Hinata of the White Lotus

No More Miracles

Hinata stood face-to-face with the enigmatic masked man from Akatsuki, Tobi.

Who exactly he was and what his goals were, she didn't have the slightest idea, but now that she knew he had a Mangekyo Sharingan, many things were beginning to clear up. This place called Kamui was similar in a way to the Tsukuyomi world that Itachi had once trapped her in, and while it appeared Tobi didn't have the same level of control over the dimension as Itachi had, it was without a doubt his domain. Rather, it was the domain of the gods.

"Who is Kamui?" Hinata asked, having never heard of a god by that name before. She was at least somewhat familiar with the ones Itachi called upon, Tsukuyomi a known moon god, and Amaterasu a known sun goddess. Most people didn't believe them to be real anymore, but Hinata knew better than that. And she suspected that Tobi did as well.

"No idea," Tobi said with a shrug. Whether or not it was a lie, Hinata couldn't say, but she at least knew she shouldn't expect any answers from him now. Or so she thought. "It appears to be a god that was killed long ago, the followers of Kamui, some northern tribe of Shinobi that were wiped out. That's why the Kamui dimension you see is like this, some desolate wasteland filled only with remnants." His answer was more detailed than she expected.

"So you're not trying to summon Kamui to our realm?" Hinata had assumed that must have been his purpose. The gods were trying to encroach on their world and the Mangekyo Sharingan was one way to accomplish this. However, if Kamui was already dead… then his goal couldn't possibly be that.

"Interesting…" Tobi's normally chipper facade vanished, taking on a more calculating tone. "So you know about the gods and their objective too. Just what kind of eye is it that you have?" Here in this dimension, she couldn't use the Nichiren Byakugan, so all he could see was her normal Dojutsu. A blessing in disguise.

"Eyes meant to stop people like you." Hinata had no idea where this sudden confidence was coming from. Her body was a wreck from having used the first of the eight gates and she couldn't even use most of her techniques. Not to mention, this man had the Mangekyo Sharingan and was a member of the international terrorist group known as the Akatsuki. Yet something about her victory over Kidomaru just now left her on some kind of high. She didn't feel like she could lose, for she had finally found herself.

"How cute…" Tobi chuckled. Not that happy-go-lucky fake laugh of his from earlier, but a dark, sinister noise. "Well, you've still got a little time, so who knows? Maybe you can still pull off another miracle after all and win this game?" He must have seen her battle against the impurity that infected Kimimaro. That explained at least why he knew so much about her.

Their conversation ended there- rather, it was brought to an abrupt conclusion. Golden chains flew from the darkness, aiming at the back of Tobi's head. At the same time, elongating snakes flew in from behind Hinata, snapping at the masked man. No techniques had ever been capable of hitting him in the past, as he simply stood still, allowing the techniques to slip through him.

This time was different.

He dodged, jumping to the side and out of the way of both attacks. The gears in Hinata's mind spun, trying to understand the implications of that. Could it be that he couldn't make himself incorporeal while inside the Kamui dimension? If that was the case, this might be their only chance to beat him-

"I look forward to what kind of world we'll see come tomorrow morning!" Tobi didn't give them a chance to make use of this new advantage, disappearing with a wave in a spiraling portal. Just like that, he was gone. To where, they didn't know, but it wouldn't be the last they saw of him. Of that, Hinata was certain.

"Damn, that coward is quick." Tayuya landed in front of Hinata, placing a hand on her hip as she looked over at the corpse of Kidomaru with his head buried in the ground, the rest of his body sprouting out like some kind of houseplant.

"Are you alright?" Hinata couldn't help but ask. She already knew that Tayuya didn't exactly hold any feelings of warmth towards her previous comrades. All the same, she spent a decent part of her life with them, so to see one of them dead couldn't exactly be easy either.

"Pfft, no problem." Tayuya scoffed as if to dismiss the idea she might feel something akin to loss. "I finished off that fat bastard, Jirobo, myself. His corpse is outside. The gate seems to lead somewhere just outside of Konoha." That was a relief, if it meant they wouldn't have to trek all the way back through the Root headquarters.

