As a Child Marth was playing with his friend,Princess Caeda,daughter of Mostyn,King of Tayls & a friend of Cornelius,Father of Marth & King of Altea. During their peace,The Dark Armies,who are sent by Gharnef,a powerful sorcerer,broke into the castle. Mostyn & Caeda fled as Cornelius was betrayed by his Ally,King Jiol & was killed. Marth's older sister,Elice was captured while their mother,Liza fled with Marth,but gets fatally wounded. The Altea Knight,Jagen took Marth away from here. He begun training with him.
Many Years Later,Marth fought off against the Bandits. He met Hardin,younger brother of the King of Aurelis,& Nyna,Princess of Archanean,who gives him the Fire Emblem,a legendary treasure given to the hero destined to save the world.
At Gharnef's lair,Elice met another prisoner,Merric,a Wind Mage. Jiol impatiently tells Gharnef about the next goal,which he tells him that it won't be long.
Later,Marth defends Hardin & Nyna from an Assassin,who turned out to be Caeda. She tells him that she ran away to find help. As they reach Gharnef's Lair,They encounter the Dark Armies & defeats them,but gets captured. Jiol shows Marth the sword which belongs to Cornelius. Merric uses his spell to free himself & Elice. They quickly freed Marth & the other prisoners. Marth battles with Jiol,killing him & avenging his Father's death. They are confronted by Gharnef & his armies,who held Caeda hostage. Jagen sacrificed himself to save Caeda. Marth hurls the sword right into Gharnef's heart. Before dying,He warns Marth that a Great Evil will rise again.
The people of Altea bow & respect Marth as a hero & he shares a kiss with Caeda.
