After leaving the Gremory's mansion, me and Ayumu headed back to my house. Apparently she was going to be living at an already furnished apartment, so the only things she needs to bring to my house are her bags.

When we arrived, a voice was quick to greet us

"Tatseyo-san?"

I instantly recognized it was Aya-chan's and replied

"Over here!"

I heard steps coming towards the entrance

"Welcome home, Tatse-"

When she sees us, Aya-chan freezes immediately and her eyes grow wide

"A-ah, A-Ayumu-san?!"

She states, her glare fixed at Ayumu

"Hey, Aya-chan, right?"

Ayumu answers absentmindedly, apparently not minding Aya-chan's surprise

"H-Hi, Aya-chan... you see..."

I wave at her and try to explain right from the get go

"Ayumu will start living with us from now on"

My red headed friend nods and greets her

"Hello, looking forward to living with you"

Aya-chan is surprised for a moment but quickly bows down and answers in a rush

"Y-yes! I'm looking forward too!"

Seeing the little girl's panicked reaction, Ayumu gave a slight laughter causing me to look at her in surprise

"Hahaha, sorry, it must be really out of nowhere, right? Suddenly coming in like this"

She says, scratching the back of her head, but Aya-chan shakes her head fiercely

"N-not at all! Ayumu-san is Tatseyo-san's best friend! There's no problem at all!"

Ayumu chuckles a little at her reaction, but for a brief moment I notice a gloomy look sweeping across her face before she turns to me

"So... Tachan, where can I put my things?"

She asks me and I answer without thinking

"You can place it in the bedr-"

As soon as it hits me, my eyes wide as I slap myself mentally

There's only one room here... and I'm already sleeping on the floor

I feel my face reddening

"Uh? Is something wrong, Tachan?"

I try to shake off the awkward feeling and answer her

"U-uh, the bedroom, y-you can it there, but... Ayumu, did you brought a futon by any chance?"

Realizing what the matter was, Ayumu's expression dropped

"Oh... no, I didn't..."

I feel guilty for a moment, I should've thought about this before, damnit!

Taking a look around the living room, the obvious idea comes to my mind

"I can sleep at the couch, I don't think it would be a problem for a day or two"

However, this only makes Ayumu's expression worsen

"W-what? No, no, I won't make you sleep at the couch at your own house! I should sleep at the couch, this was my idea after all"

"N-no, I would feel bad if you were sleeping here, it won't be a problem for me so you can-"

"No! Like you said, it's just for the night, right?"

"Yes, but it's-"

"H-hey!"

As I was about to rebut Ayumu again, Aya-chan's voice called us out

Both me and Ayumu turned to her surprised

The little green haired girl was fidgeting

"Uh... sorry for yelling..."

I shake my head

"No, it's ok, what were you going to say?"

She fidgets a little more and answer

"The bed... it can fit more than one person..."

For a moment we both stare at Aya-chan, taking in what she just said

When realization suddenly hits, we both can't help but shout together

""E-EHHHHHHH?!""

I feel blood rushing to my face as I jump to question her

"A-Aya-chan, what do you mean by that?!"

Ayumu also follows along and stands up close to Aya-chan's face

"Y-yeah, I thought you were innofensi- I mean, I thought you were innocent! What are you talking about?!"

Aya-chan looks at us with wide and confused eyes

"S-sorry, if Ayumu-san is unconfortable, then it can't be helped..."

This time, it's us that get confused

"Ayumu?"

I ask and Ayumu points confused at herself

Aya-chan nods

"I wouldn't mind sleping on the bed with Ayumu-san, but if it's a problem then..."

I blink a few times in confusion

"M-me?"

I look at Ayumu and see the same look on her face

We got it completely wrong!

"A-ah! So that's what you were talking about?!"

Ayumu exclaims and Aya-chan tilts her head

"Yes, you think its a problem?"

My red haired friend lifts her hands

"N-no, it's just that I... I"

She looks at me as if looking for advice! What do you expect from me, my mind was also in the gutter!

"W-well..."

I wavered for a moment before putting together and answering

"If Ayumu is okay then I don't really see a problem..."

I toss the issue right back at Ayumu, who answers troubled

"Ah... I..."

She gives a brief sigh and answers as if in defeat

"...Fine, I guess that's the solution for now"

Aya-chan beamed at the answer

"R-really?"

Ayumu hesitantly nodded

"Y-yeah... it's just for a day anyway, so there's no problem"

Ayumu says this but I can clearly she sees embarassed

Sleeping with Aya-chan probably isn't the issue that's troubling her, it's probably what we assumed she was suggesting...

I sigh and a face suddenly comes up in my head

A dark skinned, silver haired girl pointing at me with a wide grin on her face

(Pervert)

Ugh...