"Seems like the Sound Four has been dealt with then." Anko landed next to Hinata, a large snake trailing just behind her, its length coiled around Sakon's unconscious body. "The big brother of his didn't make it, so it seems like I only managed to snag one prisoner… but well, it should be enough."

"You intend to keep him alive?" Tayuya asked, finger twitching as if to suggest she would lunge for him at any moment. Just to finish the job.

"I need someone to collaborate with the information we've received from you." Anko stated matter-of-factly. "You should be thrilled. Now that I have him, I don't exactly have to spend much time with you anymore. You're about to be a free girl." She grinned brightly at Tayuya, enjoying their banter.

"Whatever," Tayuya rolled her eyes, acting like it didn't concern her. The small curl at the edge of her lips betrayed her true feelings, however.

As much as Hinata wanted to take it easy and continue to recover her sore limbs, but just because Tobi was gone didn't mean things were over.

"We need to hurry and help Naruto." She said, drawing both of their attention to the last gate. Things had gone smoothly so far, all things considered. She just hoped their luck would hold out a little longer. Tobi's exact goals were still a mystery to her, but…

She knew that if they didn't stop him, the world itself was about to change.

"Is this really working?" Naruto asked, the golden chakra pouring out of his wooden right arm and into Sasuke's curse seal.

When he had first started, the signs of the stage one curse seal had disappeared fairly quickly, blowing away like ashes in the wind. After that, it didn't seem like there was any kind of progress. The most concerning part was Sasuke's left arm, which was still entirely covered in a pitch black impurity.

"Just keep trying!" Kurama ordered. Naruto wanted to rebut, telling him he was already doing that. Something about the fox's voice made him decide against it though. It was almost like he was scared… of what, Naruto had no idea, but he definitely didn't want to find out. This was the Nine-tailed demon fox that the whole village was terrified of… if something had him riled up, then it was definitely bad news.

Just as he thought this, something finally began to change. The curse seal beneath Naruto's palm started to bubble and pulse. Almost like it was alive. The wriggling flesh pushed violently, knocking Nauto's hand away and forcing him backwards. As he stumbled to his feet, the pitch-black flesh inflated like a balloon, rising up from where the curse seal had been at the base of Sasuke's left shoulder. It expanded and expanded, until it was ten times the size of Sasuke himself.

All the impure energy that had been floating in the air filled the sudden mass, leaving not a single drop dry. Only once had it consumed its fill did it pop. As it did, Sasuke gave a roar of pain, his left arm being taken with the rest of the curse mark.

"Sasuke!" Naruto called, sprinting to his friend and teammate's side. Blood gushed out in vicious globs from Sasuke's now exposed shoulder, his entire arm gone. Naruto attempted to cover it with both arms, but he could do little to plug the flow. Not that he needed to try, a moment later some kind of dark purple chakra sealing the wound shut.

"Naruto, look out you loser." Sasuke said through clenched teeth. He had only managed to crack his right eye open, a three-tomoe Sharingan open and glancing somewhere behind the blond.

"Wha-" Naruto spun around, his mouth dropping agape at the sight that was before him. It hadn't been a balloon earlier, but more of a cocoon; Some kind of creature emerging from within the popped flesh.

It was incredibly large, at least fifteen meters tall. And entirely black, exactly like had happened to Kimimaro when he had been absorbed by that impurity. That was about the only similarity, the shape of this one incredibly different. It had an almost human-shaped head, no nose, mouth, or ears. Just a single giant, Sharingan eye. It didn't have any arms either… yet it had hands. Or were they wings? Two giant, hand-shaped wings jutted out from its torso. Finally, it had long lanky legs with claw-like toes.

It had been those toes Sasuke had warned Naruto about. The impurity lunged at them, unable to attack with its stubby wing-hands, so instead moving to shred them to pieces with its feet. The warning was too late, however. Naruto knew he couldn't possibly dodge in time. And Sasuke was in no position to be moving at the moment.

