It's finally the day of our school trip to Kyoto.
Me, Aya-chan and Ayumu are making our final preparations together with Liliana and the others from her peerage.
Aya-chan will stay with Liliana during our trip, she's a first grader so she can't go with us in the trip and obviously we won't leave her at home alone
"So this will be our farewell for now, huh?"
I ask, Liliana nods
"As much as I'd like to send you two off in the train station, it would be a problem if an unrelated teacher or student were to see us together and talked about it in Kyoto"
Aya-chan comes and hugs both me and Ayumu
"W-woah!"
Ayumu is taken by surprise
"Please be careful! I'll be waiting for you two!"
Ughhh! So cute!
I pat her head
"Don't worry, you too stay safe, alright?"
She nods
"Yes, I'll get stronger too so I can fight alongside you!"
Both me and Ayumu smile, I'm pleased mostly because Ayumu seems to really have taken a liking for Aya-chan even though...
"Ayumu-chan, take care of Tachan, okay~?"
Liliana says with a wink
Ayumu lifts her head from looking at Aya-chan to look at Liliana and her expression immediately turns sour
"R-right..."
She still doesn't seem to like Liliana very much.
"You two already have our numbers, in case anything happens contact us at anytime"
We nod, even with the ORC and Azazel present, Liliana thinks it's better if we talk to her directly.
And I agree, after all, we've been much closer to her and this whole plan was hers and Azazel's idea.
Also because... it could happen again.
While looking at the numbers I had saved in my phone, I smiled
"Not long ago I was trying to kill you... and look where we are now"
I get a few chuckles
"Never imagined you would become friends with a bunch of devils, huh?"
I laugh awkwardly
"Nope, not at all... but..."
I scratch my head
"In fact, I feel a little guilty over the fact that I only stopped to get to know you when I realized you were espers."
Remembering the day when we met.
The day when Liliana stopped me from killing the ORC and the Student Council...
Even after captured, I only stopped struggling after they showed me they were espers
"If you hadn't showed me you were espers, I wonder what would have happened..."
Just as I start feeling bad, I feel two hands on my shoulders
"Hey!"
Liliana stands in front of me, looking directly eye-to-eye
The confidence reflected in her beatiful golden eyes, sends shivers down my spine and makes me freeze in place
"This is not the time for that. Actually, it will never be the time for that"
"W-what?"
I ask with a shaky voice and she answers
"Tatseyo, you've been more than helpful to us you've been a friend, to us... to me. You don't have to apologize at all"
Her warm eyes turn from me to everyone else at the peerage
"Tsk, you are literally risking your neck to take down the guys from the Khaos Brigade, that's more than enough"
"Fufufufufu, Tatseyo worries too much."
Their carefree remarks makes me feel like a weight being lifted out of my shoulders
"... You already have a lot to worry about, stop holding into past mistakes."
Manaki speaks, this is one of the nicest things she has ever said to me
"Kakakakaka, Manaki-chan is right, you have more than repayed us. In fact, it's us who owe you now."
Liliana nods and looks at me again
"Galard is right, I wonder..."
She says this before suddenly hugging me
"L-Liliana?!" - I ask, completely nervous and taken back by the sensation of Liliana's body against mine
"How should I repay this debt when you come back? Fufufu..."
W-w-w-what?!
"Liliana-san!" - Aya-chan scolds her
"H-hey! What are you doing to Tachan?!"
The dark skinned girl then let's go off of me, giggling like a little girl
"I just wanted to ease the tension a little, Tachan~"
She says, teasing me and Ayumu again
"But since we are talking about gratitude..."
Liliana looks at Ayumu and starts walking towards her
"H-huh? H-hey, what are you going to do?!"
Ayumu lifts her arms in defense as Liliana starts getting close
"H-h-hey!"
My red haired friend is taken completely by surprise as Liliana stretches her arms and pulls Ayumu closer, hugging her
"W-what?"
Her eyes wide as Liliana gently holds her close, Ayumu is so surprised that she only keeps her arms on the side, reactionless
"I also have to thank you as well. Thanks Ayumu-chan, for trusting and helping us too"
Me and Aya-chan look at the scene in shock, with no idea how Ayumu will react to this
"A-ah..."
