[LOG FILE #029 – DARK AGON, DARK AETHER]
As the glow became more intense I shielded my head with my arms, bracing for a possible explosion. I was far enough away from the sphere that I felt I would be safe from shrapnel, but best to exercise caution. Thankfully the ensuing blast of the orb was fairly weak, thought it did kick up a lot of sand.
As the dust settled I noticed something floating where the sphere had once been. This must be the alien xenotech I had picked up from my initial scan of the sphere. I approached the unknown device cautiously. My danger alarms didn't trigger, so whatever it was it could be handled safely. I reached my hand out to it.
Upon touching the device a hologram of runes appeared at my feet. I recognized the design of the runes at once: they were of Chozo origin. Which meant that this xenotech was an upgrade for my armor. I relaxed my muscles as the runes lifted me into the air, my Varia Suit flowing with energy from the enhancement process.
A minute later the flow of energy finally ceased, lowering me to back to the ground. A quick diagnostic confirmed my theory: my Varia Suit had been upgraded to a Dark Suit. According to the diagnostic, the Dark Suit enhanced my armor's defensive power and also was more resistant to Dark Aether's atmosphere. This was definitely a welcome addition to my arsenal.
I heard something shifting in the sand nearby. A ledge rose out of the ground on the opposite side of the arena from where I had originally entered. I remembered there was still work to be done in the Dark Wastes, so I pressed onward toward the temple's Energy Controller...
