[LOG FILE #020 – AGON WASTES, AETHER]

I fired a few shots of my own Power Beam before dodging Dark Samus' shots. She dodged my first volley as well, floating into the air as she gathered phazon energy. Knowing I was in for a tough fight I aimed my arm cannon at her once more.

After a second thought I switched to my scan visor to gather intel. Knowing your enemy is the best way to defeat them. The scan result seemed as promising and foreboding as I feared it would. Confirming my suspicion that she was a phazon entity coupled with my genetic material, Dark Samus' scan also revealed she was capable of firing missiles, a scattershot version of my Power Beam, and could create energy shields to defend against my missiles.

Switching off the scan visor I returned my focus from defense to offense. Relying only on my Power Beam would be a nuisance, but I had no choice. Charged shots from my arm cannon seemed to work well enough for a few minutes, but Dark Samus moved around quickly which made it difficult to keep a lock on her. I got hit a number of times from her beam attacks and missiles, even while constantly moving myself.

Partway through the fight Dark Samus started levitating, a glowing energy field around her form. I noticed while she was like this that my attacks would be deflected while she was attacking, so I had to hit her while she was moving. The biggest issue was her new attack in this form, which appeared to be a copy of my Super Missile. Needless to say, the blast from it hurt quite a bit.

Eventually I hit Dark Samus with a few more well-placed Charge Beam blasts and she finally collapsed. As she seemed to scream out in agony, phazon energy crackled around her. I knew that wasn't good and ran quickly behind cover. Just as I got to safety a small explosion of phazon lashed out from my doppelganger, followed soon by Dark Samus herself exploding into small particles that lingered in the air.

I had emerged victorious. And yet, I had a feeling that wasn't the end of her…