Ayumu stands idle for a few seconds, likely unsure of how to react, before sighing and giving back a half-assed hug, tapping Liliana's back a few times
"T-thanks, but I already said I'm doing this for Tachan..."
She says, blushing a little
Liliana pulls back and let's Ayumu go
"I know, but... thanks anyway"
She replies with a warm smile and both me and Aya-chan smile
Even if Liliana likes to tease, even if she's weird sometimes, it's times like these that show me how much of a good person she is.
In a few hours we'll be leaving, so we used Liliana's teleportation circle to go back to Kuoh town.
Only me and Ayumu teleported back home, leaving Aya-chan to Liliana and her peerage's care
As soon as we were back at the large basement Liliana had built for me, Ayumu takes a deep breath and says
"Liliana is... a pretty intimate girl isn't she?"
I turn to her, eyes wide.
This is the first time Ayumu has referred to Liliana as 'a girl'. Someone like her.
I try the best as I can to conceal my smile
"Yes, she's pretty sociable, isn't she?"
Ayumu nods
"Yeah, she's sociable, pretty and kind... for a devil, you know..."
She says, the last part ruined it a bit, but at least she's complimenting Liliana, right?
As I was thinking this, Ayumu walked forward and hugged me
"U-uh? Ayumu? What happened?"
I ask worried, however, Ayumu pulls me even closer and burries her head on my chest
"I won't hand you over..."
She says something in a barely audible tone
"A-Ayumu?"
"Even if she's good as a devil, I just won't hand Tachan to anyone!"
I jump back in confusion, but Ayumu's tight hug keeps me in place
"H-hand me? I'm not going anywhere, Ayumu, what's going on?"
Ayumu loosens her grip on me
"Sorry, I just wanted to hug you, that's all"
She says, then takes a deep breath and a few steps back
"Are you okay? Is there something between you and Liliana you aren't telling me?"
I ask, but Ayumu shakes her head and shows a confident expression on her face
"Sorry to worry you, Tachan. There's nothing wrong, after all..."
She smiles at me
"I'm the one who knows you best!"
The steps again towards me and grabs my arm
"H-hey!"
Despite my protests, she squeezes my arm even tighter
"Let's get this mission done!"
Part 2
All of Kuoh Academy's second year students are standing around the train station, waiting for the bullet train that will take us to Kyoto.
However, when most seem excited and happy, me and Ayumu are looking around in silence while our trio of friends take most of the conversation.
The Gremory peerage is saying goodbye to Rias, quite away from everyone else at the station.
As devils, they probably have things to discuss that they have to be out of sight to talk about.
[We have to act separetly during this school trip, if we are seem to much around you, the Hero Faction might be suspicious of us]
It was decided before we left.
This is not something that's troubling me, however, something else is...
"Ayumu... why are you so close to me?"
I look to my side and there is Ayumu, standing barely an inch away from me
"Uh? What do you mean? We're gonna have to stick together for this mission, right? You said it yourself..."
I shake my head
"Y-ye, I mean, no! I didn't mean it li-"
"Tatseyo! Ayumu!"
"E-eh?"
I turn to Kanae, who's been calling our attention for a while and has an annoyed look on her face
"Mou! Stop flirting and pay attention you two! If we don't follow our schedule properly we won't be able to enjoy all of Kyoto"
Me and Ayumu apologize
"S-sorry, we've been busy with some other things, stuff from back in town... and we weren't flirting!"
Kanae ignores me and keeps talking about her plans, looking over at a paper where they have been writting things down while checking their phones.
I take a glance at them and sigh
Unfortunately, we'll probably not be together for most of the trip.
We have a plan to meet with the Hero Faction the moment we arrive at Kyoto and it's unlikely we'll have much time to sightsee with them
Of course our trio of friends, teachers and even other students would notice our absence, that's why Azazel and Rossweisse will do their best in order to camouflage it, even if it takes brainwashing or illusions.
I feel really bad doing this to my friends and innocent people, but there's no other way to do this without being noticed.
"H-hey, Tatseyo"
Kanae calls out to me
"Oh, hi Kanae, what's up?"
"W-well, I... uhm, I'd be very grateful if you..."
She stumbles over her words a little
"What is it?"
When I ask this, Kanae suddenly bows down handing me an armband
"Could you please help me with Morals Committee duties?"
...
"W-what?"
