Chapter 12
Arenthia - Morndas 19 of Sun's Height of 203 of the Fourth era
The rising sun was beginning to illuminate the imperial camp that was currently in the vicinity of the city of Arenthia. The city was a mix between the architectural designs of Imperials, Khajiitas and Bosmer. It had strong and high walls. And the only accesses to the city were by waterway through the Strid river and through the two stone bridges that allowed crossing from the shore to the interior of the city. And within this city was stationed half the second Aldmer army and a large garrison.
The leaders of the Imperial army were gathered in the command tent. The assembled army consisted of soldiers from the Fourth Legion, soldiers from Whiterun, Solitude, Markarth, Windhelm and members of the Bosmer rebellion.
"So, what news do we have about the city?" asked Captain Aldis.
Captain Aldis is the leader of the troops sent by Soledad. He is a black-haired Nord, he had a big bushy beard. He wore the typical armor of solitude soldiers, but instead of carrying a one-handed sword he carried a steel greatsword.
"We beat them two to one, but they are well equipped and have the advantage of fighting defensively." General Tulio answered. "That is why I recommend that we do not launch a frontal assault to take the city."
General Tulio is an Imperial of about fifty years of age. His hair is gray, he was clean-shaven and had a stern look on his face. He wore a lorica musculata with gold designs, bracers and reinforced leather boots.
"Besides that the only way to take the city is attacking by waterway or attacking the two bridges that connect the city." Tulio commented as he indicated those positions on the map that was on the table. "I must not say that this will cause us to lose many soldiers."
"So what should we do?" Jarl Igmund asked.
Igmund is the Jarl of the city of Markarth. He is a Nord about forty years old. He had short, light gray hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He wore steel plate armor, with a green surcoat bearing the heraldry of Markarth. On his hip he wore a steel sword.
"Besiege the city and wait for them to attack us outside the walls or to surrender." Jarl Balgruuf replied. "What do you think of this idea?"
Balgruuf is the Jarl of the city of Whiterun. He is a Nord man in his thirty's years, with blond hair and blue eyes, as well as wearing a large beard. He also wore steel plate armor, with a yellow surcoat bearing the Whiterun heraldry. On his back was sheathed his steel greatsword.
"It is the most sensible thing we can do in this situation." Jarl Brunwulf said.
Brunwulf is the Jarl of the city of Windhelm. He is a Nord man in his fifty's years, he had a bald head and a large beard. He wore steel scale armor, and on his hip was his steel sword.
"Can't you call General Edzard?" Amiridil asked.
Amiridil is the leader of the Bosmer rebellion that planned to take the city of Arenthia. She has the appearance of a typical Bosmer, that is, she was short in stature, had copper-colored skin and red eyes. Her hair was light brown, which was styled in a high ponytail. She wore full studded leather armor. On her back he carried a bow and a quiver with arrows dipped in poison, and on her hip two short swords.
"We can't, he is currently preparing to take the city of Falinestu." General Tulio answered.
"I see, so we are alone in this battle." Amiridil sighed disappointed. She hoped they could summon the young man who helped the Empire destroy one of the Dominion's main armies.
"Yes." Balgruuf replied.
"Then we must better fortify our position." Tulio commented, gaining the approval of the others.
While the meeting of the leaders of the Empire's army and the rebels was taking place, another meeting was taking place in the castle of the city of Arenthia. In the war room of the city castle were Lord Rulorn Highius, Lord Rulotar Elsinthar and Captain Anglor.
Rulorn Highius is the leader of the Aldmeri Dominion army in the region. He is an Altmer with golden skin, golden eyes and short jet-black hair and a small mustache. He wore full gold-colored plate armor.
Rulotar Elsinthar is the current lord of the city of Arenthia. He is a Bosmer with coppery skin, green eyes, and slicked-back reddish hair. He wore light armor made of chain mail with shoulder pads, greaves, and gauntlets of steel.
Captain Anglor is the leader of the city's garrison. He is a young Bosmer with coppery skin a shade paler than his relatives, blood red eyes, and white hair. He wore leather armor over chain mail.
"So, what movements have those humans made?" Rulorn asked as he drank a cup of wine.
"Nothing." Rulotar replied as he smiled. "They are just there, locked in their camp."
