Chapter 38: Tick Tock Tango – It Takes Only, You

/

Mainly brought on by my last one shot. Tailored to suit the plot here. Scooby and the gang are after the crooked in..

Their own tower??

Finding out…. now!

/

Slade sat back and watched as the locked door to the security room in the tower made him feel secure; the reason, had to be a fault of his ego. Surely, that was the Titans' first though.

Monitor the area and split into groups.

Report any findings to other teammates.

Meet up to nab the criminal once he is identified and immobilized.

Bring him to jail. Lock his ass away for good.

The day is saved.

Slade rolled his eyes. Into his face mask's mic, he wondered in a mutter.

"What do I do now…"

(Important here!!)

/

Dick stayed by Raven as she held her own arm, healing it in a soft white light. In her gaze over once she was done, she stared at him. "Are, you, ok?"

It was the first time anyone had asked that in a while since his start as a hero. A fake one, but Slade had said to careful. To not let her get inside his head.

Dick swallowed and didn't feel safe on either platform.

"No. Truth is, I don't know what he really wants from me by coming here. He didn't look right, even his face was fixed to look like someone else. I hated that he could get inside my mind, twist everything to sound, right…is he wrong though? Am I still a hero like you guys?"

"Robin." Cy came round the corner and called the heroes to collect in the main room.

"No scents. Nothing. I though he smelled weird, but it was rusty. Is it just how much of a robot he was?" Bb sat on the sofa as Cy gave him an unwelcoming answer. "We can't be so careful right now, Bb. This is serious. If the guy really is the same dude who hurt Robin like that before he even got here, he's been a criminal before we had Richie put on the mask. I don't even know if the league should step in on this. We can try to book em, but –

~ Giving up the ghost, Cyborg? Team captain and cold feet; not a great combination in my book. ~ Starfire gasped and brought a hand up to big screen by the windows overlooking the shore. Up top, Slade's voice was an echo around the room. "He…he hacked… how did you mess with my systems so quick???"

~ Trade secret. ~ Grinned the monster over the intercom until his masked face cane into view onto it. ~ Let's have a little test. If you pass it, I'll depart. Pick my wounds again fir another defeat. If you lose…the Titans are over, and the boy comes back to my side. No questions asked. ~

"We'll never agree to that proposal." Growled Raven under her breath. "The courts already issued Robin as under the custody of us. You can't get in the way of the law so easily this time."

She. Would be a proper threat in due time.

Slade smirked, turning to the boy wonder. ~ We'll debate in that time a winner is declared. For now; the rules will be to disarm and disable microscopic disruptors placed within the tower. If you can't take them out within less than one hour – I'll even throw in fifteen extra minutes so I can watch you fail…then the tower will have an accident you won't be capable of patching up. It goes, or else you'll have me in cuffs by the end of this round. Any, other questions? ~

"Yeah, just…you would have to hint to us. Something." Robin looked Slade dead in the eye. "It's why you left the mask at the scene of Fixit's murder. Or the emblem with that symbol when we saved the city from those two brothers. And from you."

~ Very perceptive. I must add that you've at least learned something useful while outside of my watch. Despite these shortcomings, yes. I have red lights that will blink to direct you –

"Sounds like a big fat rat trap ta me!" Grumbled. "How can we say you won't try to use our tower against us??"

~ I'm only testing your accuracy. I have no need to kill you off. I'm a strategis. It's just as Richie, said. Not a serial attacker. Not my style. ~

"You did not think the so when the brothers took many homes with them by their powers being not in their control? Or even –

~ Then, let's make this interesting~ Slade snapped his fingers as absolute darkness took hold. ~ The red lights will lead the way. Once they go completely green, you'll have passed one obstacle. Anything at all, you can head back here and I might listen to give you a pep talk…Good luck, and I hope for your sake you were prepared beforehand to defend yourselves from any new criminals- ones that enjoy the hunt…~

/

"You're…your dad's replacement is insane, dude!" Bb groaned and fell onto his turtle belly. "Define, loco…he's like the ultimate picture of bad guy – ness. Why didn't you tell us?"

"I, thought he wasn't going to go this far! It's not my fault!" Shouted the boy wonder. "I warned you in the beginning that he would hunt ME down, and now YOU'RE all complaining –

"Only Beastboy is." Raven deadpanned. "We want him out as much as you do."

"And we can do this task as long as…"

Starfire nearly jumped. It seemed to be so.

The doors slipped back as five ways out, opened to the teens. Fives ways to further separate them, appearing. Richard didn't feel like this was acting anymore. His body moved forwards to the first door.

"See you at the finish…"

His door shut as the red lights like Slade said, were fairy lights to the very first obstacle. Whatever a disruptor was, it sounded dangerous from the beginning to its end. Robin walked, feet heavy and waiting on no one or anything to give him a sign.

Just, a few lights along the path to lead him further into the dark of his last home. Very last real…and somehow, he nearly wanted to turn back. That was, until his ears buzzed. ~ Apprentice. I'm going to give you the coordinates to the first disruptor. It's only a few more feet ahead. ~

Slade….in the – no spoiling it! Notice that Slade wasn't present for most of his encounters. The robots were. Any pointers on that? Find out!
