the building, several people doing several different tasks such as checking for fingerprints and DNA, others scanning over videocameras, people using their quirks to hopefully track down the culprits responsible for the crime. No one could do their jobs right now with all the technical equipment being overlooked. They really just needed all employees inside to find out what was used for what.

But more on the stranger side, heroes and police from both America and Japan were present. According to a coworkers, someone in the notorious group from Japan known as, 'The League of Villains' broke into the office building last night. They stole some important documents the building was helping prepare and transfer to another organization. Apparently, they busted in shortly after Carissa left the building last night. It put Carissa on edge learning that news.

Wow, she had just missed them.

After answering more questions from the detectives, Carissa had to adventure her way to her work area. Even more people were up there, both in the rooms and the halls. Maybe she shouldn't be too surprised. What little information Carissa knew regarding the League of Villains was pretty unnerving, how they were an organization willing to commit horrendous crimes and trying to bring anarchy to their own country. Them coming here couldn't be a good sign.

Feminine giggles chirped from the door before Carissa even reached it, mixed with a young, husky masculine voice.

The room was filled with even more heroes and police, scanning through computers and files. Searching for what was stolen, most likely. Was she even going to be able to work today? Scanning the room, there was no sign of her boss. Perhaps he was in his office accompanied by authority. However, Carissa noticed a group of her female coworkers surrounding, sweet-talking and giggling around someone who looked to be a hero. It was difficult to make out the person at first despite the massive red wings attached to his back, but as the girls moved a bit, Carissa could make them out.

It was a supremely attractive young man, around the same age as her. He had such a nicely-structured face with not a single blemishing feature, his hair wildly messy and his eyebrows bushy. He wore a tight black shirt with some kind of yellow pattern on it over a jacket and matching pants, his hands adorned with black gloves. However, even with his wings, his most striking feature were his beautiful golden eyes. He flashed this hot grin at the workers who surrounded him, speaking to the women about things Carissa couldn't hear. They all swooned over him, giggling and quickly responding to everything he said.

Suddenly those golden eyes pointed in her direction out of nowhere.

Carissa's breath got caught in her throat. Her heart stopped, staring back at the man who looked her way.

His smile faltered, his eyes widening as if he were surprised to see her there.

An embarrassed blush bloomed in Carissa's cheeks. She tore her gaze away from him and headed for her desk, forcing her frozen body to move. As soon as she sat down, the flustered woman got all her documents ready and filed. Thankfully with a lot of effort, Carissa was able to get everything done. But it really took away from a lot of her sleep. She was certain there were bags under her eyes. Looking all sleep-lacked must've made her look weird to that man.

Why're you thinking about that? Carissa thought to herself. She shook her head, blaming the lack of rest on her strange thoughts. The woman got to working right away, not wanting her boss to find a reason to get mad at her. She typed away, preparing a document on her computer and proceeding to fill it with the proper information. She could hear the giggly feminine voices of her coworkers shift to that of confusion and a single pair of footsteps heading in her direction.

Carissa frowned to herself. He isn't actually coming over here, is he?

"Heyo, are you good?"

Reluctantly, Carissa turned to the left and saw the man now standing in the doorway of her office space. His curious-filled golden eyes staring down at her and this small yet kind smile looming in his features. His red feathers were beautiful and really big.

Not wanting to be rude, especially toward a foreign hero, Carissa gave him a calculated smile. "I am. Just tired." She answered with the truth, just vague.

"I'll bet. You look like you could use rest." The winged man said.

So he did notice.

"I was up working on documents the whole night." Carissa said, turning back to the computer to continue working.

Hawks frowned a bit, still smiling. "Doesn't seem like you have to do that."

"My boss told me to do it. I'm sorry, but I'm kind of still busy this morning." Carissa said, also true but hoping he would go away.

There was a brief pause. She thought the man went away until his voice sounded again.

"I actually have to ask you about last night."

Isn't that the detective's job? Carissa thought but held her tongue. Well, heroes did need to ask questions to bystanders sometimes, too. She held in a sigh and turned her complete attention to the winged man.

His smile was still there, and it seemed to grow as the woman returned her gaze to him. "What time did you leave last night?" He asked.

"Four-thirty."

"…That late?"

"A lot of documents to cover."

"Weren't you here all of yesterday, too?"

"…Yes?" Carissa was about to ask how he knew that, but realized he could've checked her schedule.

Hawks stared at her for a moment before continuing. "When you left last night, did you notice any suspicious individuals hanging around the area?"

"Not that I saw." Carissa replied after some thought.

"No one watching through any of the local shops around here?"

"Mmm-mmm."

"Really? Hmm." Hawks hummed in thought, glancing away to think. She hoped that was the end of it, only for him to look back at her. "What's your name, sweet bird?"

"…Carissa. Carissa Lockhart."

"Ooh~, what a beautiful name." Hawks complimented dreamily, a little dramatically. "I'm Hawks."

"Thank you. Nice to meet you." Carissa said.

His golden eyes closed halfway, grabbing a chair Carissa had against the wall and pulling it up, dropping himself into the chair and crossing one leg over the other.

Carissa blinked. "Um…?"

"So…what made your boss want to have you do so much work?" Hawks asked, leaning his head to the side to rest it on a few fingers. "Are you that good at your job?"

"…Uh…" Carissa wasn't sure how to answer.

"Hawks, focus."

Hawks lightly groaned, rolling his eyes as a fellow hero of his came into the space and bluntly scolded him. "Alright, alright." He got up from the chair and left the space. The other hero turned and apologized to Carissa before leaving as well.

After several more hours of investigating, all authority with security excluded left the building. They were able to figure out which documents were stolen. With the newfound information, the heroes of Japan were going to have to figure out from here on how to approach the situation.

Once again, not too much happened shortly after they left. Everything appeared to return to normal. Carissa was once again called into her boss's office. Mr. Baxter was still mad from Carissa rejecting his advances again yesterday, but thanked her for getting all of that work done. He did however give her a little more work than necessary again, just not an unnecessary workload. Did he notice how tired Carissa was? Did he feel bad for the possibility she could've been murdered by villains because of his unreasonable order? Whatever the reason, he didn't make it clear. Most of the women in the office were also shooting Carissa dirty looks. She immediately guessed it had to do with Hawks, but chose not to think about it too much.

Carissa stayed back a little later than her usual clock-out time, everyone else leaving before her. Once her work was done, she returned home once again. Hopefully she could get better rest and relax waking up tomorrow morning.