Kanae lifts her head and says desperately
"Due to our impopularity, there's only me and another second year in the Morals Comittee, the Student Council and teachers will be busy with administration stuff so we'll be the ones making sure the students don't break any rules, but with the way things are it's too much work for us to do alone, please, Tatseyo, help us!"
She says handing me the armband again
"H-hey, I can't do that! I'm not a member of the Morals Committee!"
"There's no problem! I'll just tell the teachers you are a provisional member, please!"
She begs so much that the other students start looking at us
I glance at Ayumu and our two other friends, but they all look at me just as confused
"O-okay, I will! Just calm down, alright?"
Desperate to make her stop, I take the armband from her. When I do it, Kanae beams at me.
"Thank you, so, so much!"
She takes the armband back and puts it herself on my arm
"H-hey, I can do it myself!"
Ignoring my words, she places it on my arm and puffs her chest out
"Now you are officially a member of the Morals Committee!"
"Temporarily! Only for the trip!"
I yell, Kanae waves her hand
"Yeah, yeah, I get it"
Why does it seem like I was tricked somehow...?
I feel hands on both my shoulders
"She really got you there..."
"You really are a softie, Tatseyo..."
"Oh, shut up..."
I answer, as Ayumu starts to laugh a little. Not you too...
Everyone starts to make their final preparations since the train will be arriving shortly, I once again try to steal a glance at the ORC.
Kiba has joined his group of friends, since he's from a different class it seems he won't be in the same group as the others.
Irina, Asia and Xenovia are already with their group, but...
"Where is Issei?"
I say it under my breath
He's the only one who's not here yet.
Something clicks in my head and I turn to my friends
"Hey... can you guys wait here? There's something I need to check"
"Uh, Tachan? What is it?"
"Hey, Tatseyo, the train will arrive in a few minutes!"
I wave my hand
"Don't worry, it won't take long"
I hope...
My worries and curiosity taking the best of me I sneak to where I saw the ORC members coming from
And once I sneak into a corner, I surely see Rias and Issei there
However, there's no time for me to breath out in relieve as just a moment after seeing them, something happens...
Issei held Rias's hand
"W-what?"
They both say something and before I realize what's going on, Rias leans forward...
And kisses Issei! On the lips!
My eyes wide and I immediately turn back, rushing back to where everyone else is gathered
Of course! Of course they're together!
The way they look at each other, holy shit they even live in the same house! How dumb am I?!
I slap myself mentally for not noticing the mood right away
I just witnessed something I really shouldn't due to my curiosity! Sorry Issei, sorry Rias!
When I get back to my group of friends they all look worried, including Ayumu
"Tachan, did something happen?"
I nod, energetically, trying as best as I can to sound natural
"N-n-no, I just thought I had forgotten something, but then I checked on the way and it was with me all along, hahaha..."
Eizo makes a puzzled expression
"What was it?"
"Err, it was my, my... Oh look! The train's coming!"
As if an angel descending from the heavens to save me, the train finally arrives and Ayumu and the others get inside
I place mine and Ayumu's baggage on the proper place and she thanks me as I sit by her side
"Hey, Tachan"
She calls me out and I look at her
"Y-yeah..." - Oh fuck, I'm still nervous from that unexpected scene
"Was it really nothing over there?"
She asks, but does so leaning forward so she can whisper it to me
"W-woah!"
I back away in surprise, causing Ayumu to get even more suspicious
"W-what is it?"
Leaning forward and getting closer to me right now isn't really a good idea...
"A-ah, y-yeah, sorry about it, I just got a little nervous and wanted to check things before we boarded you know, since how the trip will be and all"
Ayumu stops for a moment as if realization had hit her and sighs
"Oh, about that... yes, this whole deal is pretty enerving..."
I breath out in relieve, it seems I got away with this one
"Y-yes, very nervous about this whole deal with the Hero Faction"
I bluff
"But you know..." - Ayumu looks out of the window, I look at the same direction, but suddenly feel a warm sensation on my hand
Looking down, I see that Ayumu has started to entangle her fingers with mine!

"A-Ayumu?!"
A time like this really is the worst to do this! No, in fact, why are you doing this!? There are other people around us, you know?

Part 3
After recomposing myself, I notice that the train has gone kinda quiet.