"My lords, how should we proceed?" Anglor asked, looking closely at the map.
"We will do nothing." Rulotar replied as he waved his hands in a dismissive gesture. "They cannot storm the fortress without taking great losses."
"What if with them is the one who destroyed Lord Tanorian's army?" Anglor asked. "What should we do then?"
"I don't think he's with them." Rulotar replied, rubbing his chin. "If they were here, they would have already attacked."
"So we will hold our position and await their attack." Rulorn said.
Both Rulotar and Anglor nodded. After that Anglor withdrew from the room and headed towards the barracks of the city.
Arenthia - Loredas 24 of Sun's Height of 203 of the Fourth era
The night was dark, the sky was moonless and completely covered by clouds. And while the soldiers of the domain were drinking in one of the many festivals that Rulotar celebrated, on the outskirts of the city the imperial troops were approaching stealthily. These troops did not carry any type of banner or torches. They were being led by the Bosmer rebels in the area.
The leaders of this army had been planning this for days. They had not been able to find a way to conquer the city without a great deal of loss to their forces. So they had decided to use a tactic similar to the one Edzard used in the battle for Fort Kastav. That is, they would infiltrate a small group of soldiers in the city so that they would open the doors and thus be able to enter the city quickly.
Several battle mages had been chosen, all of which had managed to infiltrate the city last night. Now they were killing the few soldiers guarding the gates. Once they did, they set out to open the gates of the city.
Tulio and Aldis approached the left bridge, while Balgruuf, Igmund and Brunwulf went to the right bridge. The Bosmer rebels were divided between the two forces. Fortunately, they did not have long to wait, for a few moments later the doors were opened. Beckoning, the attacking army began to enter as quietly as possible.
"General Tulio."
Tulio saw how a mage greeted him.
"I have new orders for you and the others."
"What orders General?"
"Take your companions and other mages, and set up a focal stone barrier and completely seal off any exit from the city garrison barracks."
"Yes, general."
The mage nodded and then began heading with his companions to find the other group of mages to convey the orders.
Tulio saw the mage leave quickly and sighed. That order had been a request from Amiridil. She had been asking that, if possible, the garrison of Bosmer soldiers in the city should not be attacked, nor that civilians be harmed. Shaking his head he cleared of any doubts he might have. Waving to his men he began to advance through the city. A few moments later they had finally reached the city castle.
The castle was a fortress with high walls about twenty meters high. Because they entered stealthily they did not have siege weapons, so their only way to enter was to break the door. Luckily before he sends his men to break down the door, the main body of the Nord army arrived.
"General Tulio." Balgruuf greeted.
"Jarl Balgruuf."
"What are the plans to enter the castle?"
"We will break the door with the ram and then we will go in and kill all the Aldmer who do not surrender."
"General, about my request?" Amridil asked concerned for her compatriots.
"I have already dispatched mages to place a containment barrier over the guard barracks."
Amiridil sighed and smiled, now she was calmer. She didn't want her countrymen to die in a war they didn't want to fight. The losses of the first great war were still present in the Bosmer people. This, unlike the Altmer, had not been able to repopulate their land so much. This is because, unlike the Altmer, they did not consume plant-type foods, therefore, their amounts of food were very scarce and that was reflected in the low population density that their people currently possessed.
However, before someone started a conversation, a large blue barrier appeared in the distance. This barrier seemed to be a great swirl of magic.
"It seems they already did." Tulio said looking at the barrier erected by the mages.
"Then we cannot be left behind." Balgruuf said walking until he was in front of the doors. In the end he stood about thirty meters from the gates.
"Balgruuf?" Igmund asked as he saw the Jarl of Whiterun start pulling something out of his bag.
Balgruuf simply smiled and took out a scroll. When he opened it, a large fireball the size of a house emerged from this scroll. This fireball headed towards the gate of the fortress. When it hit the gate, a great crash shook the castle and drew the attention of the guards who were in the barracks and in the castle itself.
Anglor was sleeping in his room in the city garrison barracks when he was awakened by a loud crash. He quickly got up and dressed in his armor. When he was outside his room he saw his men standing in the courtyard of the barracks.
"What's going on?" Anglor said when he saw that his men didn't even move. "Why don't they move?"
