Chapter XXI.

Last Time.

Naruto then spins and hits Mercury with his elbow before performing a Pele kick. Naruto then kipped up and dashes at Mercury to drop kick him in the stomach and off the platform. "WINNER NARUTO UZUMAKI!"

Later, in an empty storage room, Mercury picked up a screwdriver and moved to his robotic right leg, and started tightening bolts on t as Emerald and Cinder looked at him. "I don't know what happened, all of a sudden he got faster." He said as Cinder waved him off."

"I don't know what happened, you were supposed to fight that blonde chick with the temper so people wouldn't think twice when Emerald used her powers to make it seem like she attacked after the match."

"We should be careful then," Mercury said as Cinder once again waved him off.

Now.

Beacon.

"You heard the lady!"

Naruto walking the hallway, stopped as he heard Nora speak. He looked into their room and saw Nora back to him in her gym clothes talking to Pyrrha. And blushed as he saw her ass in the tight shorts with a panty line.

"No more moping around! We gotta get your butt in shape for the big fight!" Naruto blinked as Nora starts doing random exercises like running in place, pushups, and jumping jacks while she speaks. "It could be today, it could be tomorrow, it could be the most important fight of your entire life!"

She culminates this demonstration by lifting a barbell tipped with 1000-pound weights on each end, holding it in the air, and sweating profusely before she starts to fall backward. And had Naruto catch her grunting from the weight. "Hey, boyfriend!"

"Boyfriend?!" Pyrrha asked as Naruto sighed.

"I've learned to put up with her as you have… Nora, I'm going on dates with Weiss now."

"I don't mind sharing~" Nora smiled as she leaned her head back and flashed him her cleavage.

"Nora's right."

The three looked to see Ren walking in with a pink apron on with black writing.

"About Pyrrha… I don't know about her ideas with Naruto." He clarified as Naruto helped Nora put the weight down. And blushed as he swore she started grinding on him. "You can't let your concern hold you back. You need to focus. You'll be defending the honor of Beacon Academy."

"Of course. I-!"

Ren cuts her off as he holds a glass filled with a green liquid making bubbling noises in front of her face. "This blend of herbs and vegetables is filled with nutrients vital to your body's well-being."

"Oh, that's-"

Ren leaned back and smiled at that. "Please, there's no need to thank me."

"Thank you?" Nora asked as she leaned back up. "Ugh, that looks like slime from a lakebed!"

Ren turns away from her, cradling his creation. "Algae contains numerous spectacular properties. See for yourself." He said lifting the cup to Nora's mouth.

Nora sips it down and immediately regrets it, as her face turned the same sickly green as the healthy sludge. "BLEGH!" She goes straight over to the waste basket and dunks her head in, getting all of the liquid out while continuing to make disgusted noises as Naruto pats her back. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU!? Ugh…" She moaned as she lifts her head.

"Me? You're the one that wasted perfectly good juice."

"We're supposed to help Pyrrha, not poison her!"

"There was absolutely nothing wrong with that.

"If it looks the same coming up as it does going down, then there's something wrong!"

"I see your team is just as lively as mine," Naruto said looking at Pyrrha who smiled.

"Stop flirting with her Whiskers! We need her to be leveled headed not thinking of your big d-!" Naruto clasped his hand on Nora's mouth at that.

"I'm not-!" He stopped before pulling his hand back as she licked it. "Why?"

"Bet you'd like me to lick something else~"

Neither of them notices Pyrrha's smile at their antics before it fades, though their leader does from the doorway.

"Hey, how about we all get some fresh air?"

Out in the hall, Naruto walked down and bumped into Yang who just got out of the girls' bathroom wet, wearing nothing but a towel over her shoulders coming down over her breasts and black boyshorts. "Uuhh…"

"Hey, Naruto." She greeted holding on to both ends of the towel having her breasts squash out as beads of water went down her cleavage. "Like what you see~?" Naruto didn't answer as Blake in a black towel, hair wet walked out with Ruby in a red one and Weiss in white. "I'll take that as a yes."

"You know Naruto and I are dating Yang," Weiss said as she held her towel.

"I don't mind sharin' maybe I like girls too~"

They all turned and walked away, though Yang smiled as she pulled the back of Blake's and Ruby's towels up getting them to squeak.

She just smiled as she put an extra sway in her hips and moved her towel up to her hair having her breasts jiggle. Naruto took a calming breath as he saw the sides before Yang smacked her left cheek. "I need a cold shower."

