Back at the time where children were becoming nations, the little Rashka was looking around the desolated city.
"No, stop! Leave me alone" she hears a girl yell behind a pole. Bulgaria is there too, pulling the unfortunate city.
"Stop pulling away. I've beaten you. You are my property now" he says straining. The poor girl in mismatched attire tries her hardest to pull away, but his grip on her hand is too strong.
"Hey!" Rashka shouts, staring at him menacingly. "Am I interrupting something?"
The teens turn to her startled. Naisus grabs an opportunity, kicks him in the groin and runs to hide.
Squatting behind a bunch of pillars, she hears Rashka calling: "It's okay it's just me."
The hidden girl hears her footsteps close, as she speaks again: "Come out. I promise I won't hurt you."
Naisus scoffs: "That's what they all say."
"Huh?"
"I said, that's what they all say!" she repeats. "You're gonna kill me or make me part of you. Just like all the other brutes around this place."
Rashka sighs. "Come on, friend. Yes, I did plan to make you a part of me."
"I knew it."
"However, if you accept, I promise that I will keep the other brutes away. You will no longer have trouble with Bulgaria and the likes. And I will not make you do things you are not comfortable with. Deal?"
The girlier representation ponders for a bit. "Hmm, fine. But only if you promise."
"I do from the bottom of my heart" Rashka replies.
The teen gets out from her hiding. Brushing the dust away, they shake hands.
"Great, now come with me. My boss has big plans and he plans to..."
"Hey, quit stealing my cities" Bulgaria yells grabbing his sword.
Naisus moves away as Rashka grabs her weapon. Still, there is no need for it. Her fist does the job, smacking his directly in the nose. The boy falls down, screaming in pain as blood drips from his nostrils.
"You do something like this again and I am going to bash your head in" Rashka says through her teeth before taking Naisus by the hand. Before walking away, the city sticks her tongue out.
The grownup and grumpier Niš yells "You promised!" pointing furious at her cube-sitting country.
"Not this again" Serbia mumbles from her cubical throne.
"While I was still under Bulgarian rule, you came and pushed him away and do you remember what you said? You said, come with me and I will treat you better than that dork ever would. Be a faithful city and I will let you live your life and protect you from unwanted advances!"
"Yes, I remember! How can I forget when it was one of the oldest promises I made!" she yells back.
"You gave me your word!" the personification of the city shouts determined. "We shook on it and I agreed to play a hostess at that stupid welcoming party!"
Serbia groans, pondering. "I understand you are upset but what do you expect me to do?"
"Tell him to stop catcalling me!" Niš continues imitating an annoying frat bro male.
"Oh my God. Fine, I'll do my best just stop doing that voice!" Serbia pleads. Typing something into her phone, she grumbles. "There, it's fixed" she adds smacking her phone on the hard surface.
"Thank you, it means a lot" the city says but the nation keeps grumbling. "I honestly don't know why you are bothered this much. It's not like you don't crave attention from left to right."
"Hey! Just because I am flirty does not mean I'm promiscuous. You keep forgetting, our kind uses words of affection differently. It's more of a trade arrangement than a potential romance. And besides, I never go outside my set limits."
"I know" Serbia adds holding her forearm sad. "Still... I mean, I kind of prefer the human way. The happily ever after and all that."
"Oh honey. Those are just fairy tales. Made so that little princesses would accept their arranged marriages more easily" Niš blurts.
The nation turns away. With the ridges of her eyebrows joining, she stays silent for a minute. "I'm not in the mood for company anymore."
"Okay. I'll come back-"
"No! I mean, I want to be left alone... To wait in peace" she utters sternly.
"You mean, like alone alone."
"Yes, alone alone" she replies showing her irritation more and more.
"But" Niš stutters.
"But what?"
"Aren't you gonna be lonely?"
"GOD DANGIT, NIŠ! You really don't get it, do you? Me, sitting here, waiting. Maybe not moving for a thousand years. This was supposed to be an epic thing! And now, it's turning more and more into a circus! Everyone and their mother comes here to bother me with this and that! Don't you have things to do? You don't see Belgrade popping over every day, do you?"
The offended city looks down hurt "No need to yell. I just felt you needed some company."
"I don't. Goodbye."
"Oh, well" Niš voice quivers. "I'll be going now."
She turns, making the sitting girl feel bad. "I'm sorry I yelled... And hey, you can come over sometimes. Just for important stuff, okay?"
The city nods and slowly walks away.
The nation let's out a long breath. Slowly calming down, she presses one leg on the other, places her hands on the cube and lowers her head in a comfortable position. The light dims and camera begins to zoom out.
"Ms. Serbia" her assistant calls timidly.
"WHAT!"
"Um, I know you said not to disturb you if it's not urgent, so" she answers timid. Slowly approaching, she whispered into the nations ear.
Her eyes could not be more vivid. "That's it!" she growls jumping from her pedestal and stomping off screen. All we could here was her powerful shriek.
"NOW LISTEN HERE YOU 'ROMAN SOLDIER #3 ON THE LEFT' DRAMA CLUB REGECT! I AM TIRED INDULGING YOUR PANSY PATROL! I WANT REAL MEN PROTECTING MY PEOPLE IN KOSOVO*! REAL WARRIORS AND MEN OF HONOR! The other side could hardly be heard but you can be sure that all of their dumb excuses and even dumber countersuggestions were met with a determined and resounding 'NO!'