A soldier responded by pointing to the sky. When Anglor looked up, he was amazed when he saw a magical barrier above the barracks. Trying to get out and see what was happening in the city, he ran towards the gates and when he was about to pass them, the magic barrier sent him flying against a wall.
"I recommend that you do not do something as reckless as what you just did."
Anglor and his men turned and saw an Imperial mage standing on the outside of the barrier.
"What's going on?"
"The taking of the city has begun. The leader of the rebels has asked that they be isolated "
"Amiridil?"
The mage nodded.
Anglor was amazed. He hadn't heard from his former fiancée since the two of them had quarreled when the war started; however, a smile appeared on his face when he realized that she still cared for him. Turning, he saw his soldiers and saw them worried, as many had families in the city and feared that they would be harmed.
"What will happen to the civilians?"
"The general and the Nord leaders have ordered that no civilians be harmed."
All the Bosmer prisoners in the barracks let out the breath that they were unconsciously holding when they knew that their relatives would not be harmed.
Seeing his men calmer, Anglor ordered them to sit down and await the outcome of the battle.
"Balgruuf, what the fuck was that?" Igmund asked when he saw that the fireball had completely destroyed the castle gate.
"It's a spell scroll that I beat Edzard on a bet a few months ago."
Balgruuf's reply caused several to put their hands to their faces. Only someone like Edzard would bet a scroll with a spell this powerful.
"Just out of curiosity, what spell is it?" Amiridil asked a little scared by the power of the unleashed spell.
"Well ... Edzard said it was a spell called a forbidden sun or something like that." Balgruuf replied without giving too much importance to the name of the spell. "I think we better save the interrogation for later."
Everyone present nodded.
"Kill all Aldmer who resist, but leave alive those who surrender!" Tulio ordered.
All the soldiers nodded and began to enter the castle.
The once silent castle was now filled with the sound of fighting. The Aldmer tried to defend themselves when they saw the legionnaires enter, but they were so drunk they could barely stand. The legionaries put to the sword all the Aldmer who did not surrender, and those who surrendered were taken as prisoners. By the time they reached the great hall, several Aldmer corpses were scattered throughout the palace.
All the leaders of the imperial army were with their men outside the great hall of the castle. Before they entered, Amiridil gave orders to his men.
"Go up the stairs and go to the balconies."
However, before the Bosmer soldiers carried out the orders, General Tulio gave orders to his legionaries.
"You, join them and help them win the position."
The designated legionaries nodded and departed with the Bosmer soldiers.
"Very well, bring the battering ram."
The legionaries approached with a battering ram. Once they were positioned on the door, they started pounding on it hard. When the doors were opened some legionaries ran into the hall, only to be killed by a volley of arrows.
"Testudo formation, now!" Tulio ordered.
The legionaries closed their shields and entered the turtle formation. This formation allowed them to enter without taking casualties. Once the legionaries entered they quickly formed into a line four people thick.
Tulio and the Jarls along with Amiridil entered the room. There they could see Rulotar and Rulorn, who were behind a few hundred Aldmer soldiers.
"Rulotar, Rulorn! Surrender and you will be allowed to live!" yelled Tulio. "Advance and you will die!"
"Shut up you fucking human!" Rulotar replied.
"Proud Aldmer, kill those scum!" Rulorn ordered.
The Aldmer soldiers began to advance, but when they took a few steps they began to die. From the balconies, Amiridil's Bosmer archers rained arrows on the Aldmer troops.
"Legionnaires, charge!"
The legionnaires ran and threw their spears, which killed several of the Aldmer soldiers present. After that, the legionnaires charged and in less than an hour all the Aldmer's were dead. The two lords were killed by Bosmer arrows.
By daybreak, the city was already in the hands of the Empire.
Falinesti - Middas 18 of Last Seed of 203 of the Fourth era
Edzard was in a meeting with the leaders of the army that was preparing to attack the city of Falinesti. The city of Falinesti was the capital of the kingdom of Valenwood. It was a city built on a great tree.
"So, how do we attack?" Thorianion asked.
Thorianion is the leader of the rebels in the area, but in addition to that, he is also a distant relative of the dynasty that previously ruled in Valenwood. He is a Bosmer with coppery skin, reddish hair, which he wears in a high braid, he also has a neatly trimmed beard. He wears full steel plate armor.
