Bell sat at a table and let out a relaxed hum, around him were other customers enjoying another day of the city.
It had been a few days since they arrived in Orario and had successfully become an official resident as a member of a newly formed Familia. If he could see his younger self, he would be chuckling seeing the excited look of his younger version having the thoughts of living in the city known to be the center of the world, and the birthplace of heroes.
He was alone at the Hostess of Fertility as his goddess and new Familia member went to a festival called 'Monsterphilia'. He was offered to join but he simply declined it saying it would be great if both had some time alone to get to know each other.
'Hmm, the Soma Familia are not very good at hiding their secrets.' He thought as he currently held a list of records he had written down about the Soma Familia and their activities.
As of right now, he was finding difficulties as he analyzed the information about the Familia. It was not because it was hard to find anything illegal about them but because he had found so many illegal activities ranging from stealing to smuggling items from outside Orario that made it harder to connect them to Evilus if they were associated with them.
"Here is your order sir."
When a soft tone entered his ears, he slowly looked at the waitress who had delivered a cup of freshly made coffee to his table. His eyes widened in surprise seeing a blond-haired elf with blue eyes wearing the pub's uniform, the reason for his surprise was not because the elf was beautiful like a fairy but because Bell knew the identity of the girl...
However, the elf in front of him was very different from the illustration and the information he had read, such as her blond hair tied up in a bun and bangs covering her right eye. Nonetheless, he could still identify the girl's identity by the aura that she was giving off. It was like a fierce yet beautiful aura as if she was a fairy warrior who fought villains to uphold justice like the stories he had read.
"Excuse me miss…aren't you 'Gale Wind' of the Astraea Familia?" He asks earning a slightly surprised elf's attention.
"Ah yes, how you noticed?" asked the Elf waitress curious about how the boy noticed her disguise. Not even the veteran adventurers had ever noticed that it was her.
"Well…" Bell shied out for a moment realizing if it was okay to tell her. "It's the aura you are giving off, it is like a cold yet warm air as if you are a knight to protect those from evil itself." He explains with sincerity and gentleness in his tone. "Plus, there was a dagger hidden on your sleeve and I noticed that."
"Thank you for the compliment, sir." The Elf bowed. "You have a very good eye for you to notice it."
The boy just scratched his head and let out a smile. "Haha, I was trained at a young age but being complimented by a person such as yourself, shows the fruit of my labors."
Ryuu could see the honesty of what the boy was saying and let out a small smile. "If I may ask dear customer, may I know your name?"
"Ah, where are my manners, my name is Bell Cranel, and I'm a new adventurer here alongside my Familia." He stood up and bowed. "But you can call me Bell."
The Elf nodded. "Nice to meet you Bell, you may already know, but my name is Ryuu Lion, you can call me by my first name as well."
"If I may ask, Ryuu, why are you here working in the pub? I heard the Astraea Familia will be patrolling at the festival alongside the Ganesha Familia."
"I'm currently helping a friend who is on leave today." She explained her reason. "And it's true, me and my Familia would be patrolling the festival later. I'm just waiting for my captain to pick me up."
Bell returned to his seat and took a sip of his coffee. "Well, I wish you luck in your task, sorry for prolonging our conversation."
"Then I'll take my leave." With those words, Ryuu left and returned to her duty.
Bell kept a neutral expression, but on the inside, Bell was excitedly jumping like a kid having to talk to one of the well-known heroes of Orario. He soon shook off that thought and continued drinking and reading the paper he had.
A few minutes later.
A red-haired girl with green eyes suddenly opened the door of the pub. Bell noticed the newcomer and saw it was the captain of the Astraea, Alise Lovell, who was waving in the direction of where Ryuu was and who was now wearing her adventurer outfit.
"Ryuu, hurry up everyone's waiting!" she excitedly shouted.
At that moment Bell stood up and paid for his drink before hiding the paper about the Soma Familia in his pocket and stopped the two before they left.
"Can I join as well?"
Alise looked at him for a moment before realizing who he was. "Wait, you're that guy, I almost didn't recognize you." She said in surprise.
What the girl said was true, he was not currently wearing his uniform right now and wore a white sleeve polo, a vest at the top, and black pants and shoes.
"Do you guys know each other?" Ryuu asked surprised that the boy and her captain knew each other.
