Luna- 11
Will had continued to treat Ray like it was nothing, after the blow up he and Gia had he wanted to make it up to her. Especially knowing their daughter had heard them fighting. That was a sucker punch to Will. He never wanted her to hear him or Gai fight, it then put her in the middle something Will never wanted for his daughter.
One morning after Will dropped her off at school he went to see his ex. Gia was doing some light house work and stopped when she heard a knock at her door she had gone to check it. When she opened it she saw Will holding a coffee tray and a bag of food.
"Can we talk?" Will asked.
"I guess, I don't have to be at work till this afternoon. Come in" Gia replied.
Will stepped inside the house and they went to the kitchen, he passed her a coffee and a sandwich from the bag. He then took one for himself.
"I'm sorry about the other night. About the fight" He started.
"All I'm asking Will respect my wishes. If I can respect yours, the least you can do is respect mine. You ask me not to bring Luna around the district, me and Jay, you ask me not to bring my work home. You are literally involved with a mobster. A murderer. He asked to see her Will. I don't want Luna around him"
"Alright. I won't bring her to meet him. But Gia, I've been her parent a lot longer than you. You can't dictate who I can bring her around. It involves her safety yes but don't tell me who I can and cannot bring around Luna"
"But it's ok for you to tell me who I can and cannot bring around her?"
"I didn't say that and you know I didn't. I don't want to fight. I won't bring her to see Ray. And as far as if we wanna bring Luna around anyone, we talk and discuss it first. Anyone you wanna bring around Luna, we discuss it together and same with me. I want us to have a good relationship and friendship for Luna, when she said she heard us fighting. That was a punch to the gut"
"I don't wanna fight either. I had a funny feeling this case would somehow jeopardize our relationship"
"I'm the same way. It's bad enough I'm lying to Natalie, I don't wanna put my relationship with you and Luna in danger either"
Gia wanted to tell him something she found out but she didn't know how to tell him, it would start a huge fight.
"Before I go in later I'll make sure to drop Luna off at the hospital with you. It's best she stays with someone during this"
"That should be no problem"
Will soon had to leave for his shift, Gia hated lying to him but this part shouldn't come from her. As much as she wanted to tell him it would affect their relationship. She didn't want that for them or their daughter.
The morning had slowly passed and the afternoon approached, Will had been at work and with Natalie discussing wedding plans.
"I was thinking, if it was ok with you and Gia of course. I'd like for Luna to be one of the bride's maids" Natalie says to her fiance.
"I'd think she'd love it, I'll ask her and Gia. But I do think she would love it"
Natalie smiled and kissed his cheek rubbing her nose against it as well. Will smiled and kissed her. Just then Will had been hit with a small force as he looked to see his daughter hugging. Looking down and smiling seeing his daughter.
"Hi there my love" Will wrapped his arms around her, kissing her head.
"Hi daddy," Luna replied happily.
He glanced to see Hank and Gia, he felt his stomach doing flip flops. He had a pretty good guess as to why they were there at the hospital. Keeping a smile he looked at his daughter.
"Sweetheart why don't you go to the lounge and wait for me, I gotta talk to your mom and Uncle Hank"
She nodded. "Ok" She turned back to her mother and hugged her. "Bye mom"
Gia hugged her daughter. "Bye honey, I'll see you later"
"Bye Uncle Hank" She looked to the older Sergeant.
"See you kiddo" Hank gave her a smile.
The youngest Halstead went to the doctor's lounge to wait for her father, she pulled out her homework and started. Will gave one glance to the lounge at his daughter then followed Hank and Gia. The trio had gone out near the ambulance bay. Gia stayed quiet letting Hank take the lead, Will would be furious either way but more so coming from her.
"Here's the deal, your voice on Ray Burke's wire is a problem" Hank started.
"Yeah Gia told me, I didn't know PD had something going on with him" Will replied.