"We cannot attack with catapults or any type of attack that uses fire." Darryn replied.
"Then we cannot use General Edzard's dragon." Rodyn commented.
Rodyn is the captain of the High Rock troops who had accompanied the legion. He is a Breton with a slim body. He has long black hair with two braids on the sides. He wears brigantine armor with chainmail underneath, dark leather pants, boots, and bracers of reinforced leather.
"No, unless they want the city burned to ashes." Edzard commented with blank eyes. "Why did they build their capital on a bloody giant tree?"
"That city has been built since the beginning of the first era." Thorianion replied with a large drop on his forehead.
"Good, then we must starve them." Darryn commented, pointing to various points on the map. "We can station our troops to cut their supply lines."
"I do not believe it." Edzard answered thoughtfully as he cupped his chin in one hand. "If you realize it, the ground to cover is very wide."
"General Edzard is right. If we leave our troops so far apart, they will not be able to support each other in case they are attacked. " Thorianion replied. "What other idea do we have?"
"We can't storm the city, we don't have the numbers." Edzard commented. "We have no other option, we have to take them out to fight in the open field."
"That is the only way to be victorious." Darryn spoke. "But how do we get them out of the city? And, where would we fight?"
"The best way would be to starve them until they decide to go out to break the siege." Hadvar spoke as he took the tokens representing the imperial army and moved them onto the roads. "
"It's like we said before, we don't have enough men for that course of action," Edzard said, putting the chips back where they were before.
"It seems we are at a dead end." Darryn commented.
"There is another way to force them out without cutting the supply lines." Edzard said with a smile. "Thorianion, where are the food warehouses in the city?"
Hearing it, Thorianion's eyes widened in surprise, but a small smile began to form on his lips and then he pointed to a point on the map of the city.
Nodding, Edzard turned to the other leaders and spoke. "We will retreat to a terrain that is favorable to us for battle."
"You plan to do?" Hadvar asked with a smile.
"I will force them to leave that city." Edzard replied, getting out of the tent.
While the imperial army withdrew from the area near the city. In the great hall of the palace, where the throne was located, the general of the Aldmer troops and the current regent of the Valenwood province were gathered.
"So, the Imperials retreat?" Draulduin asked.
Draulduin is the current King of Valenwood. He is a Bosmer of Copper skin, but of a darker shade than his compatriots of his, he has a bald head. He wears a carmine colored tunic, black pants, both garments are made of silk. He wears leather boots with silver buckles and on his shoulders a dark green cape made of silk and embroidered in gold threads.
"Yes." Envaril replied.
Envaril is the leader of the Aldmer army stationed in the city. He is a thick-built Altmer with long golden hair, but the greatest feature of him was the large scar that ran diagonally across his face. He wears silver plate armor with gold accents.
"Do we know the reason for his departure? "
"No, but it is good news. Without them here we can plan how to recover the lost cities." Envaril replied as he began to think about how to reclaim the city of Arenthia.
"Wouldn't it be better to hunt them down?" Draulduin commented. "You know, to prevent them from joining the Arenthia army."
"Maybe you are right." Envaril rubbed his chin. "What do our scouts say about their numbers?"
"They are outnumbered."
"For what amount?"
"We surpassed them by almost two thousand soldiers." Draulduin replied with a smile on his face.
"I see, then ..."
Envaril's words were silenced by a great noise that shook the city.
Quickly they both went to the windows. From where they could see how a cloud of smoke rose in the distance.
"Draulduin, what buildings are there?" Envaril asked, pointing to the place where the smoke was coming from.
"The food warehouses!" Draulduin screamed in panic as he saw the buildings where the city's food was stored.
They quickly ordered a review to be carried out to find out how many supplies they had. When the results were brought to them, they were both concerned.
"How much food do we have left?" asked a concerned Draulduin.
"We only have provisions for about two weeks at the most. And that's only if we do extreme food rationing. "
"How long will it take for supplies to arrive from Alinor?" Draulduin asked looking at Envaril.
"We cannot receive supplies, the main ports in the area are blocked by the imperial navy." the annoyance was clear in Envaril's voice. "In addition to the fact that that same navy has made a strong blockade on the high seas."
"What do we do now?"
"We must finish off those Imperials and take their supplies." Envaril replied resignedly. "It seems that we will have to fight in the open field."