"Yes, I met her at the guild when I registered my Familia." He said hiding the whole truth. "But if it's Okay if I join in your patrols. I'll not bother you guys."
"Are you sure?" this time it was Alise turn to ask the question.
"Yes, and don't worry about me, I brought my weapon just in case." He said revealing a sheathed katana that was attached to his waist.
"Well then let's go!" she said optimistically before leaving the two behind.
"She's an energetic person."
"Yes, yes she is." Answered Ryuu with a deadpan expression.
The two then left to follow the red-haired girl.
In the city street, three girls were waiting impatiently for their companions.
"Why are they taking so long." Said a black-haired far-eastern woman, her scowl visible as she impatiently tapped her foot on the ground.
"Calm down, Kaguya." Said a pink-haired pallum who only shrugged at the far eastern woman named Kaguya.
"Shut up, Lyra!"
Before they could criticize each other more, the third member of their group, a tanned beastwoman, shifted her head as she heard the familiar steps of their companions coming in their direction with the addition of a third person following them.
"They're here." Said the tanned girl prompting the two girls to look in the direction.
Before Kaguya could berate them for being late, both quickly saw an unknown young boy who followed their captain and elf. The more they got closer they noticed the boy was wearing clothes similar to a waiter's outfit, the only thing that distinguished him from that was the sheathed katana visible on his waist. Other than his clothes, the boy's appearance was similar to a rabbit with his white hair and red eyes, yet he showed an air of an experienced adventurer even though he looked younger than them.
"Hai, sorry we're late," Alise said ignoring the annoyed look from the far-eastern woman.
"Took you long enough…who's he? Is he from Ganesha?" she then pointed at Bell who only showed a neutral expression and a calm smile.
This time Alise thought of an answer as she recalled that they were not allowed to give any information about the young boy's organization. Seeing the small pause of the optimistic red-haired, Bell quickly intervened.
"My apologies, my name is Bell Cranel, unfortunately, I'm not a member of the Ganesha Familia and just happened to join in your patrols at the festival, hoping I can reunite with my Familia." He bowed earning a slightly surprised Kaguya from his way of manners.
"Then why don't you just ask the guards stationed there if they saw your Familia?" This time, the pink-haired pallum asked, a little suspicious about the boy as she noticed her captain's sudden pause earlier.
'Pink-hair…she must be Lyra, Astraea Familia's tactician, the far eastern woman…Gojouno Kaguya, well-known for her beauty, has a unique personality, and the tanned beastwoman…Neze Rankett… they are one of the ones who fought Mother Alfia years ago, I should be careful with my words then.' He thought as he analyzed the three Astraea Familia members from the stories his uncles once told.
Bell showed a small smile and awkwardly chuckled. "Haa, well you see I'm kinda new to Orario and I'm not very good at direction, so I ask Miss Lovell here if I'm allowed to join you guys to know the street better hehe."
What he had said was true, throughout his life until now he always stayed in the village he had lived in and rarely went out of the village. The only things he could recall being outside of his village were only a few instances such as the headquarters of the hidden Order stationed nearby and the forest where he had trained.
Seeing the boy's expression the pink-haired pallum only nodded but was still suspicious about him. "All right as long you don't do something bad."
"Got it." Bell then bowed
Seeing the conversation ended up in a good term, Alise clapped her hand loudly earning all the attention to her.
"All right if everyone is ready, let's go." She then runs off once more prompting the rest to sigh before following the red-haired.
Bell let out a chuckle before taking a few steps to follow them. However, a sudden shock went up through his body as he widened his eyes as if he saw something shocking.
"Bell, are you all right?" Asked a worried Ryuu who saw his sudden pause.
Bell only turns to her showing her a reassuring smile. "I'm just excited to join the famous Astraea Familia."
The elf only nodded. The young commander then continued walking…this time, his hand was near his katana and his eyes were focused as if he was waiting for something to happen.
Through the lively crowds near the coliseum, two individual were enjoying their time, one was a short twin-tailed goddess buying a snack from a nearby potato stand, and the other was a girl with a short brown and wearing a white shirt, a sleeve brown jacket covering it, a blue bow wrapped around her waist, and black slacks and shoes. In her hands were two cotton candy sticks and a bunch of stuffed animals filled into two bags that were on her shoulders.
