Determination

"Keep… Going…" A man said, breathing heavily.

He wears cracked dark metal pieces on his body, the thin metal clings to his body with no visible threadings or straps to tighten it, armor like this doesn't exist, at least, not in this world.

Half of his helm is broken, exposing half of his face. A stream of blood falls over his exposed blue eye.

This man… Is Forrest Smith, The Previous Gun Hero.

His hand grasps his torso, trying to stop the blood slowly spilling out in the gaps of his broken armor. His other hand, holding some metal wires over his shoulder, dragging a box large as his torso, with red like mist seeping out of the case.

Behind him, is a large metallic pod now burnt, and broken.

"Can't… Stop… Now…"

"Come on Officer Smith…" Forrest said to himself.

"You… Must… NOT… LET… THey're… efforts… be… in vain…" Forrest whispers, a tear drops, mixed in blood, and rolls off of his cheek

The Gun on his hip weakly hums, as the fractured blue gemstone cracks even more.

"Wake up…" A woman whispers.

"Ugh…" A young man groans.

"Get up…" The woman whispers again, gently nudging the man.

"Mmmmm…"

The woman sighs. "No other choice…"

A hand grasps Misato's cheek and pulls.

"AGH!" Misato wakes up, slapping the hand away from his face. "Ok I'm up!" He hisses at the pain, rubbing his cheek. "Itai…" He mutters in Japanese, he lightly glares at his mother, Hope Morgan.

Like Misato, she has black hair but soft and warm brown eyes on her face. She is a Japanese woman in her late 40s, her frail looking body is a deception. She can do many tasks with little to no issue.

"Especially in regards to inflicting pain…" Misato thought to himself.

Hope lightly frowns. "I wouldn't have done that if you didn't stay up so late, Misato-chan. With how hard you were sleeping, you would have awakened at noon."

Misato rolls his eyes. "What a way to start my birthday…"

Hope smiles and kisses her son's cheek. "Happy birthday…"

Misato smiles back, hugging his mother.

Today is August 12th, the Year is 2022. Today… Is his birthday.

"Now hurry up, my lazy brat, don't you have a lot of things to do today with your friends? It's almost eleven." Misato's mother scolds.

"Hai Hai" Misato says, hopping off his bed.

Misato kicks the soccer ball across the grass, he runs, occasionally kicking the ball forward, but not too far, he continues, going for the goal. The goalie raises their hands, ready to block his shot.

But someone steals it, running past him with the ball. Misato quickly pivots, running to catch up with the player. Misato dashes past them, and faces his opponent. Together, the two 'dance' for the ball.

The player Misato faces is more experienced than he is. Using various tricks and advanced techniques with the ball to slip past Misato's defense but only for a few seconds as Misato's conditioning allows him to catch up and stop the player in their tracks, slowing them down.

It goes on in a cycle for a bit, until a young caucasian man with dark brown hair and even darker brown eyes slips by, taking the ball from Misato's opponent.

"Ya James!" Misato cheers as he trails behind his friend, who kicks the ball forward to the other team's goal.

James grins, he moves to the left side of the goal with the defenders and the goalie ready to intercept.

"Go Misato!" James yells out, kicking the ball to the side, right towards Misato in the middle in front of the goal.

The opposing defenders move to kick it away but Misato swiftly hits the ball with the side of his foot. "Crap, I hit it too hard!" The ball moves too far and it bounces off a nearby defender by accident.

Luckily, the defender is too far away to reach it in time. Misato gasps, he quickly dives, swinging his foot, kicking the ball hard, the Goalie misses the ball, and Misato's shot hits the net.

"YA!" James cheers, running up to Misato, patting his back hard. "Way to go!"

The soccer players gather around Misato, complimenting him.

"You're pretty good, could have used your speed back in High School." A player compliments.

"Misato is the most determined guy I know, in almost any game, whether he's good or bad. He always gives it his all." James says, praising his friend, patting Misato's shoulder.

"Nah… I'm just the guy who knows how to not trip over his own feet." Misato says.

Everyone chuckles.

Misato walks out of the bathroom, wearing jeans and a short sleeve shirt. He glances at the glass door, seeing a familiar figure on the chair, on the work computer. He opens the door.

"Hey Dad." Misato greets and the chair turns.

Misato faces a man in his late 40s, with dark brown hair and a few strands of gray on his head. Ben Morgan, Misato's father, smiles, he nudges his glasses over his yellow eyes. "Misato!" Ben says arms wide open.

Misato hugs his father.

"Happy birthday."

"Thank you." Misato says with a grin. "How's the promotion?" He asks.

"It's great, although, I admit, the amount of work that comes with the promotion, might make me question if it's worth it…" Ben says.

Misato lightly hits his father's shoulder with a light hearted frown. "That's Bad…" He says with one finger up like a child imitating an adult.

"Alright." Ben concedes with a smile, the two laugh.

"So there you two are…" Hope says, entering the workroom. "How was soccer with James?" She asks, as Misato's father kisses her cheek.

"It was fun, the weather was perfect, there were mostly clouds, so we weren't suffocating under the sunlight." Misato says.

"That's good. Elizabeth should be here soon." Hope says, reminding Misato of the next event.

Misato furls his eyebrows, staring at his parents. "You know, dad, is this a good time to talk a little bit? There's something I want to say to both of you."

"Of course." Misato's father says, turning off the monitor, turning his chair to face his son. Hope remains silent, ready to listen.

Misato breathes in and out.

"Thank you, for everything… I know that compared to the others… I have a pretty leisurely privileged life. You two… Did most of the work, guiding me to do a lot of things that I don't often touch or fully understand, like taxes or understanding which insurance is better or worse. Without you… I wouldn't really know how to live independently that well."