"Tell the soldiers that we will leave immediately." Envaril ordered a soldier, receiving a nod in response.
Draulduin nodded, understanding the reasoning for this course of action. They could not go to conquer any city under imperial or rebel control, since if they did they would be defenseless to an attack from the rear. So they had to finish off the retreating Imperials first and then they could fight the other armies.
Malabal Tor - Fredas 20 of Last Seed of 203 of the Fourth era
The sun was shining on the broken coastline, which is located in the westernmost region of Malabal Tor. The army made up of the Imperial Legion, the Bretons and the Bosmer rebels had retreated to these shores to gain a tactical advantage. The coastline was rocky and unlike the vicinity of Falinesti, which was surrounded by trees, here they were in open country with no trees in sight.
In the middle of the beach with the sea behind them was the imperial army and in front of them in the distance was approaching the army of the Aldmeri Dominion.
The Imperial forces had formed as widely as possible in order to avoid being locked in by the numerical superiority Aldmer. In the center were the heavily armored legionnaires led by Edzard. Behind the legionnaires were the Imperial archers and battle mages. The Imperial cavalry was on both flanks, the right flank was led by General Darryn and the left flank was being led by Hadvar. On the left flank were the High Rock troops led by Captain Rodyn and between the Imperial cavalry troops and the legionnaires were the Bosmer warriors led by Thorianion.
The Thalmor marched in a similar formation. At the front were the Dominion's heavy infantry, behind them were the Bosmer soldiers along with the Aldmer mages, and on their flanks the Elven heavy cavalry. Draulduin and Envaril were in the rear with their own bodyguards.
Edzard looked to his sides and saw his comrades-in-arms. He stood out among all, because unlike them he did not wear the heavy imperial armor, but he wore his lorica musculata with his helmet on. In his right hand was her dragon bone sword and in his left his greatsword.
'I don't have time for stupid things, I must start attacking with everything.' Edzard thought as he tightened his grip on his swords as he accessed the power that the wolf blood gave him in his body. As he mentally prepared for battle, he began to recall the strategic meeting they had to plan the battle.
Flashback
"I will lead the vanguard." Edzard said as he took the piece on the map that represented the vanguard of the army.
"Why?" Thorianion asked.
"The Aldmer's fight in phalanx formation." Edzard replied, looking everyone present in the eye. "In that formation they are resistant, but if the formation breaks they are easy prey."
"Imperial archers and mages will attack from behind the infantry." Darryn said, earning a nod from those present. "I will lead half the cavalry, which will be on the right flank. Hadvar you will lead the other half on the left flank."
Hadvar nodded.
"And what will we do?" Thorianion asked.
"They will be on the right flank between the cavalry and the infantry." Darryn replied.
"What will we do during the fight?"
"They will give cover fire to the cavalry."
"Breton troops will go on the Left flank." Edzard said pointing to the map. "You must wait until the infantry is already in combat and then try to outflank the enemy troops."
Rodyn nodded. And so they spent a while thinking about the strategy.
End of Flashback
Edzard sighed and shook his head to clear any remaining doubts in his mind. Focusing his gaze ahead, he saw the Aldmer troops approaching.
"Go forward!"
The soldiers began to advance when they heard the order that Edzard had given. Their pace was slow, as they did not want to reach the range of enemy projectile´s without the support of their own projectile's troops.
When they had advanced about two hundred meters, Edzard watched as the Aldmer archers prepared to launch a volley of arrows.
"High! Shields up!" Edzard ordered as he created a protective barrier over himself with magic.
The legionaries halted their advance and raised their shields, beginning to parry the Aldmer arrows.
'Closer.' Edzard thought as he watched the enemy soldier's approach.
"Archers! Shoot at will!" Edzard listened to the order of the leader of the archers.
The Imperial archers fired volleys of arrows. Arrows flew over the Imperial infantry and began to rain down on the Aldmer. Which began to receive the arrows, but having heavy armor the arrows bounced at the moment of impact; however, there were some arrows that hit the most vulnerable parts of the armor, thus causing some casualties.
The Imperial archers fired volleys of arrows. The arrows flew over the Imperial infantry and began to fall on the Aldmer infantry, but since they were heavily armored the arrows bounced when hit; however, there were some arrows that hit the most vulnerable parts of the armor, thus causing some casualties.