She let out a weary smile at the short goddess antics and could not help but ask, "Hmm, Lady Hestia, I think we should rest for a while. I'm afraid if we waste too much money, there will be nothing left in the renovation payment at the church…"
At those words, Hestia stopped and scratched her head in embarrassment. "Hehe, sorry it's my first time going to Orario and I heard lots of stories about the city and its wonders, and I got carried away."
"It's alright Lady Hestia, it's my first time as well in Orario, and gotta say it's quite nice." Jean smiled making the goddess smile at those words.
After a few steps, they found a bench and decided to sit there to rest for a bit. Both watch the people passing by them with their smiles visible on their faces. Hestia smiled at the crowd and let out a happy hum, Jean the other hand looked at the sky contemplating the events for the past days since she had joined the Hestia Familia.
They were now officially registered as an exploration-type Familia and had already found a base for them from a friend of her goddess. Although renovating the abandoned church would take a while, when it is finished it would be a proper Familia home.
"Hmm, Lady Hestia can I ask a question?" she then looked at the goddess as she got curious about something.
"Ask away."
"I've been a guard for the hidden Order for quite a while now, but only recently about you and Commander Bell from rumors. How did you guys become one of the Higher Ups with only a single member?"
Hestia touched her chin for a while as she recalled the first time she met Bell leading to them becoming the youngest Faction at the Hidden Order.
"Well it was about a year ago now, when I descended to the lower world, I landed in a forest and met Bell there who was surprised to see me. After that, I met old acquaintances of mine leading me to know the Order. I don't know if it was luck or not but I was recommended to get the position while Bell voluntarily joined my Familia with permission from his old Familia of course." Hestia said.
"But why is Commander Bell the only member before I joined?"
"Well, actually we have more members in our Faction but in the different Familia, they're more like reserve members for the Order."
"Oh, I see." Jean nodded at those.
"How about you, how did you keep your identity for two years?"
"Hehe, Let's just say I'm good at disguising, but there was one guard who saw through my disguise, but he was transferred to another location a few months ago." She then recalled the one guard who had seen through her disguise and let out a small blush.
Seeing a small blush from the girl, Hestia could not help but let out a grin. "Oh~, I see." She teased.
Jean's face got redder and frantically waved her hands. "No-no, It wasn't like that…but anyways too bad Commander Bell did not come with us, he would've loved to see this," she denied and tried to change the conversation.
Hestia laughed at that but complied nonetheless. "Yeah he would be jumping for joy but knowing him he would easily get lost through the crowd."
"Is he that bad at directions?"
"Yep, it was lucky he did not get lost when we were in the inn, but any other day he would get lost like a puppy." Jean chuckled at her words making Hestia let out a small laugh. "Well we should go now, I heard they're about to start the show in the coliseum if we hurry we could buy some tickets."
Jean let out a sweatdropped at that and before she could say anything, the short goddess ran toward the entrances of the coliseum. This made Jean let out a sigh before carrying the stuff she was holding the two bags and followed Hestia. She was unaware as a certain goddess stared at her through a crowd while a smile was visible on her pretty face.
"Oh my~, what a pretty soul."
"Wow, I heard Orario is a sight to behold, but seeing it in person, they were not exaggerating…" Bell stated looking at the stands and shops full of people walking by.
"Right!, Orario had improved since the Dark Age seven years ago," Alise said who had intentionally fallen behind to speak with Bell while Ryuu joined the others in front.
"Hmm, yes, without you guys Orario would have fallen due to our negligence back then, I only hope we would be enough to atone for our mistakes." Bell formally apologizes for the Order's mistake during that period.
Alise only smiled at that. "No worries, as long we are still around, we will bring justice to those who would harm the innocent." She said while pumping her arm in the air making Bell chuckle at her antics.
On the outside Bell was relaxed and enjoying his time talking to the captain of the Astraea Familia. However, deep inside his thoughts, he was on high alert as his body kept signaling that something bad was about to happen. He instinctively holds his katana ready to attack at any moment.
"Tione, Tiona, and Lefiya good to see you guys here!"
Bell returned from his thoughts when Alise suddenly shouted and excitedly ran to greet the three women who showed up while the rest followed suit. When Bell lifts his head to see, he instantly recognizes them as members of the Loki Familia and one of the ones from that night…
Bell quickly tried to look away as memories from that night resurfaced prompting him to blush like a tomato remembering what he did. For once deep inside, he wished that they would not recognize him as he distanced himself from them by a few meters.
