First things first, this story has garnered more than 300 favorites, so thanks a lot for the love and support, it really helps me keep going and also thanks for all the constructive reviews. On to chapter 10, this is just a chapter full of fluff, so I apologize to those expecting a fight in advance. Also some may wonder that this story has been too focused on Naruto and Hinata till now. Its natural since, Naruto was mostly with Jiraiya during the month long training period before the finals in canon and in this fic, I have only added Hinata and Naruto's parents into the mix and the previous chapter showed a bit of Shikamaru and Shikaku as well. Others will soon join the fray once the Chunin exam finals get going, which will be start from chapter 12. I hope you enjoy the chapter.

CHAPTER 10: MEETING YOUR LOVER'S PARENTS

"Let's get to the hospital, we will discuss everything there." The Nara patriarch suggested and the teens nodded. The four then took to the roofs, as they made their way towards the hospital, with Naruto carrying a still blushing Hinata bridal style.

Shikaku and the teens reached the hospital in a little more than 5 minutes. They saw a still injured Hayate leading 3 medic-nins who were protesting about him still being injured.

"It's alright Hayate, I have brought the kids here, and you should go and get yourself treated." Shikaku ordered the wounded jonin. Hayate nodded and one of the medic-nins helped him back into the hospital.

"I assume that young Hinata was in the hospital. It would be helpful if you can lead us to her room." The Nara clan head asked another medic-nin present who immediately complied.

When the group got to Hinata's room, Naruto, Shikamaru and Shikaku waited outside as medic-nin and nurses checked on Hinata.

Naruto was looking downwards with an expressionless face. Shikamaru was a bit worried seeing his usually jovial friend distressed like that. He knew that the blonde was worried about Hinata's injuries but he didn't know what exactly had happened.

"She looks fine Naruto, I am sure she will be alright. She just needs a bit of rest." The Nara heir said to his friend, who just nodded but still remained distressed. Shikamaru didn't know what else to say to his friend to lift his spirits so he just patted the blonde's shoulders.

Inside Naruto's mindscape, Naruto's parents as well as Kurama were all too aware of the reasons of Hinata's actions. After all, Minato and Kushina had died under similar circumstances. Kurama was trying to come to terms with the fact that keeping his promise to the dying Naruto of the previous timeline might be much more difficult than he thought.

'No they will have a nice life full of love together. The Gaki always says that he never goes back on his word…then I won't either, I will make sure the two share a long healthy and loving life with a loving family.'

"Naru-chan, Hinata-chan loves you a lot. If she sees you distressed like that, she will be sad." Kushina said from the mindscape, trying to make the distress go away.

"I understand Mom, I just need some time to calm down." Naruto replied. At least his parents were there to support him in such distressing moments. He couldn't imagine amount of helplessness he would have felt had they not been there.

"The patient doesn't have any serious and life threatening injuries. Her only problem appears to be that she is exhausted due to the fact that she rushed into a fight so soon after regaining consciousness. She just needs some rest. She also asked for Uzumaki Naruto-san." The doctor said as she walked out of Hinata's room.

Naruto nodded.

"Go on, we will wait here for a while as I have sent word to the Hokage to meet us here." Shikaku said to Naruto, who gave him a nod of acknowledgement and walked into his girlfriend's room.

"How are you feeling Hinata-chan?" the blonde asked in a low voice. Hinata looked at him and gave him an affectionate smile. The smile reduced the blonde's distress a bit. He made his way to her and sat by her bed as he held her hand.

"Hinata-chan…you….I thought...I…" Naruto then simply shook his head rapidly as a few tears formed in his eyes.

"Just promise me that you won't do something so reckless again." Naruto asked his lover pleadingly. Hinata didn't answer immediately, she simply shifted a bit to her side and then motioned the space on the bed by her side to him. Naruto couldn't really deny that, so he got into the bed, Hinata wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into an embrace and began running her fingers through his hair.

"I am sorry Naruto-kun, that's the only thing I can't promise to you." She said to him softly.

"Why?"

"Can you promise me the same thing? That you won't jump in if you see me in a similar situation?" she asked softly.

Naruto didn't even think for moment before shaking his head no.

"So what makes you think that I will not do anything if I see you in harm's way? I don't regret what I did and I will gladly do it again, maybe you don't know that but if it weren't for you, I could have never become a ninja. I have drawn confidence from watching you take on all that hatred that the villagers throw upon you with a smile, your attitude of not giving up stirred up the confidence in me. I have been admiring you since that day when you saved me from those bullies. After that I kept watching you face all those glares, while still trying your best to help those in need even though nobody acknowledged you for it. Seeing that, I started working to the best of my abilities to be strong enough to not only solve the issues of my clan and gain my father's acknowledgement but also someday be able to stand by your side and face your challenges together with you. Finally today I was able to stand up for you and do something for you. I am very happy and proud of myself right now and I will gladly do it again and again for you. But just know that even if something happens to me, I will be watching over you, be there for you and love you forever." This was perhaps the longest Hinata had ever spoken without stuttering. She then simply tightened her embrace and pressed his head into her chest.

"I will always be with you Naruto-kun." She whispered. Naruto simply wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly.