He moved to shove his teammate behind him, determined to take the full brunt of the attack. Sasuke didn't allow him to, instead gripping tightly with his one remaining hand.

A second later and they were gone, their position swapping with the previously discarded barrel that had rolled to the other side of the cave. The impurity's foot crushed the barrel, making a loud cracking sound that had almost been their flesh and bones.

"The hell?" Naruto blinked, looking at the barrel where they had just been and then glancing around to affirm their current location. They were most certainly on the other side of the cave now, propped up against the side of the orange torii gate that he had seen upon first entering. Which was about the last place they needed to be, as it was as far away from the entrance as physically possible.

"My eye..." Sasuke reached up with his right arm, pulling the skin down just below his left eye. It was only then that Naruto noticed it was different. His right eye was still a normal Sharingan, not all that much different from how Kakashi's looked.

The left one now was entirely purple. It had numerous concentrated circles in it, the innermost two with three tomoe for a total of six.

"The Rinnegan." Kurama spoke in awe, not even aware Naruto could hear him just now. "The same eyes as the Old man Six Paths." It was gibberish as far as the young boy was concerned, but the first couple words rang in his head and he repeated them out loud, not sure he really understood them.

"Rinnegan?" Sasuke repeated, glancing into Naruto's blue eyes and seeing his reflection in them. Indra had spoken to him about the possibility of awakening a new power, but he hadn't been very specific about the form in which that power would take. Now that he saw his eye, he could feel the immense power coursing through him.

The very power he had been seeking this whole time. He finally had it: An eye even more powerful than what Itachi had achieved. And he did it not by killing his best friend, but by accepting his help in rejecting that other power.

The very same other power which was now running rampant in the cave they were in. He hadn't meant to use the eye to swap their places earlier and had unintentionally trapped them on the wrong side of the door. While he didn't know a lot about that new ability yet either, he could tell it couldn't exactly just be fired off consecutively either. There was a time delay before they could teleport again and that meant they might have to risk running past the impurity that had once been his curse seal.

"Oi, Sasuke. Can you fight?" Naruto had a mountain of things he wanted to say to his best friend right now. He wanted to berate him for having been kidnapped and stuffed in that barrel. He wanted to yell at him for being an idiot and not talking to him about everything he was going through. All that was going to have to come for later. They had stuff to take care of right now.

"Can I fight?" Sasuke asked in disgust. "Are you serious? I lost my arm." He stumbled to his feet, the lack of an arm on one side making his body feel oddly unbalanced and like he might teter to the side with a simple push.

"Didn't stop me." Naruto flexed his right hand, before then balling it tightly in a fist. "I need your help to fight this thing." He knew just how strong it was from the last time, and Hinata wasn't here yet to purify it. So it was up to him to do something until then. "Once you're done crying about your arm, get over there and help me!" Without waiting for an answer, he charged.

"Naruto!" Sasuke called after him, but his teammate didn't pay him any heed. Instead he kept running straight for the giant bat-like monster that stood in their path, screaming at the top of his lungs to get its attention. The impurity spun around, swinging one of its hand-shaped wings in a backslap.

"Mokuton: Transformation Jutsu!" Naruto held out his right arm and it inflated like a balloon, his fist growing until it was the same size as the wing. "Take this!" He roared, his fist and the equally large wing colliding with the force of a thunder clap. The deafening sound echoed throughout the cave numerous times, shaking it so badly that Sasuke feared it might collapse.

This had been his first time to see Naruto use the Wood release Jutsu. He had heard about what happened the day of the tournament, Naruto's clones spreading throughout the village to warn everyone. At the time, he thought people must have just mistaken his normal shadow clones, since that was an amazing feat for any Shinobi, let alone someone his age. But no, they must have truly been made of wood, like his giant fist was now.

"Just how far are you going to go…?" Sasuke grabbed at the stump of his left shoulder. The pain from losing the arm was almost nonexistent, the weird purple chakra somehow taking care of the residual after effects for the time being.