"Hm? Wait you're that guy from that night!"
Unfortunately for the young Commander, he was easily identified by the short-haired Amazon who he recalled asked the question about the deal he made between Finn, Loki, and the other major Familias.
"Good day, Hiyrute sisters, and Miss Thousand Elf." Nonetheless, Bell bowed in greeting trying to hide his embarrassed face.
"Y-you're that human who-"
"P-please forget what happened that night." Bell cuts off the orange-haired with a red-blushed face visible on his cheeks.
"Eh?"
Everyone including the members of the Astraea Familia was surprised to see the white-haired blushed like a cute rabbit trying to hide his stash of carrots from those who would take it from him. After a while, the young boy returned to his neutral expression and simply smiled and bowed again while his hand was on his chest.
"I sincerely apologize for what I did that night, it was rude of me to attack one of your members and…the other two." He then straightened and reached his hand to the girls "I would like to start again, my name is Bell Cranel, Captain of the Hestia Familia, and it is nice to meet you members of the Loki Familia."
Both Amazons and Elf sweatdropped at the boy's manner but nodded at the boy.
"It is fine it was kinda funny that you knocked out Bete that night, I'm Tiona Hiyrute, it's nice to meet you." The short-haired Amazon then shakes Bell's hand. "And this is my sister Tione, and Elf over there is Lefiya Veridis." She then pointed at the other Amazon and the Elf.
Bell let out a smile and chuckled a little. "I know who you guys are, I heard stories of fame Familias of Orario. Heroes who protected the people and the current strongest of the city. It is an Honor being in your present."
'Too formal'
All the girls thought at Bell's comment as each let out an awkward smile, while others mostly the two elves nodded seeing his formality
"But I question, why are you guys here?"
"Oh…well we're taking some rest from the Dungeon and we decided to go to see Monsterphilia," Tiona explained with her usual charismatic voice.
"Is that so…" Bell replied keeping his neutral smile.
"Yep, although the monsters they capture are kind of lame, I want them to tame something like a dragon or something big."
"Haha, Let me guess, you always get hit on the head by your sister," Bell said making Tiona widen in surprise at his statement
"Yes! How did you know that?"
Bell only pointed his finger at the long-haired Amazon who was cringing at Tiona's statement earlier at the event. The bubbly Amazon only scratched her head and let out a goofy laugh.
"But I do understand what you're saying, it would be amazing to see them taming dragons like the story where a boy trained a dragon to protect his village."
In those words, Tiona's eyes sparkled as she got closer to Bell's face. "You read that story as well?"
The boy took a step back a little bit before answering. "Yes, I have read Heroes stories since I was young, my personal favorite is the story Argonaut."
"Me too!, what's your favorite part of the story?"
"It's the part where Argonaut tried to run away from the guards while trying to save Orna the storyteller from the kingdom."
"I hadn't-"
"AHEM!"
Unfortunately, their conversation was cut short when the long-haired Amazon and the oriental woman coughed loudly to stop their conversation. Tiona simply scratched her head once more and let out a giggle, while Bell on the other hand kept his expression but forgot about their presence he was too engrossed to talk about Heroes stories.
"Bell correct? You should let them be on their business, Am I correct Tione?" Kaguya said looking at Tione who was now holding her sister.
"Yes, we should go now, sorry for interrupting your patrol Kaguya."
"No worries." She said showing a calm smile while her eyes were closed."
Tiona who managed to escape from her sister's grasp only waved her goodbyes as well.
"Well, it was nice meeting you…Bell, let's talk again about Heroes." she then turned and walked away in the other direction.
"Yes it was n-"
Unfortunately, he could not finish his words as a shock felt throughout his body as his ears picked up a cracking noise. Without hesitation, he ran off toward the Loki Familia and pushed the orange-haired Elf.
"Look Out!" after that a green tendril suddenly sprouted from the ground as two Flower-like monsters appeared earing all to those who were in the area to be alert.
Many citizens let out panic screams while the adventures were preparing to engage the monster. The young commander stared at the plan monsters his eyes focused as if only one thought was in his mind.
"Is this a part of the Festival?" he said in pure curiosity.