I shake my head to dismiss the thought and look at Ayumu, who's walking upstairs

"I'm going to put my things in the bedroom then"

"Ah, let me help you"

Aya-chan says and follows behind her

I stay at the bottom of the stairs looking at them going up

"I should probably help as well..."

Muttering, I also climb up the stairs to catch up with them and scratch my head as I make my way step by step

Why do I have to think about Liliana in situations like this?!

Part 2

I walked out of the shower and began drying myself

Being the last one to bath I had some time to think about the current situation while the water poured into me

Ayumu was already preparing what would be her and Aya-chan's bed for the night

This situation is so strange, I know I can't possibly understand what's going on in Ayumu's head right now, but I'm really glad she's at my side

Also, I'm glad that she seems to be getting along with Aya-chan... but I really didn't expect that

I think because Aya-chan is a child and is so innocent that it may have rubbed Ayumu the right way.

Although the Esper Code has nothing against killing children...

I sigh while putting my clothes on, no use dwelling on these thoughts right now. Tomorrow is a new day and Ayumu already said she wants to go to school with me and Aya-chan, so it'll be her first day at a normal school as well. I wonder how things are going to be.

Oh, that's right, I wonder if she'll get along with Kanae, Eizo, Koji as well.

After putting my clothes on, I walk towards the bedroom, the door is locked

I put my hand on the knob, but a ringing comes in my head and I pull back right afterwards

A flashback about me walking into Aya-chan in the shower crosses my mind

I... should probably knock first

I give a few taps in the door and Ayumu's voice in the other side

"Tachan?"

"Yes, can I come in?"

"Of course"

I open the door and see Ayumu sitting on the bed while Aya-chan is laying on it, apparently sleeping

"Why did you knock? This is your house, haha"

She says with a sarcastic smile

I scratch the back of my head and answers awkwardly

"W-well, I didn't want to run the risk of running into you changing or... something"

Ayumu's cheeks go red after I say this

"O-oh, I get it... thanks"

"N-no problem..."

The atmosphere becomes awkward and neither of us knows what to say

Trying to find something to shift the subject, I point towards Aya-chan

"She's sleeping already?"

Ayumu looks at the green haired girl and nods

"Y-yeah, she's probably tired after all the stress... seeing you passed out in the street..."

She says with a concerned look in her eyes

"You don't really remeber anything?"

I shake my head

"No, nothing"

Aside from that voice in my head and Ayumu's voice pulling me back to reality, I remember nothing else about it

I sit by Ayumu's side, carefully in order not to wake Aya-chan

"Don't worry, whatever it is I'm sure we'll figure out eventually... more important, are you excited for school tomorrow?"

I ask and she meekly nods

"Yes, I'm a bit nervous but... I think I'll manage..."

She turns to me

"Do you think we'll be in the same class?"

I nod

"Probably, it's Rias after all, she managed to put Aya-chan in the same class as Koneko-chan and Gasper so she wouldn't feel isolated. I think she can put us in the same class, don't worry"

Ayumu breathes a sigh of relieve

"Thank goodness..."

She lingers for a moment and turns her head to the ceiling, a smile on her face

I can't help but ask her

"You seem happy"

I say a bit confused

"I-I do?"

Ayumu says with an awkward laugh

"Yeah, to be honest I've been thinking that you look pretty happy taking our situation into account..."

I admit what's been on my mind for a while and Ayumu gives a slight giggle

"I see, so that's how I've been looking. Well, it's just that after all this situation has sunk in, there's one thing in my mind that I just can't get out and makes me really happy"

She declares with a smile

"And what would that be?"

I ask, wondering what could possibly be on her mind to make her mood suddenly take this big of a turn.

Ayumu takes a hand to her hair and answers

"Ever since we were kids you've always looked after me, cared for me, so when you said I was the only one you could rely on, I was just really happy"

She averts her eyes and starts playing with her hair, a bright smile never leaving her face

"..."

For a moment I just stare at her, procesing what she just said

"Jeez! Say something!"

She speaks out to me

"Uhm..."

Aya-chan shifts in bed, probably bothered by the sudden outburst, and Ayumu covers her mouth

"Sorry..."

She mutters, thankfully Aya-chan didn't woke up and went back to sleeping peacefully as she was before

"No... I should have said something, sorry, it's just that I was taken off guard..."

I answer awkwardly

"But... I've never seem it like that"

Ayumu looks curiously towards me

"Never saw it like what?"

I look at her eyes

"Like taking care of you"

Surprise immediately draws on her face

"To me you've always been important Ayumu, being with you makes me happy and... of course I feel like I can rely on you, I've always felt like that, not just now"

Ayumu looks at me wide eyed

"Tachan..."

