Chapter 22: Iron Jawed Empress

I loved Iron Jawed Angels in Middle and high school. Still have the DVD. Starfire is no feminist by far. Even Blackfire who is the Femme Fatale of this series. She also has beef with a lot of folks so…this has an interesting "join me luke while we rule the galaxy vibe." Starfire turned her down to rule side by side once, so what comes next?

"I always was the better fighter."

From the main room in light recovery, down the hall Starfire followed the voice of a dark haired master manipulator from her childhood. The darkness in her heart was there, yet Starfire saw only loneliness long ago and fell into the trap of Blackfire's plan to overthrow the king and queen while Kori became her right hand. She hated the political field and how weak her people had been against the earlier Drenthax invasion. More militaristic in stance, she took to her grandfather's ideals of conquest and keeping a secular, strong nation which…made some to next to no sense at all. Starfore couldn't have been a warrior as much as Blackfirr claimed. She spoke about how she outfitted a sky captain from the "Horoton Nebula" and the Sentari moons had crystals she'd seen as big as your fist.

That was a story for the ages in her mind, yet Robin got the feeling like Cy and Raven that there was more to those eyes than met their princess's tale of valiant heroics. Kori was quick to become enthralled and Bb looked to have a crush until she outright said "just friends" to the little green toad.

"Robin. We are almost evenly matched in the fight. I liked how your quick thinking took out that drone scout - bot." She praised the spiky haired teen. Starfire gritted her fists as a deep concern bled through her features.

"Robin is…very shy!" She started and blocked the boy a minute to speak to him in the other room. "You must not let my sister's words fool you. She is a ruthless criminal that almost enslaved half of the Tamaranean royal family. Tell me, do you believe her stories, friend Robin?"

"I, don't know. But she's here now and that's all that matters "

"But – she is not who she appears-

"Is our girl Starfire, kinda jealous?" Bb snickered with a grin at the two. "Oh, no no! I am, mostly the worried for friends Robin's….tendencies to confuse events! You se, he is of the trauma case and we are healing together."

Robin gawked at the words and for a reason other, he spoke up. "I'm not a kid with that many problems. Not like him, he's assuming you are not being real here!"

"I'M WHAT??"

"Cool it, you bozos. Starfire?? I never knew you were so popular as a commoner here!"

Blackfire's remark made Starfire fly up and hit her head into the ceiling – taken by surprise by the enemy. "I – I am doing no such thing! You make assumptions of my life on Earth too early, sister. You do not understand!"

The red headed princess barreled out of the room with her sobs leaving the Titans convinced of one thing. Blackfire had a history and Star didn't want to talk about what really went on. ( Recall, they'll not know about the past these two share or their animosity because it is private business. Not even Robin knows. Only Slade and Star might as well.) A princess of earth she was not. Kori wept along as Robin didn't bother to get to follow. Blackfire pulled him over as he didn't have a chance to change his mind.

"Wanna spar in the gym with me? I'm sure she won't mind If I borrow you for a partner." Her smile and passion to kill was impressive. Robin swallowed and transfixed, didn't mind Raven peeking from her angle at how miserable the boy wonder really was with the Titan's new houseguest.

Starfire was away. They could talk, so both dropped their false monikers.

"Right….so, did the mastermind talk to you? I mean, you pushed for me to come here as much as my dumb sibling. She is pretty mad." Looking at her hands as if they were glowing already, Blackfire waited for Robin to respond. "She is, but only you both seem to know why. She wanted you to come here, but I think it was more than just to get close. To keep an eye –

"Time's up." Blackfire clapped her hands together and soon, they took to their titles while learning more about the other. "Starfire was not one to be brave in our classes with the teachers of Okaara. The warriors there favored my tenacious behavior. At times." The princess flipped Robin over into a ball – right into a stack of weights on the wall of the gym. "Hyaa!" She flung him then looked up with a hand to her hip before falling it a "strike." Like he was some ball hitting a bunch of pins. Robin winced as she moved quickly to massage his shoulders and help him up, all before a quiet Starfire walked past them.

"R…Robin and….my sister? You are too the close! He will –

"You are so touchy about us! He's adorable and I was showing, Robin was it? I was showing him how our family learned to fight."

Kori stomped in as her feet reached the air right with emerald eyes glaring. Her anger more so twisted around one factor. Robin could be destroyed by the person who wished to harm this earth. She grabbed Robin's arm and Blackfire latched out at the same time. Robin yelled as the two would have spilled his guts onto the clean gym mats.

"Typical perfect Koriand'r! Always getting what YOU want while I have to fight for everything ! You owe me for helping you stay out of danger at the waterfront! You should let him go already, he's not your plaything!!"