It took him two more years after he turned sixteen just to learn how to drive and get a license because he was too lazy and scared to learn. His mother, father or his friends in the past drove him to various places. He never drove his own car until recently. Back in High school, he always came home to finish homework, then play games, write a fanfic or hang out with his friends most of the time. Where other students would be juggling between, part time jobs, homework, practicing, doing chores, etc.

Misato continues. "I'm… I'm unambitious, I don't really want a major job, I just want a peaceful, easy life, and unlike most parents, you supported me on it and always assured me that we would always figure out what I would want to do in my life. Instead of trying to make me something that I don't know if I want to be… I'm just going with the flow. With no plan or idea in mind and yet you still help me at a very slow pace compared to other people..."

"Of course we do…" Ben says, walking up to his son, grasping his shoulder.

"We want you to enjoy a life with no regrets." Hope says, grasping Misato's other shoulder.

"There's nothing wrong with wanting an easy life." Ben assures.

Both parents hug Misato.

"I love you…" Misato whispers.

""We love you too…"" His parents whisper back.

A doorbell echoes in the house, Misato walks up to the door, he peeks into the eye hole, seeing a young caucasian woman with curly long brown hair and light violet eyes.

Misato grins, opening the door.

"Happy birthday Misato!" His friend, Elizabeth, or rather, Beth, says holding up a black plain bomber jacket. "I got this fixed just in time!"

Misato grabs the jacket, inspecting the hole, only to find no damage, like it was never there. "It's like nothing happened to it. Thank you so much!" He says immediately putting his favorite jacket on.

"It's the least I could do, you practically saved my life with those study sessions before the exam. Especially on Math."

"I did promise I would help you be better at it."

"That you did." Beth says with a wide smile. "Come on, let's go to the others!" She says motioning her hand for Misato to come.

Misato turns his head back in the house. "I'm off! See you later!" He yells, informing his parents.

"Have fun!" His mother responds, waving goodbye.

Misato stands with a grin, holding a plastic rifle, with a thick wire attached to a machine. Next to him, is a blonde haired young caucasian man with a pair of rectangular glasses on his face, Reuben, Misato's first friend, holding an identical rifle.

"Ready?" Rueben asks.

"Let's do this." Misato replies with a grin, pressing a large red button.

Misato starts the game, an old Arcade game called Terminator Salvation, a fun game that has aged well.

Misato and Rueben have been playing this game at the local arcade during the Summer. Doing each mission with about twelve dollars to spend a week to finish the game, it costs two dollars to play, splitting the money they each have three 'lives' to use, they would play each mission until they finish it, using it as a checkpoint. However, sometimes they wouldn't even finish a mission and they would come back the following week to try again. It took quite a few tries and lots of money in a month, but eventually, they pushed through, and one by one, they finished each part of the game.

Now, it's their third attempt, to complete the final mission of this arcade game. They're time spent on this game has sharpened their wits and reaction speed, allowing the two to fight their way through the terminators with as little damage as possible, as they both target most of the red highlighted terminator before they could damage them. It also helps that the final mission lets the players use an auto cannon, a machine gun, allowing them to decimate the terminators without reloading.

Unfortunately, they are out of money for this game to revive themselves. Reuben is a few hits away from dying, while Misato is about half way through his health. This arcade game is rather difficult for most people, it is impossible to finish without dying.

They watch the soldier on the screen plant the explosive.

EXPLOSIVE CHARGE 2 of 3 PLACED.

"You're almost there guys!" James says, coaching them. Until they see two large mechanical legs through the lift on the screen. "Uh oh…"

"Of course, a final boss fight…" Misato says, raising the gun at the screen. This is uncharted territory for them, they never got this far in their earlier attempts.

"Remember, you're out of extra 'lives'." Gwen, Reuben's older sister and James's girlfriend, a young woman with dirty blonde hair, tied into two braids.

"This is it!" Rueben says.

"Now or never!" Misato says.

"Just fight it out!~" Reuben yells, quoting the lyrics of a certain song they heard. Misato grins at the reference.

Misato and Rueben 'fires' the rifles at the Harvester Terminator, they shoot the green circles, 'destroying' them. They fire at the last circle but the machine slams their arm, knocking Rueben out of the game, leaving Misato with one-fifth of his health left.

"Damn scripted event!" Rueben mutters.

Misato desperately fires at the green circles as the Harvester raises their foot up. He misses the last circle, and it 'hits' Misato.

"It's just a little bit of damage, you're good!" Reuben says and Misato grins, landing his next shots.

The Harvester falls over, and the rest is smooth sailing as Misato takes it out in an explosion.

But then it crawls towards him through the flames, raising its arm, hitting Misato.

Misato struggles to shoot it as it raises each arm, slamming it down on Misato, whittling down his health. His friends yell, encouraging him to keep trying.

One hit away, Misato reloads, and fires at each circle with incredible precision in short bursts, finally blowing up the Harvester's arm, disabling it.

"You did it!" Reuben cheers, patting Misato's shoulder and the Asian-American sighs in relief.

"Holy shit that was close…" Misato says, trying to calm his heart.

Misato and his friends watch the soldier on the screen plant the last explosive on the giant machine and the helicopter approaching them.

"Misato, I don't think it's over…" Beth says, her eyes narrowing. "This is like the moment in a movie where the bad guy is suddenly alive during a countdown."

"Shit she's right." Reuben says as Misato reloads the gun, aiming at the screen.

Explosives Armed:

:07

The Harvester twitches and moves, grabbing the helicopter.

