[LOG FILE #016 – AGON WASTES, AETHER] The siren started blaring as I saw a large gate closing, which could only mean one thing: the Space Pirates had initiated a lockdown. Once the gate sealed more of them phased into the base. Rather than bothering to explain my presence I let my arm cannon talk for me. The Pirates were soon dead, which left me with some time to explore and examine the room further.
This particular room seemed to be a central command base. Large computer terminals show weeks, even months of data. There was information about Aether as well as it's dark counterpart. It also seemed they had succeeded in making a prototype weapon that could fire dark matter and double functioned to open portals to Dark Aether. I made a mental note to myself to acquire the prototype as soon as I could: not only to power my own arsenal, but to set back the Pirates' progress. Win-win for me.
Once I had collected enough I took an elevator up to the second floor of the chamber. A window shattered as I reached the top and another Space Pirate fired a few shots at me. Seems I missed that one earlier. I decided to shoot a couple missiles into his face to make up for lost time. Doing another room scan to confirm it was clear I pressed on.
The next hallway was fairly small. I only got a short distance before a gate shut itself in my face. While wondering what had just happened a blue puddle formed on the floor, then reshaped itself into a familiar form: me. It was the same being I had encountered on Dark Aether when my weapons and gear got stolen by the Ing. Before I could pull up my scan visor to get an analysis of this doppelganger it glided further down the hall, another gate closing behind it.
Since I couldn't proceed any further, I turned to head back to the previous chamber. I noticed a small alcove I hadn't seen before, and investigating it led me through a door to the windowed chamber overlooking the command center. Kicking the Space Pirate corpse out of the window it had already been hanging from, I scanned the biggest glowing terminal which started reversing the prior lockdown. I backtracked my way to the main chamber and proceeded through the now-open gate…