"THAT is the very wrong, sister dear…. Robin does not wish to go be a man who is handled so rudely by a loud, unapologetic conqueror who lost the throne to a boy younger than both of us combined!!"

" LET…GO!!"

The boy wonder's scream was loud enough, that Cy had his ear on the comm that fell out of Robin's pocket. The signal went and he instantly was next; Cy only though, not BB, came running.

However, Raven was the very first one to float through the door and pull the two feuding siblings apart before s travesty could occur. "THIS IS NOT OK." She shot at the alien sisters as Blackfire tugged free due to being let go. "I had no ill intent. That …MORBLIK has an unhealthy attachment. To this planet. It is disgusting! Utterly shameful, Starfire. I thought she was loyal to her people. Not this…" Blackfire held her tongue. "I came to see about closing one door to open another." The dark-haired princess let her sister's swallowed regrets swallow her up. "Blackfire…you have nothing to feel s -

"I guess I am neither wanted here or back on Tamaran. Thank you, for making me feel at peace for once…Koriand'r."

"Sister!" Blackfire left while Kori went to chase her out to the roof. The two flew up to where the moon was on high. Blackfire had her back to the red headed sister. Her sister, the one she was about to defeat once again.

"My stat wasn't meant to be. You have a lovely little boy toy in your collection."

"He is, going through… the pains of the heart. Robin cannot overcome his fears on his own." Starfire shook her head.

"Why." Blackfire never batted an eye on the question. "Why does he need you to save himself the trouble of being happy? He's a human being on this planet. You do not own him. You are not as responsible…. but maybe, you are angry at me. I could change your mind. Like old –

"I will not buy any more of your deals or…or plans. Your plans are…." Foorlthfal! Glora- nilstitc!"

Blackfire gasped at the expletives and raised a hand up, to redirect only a finger. "You should have never spoken to me at all. This is your time to do time for your crimes…of letting me down. How weak ! How utterly…. incompetent... Seize her!!"

Robin rose groggily as his head pounded, his body in a state of panic. He heard a scream and knew he had no time left.

Then, another scream? Blackfire??

"They're both on the roof!" BB panted over and with his team, they went after two. No. Three to four of the same types of strangely identical probes. The teens screaming in the clouds were both Starfire and Blackfire. The dark haired Empress fought well, until one ended up knocking her out with a hit to the noggin.

" SISTER! NO!" Starfire fought bravely, yet the probes were under some main control. A control that actually was made aware, by an individual with a lot riding on getting rid of only one alien maid.

Blackfire was doing as she was expected. The bot replication were real. The one to have gotten the beacon had sent two more. Slade had control of two, and he was about to crack the code on number…

Robin swung in on a grappler and took off atop the darned machine to set it lower. He used his gloves' magnets to keep him where he would not fall into the bay. Slade watched, yst his mic went up to alert the boy via comm if he could. Right in his suit. (Recall, it is hidden since they never found a wore on him. Injectable control.)

~ Apprentice. You are interfering with the wrong mission. Abort now . Get off of that drone at once. You are being –

"Neither of them said they wanted to fail…well, I'm supposed to stop the enemy. That's you, right? This will all work out."

~ WAIT! ABORT, NOW. ROBIN ! ~

Slade slammed a palm down into his control panel, not to break it but to get out his frustration. That kid needed to stop improving and listen. He was on thin ice if he failed. "Fine. Show me what you can do to stop them from leaving this planet... not that it matters who wins." He sighed, tension slowly melting away. "Wintergreen. Dragonwell. Stat. I need a refreshing cup before my next session with my, apprentice. He will be back…" Slade seethed under his masked lip. "He will always come back to me. Won't you, dear boy?"

Robin didn't know why he'd done it. The role. It felt so, real to him that if he tried to sit and do nothing…. he'd lose. Totally lose his image of what a hero was supposed to do. Raven was not far behind and Bb was pecking at the back of one probe as well.

Cy was trying to hack in, but instead he opened for a jet feature in his armored body. "The probes are taking …whoa…. a ship?"

"A…"

"Police!" Starfire gasped. "Sister? Where are you-

"IN THE NAME OF THE GALACTIC quadrant; as enforcement agents of the planetary field of the Sentari moons… you are all hereby, under arrest!"

So, who was the iron Jawed Empress in this you ask? Both, metaphorically but mostly Blackfire. Starfire has to stand up for herself so the two really fighting over their own disagreements while using Robin as a scapegoat sort of or a crutch to that event, is Blackfire's cover.