"Oh shit!" James cusses while Gwen cringes at her boyfriend's vocabulary.

""Shoot it!"" Reuben and Beth yell as Misato empties the gun, shooting the last few circles as the timer counts down.

Misato blows up the last arm, with one second to spare, the helicopter flies away,

"Now that was close." Misato places the Gun on the rack after typing his initials into the top scores list. "It was fun though, finally being able to finish the game completely during the summer, it feels nice." As a kid, he often played this game, but never managed to complete it due to how difficult it was. It didn't help when his parents would not spend more money to revive him in the game, which was a good decision as responsible adults. But now as an adult himself, Misato wished to complete his childhood game, which he did.

"It's perfect, considering the fact that it's your birthday." Reuben says. "Especially when you just came in clutch."

"Ya." Misato agrees with a large grin. "Too bad this game gives zero tickets…"

Misato opens the front door, and is greeted at the sight of his parents firing a confetti with a banner hanging on the wall in the living room. His friends clap their hands, and pat Misato's back. Cheering, congratulating him for living Nineteen Years

Misato smiles at the 'surprise', he walks over to the living room, now able to see the banner more clearly.

Happy Birthday

Misato!

観慧

"Is that your name in Japanese?" Beth asks, since she is a recent addition to the group, so she doesn't know much of Japanese culture.

"Yep." Misato confirms. "When it comes to Japanese names though, people can have the same pronounced name but in written form, each character can have a different meaning."

"In fact." Hope says, getting everyone's attention. She points her finger at a picture of an old lady. "Misato's grandmother's name is Misato, however, when written in kanji her name has a different meaning."

"Wow, that's cool." Beth says in awe and she faces the banner. "So what does your characters mean?"

Misato points at '観', "That means, view, perspective, and outlook." He then points at '慧'. "This one means enlightenment and wisdom."

"That's such a cool name!"

"We chose that name as a good omen to raise a brilliant son." Ben says with a proud smile.

"It's like the perfect name too. Misato is pretty open minded." Reuben says while Misato shyly shrugs.

The lights turn off, leaving only one light source in the room.

Everyone turns to the dining table, seeing Misato's mother holding a large ice cream cake and a candle lit on top of it.

She gently places it on the table, James and Gwen gently push Misato to the chair as everyone sings the Happy Birthday song.

Misato smiles wide, it's the best birthday ever, a busy day filled with fun activities with his friends.

He looks at the black and golden striped candle, his favorite color combination.

At the climax of the song, Misato Morgan takes a breath…

But then he sees complete darkness, he hasn't even blown out the candle yet…

Bang!

A gunshot echoes in the room, and Misato hears a glass shattering scream.

"Gwen?!" Misato yells recognizing the voice, he can't see anything!

Bang!

Another gunshot, two masculine voices scream out in another direction.

"Reuben! James?!"

Bang!

Beth screams

"BETH!"

Bang! Bang!

Two gunshots…

Two screams…

Something warm and wet hits Misato's face, he wipes it off with his sleeve.

Suddenly, the lights turn on.

Misato gasps, finding himself surrounded by dead bodies with blood splattered on the walls and the floor.

No…

Everyone…

Misato stares at the faces of the bodies, the faces… Of his friends, lying on the floor, staring at him, with dull blank eyes. He places his hand over his mouth, stopping himself from vomiting but something wet touches his lips.

He looks to see his hand covered in blood. Their blood.

No…

Misato steps back but his foot hits something, he turns.

He sees both of his parents, their cold dead eyes staring at him.

"I-it… Can't… B-be" Misato stutters, observing the room. "No… No… NO-

Bang!

"NOOOOOOO!"

Misato screams and hyperventilates, remembering the sight of his friends and family dead, covered in blood and bullet holes. He tries to move, but it hurts too much to even breathe!

Where is he?!

Misato breathes rapidly, his vision refocuses, now seeing the large pine trees and the cloudy sky.

Finally, he remembers Ren, the ambush, the swordswoman, the suppression device, and… The fall.

Misato tries to lift his arm but winces, so he lies his arm back down and cries.

"Alone again…"

Clang.

Footsteps?

Misato turns his head seeing a blurry gray figure up hill, coming towards him

Who?

"Kill HIM!" The figure- no, the man yells out.

His vision focuses, he sees the soldier rushing towards him, sword raised but then for a brief moment, he sees a ski masked man in dark clothing, wielding a knife, their mask does nothing to hide their sick grin.

Misato roars, adrenaline infused rage courses through his body in a second, he leans up, ignoring the aching pain, he raises his Gun and kills the murderer.

Boom!

He hears the murderer- no, the soldier, cry out in pain as Misato suddenly rolls down a hill. Unable to see the gemstone on the gun is glowing.

At the corner of his vision he sees an outline of a familiar gun with text underneath.

Chimera Goat Revolver:

Recoil effect: Activated.

The suppression device is gone? Recoil effect? Wait, that means he could do this!

Boom!

The force of the gun launches Misato into the air and the Gun transforms, covering Misato in a flash of golden light, now containing the Hero inside a carriage covered in metal plating with a World War I machine attached at the top of the carriage.

Misato groans as the Gun Carriage roughly lands, bouncing, but since the carriage is still the Legendary Gun, instead of bouncing around like a ball, Misato finds himself stuck to the floor like he is glued to it.

A green bottle appears on his hand, he quickly uncorks it and drinks, healing his wounds, however he still feels a bit of pain on his body but it's much more tolerable now.

He then drinks a yellow bottle refilling his SP.

"Teleport: Reichnott's Town!"

Teleportation is being jammed!