The initial uproar that everyone had as the train started moving died out after some minutes of chattering
We and Ayumu are having a chat, quietly, as sometimes we have to discuss things regarding our mission
"How do you intend to help Kanae with the Morals Committee if you're going to be busy with the Khaos Brigade?"
I sigh
"I'll probably have to ask Azazel or Rossweisse to cover for me. I feel terrible doing this to Kanae, but I can't think of a better solution"
Ayumu groans and puts a hand over her mouth, she must be even more troubled about this than I am...
Suddenly, the calm atmosphere was shattered by several girly shrieks.
"Kyaah! Kiba-kun is coming over here!"
"Is he going to talk to someone?"
As it turns out, Kiba had come from his car and was heading over to the back of our car as the girls, including Kanae, drool over him.
However, when Kiba approaches Issei, suddenly the girls begin to... panick?
"Eh...? W-went over to Hyoudou?"
"H-how can it be... Kiba-kun is going to that perverted territory..."
"Hyoudou x Kiba must be an undeniable truth!"
What the hell are they even saying!? Is there even such a shipp among the girls in this school?
"He is... pretty popular, huh?"
Ayumu says as she looks over at him, I nod
"Yeah, he's handsome after all, maybe it's that cool atmosphere as well..."
I reply with a hint of jealously. Can't say I wouldn't want to be at least a little more like him.
Suddenly, I feel a tug on my shirt
"I... I think you are cooler."
Ayumu says, a hint of red on her face
"W-what?"
I feel my own face getting warmer after hearing what she said, but out of instinct I asked as I didn't heard it
"I said... I think you're way cooler."
She says much more firmly this time, tugging my shirt even tighter!
"A-ah... t-thank you, y-you're cool as well"
Waaaah! What kind of answer was this!? I'm so stupid!
However, despite my lame response, Ayumu giggled and leaned against me
"Thanks"
E-eh?! What the hell is that?!
I don't know why, but ever since we left Liliana's office Ayumu's been way more daring, it's just so weird, but everytime I ask she says it's no big deal.
Maybe she's doing this to gain confidence? I don't know, I wanna make her comfortable, so I'm trying not to make a big deal out of it, but it's getting really hard!
I look around to see if anyone's noticed this, but they seemed to be too focused on the whole Kiba situation, except of course...
My trio of friends looks over at me and give me a thumbs up, not saying even a single word
(Oh, shut up...)
I murmur to myself, only after talking with Ayumu that students would start spreading rumours about us I managed to convince her to stop leaning on me.
She's currently leaning on the chair with her eyes closed and I'm gazing at the fast passing scenery.
I look at Ayumu's resting face. It's good we enjoy it now, when we get back we'll probably won't have anytime to rest...
However, the momentary peace is broken by a male scream
"Mmm, oh oh oh! Oppai!"
"Oooaah! Matsuda! What are you doing! This is mine! What is so fun about a male chest!"
I look to the back of the car and I see Matsuda desperately gropping Motohama's chest. What the fuck?
"What the hell is that?"
I shake my head
"No idea, their brains must have fried for good"
Matsuda suddenly opens his eyes
"Ha! What on earth am I doing... I just had this sudden urge for breasts in my sleep... and then..."
Motohama adjusts his glasses
"Matsuda, has your breast deficiency reached such a level... Ok, tonight we will be holding an ecchi DVD festival in the hotel room! All the equipment is packed in the luggage!"

Issei also leans towards his pervert friends

Due to their loud cheering, everyone in the wagon could hear them and soon enough the usual comments began.
"Go die ecchi trio!"
"So disgusting on the train!"
"You're ruining our trip!"
I sigh and just rest back into my chair
"You should get used to it, nothing new under the sun here..."
After spending so long in the same class as Issei and these two idiots I came to get acostumed to it.
"R-really?"
Ayumu says, looking over at me
As I'm about to reafirm what I said, a hand taps my shoulder
"Uh?"
I look up and see Kanae has stood from her seat
"Kanae? What are you doing?"
Our friend leans over and speaks to both me and Ayumu
"This is your time to shine, Tatseyo! Go and aprehend the ecchi trio's indecent material! If we do this in front of everyone they are gonna like us a lot more!"
I immediately pulled back at this request
"Eh?! I just joined as a provisional member! Why can't you or the other member do it?"
