Investigation of Albus Dumbledore

(With Amelia Bones)

After leaving the Minister's office Amelia returned to her own. She called in two aurora that she knew were light wizards but weren't Dumbledore supporters.

Amelia normally didn't care who was light or not. She just cared that they did their jobs correctly and legally. The reason she did get light wizards for this case was because Dumbledore was involved. It gave him less of a case for getting the case dismissed. She knew he would say they were out to get him if a dark or gray wizard investigated.

The reason why it couldn't be someone loyal to Dumbledore was obvious. That would create a conflict of interest. She knew he would try but she would make sure it failed.

Knock knock

"Who is it?" She asked.

"Lord Mio and Lady White." A male said.

"Come in." She said, "Good evening Lord Mio. Good evening Lady White."

"Good evening Madam Bones." They greeted.

"Please sit. This will be a long conversation." She warned.

"Okay " The two sat down.

"As you know Mr Potter has gone missing. Earlier today Dumbledore barged into the Minister's office and demanded access to Mr. Potter's magical signature." She revealed.

"What?!" The two were shocked.

"That was my reaction as well. According to the minister Dumbledore had gone to the bank and learned that he is no longer Mr. Potter's guardian. He told this to the minister and then demanded access. He is convinced the boy didn't run away. He even said that Heir Longbottom watched Mr. Potter's belongings disappear." She told them.

"He is really obsessed over the boy. Maybe the child was running from him." Mio theorized.

"That is what the minister believes. He wants him investigated." She said.

"That's why you called us here." White realized.

"Yes. You both are light and not loyal to Dumbledore. Anyone else would mean conflict of interest or Dumbledore will try to get them or any evidence dismissed." Amelia said.

"Makes sense to us." She said.

"Indeed. We will start right away." Mio said.

"Thank you." Amelia said.

"You're welcome." They left.

After the two left her office, Amelia went to the minister and filled him in. He agreed with who she put onto the case. He then told her what he found out.

"I went to Gringotts and I am not happy." He said.

"What happened? Did they refuse?" She asked.

"No. I came prepared and they were all too willing to help when Dumbledore was mentioned." He told her.

"That doesn't sound good." She said.

"It's not." He sighed.

"I thought so." She sighed.

"As you know Dumbledore was Potter's magical guardian, right?" He looked at her.

"He was until recently." She said.

"Well the goblins informed me that he gave the trust fund key to Hagrid and he took the boy school shopping. He also had Hagrid remove the sorcerer's stone during that time." He said.

"That idiot." She hissed.

"Yes well Hagrid never gave Harry the key. He gave it back to Dumbledore. This child knew nothing before this." He felt so guilty for failing the child.

"We all missed it." She told him. "I have a feeling Dumbledore did something to make sure we did."

"So do I. Anyway for years Dumbledore has been taking money out of the Potter vault and the Gryffindor vault." He said.

"Potter is related to the Gryffindors?" She always suspected.

"Yes and Dumbledore has taken money from them. He also was stealing heirlooms." He told her.

"Oh my." She gasped.

Fudge sighed. "The bank tried to contact Potter but they got no response. Their plan was to get him at the bank but that failed. His second year Molly Weasley had his key and took money out and last year every goblin forgot they wanted to talk to him. Probably due to the fact Dumbledore used magic on him. That was the only time he had his key." He revealed.

"What about this year?" She asked.

"Molly Weasley." He answered.

"Damn. I'll have to look into them. I was planning on it anyway." She said.

"Good. Here are the bank records. I am afraid that is all I have." He sighed.

"More than before." She said.

"Indeed."

"I'm going to give these to Lord Mio and Lady White. I will keep you informed." She said.

"Good. Oh the goblin said that they will be in contact if Potter makes a transaction." He said.

"Good." She said.

"Indeed. I'm just worried." He said.

"About?" She asked.

"The boy ran and he's in the tournament. He'll lose his magic if he doesn't compete." He said.

"I know." She sighed.

"He's a powerful wizard. Losing his magic like that could kill him." Fudge reminded her.

"I know. I'm afraid that when we do find Potter he will be dead." She said.

"We will see since the first event is going to start soon." He said.

"I know." She felt like a broken and useless record spell.

"Let's hope we find Pot-" He was cut off by someone knocking on the door.

"I'm sorry to interrupt but you have to see this." An unspeakable said, handing over four pieces of paper.

"What?!" He was shocked.

"What is it?" Amelia asked in worry.

"As you know a contract is magically created when you enter the Triwizard tournament , right?" He asked.

"Yes, I do know that." She answered.

"Well, Potter's contract is no longer here. It has been replaced by another." He showed her.

"Bartimus Crouch jr?!" She choked.

"Yes." He said.

"How is that possible?" She asked.

"I have no clue. All I know is that Harry Potter is no longer a champion in the tournament." Fudge said.

"I think I have an idea." The unspeakable said.

"Oh?" The two looked at them.

"I believe that Crouch jr placed Potter's name into the cup and with Potter gone Magic replaced him with Crouch jr." He said.

"That could be." The minister said. "Magic does work in mysterious ways."

"True." Amelia agreed. "What should we do? I mean besides questioning his father."

"Announce the change. Crouch jr will have to compete or lose his magic." He answered.

"Okay." She said.

"I just hope this distracts Dumbledore a bit." He said.

"I hope so." She said.

"I will look into the contract more and see what I can tell you." The unspeakable said.

"Thank you." Fudge said.

"You're welcome." He bowed and left.

"When I became minister I never foresaw this happening." He sighed.

"I don't think anyone did." She said.

"Probably not. Well, let's get all this going." He said, standing up.

"Alright." She sighed, before the two left the office.