DAMN IT

Misato leans up, awkwardly stepping to the front window, grabbing the gun seat on the ceiling to balance himself, he looks at the front, seeing the bottom of the hill. He's going to have to get out the old fashion way.

Misato uncorks a mana potion, refilling his MP. Then one-eighth of his MP disappears, the Gun Carriage reaches the bottom of the hill. The Gemstone glows and the wheels slowly spin faster, and the Gun Carriage 'drives' through the forest.

Fitoria earlier explained how her carriage could run on its own but at the cost of Mana or Soul points, however her carriage dislikes it when she makes it drive on its own instead of having Fitoria pulling it.

"To punish me for doing what it disliked, the Vassal Carriage would often barrage my vision with messages on why this method is not recommended." Fitoria said with a small frown.

"So it spams you?" Misato asked. The more odd quirks these weapons have the more bratty they sound… Aren't they supposed to help the Hero save the world?

"Spam?" Fitoria questioned.

Fortunately after some testing, the Legendary Gun, seems to not give a fuck about that, everyone else was amazed by it, seeing an actual horseless carriage, like the ones they heard of in Faubrey, but Ace pouted at the idea of Misato using a carriage without him pulling. Fitoria admitted she was a little envious of how lenient the Gun was, not inconveniencing Misato for using such a versatile feature.

A thud sound breaks Misato's memory and he turns to see a cloaked figure on the side of the carriage, grabbing the window. He hears another thud at the other side of the carriage, he turns to see another Shadow near the window, trying to climb on the roof.

Misato observes the Shadow inspecting the glass window, "The Three Heroes Church is stupid you prayed to absolutely no one, your gods aren't real, your leaders made that shit up-

Clang!

The Shadow slams their knife against the window but the glass-like material on the Gun Carriage doesn't break, not even scratched. "HOW DARE YOU!" The shadow yells, revealing their feminine voice.

A transparent golden blade phases through the window, 'slicing' the Shadow, stunning them. Misato smirks, holding the custom Mana blade in reverse grip. He then punches the Shadow, his fist goes through the carriage like a ghost, he feels his knuckles smash into their face, likely breaking the Shadow's nose, they fall off of the Gun Carriage.

Misato then takes out the other shadow, swiping the mana blade through the carriage walls, stunning them, and wills the Gun Carriage to turn, hitting a nearby tree to scrape the Shadow off.

The Gun Hero faces forward, driving, until he sees two large trees fall in his path. They are too long to turn, Misato jumps to the top, phasing through the ceiling, and his body stops, whiplashing from the sudden stop due to his feet sticking to the roof.

Misato's eyes narrow as the Gun Carriage approaches the barricade, he crouches and jumps right as the vehicle slams into the logs.

He leaps right over the trees, the Gun Carriage transforms, reappearing as a handgun on Misato hip and transforms back into the Armored Gun Carriage, landing on the other side, its momentum not lost from the obstacle.

Hell ya!

Misato grins at the awesome feat he pulled off. Until something hot slams into the Gun Carriage, he sees a burst of fire erupt at the side windows.

He looks at the rear window, after the fire disperses, he sees Mages in the distance with various magical spells charging up. Misato glares at them and moves to the Gun Seat, lifting the hatch, he sits up, rotating the machine gun to the rear and fires

The Mages at the mountain quickly dive behind cover, their magic spells disappear. Misato turns to the front now, seeing a large pit that can swallow the Gun Carriage whole. He wills the vehicle to turn, it moves right but a wall made out of earth appears, the vehicle crashes into it, scraping against it. Misato turns the vehicle to the other side but another wall appears.

"Guess, I'll jump it." Misato mutters moving to stand on the roof again. He stands but his body casts a shadow from a bright red light behind him.

He turns his head, now seeing a giant fireball flying right at him! Misato quickly phases through the roof, avoiding the fireball that hits the Gun Carriage.

The vehicle turns and flips on its side, rolling towards the giant pit. Misato grunts as he sticks to the floor as it rolls like a thrill ride. He's moving too fast!

The Gun Carriage disappears and Misato tumbles onto the ground, a musket with a bayonet appears in hand. He stabs the weapon into the dirt, slowing himself down a few feet before the pit.

Misato stands with his Chimera Goat Revolver, ready to take another leap but an earth wall appears behind the pit, it's too tall for a risky jump. Misato turns around frowning, seeing the group of enemies approaching him on horseback, wagon, or even on foot.

He doesn't have enough distance to accelerate the Gun Carriage. Unlike a car, the acceleration of a mana fueled Carriage is at the speed of a five year old on a small tricycle, it would take too long to get enough speed since a bunch of assholes can cling onto it and stop the vehicle.

He's faster on foot.

"Kill the Shield Demon's Guardian!" A knight cries out and they all roar eagerly, ready to kill Misato. A row of arrows fly and Misato dives behind a tree.

Misato pokes his head out, wielding a six round grenade launcher, firing a few at the knights and archers, he then runs to the nearest side wall, he blasts the wall away. Behind the wall by a few feet is a steep dirt hill surrounding Misato in a circular row, and a row of soldiers on horses sliding down from the hill.

"Firing Line!" The row of muskets fire at the center of the taking one-third of them out. Misato quickly turns to the group at his left. "Second Volley!" The second row of muskets take them out.

Misato turns to his right, seeing the last group of horseback soldiers.

"Shrapnel!"

The explosion shreds the remaining few.

The earth walls crumble revealing a large ring of steep dirt hills around Misato, with several soldiers and knights on top of the hills, like an arena. The hills are steep and tall, but he has to try!