The Aldmer troops continued to advance as if nothing had happened, their losses had been minuscule.
Turning his gaze towards the enemy, Edzard continued to wait for the right moment.
"Infantry! Charge!" Edzard ordered when he saw the infantry Aldmer was about fifty meters away.
The legionary infantry charged against the enemy troops, which halted their advance and further closed the phalanx formation awaiting impact.
Before the legionnaires collided with the Aldmer infantry, the Imperial mages began hurling fireballs. Which caused several casualties to the Aldmer troops.
The Aldmer were not far behind and began to shoot arrows and fireballs at the legionnaires. This, of course, caused casualties in the Imperial troops, but even so the legionnaires did not stop their charge.
When both armies were within meters of colliding, Edzard began to outrun his soldiers. Going forward, he shouted. "FUS! RO! DAH!"
The scream sent the soldiers in front of him flying, thus breaking the enemy phalanx formation. The Imperial soldiers hit the Aldmer infantry, which at the time was disorganized and confused by what had just happened. Steel blows began to echo as the Imperial infantry began to force the Aldmer infantry back.
While Edzard was he was slowly advancing towards his enemies. on the left flank, Hadvar was on his horse looking out at the battlefield. He had been ordered to keep his left flank safe and that was what he was going to do.
'Hah, what a mess. It should be Edzard who is here.' Hadvar thought as he sighed. This is because he was good at fighting on foot, but he was not that good at fighting on horseback. Edzard on the part of him was good at fighting both on foot and on horseback.
"But there is no time for doubts."
Once he thought that, he turned his gaze to his men. Along with him were half the imperial cavalry. About seven hundred horsemen, dressed in full dark gray plate armor. They carried a round shield, a long sword, and a spear.
Hadvar tightened his horse's reins as he watched the Aldmer shoot arrows at his infantry. He was more concerned for his soldiers than for Edzard, as his friend would easily come out of this battle literally unscathed; however, his troops would not be so lucky.
"Centurion."
Hadvar turned when he heard his soldier call out to him, when he saw him, he saw that he was pointing ahead. Following his finger, he saw the Aldmer cavalry begin to advance slowly.
"Advance slowly and while you do, go closing the formation!"
The Imperial horsemen heeded the order and slowly began to advance. As they did so, they closed the formation. By the time they advanced two hundred meters, they had formed into seven lines of one hundred men each. The horsemen were as close together as possible, almost to the point that the soldiers could be injured by the friction between their armor.
Hadvar tightened his grip on his sword, and waited until all hell broke loose. And as if it were a divine sign, Edzard's shout started the battle.
"Charge!" Hadvar yelled as he pointed his sword forward and spurred his horse.
The horsemen obeyed and charged alongside their leader. The Aldmer's were also not far behind and also charged.
Like Hadvar on the left flank, Darryn had made his troops close formation as they advanced slowly. They had charged in three lines of about two hundred-odd horsemen each. This they did to have a greater line of combat to be able to envelop the Aldmer horsemen.
For their part, the Aldmer's had formed their troops in four ranks of about a hundred and fifty horsemen each. That allowed them to have a greater depth of attack and striking force.
The clash of both cavalries was brutal, since several horsemen were sent to fly when the lance of their enemy hit their armor. After this charge, both cavalries had put their spears aside and taken their swords to begin attacking each other. Steel began to clatter as soldiers on both sides lunged again and again.
Fortunately for Darryn, while the cavalry battle was taking place, Thorianion managed to skirt the right flank with a small force of archers, which he ordered to start attacking. And so the Bosmer began to send volleys of arrows toward the rear of the Aldmer cavalry. This action took the Aldmer's by surprise and forced them to try to retreat to avoid losing more troops; however, the imperial cavalry did not allow them to escape.
In the rear of the Aldmer troops, everything was in chaos. This is because the Imperials were fighting more than expected.
"Archers keep shooting!" Draulduin yelled at his archers.
The Bosmer archers continued to shoot arrows at the legionary infantry.
As he continued to view the battlefield, Envaril's order was heard.
"Mages! Shoot out fireballs!"
Fireballs began to rain down on the imperial army. The screams of the Imperial soldiers burning alive and the stench of burning flesh was beginning to fill the battlefield.