He thought he had acquired a great power just now. What good was it though if he couldn't even fight? Naruto was exactly right, and if anything that only made him more angry. He had this Rinnegan eye, an eye more powerful than even the Mangekyo. If Naruto could do something about his dominant arm with a wood clone, then this eye should be able to as well.

Pooling chakra into his eye, Sasuke willed it to give him some kind of power. Anything that would allow him to fight. One of the six tomoe in his eye activated, and a moment later a pale arm slid out from his left shoulder. It was definitely not his normal arm and it felt almost mechanical, several giant screws holding it together at the joints.

"This is-" Sasuke held up his new left arm, flexing his fingers. As he did, his wrist popped out and a series of panels in his forearm opened up, revealing a myriad of missiles. By flexing his index finger again, the missiles launched, shooting from his arm and flying towards the Impurity. And Naruto.

"Wha-" Naruto started to scream, only to be cut off by the series of explosions that enveloped the impurity. Sasuke was almost afraid he had taken Naruto with it, until the blond emerged from the smoke a moment later. "The hell!? You trying to hit me too!? Is that payback for earlier or something… wait, what even was that?" Halfway through his tirade, Naruto forgot his anger. Now he was jogging back as he inspected Sasuke's new arm.

"I'm still figuring it out myself." Sasuke said, that being about the closest to an apology Naruto was going to get for nearly just being blown up. Every flex of the finger seemed to open up a different panel, unveiling some kind of unfamiliar, futuristic contraption. It was all a little much for Sasuke at the moment, so he was just going to have to figure everything out on the fly.

The fight was far from over too. The impurity batted away the smoke with two flaps of its giant wings, revealing that it was completely unharmed even after all those explosions had made direct contact.

"You ready this time?" Naruto asked, smirking sideways at his transcendent brother. He knew the odds even now were against them, but when together with Sasuke, he felt like there was no way he could lose.

"Back at you, loser." Sasuke returned the smirk. He clenched his new left hand, getting used to the feeling of the metal appendage and committing the earlier combinations for opening and releasing the panels to memory. The impurity roared at them, despite the fact it had no mouth. That was their signal to begin.

"Moku Bunshin no Jutsu!" Naruto created a half dozen clones that sprinted forward along with the original. As they ran, Sasuke felt the teleportation jutsu from earlier reactivate.

Amenotejikara.

That was the name of the technique. How he knew this, he had no idea. It was like some greater power had just whispered the knowledge to him, implanting it directly into his mind. Whatever the reason, he understood what the technique was now. Locating a broken piece of stalagmite behind the purity, he swapped places with that while flexing his ring finger.

His mechanical arm opened up at the elbow, revealing some kind of cannon. He pointed the cannon, aiming at the back of the impurity that was still distracted by the charging Naruto battalion. Then he flexed his index finger, activating the firing sequence. There was a hum of energy, a blue light emitting from deep within his elbow.

A beam of pure energy discharged a moment later, the blue light arching in a straight line to the back of the impurity's head. It scored a direct hit, the beam expanding in a blue explosion that disintegrated several of the stalagmites on the ceiling. Even with that much power, it didn't appear to cause any kind of wound on the impurity.

It started to turn on him, reassigning precedence to the Uchiha with a mechanized arm. That ended up being a mistake, as the group of Naruto and his clones were on it just a moment later.

"Uzumaki Naruto Rendan!" His first clone stretched his wooded arms to bind its long, gangly legs. Then the rest leapt in the air, inflating their fists like before. Not to quite such a comically large degree, but definitely enough that the impurity felt it as the rain of blows fell. At the same time, the last clone pulled the binding tight, sending the whole thing tumbling over.

As the impurity hit the ground face first, the clones all began to transform, turning into tree roots that pinned it down. The impurity screamed and flailed, its screeching voice bouncing off the wall several times a second. Yet it couldn't break free.

"Piece of cake." The only remaining Naruto, the original, landed next to Sasuke, holding up his right arm as if hoping for a high five.