Misato turns to the nearest hill, which is clear of enemies. He fires a grappling hook over the top of the hill, it reels him in, pulling him up. But something explodes on the other side, disconnecting the hook, Misato falls, rolling back down to the ground. "Damn it!"

The soldiers and knights on the other sides of the 'arena' charge on horseback, right towards Misato. He would need some time to climb out even with the grapple gun but these damn bastards won't give him time! Misato transforms the gun to a light machine gun, modeled after the PKM.

Ratatatatatatatatatataatattatatataaa!

Misato mows down the cavalry charge like a grass trimmer, riddling the soldiers with bullets, while the knights fall over from the pain of the kinetic force of the bullets. He rotates his body with the gun pressed against his hip, until the bullets crush itselves against a magic barrier, protecting the row of soldiers in front of the mountain he fell from. He glares at the barrier, and looks up now seeing several magic spells of varying elements fly towards him.

Misato turtles up inside the Gun Carriage and several spells explode against the vehicle, knocking it over on its side.

"Keep firing! Surround him!" A man yells as a barrage of arrows and magic bombard the vehicle. A platoon of soldiers and a few knights approach the vehicle.

The Gun Carriage disappears, behind it is a chariot with Misato behind it, peeking his head out before quickly diving back behind it.

"SHOOT!" The mages and archers fire again at the chariot, even shooting at the edges around it, preventing Misato from running out.

Higher up on the hill where Misato drove from, are the Church's Mages, some are fatigued from the constant spell casting to keep their foot soldiers covered.

"Sir, we can't keep this up much longer!" A female mage says.

"Alright, let the archers provide cover fire, but maintain the magic barriers!" The lead Mage orders and a group of eight mages in a circle continue to chant in unison.

"It will all be over soon…" The Lead mage says. Once this heretic is dead, they can return to his holiness and the Sword Van-

Boom!

But a blue light pierces right through the torso of the chanting mage, hitting the chest of another mage behind them and finally the skull of the third mage in a row. The blue light would continue, going through the trees and a bit of the mountain.

The lead Mage gasps.

"What-

A bullet goes through his skull mid yell, along with the rest of the mages.

Misato lets out a sigh of relief.

Earlier, when the enemies bombarded the Gun Carriage, Misato went through the walls of the carriage, hiding behind it outside of the vehicle. He used Carriage Pair Up to summon the Chariot, he casted an invisibility spell to sneak away to a tree further in the back. Then he casted an illusionary copy of himself behind the chariot, finally he made the Gun Carriage reappear as the Siderite rifle in his hands.

So while the archers and mages fired at the chariot, thinking he's behind it, Misato looked for the mages casting the magic barrier and fired Meteor Pierce, breaking their barrier, taking a row of them out. Immediately after the first shot, he transforms to a sniper rifle, using Deadeye, taking the rest of the mages out, disabling the magic barrier for good.

Misato transforms back to the PKM and fires at the archers, taking out some of them but the rest dive behind cover.

The Gun Hero sees movement at the corner of his eye, he turns on his flank seeing an agile knife wielder throw a knife, Misato leans to the side, it cuts a bit of his shoulder, and he flinches but fires back, shredding the bastard's head and chest.

He continues firing at the group of soldiers approaching from where the knife thrower came from.

Misato turns around seeing the enemies closing in, he turns around with the machine gun, the nearest knight flinches.

Click!

Reload!

Misato glances at the message before throwing the gun at the knight, it transforms into a cannon, crushing the knight with a crunch. Because while the Gun Misato wields weighs nothing to him, to anyone else, the actual weight of the gun is still a factor to be aware of.

A soldier flanks with their spear while another knight flanks on the other side with a large axe, the gun reappears on Misato's hand as the Chimera Goat Revolver.

"Ramming Shot!" The force of the bullet launches the soldier into a group behind him.

The force of the shot pushes Misato, avoiding the knight swinging their battle axe, Misato slides on his side in the dirt, the axe slams below his feet, he fires the sniper rifle, shattering their helmet, and they fall over, still alive but unconscious.

Another knight raises their sword overhead next to Misato.

Misato fires the Chimera Viper Pistol at their legs, the knight collapses on their knees and another bullet hits their shoulder, moving the sword arm back. Misato finishes off the battle axe wielder before they could recover, he then turns the gun into the sniper rifle, the long barrel lines up right into the sword knight's throat and fires.

Misato stands up now wielding the AK-47, firing the assault rifle at the soldiers, he sees movement at the corner of his eye on his left flank, another large group.

"Dual Wield!"

A second AK-47 appears on Misato's other hand, firing the guns at both groups. Preventing them from surrounding Misato, keeping the enemies in front of him and killing them.

Both guns click empty.

"Change Gun!"

Misato changes his guns, dualwielding silenced M4A1 firing both at full auto.

A rain of arrows falls and Misato hides inside the Gun Carriage again, the arrows snap harmlessly against the vehicle. But then he hears glass breaking and smells something.

Alcohol?

Suddenly the carriage is encased in fire, the fire isn't special, it can't actually burn the Gun Carriage but Misato suddenly coughs as smoke pours into the vehicle, he covers his mouth with his jacket.

They are smoking him out!

Boom!

Misato leaps through the flames in his magic cloak, using the Chimera Goat Revolver to launch himself out.

A row of eight knights charge spears first.

"Web shot!" Misato yells, firing a blast of webbing to stop the knights and tosses the burning alcohol soaked cloak aside.

"What is this?!" A knight yells struggling to escape the webbing.

Misato ejects the Ak-47 magazine with a flick of his wrist, and reloads. He takes out the soldiers with a few headshots, while stunning the mobile knights, breaking the crystal orbs on their chests. He dashes forward to a downed knight, placing the barrel into their eyehole and fires, killing the knight. He turns around, doing the same to the rest.