An uncomfortable silence takes place and Ayumu averts her gaze

"T-thanks, I'm glad..."

"Don't mention..."

Ughh, this is so awkward, what am I supposed to do? Wait, am I supposed to do something?

"Uhm..."

Aya-chan rolls on her bed and I snap back to reality

"A-ah, right, we should probably go to sleep right now"

Ayumu shakes her head with her cheeks a bright red color

"Y-yeah! You're right, wouldn't want to get late for our first day, hehe..."

She says with an awkward laugh

"Are you really okay with sleeping with Aya-chan?"

I ask to be sure and Ayumu sighs

"N-not exactly, I mean, I've slept in the same bed as my friends in the Esper Community but... ya know..."

I immediately understand what she's saying, even if she sees Aya-chan as a girl, she still can't help but also see her an youkai too

"Are you unconfortable?"

She shakes her head

"No, I think I'm getting more used to it, it's easier since she's just a kid, so it's alright"

I nod, so I was right, Ayumu won't start loving supernatural creatures out of nowhere, but at least this is a start

*Ring Ring*

I hear my cellphone and jolt upwards in order to answer it before it wakes Aya-chan up, thankfully it was close by and I manage to quickly reach it

"Liliana?"

I say as I tap on the screen to answer the call

"It's that Liliana again?"

I nod as a voice reaches my ears from the other side of the phone

"Tatseyo?"

Her familiar voice calls my name

"Hey, Liliana, is everything okay?"

I ask, throwing a glance at Ayumu who's looking at me with worried eyes

A gleeful voice answers me from the other side

"Tatseyo! So glad to hear from you! How were things with Rias?"

I sigh in relieve, so in the end she's just calling to see how things went.

"It all went fine, I guess... Ayumu is going to attend Kuoh from now on"

A brief silence took over the line before Liliana's voice jolted

"Really?! That's great! Then it means she'll be sticking in Kuoh town too then?"

I nod

"Yeah, untill we can figure out our next step. I hope the Community won't become suspicious untill then"

I gulp after saying this, the thing I did in order to get Ayumu here, it won't stay hidden for long. That's why we have to act quickly

"Actually, about that..."

As if reading my mind, Liliana answered

"We already have a plan, I discussed it with everyone, including Azazel over the phone, and it seems solid"

I wide my eyes in shock

"You made a whole plan in the time it took for us to get back to our house?"

Liliana might be a genius, but that's way beyond anything I expected from her

However, I heard a slight giggle

"No, no, in fact we've made this plan a while ago, but it involves a lot of risk..."

I turn silent for a moment

"What kind of risk?"

Liliana's voice stiffens a little and she answers

"Well... Tatseyo, is Ayumu with you?"

I turn my head to look at Ayumu, who's still looking at me confused all this time

"Yes, she's here, why?"

Liliana sighs

"The plan we have is something that only humans can do... we thought that having you do this on your own would be too dangerous, but... with Ayumu..."

With this, I understand what Liliana means and nod

"I see... just a moment then"

I turn to look at a confused Ayumu, who blinks twice before asking

"What happened?"

I press the speakerphone button and tell her

"We should probably go to the living room to discuss this"

Afterword: First of all, I am VERY sorry to not keep this story updating as often as I'd like, but there's kinda of a big issue going on right now. You see, my college has now fully adopted online classes untill this Corona shit ends (which will take a while here). Now I'm doing all the subjects I should be doing online, what should be great, except it isn't because none of the teachers is prepared to minister classes like this and that's stressing me the fuck out. Some have only a vague idea of what to do and others seem to be kicking the bucket for ideas. In biochemistry my teacher has decided to split the tests in TWELVE! TWELVE tests for one single subject! I have an anatomy test this wednesday and my anatomy professors (who are among the oldest dinossaurs in the whole fcking college) don't even know WHERE THEY'LL PUT THE FCKIN TEST FOUR DAYS PRIOR TO IT!

So I'm very sorry, it's not just because classes have been taking a lot of time, but I'm also feeling overwhelmed by this chaos and everytime I try to write it doesn't feel like I'm doing such a good job. I'll not be putting this story on a hiatus since I don't want to stop writting, but please be patient untill me (and the college) work things out.

Now, to the questions:

I actually never thought about doing esper animals, maybe evil spirits since they also have souls, but this could be something to work with.

No, GR never had a fight scene, everything he went through went completely off screen. Also, DxD manga finished a while ago and doesn't even cover the Kyoto arc, something happened that got it cancelled.

Yeah, I won't get too worked up with power levels because there are things to consider like the ones you said, but I still gotta watch for canon developments in the LN in order to keep the work at least somewhat consistent.