"Tatseyo, you know how they are, if I go there, it will be the same thing we always do. But if it's you, they'll be so scared they probably won't try this crap for the rest of the trip! C'mon, pretty please?"
She says putting her hands together in a begging manner
I sigh, taking a glance at Ayumu
"Maybe you should do it..."
She says, clearly disturbed by their behaviour
With nowhere to run, I groam as I stand from my seat
"Alright, alright, but you're really pushing it"
"Thanks Tatseyo! You're the best!"
She cheers me on as I walk through the rows of seats, the other students looking at me as I make my way to the pervert trio
(Eh, Kageyama is in the Morals Comittee now?)
(Who in the world let him join? I heard they were short handed but still...)
(What's he gonna do if we break the rules?)
(Probably break us...)
What the hell do you guys think about me?! I'm doing this for you, okay?!
Once I reach their seat, I stop
The pervert trio looks at me, their excitement suddenly dead
"K-Kageyama-kun, w-what brings you here?"
Motohama asks
I take a deep breath and ask as politely as I can
"I'm sorry, but you see, my friend Kanae had me involved with her Morals Comittee business and since it seems like I'm one of them now... I'm gonna have to confiscate your erotic material"
Hearing me, the pervert trio jumps back
Motohama clings to his luggage as if holding for dear life
"No, no, no! Anything but that! Take my money! My fingers if you want! But don't take away my research material!"
Suddenly he, Matsuda and Issei start to beg, attracting the attention of the whole class to us
"Tatseyo! Don't you understand that as man too? We also have urges!"
When Issei says this, suddenly the scene of him kissing Rias comes to mind. You already have her you dumbass! What the hell are you even talking about?!
"Issei... please stay out of this"
I try, and fail, at sounding the least threatning as possible
"Eeeeek"
Issei backs himself into a window
"I'm sorry guys, but I'm really gonna have to take it, please give it to me"
"Nononononooooo!"
Motohama insists
At this point my patience is running thin
This mission with the Hero Faction, Ayumu's sudden change of behaviour and now Kanae putting me to work in the Morals Comittee.
If I don't pull off some steam... I swear to God I might explode!
"Motohama... I highly suggest you give it to me now..."
I place my hand on his shoulder and squeeze it tightly, just enough to make it red
"O-ouch!"
I look at him dead in the eye
"While I'm asking nicely..."
"EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!"
After that I walk back to my seat, holding Motohama's "priced possessions" in one hand and handing them over to Kanae before I sit back down
"Here, take it, are you happy now?"
Kanae nods filled with energy
"Yay! Thanks Tatseyo, you're a life saver! I knew I made the right choice recruiting you!"
"Temporarily!"
I remind her, to which she nods
"Yeah, yeah, anyway..."
She leans closer and talks so only me and Ayumu can hear
"I think this can help with your popularity too"
She nudges her head and we look at the other students
(Eh, Tatseyo actually put a stop on the ecchi trio?)
(I-I guess he might not be that bad after all...)
(If someone like him is watching over us I might be able to feel safer)
They are speaking good things to each other about me!
"O-oh!"
I let out an expression of happiness! This is so good I could cry!
"Think about it"
Kanae says with a smirk before returning to her seat. Tempting me with the popularity I want so badly! Kanae might be human, but she sure knows how to play like a devil!
As I'm overjoyed by my slight rise in popularity, I feel again a tug on my shirt
"E-eh, Ayumu?"
I look and see my red headed friend pouting
"Cool Tachan is nice but... I don't think I like popular Tachan..."
"W-what? B-but you asked me to..."
Aghhhh! I really can't understand Ayumu right now!
After another half an hour, we reach Kyoto station
I help Ayumu with her luggage and we step outside the train
"Woah!"
"It's Kyoto! We're really here!"
"It's massive!"
Our trio of friends looks around the station in awe, Issei and the other members of the ORC are also happily chatting away amazed by Kyoto's magnificent train station
"Heh, makes you remember the first trips, don't you?"
I say to Ayumu, who nods with a smile of her own
"After travelling to so many cities it's hard to have the same amazement, but it's refreshing to see someone having it for the first time"
We watch as our friends take pictures of the station
"Hey, Tatseyo, Ayumu, come here!"
Kanae calls us as she takes her cellphone and gathers Eizo and Koji around her.
"Let's take a picture!"