He then fires a sawed off shotgun spread at a few soldiers.

The Gun Hero runs to the side of the webbed knights, raising the Siderite Rifle in a crouch.

Misato fires the Eleventh Siderite bullet, piercing three knights in a row, the fourth knight cries out in pain as the bullet shatters their armor, and Misato fires the Tenth siderite bullet, killing the rest.

An arrow pierces Misato's left shoulder.

"FUCK!" Misato cries out, changing his gun to the Chimera Pistol, firing at the archer.

He then transforms his gun to the Tommy Gun, spraying the next group of enemies, whose knights raise their gauntlets in front of their chest and heads, tanking the hits with little issue while the soldiers hide behind them for protection.

Suddenly the bullets are crushed against another magic barrier protecting the platoon.

Misato turns his head to see a spear flying right at him.

He's too slow!

Clang!

The spear bounces off from the Shield Gun, which is somehow on the side of Misato's torso, not in his hand. The air in Misato's lung is pushed out as he hits the ground.

Misato tries to breath but gasps as a hail of arrows and magic spells fly above him, Misato quickly leaps and the Gun Carriage appears, tanking the hits

Glasses smash and the Gun Carriage is set on fire once again.

Damn it.

DAMN IT!

Misato yanks the arrow out of his shoulder and immediately drinks a health potion, he looks at the flaming window struggling to find the mages chanting the magic barrier.

Where are those pesky fuckers?! Misato coughs.

Can't breathe…

What can he do? There are too many of them! He is completely surrounded! Every time he comes out he could get impaled by arrows or by those soldiers, and everytime he goes inside the carriage, they cover it in fire!

He can fight but not forever!

Misato's vision turns hazy.

No…

Misato lays on the hot floor of the carriage, desperately trying to breathe the remaining clean air with some success. He lays on his back, pouring an SP potion down his throat.

"Teleport!"

Teleportation is jammed!

Misato cusses but coughs even more.

He has to move… But where…

Damn it he's running out of air…

Not again…

He…

Bump bump

Has…

Bump bump

To fight…

Bump bump

But…

Bump bump

How…?

Snap.

Misato hears something snap, like a lock with chains.

What?

The HUD flickers, making static noises, the mystery series appears in his vision.

Misato passes out.

Fitoria opens her eyes, gasping.

The Vassal Carriage's red gemstone glows.

It can't be…

It's been so many years, he died so long ago…

And yet…

This presence… This aura…

Could it t-truly be him…

Fitoria turns, facing the direction where Melomarc is, a tear falls out of her eye.

"F…F… F-Forrest?"

A girl with white hair and silver eyes traverses through the forest, wearing a brown cloak, shielding her body from the rain. On her hip, is a ball of yarn with a small purple gemstone.

She is S'yne Lokk, an Otherworldly Survivor of the Waves, and is perhaps, the Last Vassal Sewing Set Hero. Thanks to her weapon she managed to escape her world's destruction and she ended up here. Unfortunately, her time is limited, as the destruction of her homeworld left her weapon permanently damaged. She can feel it… The Sewing Set is dying. So with her time remaining she will do what she can to help other heroes. She would do anything to fight the Waves, even with her inevitable death…

At first she ended up near a capital nation, called Zeltoble, she fought for money to supply herself with necessities and gain levels to fight effectively. Then the Waves finally came to this world, but before she was on an escort mission away from Zeltoble, however, she heard rumors which suggested to her. A Hero killed the Wave Boss quickly.

S'yne tried to meet the person who did it, however the Hero likely used teleportation to leave almost immediately, so instead she gathered information about the Hero, the 'adventurer' who killed the boss. She learned that the Hero was likely a foreigner with black hair and golden eyes, some say he is an archer, or a mage. But she knew better, he is a Hero but which one?

It doesn't matter, this was the only lead she had to meet and help a Hero. But her trail quickly went cold and so S'yne continued her role as 'Murder Clown', fighting in the illegal tournaments, hoping to meet another Hero and help them, either directly or from the shadows.

Until one day, her weapon 'spoke' to her. Or rather, it urged her to travel, to go to Melomarc. Which made sense in hindsight, considering it was the Nation that decided to summon all the Cardinal Heroes in this world. Perhaps the Hero who slayed the Boss went back there.

During her travels in Melomarc, she has heard many things, most of which are confusing and concerning. The Cardinal Heroes do not match the description of the Hero who fought the Wave Boss in Zeltoble, so perhaps the Hero was a Vassal like her? Then there are the rumors, the Shield Hero is supposedly a rapist, however people have mentioned that recently the rumor is now weak due to the Shield Hero's actions protecting a Village during the 2nd Wave and the recording of the Nation's Princess interfering in the Duel between the Shield Hero and the Spear Hero. Then there was the same Princess cheating in a Race.

Then there was one particular tale she heard of, about a Foreign Adventurer in black, wielding strange metal pipes that shoot smoke and metal similar to a weapon that one country uses. A young man by the name of Misato. A young man who likely wields Guns, weapons that some Otherworld invaders used against her. This man was likely the person who defeated the boss in Zeltoble.

However Misato, this… Hero? Has been difficult to find. Which is good, that means otherworld invaders can't find him so easily, but on the other hand, it has made it incredibly difficult for her to find him. It also has been difficult to find all the other Heroes too.

With no good lead, S'yne followed the will of her weapon. However, having the weapon to guide her, which is damaged, doesn't seem like a good idea now…

Some days she would wake up only to find out that the Sewing Set is telling her to go in the exact opposite direction she was initially traveling to. Some days the Sewing Set wouldn't say anything. But then, the Sewing Set has urged her to travel East now and hasn't changed even after a few days.