Later, as the sun started to set, Pyrrha sat alone outside the dining hall, head bowed as the wind rises. She sees the air blow a single orange leaf onto the cobblestones at her feet, and she looks at the fall colors with a face of total fright, remembering the sight of Amber in her comatose state and the choice weighing her down.

"Hey."

She turns her head up to see Jaune smiling with a large cone of cotton candy. "I-It's no green goop, but I think it still might do some good."

Pyrrha stares at the offered treat before hesitantly taking it. "Um, right. Thank you, Jaune."

Jaune's smile fades as he sees her still-tormented face, and takes a seat next to her. "You were the first person to ever believe in me, you know that? Even when I told my parents I was going to Beacon, they told me not to worry if I ended up having to move back home. How depressing is that?"

"I'm sure they didn't mean it that way."

"I guess... I'm just trying to say that... you've always been there for me... even when I didn't deserve it. And I can tell there's something on your mind, so... I don't know. How can I help?" He asked looking over.

"Jaune…"

"Hmm?"

"I don't know what to do." She sighed as she took a bite.

"W-What do you mean?"

"Do you believe in destiny?"

"Um... I-I don't know. I guess that depends on how you view it."

Pyrrha looked as the wind blows the two leaves away. "When I think of destiny, I don't think of a predetermined fate you can't escape. But rather... Some sort of final goal, something you work towards your entire life."

"Okay. Uh, yeah. I can see that, sure."

"Well... what would you do if something came along that you... never expected? Something that had the potential to stand between you and your destiny?"?

Jaune looked at her before speaking. "Like what?

"Or what if you could suddenly fulfill your destiny in an instant, but at the cost of who you were?"

Jaune leaned over and attempted to place his hand on her shoulder. "Pyrrha, you're not making any sense."

Pyrrha stood up, holding herself as if on the verge of tears. "None of it makes sense! This isn't how things were supposed to happen!"

Jaune gets up as well. "I'm sorry! Please, I-I'm just trying to understand what's wrong."

"I've always felt as though I was destined to become a Huntress, to protect the world... (Sigh) And it's become increasingly clear to me that my feelings were right. But… I don't know if I can do it."

"Of course, you can. The Pyrrha Nikos I know would never back down from a challenge. And if you believe it's your destiny to save the world… You can't let anything stand in your way." Despite Jaune's intentions, this doesn't bring her relief. Instead, Pyrrha looks shattered, covering her mouth as she begins to sob. "Pyrrha?"

"Stop..."

"Did I say something wrong?" He asked walking over.

"STOP!"

She holds her hand out, black energy surrounding it as she unintentionally uses her Semblance to push Jaune's armor and its wearer into the dining hall column. He weakly watches her from his spot above until she opens her eyes and realizes what she's done. "Jaune!" She lowers her hand and lets him fall to the ground, finally letting the tears come as he looks up. "I'm... I'm sorry…"

"Pyrrha, wait! (his outstretched arm does nothing to stop her from running away, and he faces the ground, cotton candy still discarded beside him. "What did I say?"

"She must just be upset at something."

He turned to see Naruto and Haru there. "We'll find her."

They ran ahead and saw Pyrrha leaning against a tree face first, forehead resting on her arm. "Pyrrha?"

She jumped at that before looking back to see the two. "O-Oh, hello."

"What's wrong?" Haru asked Pyrrha who sighed before looking at Naruto.

She looked down and explained what she told Jaune. "What do you want to do?" Haru asked as she looked up.

"Yeah, I mean from what I've seen you're like us and our teammates," Naruto spoke before continuing. "I mean we all want to become Huntsmen and Women to help people… And sometimes that means we put others before ourselves and become a doormat."

"Yeah, so think of what you want to do, not anyone else." Haru finished as she looked at them.

Docking Bays

At the cliffside docking bays down the main alleyway and under the floating Amity Colosseum, Ruby walks up to the end of the line waiting to get in the transport up to the arena. She turns her head to see Brawnz Ni and Nolan Porfirio talking outside the line, and beyond that, Sun Wukong walking away, Ruyi Bang and Jingu Bang over his shoulder, with a familiar rabbit Faunus snapping photos of him. Ruby steps out of line and approaches her from behind as she continues taking pictures with her camera until she notices who's behind her.

"Ruby, how are you going?"

"Hi, Velvet! What're you up to?"