The five of us stand together and Kanae takes a few pictures with us on them before looking satisfied at her phone
"Heh, they came up nice"
"Hey, send them over to me"
"Me as well!"
I smile seeing their excitment, untill a loud woman's cry takes the attention of everyone on the station
"Kyaaaaah! Pervert!"
A woman is running away from a guy who's making gropping gestures while calling "Oppai, Oppai" non stop.
"What the hell..."
I say
"They really seem to have a harassment issue here in Kyoto" - Kanae replies
However, as everyone is looking at the scene, something else calls my attention
An ominous energy flowing just at one of the corners of the station
A man wearing black clothes and sunglasses, standing in the shadow of a vending machine
I nudge Ayumu, who nods at me, she noticed it as well
"I'll take the opportunity to check the guy, if someone asks for me, you stall them, alright?"
"Okay, look, I think this is your chance"
A group of bystanders tackle the harasser to the ground and suddenly the guards come running to take him under arrest
As everyone is watching the commotion, I take my chance to quickly run up to the black clad man standing in the shadows.
I do it as fast as possible so get it over quickly, the man barely has a chance to react as I push him against the wall
"Ugh!" - He exclaims in pain
"Who are you?"
I whisper to him
But despite my menacing approach, the man puts his arms upwards
"I didn't came here to fight, I'm with the Hero Faction... my name is Connla, don't you remeber having helped me escape?"
I take a closer look at his face and indeed, he was with one of the guys I helped to get away that day.
I let him go and he places a hand inside his pockets, taking out a fancy looking envelope with a stamp on it.
"Cao Cao-sama asked me to deliver this as soon as you and your friend arrived, he said you are both invited to join us"
"Join you?"
I ask puzzled
He nods
"We have big plans, but Cao Cao-sama said he'll get in contact with you, please expect our call"
He says, handing me the envelope and slowly sinking into the shadows
"W-wait! Hold-"
But before I can stop him the man disappears into the shadows
I walk back to Ayumu, who has a concerned expression on her face
"Who was that?"
I show the envelope to her
"One of the guys from the Hero Faction, apparently their leader wants us to join them"
Her eyes wide and she seems impressed
"T-that's good, isn't it? I mean, it wasn't in our plans but it'll be easier than what we had in mind"
I nod
"Yes, but there's a problem... he knew about you"
When I say this, Ayumu freezes for a moment before realization hits her
"How...?"
I shake my head and look over the corner where the man named Connla was standing
"Well, there's only one way they could have know"
I furrow my eyebrows
"There's someone in the Esper Community working with them... someone big..."
"Do you think...?"
I shrug
"No idea, could be anyone from the high command, connected to them... or just someone really good at investigating. Anyway, they know we are here and they made the first move"
I take another look at the letter
"Now we gotta make ours"

Holy shit, I can see why you like this guy, if it wasn't for him, not only Albania would most likely not exist, but all of the balkans would probably be very different from what they are now. However...
I don't think such a great figure would fit in Liliana's father peerage, not only because I'm trying to put mostly obscure characters who people don't know a lot about, or just outright characters who historians aren't even sure if they were real, but also because he's a great catholic warrior. Putting someone like this in a devil's peerage I'd have to come up with a mighty excuse as to why he would choose to serve a devil for eternity.
BUT, I see that Skenderbeu is not only beloved by catholics, but he's also very beloved and respected in the muslim community for his service in the otoman empire and I could really work with that in an arc that I wanna do in the future, no spoilers...
I must really apologize for how guilible Tatseyo must have seem in the first chapters with Liliana, I have received complaints from other people about it and indeed I could have done a much better job at it. I really should have focused on the fact that Tatseyo was willing to believe Liliana mostly because she has espers working under her and he has a huge trust on espers, since he was raised by an entire Community of them and never had actual normal friends, so much so that he only stops putting up a fight after he confirms that Mayumi, Manaki, Galard and Diz are actual espers, but I didn't focus on that as much as I should have. I'll try my best to put this in the spotlight in the future like I have tried to do in the first part of this chapter, thanks for your criticism
As for Tatsumaki's power, you are also correct, Guest-Questioner also had talked to me about this before and indeed, I sometimes underestimate both her power and Mob's. However, I do know how both of them are now that I catched up with the manga and don't worry, all canon characters will be just as powerful as they are in canon