"We haven't done anything yet." Sasuke deadpanned, turning away from Naruto to focus on the matter at hand. "That thing is still alive and we haven't so much as even hurt it." All they had managed to do was temporarily trap it.

"Of course not." Naruto said like it was obvious. "You and I can't beat that thing. All we really need to do is hold it down until Hinata gets here and then she'll take care of the rest."

"Hinata?" Sasuke asked, not understanding why her name was coming up now of all times. In the first place, could he even trust her? The rumors suggested she had been the one to kill Itachi, but now he knew his brother was actually alive. That made her, at the very least, suspicious.

"Yeah, she came to help me save you." Naruto said, not that Sasuke remembered having needed any saving. "And we've also dealt with something like this before. It's basically something only her jutsu can purify. So it's best to let her handle it." There he went again, talking like it was obvious.

It wasn't obvious to Sasuke though, not at all. What he was saying was tantamount to just leaving it to someone else. Sasuke couldn't accept such a thing. This power had been born from him, right? Then he should be capable of defeating it by himself. He didn't need to rely on another to do his job for him.

"I'll finish it now, while you hold it down." Sasuke raised his new left arm. He was sure if he searched for it, he could find some kind of device strong enough to eliminate it in one shot. So long as Naruto held it down, he could figure something out.

"Just wait, would ya?" Naruto grabbed him by the wrist, stopping him from doing anything rash. His good-natured smile was gone now, replaced by a disappointed frown and a stern glare. "She's here already, y'know." Their argument ended before it even began; Hinata, along with Anko and one other Sasuke didn't recognize jogging into the cave from the giant gate.

"Naruto-kun- and Sasuke-kun too!" Hinata said the latter's name in surprise, having not expected him to be conscious or uncorrupted. With the amount of impure natural energy leaking out from before, she thought almost for sure he had already been swallowed by his curse seal. She was relieved to see that wasn't the case.

"You had us worried, damn brat." Anko was trying to grin at Sasuke, but it was forced at best. She didn't realize it, but being in the room and so close to the impurity was making her feel weak. Even the unconscious Sakon appeared to be affected, squirming uncomfortably from within the coiled snake that held him.

Tayuya was the only one not to say anything, this being her and Sasuke's first meeting. Sure, she knew all about him, as he was Orochimaru's primary person of interest, but none of that really concerned her.

"Yo, Hinata." Naruto finally let go of Sasuke's wrist, instead turning to greet her. "Good timing. Sasuke and I just pinned another one of those impurities for ya." He hiked a thumb over his shoulder to indicate behind him, and Hinata followed it to see the massive monster struggling against the roots that bound it. "I don't know if it's important or anything, but it got made from Sasuke's curse mark… and his arm."

"What!?" Hinata's voice overlapped with Anko's, their eyes immediately trailing to Sasuke's new left arm. Now that she was out of the Kamui dimension, she was able to channel natural energy again and she could see that his arm was made of some kind of special sage chakra and metal.

As surprising as it was that Sasuke had also managed to replace his arm, just like Naruto had done, that was the last thing she needed to be thinking about. The bigger concern was this impurity. It was made from the flesh of Indra's reincarnation… the pretty much worst possible combination. Only a miracle could explain why it hadn't turned into a gateway for an outsider already. If it were to be hit by a Mangekyo ability now… she had no doubt that Tobi's plans would come to fruition.

"Thank you, Naruto-kun. Sasuke-kun." She nodded to the two of them, before then stepping forward to prepare her jutsu. She placed a thumb on her temple, pressing the tenketsu and opening the first two gates simultaneously. An explosion of chakra swirled around her, stumbling all the others. Like with the last large impurity, she would use the Byakuren Yaezaki to purify it and make sure the threat was dealt with before it could turn into something worse.

The impurity seemed to realize what was happening, thrashing more wildly than before in an attempt to break free from the bonds that held it. There was a sound behind her. It was only a second later that Hinata realized it was Anko collapsing to the floor.