She traveled quickly, not wanting to lose the trail again and now… She is here.

In a forest near a mountain, in the cold rain, for a reason she cannot understand from her weapon.

She sniffs, smelling something bitter.

Smoke?

S'yne looks up, seeing a puff of smoke in the distance near the edge of the mountain.

Oh no…

S'yne dashes through the forest and mud, quickly traversing the slippery path with the grace of a bunny.

The Otherworld Hero stops, seeing a group of dead bodies. She cautiously walks to the corpses, inspecting their wounds. Their bodies are riddled with holes, mostly gunshot wounds. Either from Misato, or… An otherworld invader.

S'yne clenches her scissors tightly, cautiously approaching the direction of the smoke. The deeper she went, the more bodies she saw.

She climbs over an unnatural looking hill, and flinches, seeing a large pile of dead bodies inside a small arena made of dirt. However on the other side is a large gap between the steep hills, and a trail of blood and mud with more bodies nearby it.

She walks through a path of corpses, some charred by fire which had been extinguished a long time ago from the rain.

S'yne frowns from the smell of burnt human flesh. It is a very unpleasant scent that she had never gotten used to despite her exposure to it before.

S'yne continues her observation, until she finally reaches a large opening in the forest, with several trees broken and splintered. She sees a single person standing, covered in blood, surrounded by a dozen corpses.

She raises her scissors at the person cautiously, uncertain of the person's allegiance and the fact that he is the only person alive, wearing no visible mark or symbol similar to the dead bodies. For some reason, he isn't speaking or reacting to her.

"W*ho ar* yo*?" She says, her voice turning static mid sentence.

No response, S'yne steps forward, confused by the lack of response.

S'yne gasps, seeing the yellow crystal gem on the gun in the young man's hand. He's a hero?

"H*llo?" S'yne asks, suddenly, the Gun's gemstone flashes blue and S'yne feels an incredible headache erupt.

Her vision turns dark.

S'yne sees a woman with pure white hair and blue eyes.

She is a Skywing too, S'yne realizes and gasps in surprise seeing the Sewing Set on the woman's back.

How are there two Sewing Sets?

In the woman's arms is a man in strange broken armor, his helmet is partially broken, revealing his white hair and a bright blue eye. Their head is bleeding, spilling over his eye.

"Who are you? Why did you save me?" The woman asks, grasping the man's head. The young man coughs, lifting a strange metallic box with red mist pouring out. "Save your energy!"

"Pl*ase… List*en"

S'yne gasps, this man is like her…

"P*otect'' The man coughs out blood, something made of glass breaks, the woman lifts his other hand. Both she and S'yne gasp, seeing the Gun's blue gemstone is cracked.

"Hang on!" The woman yells and the rest turns into static.

S'yne vision turns dark again.

The Otherworld Survivor gasps, rubbing her forehead.

What was that?

S'yne walks closer for a better look at the young bloodied man, he must be Misato, due to the weapon in his hands and his black hair. His clothing torn to shreds barely clinging onto his body, his toned muscular upper body, exposed to the rain, She looks at the familiar weapon in his hand, but the gemstone is yellow and looks undamaged.

She waves her hand in front of his face, but he doesn't react. S'yne's eyes widened.

He is unconscious!? But he is somehow still standing. The young man suddenly falls but S'yne catches him, keeping him up right. She remembers the state of the white haired man, the broken gemstone and his voice turning into static like her.

Somehow, these two are connected, but one thing is for certain, this person in her arms is a Hero. Perhaps, he is the reason why she is in this world, in this land. The reason why her weapon guided her here. Misato is a Hero who needs help.

Her help…

S'yne looks at the Gun.

"I w*ll protect h*m." S'yne promises.

A message appears in her vision.

You have been invited to join the Gun H**ro Party!

Accept

Decline

S'yne pauses but then presses 'Accept'.

Misato Morgan: Archer (Gun Hero) Level 84

S'yne Lokk: S3wing S3t H3r0 L3ve1 61

Surprisingly, his health is nearly maximum, how is his health nearly full but his clothing and armor is almost gone? That means he was hurt and yet he is fine…

S'yne reads Misato's title.

To think, Misato is an actual hero who wields a Gun but why is there parenthese around the title? And how is it that no one has heard of a Gun Hero in this world?

"Gwa…"

S'yne turns, raising her scissors, holding Misato protectively. Seeing three Filolials, glaring at her.

What do they want?

Something changes in her vision.

Misato Morgan: Archer (Gun Hero) Level 84

S'yne Lokk: S3wing S3t H3r0 L3ve1 61

Emerald: Adult Level 40

Black: Adult Level 42

Daisy: Adult Level 39

S'yne lowers her weapon. The Gun invited them, which means it trusts them, so shecan trust them.

"Kweh." The Green Filolial, Emerald, makes a noise, sitting down with their back towards S'yne. Understanding their intentions, the Vassal Hero gently places Misato on the filolial's back and she sits on them, keeping Misato steady.

The Filolials then walk in the direction where S'yne came from, away from the mountain. As they leave S'yne takes one last look at the battlefield, observing the aftermath of the fight. Mentally counting the corpses, S'yne feels a chill creep up her spine as she counts up to fifty.

Did Misato really take them all on, by himself?

He took on an army…

Alone?

Author Notes: Welcome to the end of this chapter. Thank you for making it this far. I hope you all liked Misato's main chapter. Hope the action was good and logical.

I made some changes in the last chapter, you can skip to the weapon suppression section, I nerfed it.