"Oh, you know. Just working on my photography. Do you wanna see?" Velvet offers her camera to Ruby.

Ruby immediately notices that Velvet didn't even get all of Sun in her picture, cutting out his head and feet, and showing just his weapon.

"That's... better."

"Hey, guys."

Ruby looked to see Naruto walking up and blushed having Velvet notice. "Yang embarrassed her earlier." He said before they walked back to the Colosseum.

Back in the Colosseum, people are back in the stands cheering and ready for entertainment as Ruby descends the steps to an open seat. She looks around before seeing Emerald on the other side of the arena. "Emerald's... Here?"

Emerald leans forward to look up and glare at Ruby, who suddenly gets up with a worried expression and runs towards the exit tunnel. Checking to see if no one's around, she enters a door labeled with a yellow maintenance sign and finds herself inside the Colosseum. She walks forward with determination as the announcers' voices are heard, muffled behind the brick walls.

The sound of the roulette is heard faintly, but what makes Ruby stop in her tracks is the sight of another unexpected person stepping out from a nearby tunnel, completely unharmed and not going home. Ruby squints her eyes before speaking. "Mercury?"

"It looks like our first contender is... Penny Polendina from Atlas…" Port said as Mercury look at the wall

"What are you doing?" Ruby asked Mercury before Port continued.

"And her opponent will be... Pyrrha Nikos from Beacon!"

Ruby dips her head in thought until she realizes... "No..."

"Ooh, polarity versus metal. That could be bad."

Ruby glares at him, reaching back to grab Crescent Rose, only to remember she doesn't have it on her. Mercury simply grins maliciously and sets himself up in a fighting pose.

Outside, the arena's center is lifting back into the air, and an oblivious Penny is grinning wildly, with her fellow redhead Nora cheering excitedly from the stands, even getting Ren to let out a reluctant cheer as Pyrrha looks at the ground.

"Sal-u-tations, Pyrrha Nikos! It's an honor to finally meet you!" Penny smiled at Pyrrha. Pyrrha doesn't respond, looking at her hands as she clenches them in attempted determination. This is going to be so much fun!"

Inside, Ruby is still facing down Mercury, who's smugly smiling at the younger girl's confusion.

"Mercury, what are you doing? You were hurt! What's going on?" Mercury doesn't answer, still grinning. "Fine. If you're not going to tell me…" She attempts to move around him, but he blocks her path, then does it again when she sidesteps.

Outside, Penny beams widely in anticipation, but Pyrrha is still looking around as if in a daze, though she manages a small scowl at her opponent, her weapons Miló and Akoúo̱ already in hand.

"3, 2, 1… BEGIN!"

Suddenly, Penny is surrounded by Floating Array, gesturing the swords around to her command before launching a volley of them at Pyrrha, who runs towards them and leaps through or deflects each aimed blade. The swords fly into the air until they turn around and come back to the fight.

Inside, Mercury goes forward, blocking Ruby's path with his arms outstretched, restraining her movements no matter where she moves. Panicked, she grimaces and spins forward, becoming a blur of red and petals rocketing toward Mercury, only for him to kick her twice mid-dash with Talaria and knock her to the ground. He advances on her just as she gets out her Scroll, about to push the button to call for help when a bullet sends the device flying out of her hand.

"Let's just keep this between us friends."

Outside, Pyrrha, now having returned the shield to her back, twirls the javelin to block each sword swipe of Penny's, dropping her weapon when she needs to somersault away after being hit by a slash, only to magnetically return it to her hand as Penny readies another wave of blades.

"My word! What a tremendous display by Miss Polendina!"

Fully glowering, Pyrrha rushes forward and jumps on an incoming sword, swinging down on Penny, only to have the assault halted by a collection of blades, though she leaps away from the retaliatory slice as Penny backs away as well. She tries to defend against the multitude of swords with the length of her weapon but is forced back regardless, prompting Pyrrha to roll the shield from her back onto her arm with her polarity as Nora wildly cheers.

Despite the cheers, Pyrrha isn't doing well, looking down to see her Semblance's black energy bend the weapons in her hands unnaturally for a split second. Emerald narrows her gaze further, continuing to concentrate on Pyrrha.

Inside Ruby attempts to block a kick from Mercury with her arms, but gets a face-full of boot.

"Always have to face an asshole who picks on girls."

Mercury turned to see someone walking from the shadows.