The curse seal on the back of her neck was disappearing, being turned into an impurity that was then being absorbed by the monster to gain strength. Not just her, but Sakon's mark as well. They had unintentionally brought this thing the strength it needed to escape.

"Shit, no you don't!" Naruto ran forward, stretching out his wooden arm to wrap around the strengthening impurity and ensure it didn't escape long enough for Hinata to unleash her technique. "A little help, people!" He called over his shoulder.

"Not this again!" Tayuya cursed under her breath as she jumped to join him, the adamant chains shooting out of her stomach and further binding the impurity.

"Dammit, I won't let this be my fault." Anko lifted her head, stretching her arm out from where she laid. A den of snakes slithered from her sleeve and bound the impurity even further still.

"Sasuke, you help out too!" Naruto hollered over his shoulder at the only person that hadn't moved yet.

"Give me a minute dammit." Sasuke was fiddling with his new left arm, activating several different mechanisms in an attempt to find one that would help them. His hand detached from the wrist a second later, a wire attaching it to the rest of his arm. He grabbed a hold of the impurity and began sending a paralyzing shock through the wire.

Even with the extra strength that impurity got from eating Anko and Sakon's curse seals, it couldn't possibly escape now. The only thing left was for her to perform the purifying ritual.

Hinata gathered her breath, closing her eyes and feeling the pathway she had to take. When she opened her eyes back up, she could see that path. Ever single step was laid out in front of her. So long as she followed those steps, there was no way she could fail.

"Byakuren: Some no Mai!" Hinata called, the first dance of the white lotus about to begin. She stepped forward, her body twisting around as she picked up momentum and closed in. It was like she was gliding, merely skating across the floor instead of walking.

The first strike of her dance was about to fall-

When Tobi once again reappeared in front of her.

"No miracles this time." He sang, the power of his Mangekyo already sucking her in. Hinata fell into his portal. A moment later and the whole massive impurity followed, bringing along with it everyone that had been holding it down. Naruto, Sasuke, Tayuya, and Anko were all dragged along, all of them disappearing in a matter of seconds.

Hinata hit the ground with a hard thud, the impact knocking the wind from her lungs. Several other thuds quickly followed, the sound of her comrades being deposited ungracefully next to her. Then a loud crash, the impurity taking a second longer to fit through the portal due to its size. And following that… were screams.

There were people here. Tobi hadn't deposited them in some prison or a random abandoned location. No, he had brought them right into the heart of Konohagakure no Sato.

"Why…?" Hinata lifted her head, vision swimming and brain trying to play catch up. She knew she must have hit her head when she landed, making her thought-process slow and clunky. Even if it had been working, she would have failed to see what purpose there was behind this.

The impurity they only just managed to contain had collapsed on top of several buildings flattening them completely. Beneath the rubble of those buildings she could see it with her Byakugan, the crushed bodies of all those who had been inside. They were dead in an instant, never even knowing what happened. Simply enjoying their lives one moment, and then gone the next.

Rising up to its full height, the impurity spread its wings and took to the twilight sky. In the confined cave, it hadn't truly been able to move around. Now it was free to hunt as it pleased, its giant Sharingan eye scanning for prey.

It didn't need to look hard, several kunai bouncing off its flesh a moment later. It turned, nose-diving towards the Shinobi that had been brave and foolish enough to challenge it. There was no strategy behind the monster's movements, just acting on pure instinct. It slammed into the rooftop, collapsing yet another building and taking even more lives.

The lives of the Shinobi would have been lost too, if not for Neji's Jonin-sensei, Might Gai, who had jumped in to save them, barely yanking them out of the way in time. The impurity turned on him, making a gurgling roar as it gave chase.

"Marvelous, isn't it?" Tobi asked. He sat on a veranda just above Hinata, one leg dangling over the edge, the other propped up on his knee. "And to think, you wanted to purify it." Even now, his goal was still a mystery to her. Surely he didn't just go through all the trouble to create this thing to release it on the village. Did he not know what it really was?