"Son, we would like to talk to her." Minato said from Naruto's mindscape.

"Huh! Are you sure Dad? I mean I would be glad to have you two…I mean three meet her, but you did want to keep everything secret so…"

"It's okay Naru-chan, she can be trusted, besides I can't really wait anymore to meet my future daughter-in law." Kushina said. Naruto could swear he saw stars in his mom's eyes and he blushed heavily at the mention of 'future daughter-in law' comment.

"Umm, so how exactly do I get her here?"

"As you two are already in physical contact, (Naruto again blushed) just ask her to focus on you, which I am certain she already is doing, so it won't be too difficult to get her here."

"Umm…Ok I guess."

*Back in the real world*

"Umm Hinata-chan…there are some….people…who kinda….want to meet you….in….my mind."

The Hyuuga heiress still tightly holding Naruto in her chest was obviously confused.

"W-What do you mean by in your…mind….Naruto-kun?"

"Well…I am not exactly sure how to explain it, so just hold me and focus on me okay?"

"I am already focused on you my hero." Hinata teased as she closed her eyes and tried to think about her boyfriend while continuing caressing his spiky hair. Suddenly she felt a tugging sensation as if somebody was pulling her. Then she felt like falling down for one or two seconds before she landed…..on a place…full of lush green grass, at some distance, she saw snow covered mountains, while there were some hills around the place here and there and a beautiful two storied house in the middle. A gentle breeze was blowing and although the sun was overhead, the place was really beautiful. (After meeting his parents Naruto's mindscape was getting brighter and more beautiful with each passing day. Finally after getting hooked up with Hinata, his mindscape took the current shape.) Then she found Naruto who took her hand in his and gave her a grin.

"What is this place Naruto-kun? It's really beautiful."

"Thanks Hinata-chan. As for this place, well this is my mindscape….like a physical representation of my mind."

Hinata was a little confused first but accepted the explanation. Naruto then led her into the house.

As soon as she entered the house, she saw a man whose face was carved on the Hokage monument and who was known to everyone in Konoha. Then she saw a beautiful woman with very long red-hair, the two smiled at her.

"Y-y-yondaime-sama, K-kushina sama?" Hinata stuttered out in surprise.

"Well Hinata-chan, these are my parents, my Dad Minato Namikaze and my Mom, Kushina Uzumaki. Although I really don't know how you know about my mom."

"And Mom, Dad! This Hinata-chan, my super awesome and beautiful girlfriend!" Naruto said grinning.

Before Naruto could finish introducing his parents and his girlfriend to each other, Kushina had already ran to the said girl and had enveloped her in a tight hug.

"Oh, she's so cute, Dattebane! She also looks a lot like Hitomi, don't you think Minato-kun?"

"Hai hai, she looks a lot like your best friend." Said Minato smiling.

"It's a pleasure to finally meet my son's guardian." He added. The Hyuuga girl, released seconds ago from Kushina's tight hug could only nod and blush as she was a little out of breath."

"The pleasure's mine, Hokage-sama." Hinata said finally after catching her breath and gave the man a bow.

"No need for all that Hokage-sama, Kushina-sama stuff, you can just call us Mom and Dad like Naru-chan does." Kushina said making the Hyuuga girl blush.

"O-o-okay…Kaa-san."

"See, that's better, Dattebane!"

'Now I understand from where Naruto-kun got his verbal tic and his over energetic attitude.' Hinata thought.

"Ano….Kaa-san, aren't you…I mean….supposed….to be dead….so How are you here, in Naruto-kun's mind? And…..why did Minato tou-san seal the Kyuubi into Naruto-kun?" Hinata asked the two adults in a little serious tone.

"Oh! I forgot about Kurama, wait a second Hinata-chan. Oi! Kurama! Where are you dozing off this time?"

"Well, he usually stays in the valley, on the western side." Kushina replied. Minato took them there with a snap of his fingers.

Now Hinata was face to face with a creature, whom she had only heard and read about. Obviously she was scared, who wouldn't when you are face to face with a gigantic fox with nine-tails that was several hundred feet high, like a mountain. Kurama as usual was dozing off.

Hinata flinched a bit and grabbed Naruto's shirt.

"No need to fear him Hinata-chan, he just looks scary, but in reality he is one big fluffy fuzzball."

The comment somehow made Kurama wake up. The gigantic fox opened one eye and then let out a yawn.

"Oi Brat! I am not FLUFFY!" Kurama scowled.

"YES YOU ARE!" Naruto and Kushina shouted back at the same time. Kurama sighed. Upon seeing this kind of exchange of words between Naruto, his family and the nine-tailed fox, Hinata began to giggle.

"Hinata-chan, let me introduce to the laziest creature in existence, Kurama, the nine-tailed fox. You can also call him Fuzzy if you want."

"I told you not to use that nickname. Remind me as to why did I chose to help you."

"Because you are fond of me Dattebayo!" Naruto replied, earning a sweatdrop from the fox and then a sigh.

"And Kurama, this is Hinata-chan, my super awesome and super-duper beautiful girlfriend." Hinata blushed heavily at such an introduction.

"H-Hello Kurama-san, nice to meet you."