Anyway, as you all know, The Gun's main virtue/heroic trait is… Determination.

Ya it might be surprising or confusing to some, that's completely my fault. I didn't really do well with giving out hints of the Gun Hero's dominant trait in the previous chapters. So here's why Misato's main trait is Determination rather than intelligence, wisdom or insight and the other ones everyone guessed.

There were hints that Forrest did have survivor's guilt as well but still kept going to create this Anti-World Eater weapon, he kept working on a tree he would never see grow.

Misato died, but he died after a lot of people he cared about died, and he wakes in another world, revealing that the multiverse is real and yet he immediately recognizes what world he is in and starts to go to work. Yes he broke down and cried, Fitoria helped comfort him but ultimately he didn't become delusional, after grieving he got up and started making plans on how to unite the Heroes. What reason? For a new home, seeing that he pretty much has no one to go back to Earth for.

That is a very large contrast to the pampering and praising the other Cardinal Heroes got and how they behaved. Misato accepted the truth of his situation, the others didn't. It takes a lot to swallow the truth and try to move on.

The other heroes never explained if the NPCs they knew in the game were truly the same in ROTSH, like details of their appearance, personality and name. Meanwhile Misato had so many 'valid' reasons to delude himself into thinking that he was in a fictional world since he had much more accurate info to his advantage. But he didn't believe he was in an Anime or book. Misato didn't treat the people he is with are fake, he believed they were real.

Also, it's kind of fitting. For Misato to have the one Heroic trait that the others kind of lack. The will to persevere in spite of the odds, to have the resilience to keep going, to never give up, the strength of will, the power to reach their goal. The other heroes initially give up and become more in denial of the truth, they don't adapt and learn. Yes, Naofumi obviously has determination too, all the heroes have some mixed traits of heroism. But compared to Misato, Misato had the stronger determination right at the start and Naofumi had to get to it eventually.

I'm just gonna say it, this fanfic is basically a slow burn SI OC fix it fanfic with twists and surprises. There are a lot of events I feel like could have been prevented or better understood between several characters, especially when those situations are somewhat ideal with no annoying people interfering like Malty, like how Fitoria is so apathetic that I disliked how she treated Naofumi in the anime when it's only a tiny bit of his fault, which is little to absolutely nothing.

I rewatched the episode where Naofumi tells the Heroes off, while the Pope watched. Naofumi associates the Heroes to the Pope as one of the same, yes there is a connection if you squint but still… "You're one of the same, you're scum…" "But I made a promise, let's work together." Past Me was like: "He's right, he's so cool." Present Me is now like: Facepalming at Naofumi's statement. Especially in myportrayal of these Heroes. It's NOT bad writing, just a character flaw appreciated in the story and I hope he does grow past it and broaden his view.

Misato is a character who I project my own thoughts and opinions on certain problems. Something that Canon Naofumi lacks (Season 1 to maybe 3), Which is a broader mind, there are times I feel Naofumi was too narrow minded in certain situations. Some of them made sense for his actions and were reasonable. The others… Well you see the example in the paragraph right above this one. Then you saw Misato's actions in regards to communicating with the other Heroes, and having some success, where Naofumi would likely have struggled or failed to connect and understand. (Maybe? Anime Naofumi ruined my view of the character. Please clarify if I am missing something.)

Please do tell me IF I got Misato's japanese name in writing WRONG. Sorry if I offended people. I am not Japanese, I thought the story would be interesting to have a main character who is a Self Insert American otaku but who is also Japanese, so he has some knowledge of Japanese culture from his parents but still acts different from the other Heroes since he grew up in the US. The Self Insert aspect is that I mostly know the ROTSH story from the anime, some of the manga, and fandom wiki. Also Misato's personality, at least in the most ideal mindsets… This fanfic isn't realistic in psychological aspects.

For his name I used this website called Japanese Name Info. It's where I looked up boy names for Misato and thought, "Hey, that's a pretty cool name and it's fitting considering what he will do when I write my fanfic. Misato Morgan has a nice ring to it."

So, about my plans for this fanfic…

I admit I don't really have a lot of plans in regard to the Arcs beyond Season 1, not even up to Cal Mira. Of course, I'm planning a few more chapters after Malty's trial but ultimately this main arc is going to end before Cal Mira.

Recently, I have been experiencing some burn out from this fanfic, the speed and motivation to write and update this fanfic has diminished from when I began this fanfic. Especially with a job. I guess if it comes down to it, once I end my "Season 1" Arc. I would either slowly continue or if I really don't see myself continuing the story I guess I would make various short stories of certain major events happening later in the future, skipping and summarizing many parts. But ideally still have some decent build up to certain conflicts.

There are a lot of things I want to do far in the future, but I am struggling on making the bridge to reach those certain parts of the story I dream about, even now in "Season 1". So, the Sequel might be a less detailed and shorter Fix it fanfic. I want Misato to become the Gun Katana Hero, that's right it's official! Stop reccomending me about it. Misato WILL be the Katana Hero. Sorry Raphtalia, but Misato will be the one to wield the Katana! How and when is the mystery for you my dear readers!

There are also a bunch of other fanfics I want to write but find myself still thinking about The Gun Hero's Arrival and I want to move on without any loose unfinished project.

(X)

So, question, why is it that you decided to follow my fanfic? What is it that hooked you to my story? Please put it in the review or PM me about it.

Also, should I change the title of this fanfic to:

"The Insightful Gun Hero"?

The reason why I originally called this, "The Gun Hero's Arrival" was because I couldn't come up with a cooler name. With how the story has gone, I think the new title would make more sense. The poll should be up soon.