"It's not just PD, Feds are in on this too. It's a joint task force, listen I came to give you a heads up. They're looking your way which means"
"Which means what Voight?"
"It's possible they could think Luna's involved"
"No. No. Hell no. What I do does not and I repeat NOT involve my daughter"
"We'll do what we can. But they want you for taking kickbacks"
"What the hell you talking about?"
"You ran Ray's blood for free and off the books then accepted his sweetheart deal on his wedding venue. It's a bad move"
"I was treating a patient from the neighborhood. ED docs make house calls all the time they never been an issue with the hospital"
"They are with the feds"
"Unbelievable"
"You can still get ahead of this so from now on whatever happens between you and Ray, pass it on. Become a CI for the taskforce "
Gia swallowed hard, she knew Will was going to get pissed. He was now going to be forced to be a CI.
"An informant? That's crazy. No way. Not to mention, I'm not endangering my daughter"
"Doc this is a big case, high priority. You understand?"
Will shrugged with a scowl on his face shaking his head.
"You don't have a lot of options"
"Maybe but no."
"Will listen to me you get jammed up with the feds it could cost you your medical license. You could possibly lose Luna"
"I'm not losing my daughter and I'm not becoming an informant. I said no"
"Wrong answer. I'll be in touch"
Hank saw the look between the two and left. Will glared at his ex.
"You knew," He said, anger filling his voice.
"I found out right before you came over this morning. I wanted to tell you, I didn't know how. You act as if I wanted this to happen. If you hadn't done any of this, this wouldn't be happening" Gia replied, anger filling her voice.
"I'm not doing it. Not happening. I know all about what happens to informants if they get busted and I'm not putting Luna at risk"
"She wouldn't have been at risk if you had just kept your goddamn mouth shut!"
Rather than say anything to her Will just went back inside, he went straight to the lounge taking a moment to watch his little girl. Just seeing her was enough to have all that anger melt away. Part of him never wanted to admit it but Gia may have been right.
His little girl wouldn't have been put at risk if he had just kept his mouth shut. If anything happens to her, it will be on him and he wouldn't be able to live with himself. Let alone forgive himself. He went over and just hugged his little girl. Luna looked at her father slowly wrapping her arms around him.
"Dad, you ok?" Luna asked, a bit concerned.
"I am now. I just had a very long day" Will replied with a small smile.
"Daddy, what's going on with you and mom?"
"It's...very complicated adult business that's all. Your mother and I love you very much that's one thing that'll never change"
"Do you and mom hate each other?"
"Of course not, we have our disagreements just like everyone, it doesn't mean we hate each other. We love and care for each other"
"I don't wanna be able to not see one of you"
"Honey, what are you talking about?"
"The way you and mom have been fighting, you may keep her from me. She may keep me from you"
"Oh baby. No. We would never do that to you, no matter what's going on between your mother and I, it'll never affect if you see us or not. I promise"
Luna hugged her father tightly. "I love you daddy"
"I love you too my little star"
Before Will knew it, it was the end of his shift he had taken his daughter home. While Luna had gotten ready for bed, Will sat out on the steps of his house. Instead of Gia coming this time it was Jay he glanced to see his brother.
"There's really no other way? I have to be an informant?" Will asked.
"I'm sorry man" Jay said.
"I'm endangering my little girl"
"I won't let that happen. Neither will Hank or Gia"
"She can't hurt Jay. She's a little girl"
"Luna will be safe. You have my word"
Will just went inside and went to check on his daughter. Luna had been fast asleep tucked into her bed. She was holding her stuffed bear her father had gotten when she was a toddler. The redhead man went into her room and just watched her as she slept. Something he'd always done.
He smiled as he bent down to her bed side, it was the most precious sight he'd ever seen. Always had been, always will be. But deep down he was hurt he could have most likely put his baby girl in danger. She may now have a target on her back.
"I'm so sorry my Lu Lu. But don't worry. I'll protect you. Always"