"Tobi!" The voice of an old man roared. Danzo, the leader of Root, hobbled towards them with the assistance of a pale young boy around their age. He glared up at the masked man with a single Sharingan eye. He was missing an arm, the side of his body made of wood just like Naruto. "What is the meaning of this?" He accused him.

"Seriously?" Tobi asked, sounding genuinely mystified. "You expected someone like me to not try something? You may be a hypocrite, but I thought you were at least smarter than that." He giggled to himself, swinging his foot back and forth like a little kid that just successfully pulled off a prank.

"You manipulated me…" Sasuke growled, stumbling up to his feet and hobbling towards Danzo. "You promised me my brother, and you stuck me in a barrel that would have turned me into that thing!" He didn't make it more than a couple steps, the Copy-Ninja landing next to him and grabbing Sasuke by the shoulders.

"Kakashi-sensei!" Naruto pushed off the ground and raced to join his teacher and teammate.

"Naruto, Sasuke. What are you two- that thing- how-" Even the infamous Copy-Ninja was at a loss for words, trying to keep up with what was happening. Hinata couldn't blame him. First they were missing, now they were just magically here in the open; along with a member of Akatsuki and a giant bat-like monster.

"Hey, you alright?" Tayuya, meanwhile, was hunched over Anko, attempting to help her up to her feet and move her somewhere safe.

"I knew you liked me." Anko chuckled, getting immediately told to shut up by a now blushing Tayuya, the two of them beginning to hobble off.

"Hinata-sama!" At the same time as all this was happening, Neji came running at her from the direction of the just destroyed building. He and his partner Tenten had set out on a mission a couple days ago with their Sensei, but it appeared they had returned with him. Just in time for all this to go down.

"Are you alright?" Tenten asked, bending over to check the wound on Hinata's head as Neji helped her to her feet.

"I'm fine." Hinata answered. And she would be. The natural energy flowing into her was already healing the wound and her cognitive functions were beginning to kick back in. "I need to take care of that monster." She nodded towards the impurity. It was still chasing after Gai, but was no match for his great speed.

"Allow me to help." A voice that shouldn't have been out in the open said from behind her. She spun around to see Uchiha Itachi standing there, having somehow snuck up on her even with her enhanced vision.

"Kakashi-sensei says he's an ally." Tenten said, assuming Hinata didn't already know him. That wasn't what concerned Hinata right now though. No, why was he here? Had his battle against Danzo exposed him? And what about his brother?

It would appear Sasuke hadn't seen him yet, still focusing all his anger on Danzo. It was only a matter of time before he did, however. And then things would get really complicated.

"Thank you for saving my brother." Itachi said, not seeming to care about that anymore. "I knew that if it was you, it would be alright. As gratitude, you can just leave Tobi's monster to me."

It was only then that Hinata realized what Tobi's plan had been all along. He had manipulated them all perfectly. Orochimaru, Danzo, Itachi, and even her. Everything had been to get to this moment. She glanced at the masked man, and could practically see the victorious smirk beneath his mask. His Sharingan eye was trained on Itachi, the most subtle of genjutsu manipulating his thought process.

Itachi didn't even notice, because why would Tobi place such a genjutsu on him? One that would convince him to want to fight the impurity. Itachi didn't actually know what that thing was though. He didn't know how bad it would be if the ability of his Mangekyo Sharingan struck that impurity. Not just any impurity, but one made from Indra's flesh. With an ability he only still had because she gave him the Moonfire Elixir.

His right eye transformed into the Mangekyo Sharingan.

"Itachi-san, please wait!" Hinata reached for him, if she could just dispel the genjutsu, she could prevent all this. No, she was already too late. She was fast, but his ability was instant.

Tobi's plan had succeeded; They were about to witness the entrance of a god into their world. And her name-

"Amaterasu!"

Chapter End

AN: In regards to Kamui, and this is just to the best of my knowledge, but the origin of the word is from the old Ainu language and can translated as god. The Ainu people are still around, but most of their old culture has been lost, so I decided to make Kamui a god that had perished, along with the people that worshipped it within this world.