Kurama already knew what kind of a person Hinata was but still she was the first person to show him such humble behaviour.

"Such a respectful nice girl you are. Nice to meet you too little vixen. Perhaps you should teach this gaki some manners." Kurama replied with a grin. Naruto let out a little pout.

So far, Hinata in a few minutes had learnt a lot of things about her boyfriend. He was the son of the Fourth Hokage and her mother's best friend. The nine-tailed fox didn't seem like the terrifying monster people made it out to be. She also thought with a chuckle that the fox would be best friends with Shikamaru if the two were introduced. (Naruto agreed with that and jokingly told his father that may be Shikamaru could have been a better jinchuriki than he was.) The kyuubi and Naruto seemed to be on friendly terms with each other.

"Now I guess I should explain to little Hinata-chan about the reason for my sealing of Kurama into Naruto." Minato said and went on to give the Hyuuga girl the same explanation that he gave Naruto earlier about the attack on Kushina during her childbirth, the masked man's threat of destroying the world, their deaths at the hands (claws) of Kurama, who was just released from the Mangekyou Sharingan based genjutsu and was in a rage. After completing the story, the Uzumaki family requested Hinata to not hold it against Kurama for killing Naruto's parents as he was in a rage and was fighting for his freedom from being cruelly imprisoned by humans and then treated as a weapon. Hinata simply accepted all that and even extended her friendship to the fox as a gratitude for looking out for her love and always healing him, whenever he was injured. She also thanked Kurama for healing her after she was stabbed by Kabuto.

Kushina also promised her to tell her stories about her mother and all the times they spent together the next time they get to chat.

At the end, Hinata got another hug from her future mother in-law and a tap in the head from her future father in-law who also said that he like Naruto believed that she will be a great shinobi in the future.

The two lovers then bid good night to Naruto's parents and soon found themselves back in the hospital bed.

Hinata simply continued holding her blond boyfriend in her arms and caressing his spiky hair.

"It was really nice meeting them. Thanks for trusting me enough Naruto-kun." She whispered.

"Hinata-chan, I want to be with you always and forever, how can I not trust you?" Hinata got touched with that, she pulled Naruto upwards a bit, planted a loving kiss on his forehead and then slid him back into her chest.

"I hope I am not interrupting anything Naruto-kun, Hinata-chan."

The teens looked at the door to find the Sandaime Hokage looking at them with a grandfatherly smile on his space.

They began to get up when Sarutobi raised his hand.

"It's okay you two, you have more than earned the right to rest. I really didn't want to disturb you two at such late hours but as the Hokage I need to hear from Naruto, his point of view about the fight that took place near the abandoned house.

"It's okay Jiji, I understand." Naruto said and then he recounted the events briefly and the fight. Sarutobi raised an eyebrow when Naruto revealed that he tapped into the Kyuubi's power to fight the Suna Jonin.

"Since when are you able to tap into the Kyuubi's chakra consciously Naruto?"

"I drew it first during my team's mission in the Wave country. Then again, during my training with Ero-Sennin, a day after the preliminaries, he made me meet the Kyuubi and draw his chakra to summon the Toad Boss Gamabunta. Since then it became easier, bit by bit to draw the fox's chakra during our training and I also took extra training from Gai-sensei, which helped me get stronger physically. Ero-Sennin also gave me tips about meditation which greatly helped me in gathering the fox's chakra."

Hiruzen nodded in understanding. He had allowed Jiraiya to begin training the blonde. He would later ask the Gama-Sannin to file a detailed report of Naruto's training so far. Also he was aware of Naruto's training with Maito Gai. The explanation about being able to use the Kyuubi's chakra was reasonable. The Hokage also had more pressing concerns, especially figuring out the reason a Suna shinobi attacked a Konoha shinobi in Konoha itself, which could at the very least cause a serious diplomatic incident, also the Konoha genin Kabuto Yakushi's involvement in the whole matter was very concerning. The old man due to his concern for Naruto had visited the blonde first. To discover him in the arms of the Hyuuga heiress was a pleasant surprise. But now he needed to get a detailed report of the incident from the Jonin present in the area, Gekko Hayate.

"Both of you did an admirable job today, you displayed that the Will of Fire burns brightly in your hearts. I am proud of both of you. You two will get the payment of an A-rank mission for this after the exams are over."

"Also, as much as I would like to exempt Naruto from competing in the final rounds of the Chunin exams, I can't do that, as for now we have to keep this whole matter secret. However, I will delay your match. Earlier it was decided that Naruto's match will be the first one next morning but I have decided to move your match to the second last one. You can come to the arena tomorrow at least 1 and a half hours late. This is the least I can do for you Naruto."

"I understand Jiji. Thanks for considering. I really needed some rest now. If it's not too much trouble, just let us know why that damned Jonin attacked Hayate-san and what the hell has that bastard Kabuto got in all this?"

"I think you have a right to know that as you participated in the fight, so I will let you know after the exams. For now rest well. I wish you all the best for tomorrow's final matches Naruto. Now I need to get going, have a good night kids."

The old Hokage smiled as he walked away from the hospital room. The two lovebirds then drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