Draulduin started to smile when he saw that. The mages were causing many casualties in the army of the Empire, this was because they had more magicians than the imperial ones. The Imperial Mages were very busy trying to both attack and reduce the damage of the spells that the Aldmer Mages cast at the Legionnaire infantry. But since they were relatively few in number, they couldn't do both jobs very well. Which was not the case on the Aldmer side, where most of the Altmer projectiles troops were mages, while the Bosmer were archers.
Draulduin saw how the Breton troops began to approach, so he decided to divide his forces. He sent a considerable number of archers to slow down the Breton knights. These were on foot and were dressed in chainmail armor, steel bracers, leather pants and boots. They wore surcoats from the cities they came from. Their weapons were a one-handed sword, plus they did not carry shields, so they had the other hand free.
Bosmer arrows began to rain down on the Bretons, causing several casualties. This was because the arrows had taken the Breton troops by surprise, so they were unable to create barriers to block the projectiles.
Edzard was in the center of the battlefield advancing and killing all the Aldmer soldiers he encountered. He had driven his sword into the chest of an Aldmer soldier when he heard the screams of his soldiers. Seeing that his men were burned alive, he decided to pay the Aldmer's with the same coin.
"YOL! TOOR! SHUL! " Edzard shouted, this summoned flames from his mouth, thus burning several Aldmer soldiers in front of him.
After that, he charged again against the Aldmer troops that were in front of him. He stabbed an Aldmer soldier with his one-handed sword while he sliced another in half with his greatsword. Looking up, he could see that the Breton troops were receiving continuous fire from the enemy Bosmer archers and that thanks to that they would not be able to hold the flank for long.
'Damn it, the Bretons won't last long like this, I must do something quick.' he thought as he stabbed his sword into an Aldmer's chest.
'Good thing I chose this terrain for the battle.' Edzard thought, then looked up at the sky and shouted.
"¡STRUN! ¡BAH! ¡QO!"
When the scream was heard, the clear sky was replaced by a dark sky filled with clouds and strong winds. When it started to rain, all the soldiers stopped the battle for a second and at that moment thunder began to sound. And when no one expected it, lightning began to strike the Aldmer troops, thus causing heavy casualties in the elf army.
Edzard had chosen this terrain for good reason, and that was that if he used this Thu'um the ground would not get muddy. Which would allow the cavalry and infantry to fight without many additional complications.
The archers on both sides began to be unable to fire, as the strings of the bows got wet, hindering their use. Mages could no longer use fire magic, as the rain extinguished the fireballs and they could not use lightning because they attracted lightning that fell from the clouds.
Edzard smiled at that, for unlike the Aldmer, the Imperial archers were also light infantry, so they charged the Aldmer soldiers. And his mages could also use frost magic, magic that many Aldmer did not use.
Rodyn seeing that the enemy Bosmer could no longer attack began to advance with his soldiers to take over the enemy right flank. When his troops charged they did so with such fury that the Bosmer could not withstand the onslaught and began to take heavy losses.
On the other flank, the rain had caused the Bosmer who supported the empire to also go to fight as infantry. While the Imperial cavalry had managed to greatly reduce the numbers of the Aldmer cavalry. The left flank cavalry had also gained ground and forced the Aldmer cavalry to withdraw from the battlefield.
As Edzard prepared to advance, he watched as Thorianion's troops charged from the right flank, managing to take the Aldmer vanguard by surprise, which began to take heavy losses.
Seeing that, Edzard began to advance with more force, managing to completely break through the infantry lines. He finally came face to face with the Aldmer archers and mages. Which upon seeing him threw themselves against him.
Edzard wanted to pounce on them quickly, but he knew he would need more power for that.
"MUL!" Edzard shouted, and as he did so, black scales began to form on his body.
Receiving a huge increase in strength and speed upon accessing the power afforded by the dragon aspect's first word of power, he rushed forward and began to cause a massacre killing every Aldmer soldier in sight. He mutilated and decapitated all enemies who came into his field of vision. As he advanced with bloody fury, Edzard did not know where he was, until finally he realized that he had advanced until he was in front of the two enemy leaders.
"But what do we have here?" Edzard commented as he advanced.
"Attack!" Draulduin ordered his bodyguard. who quickly attacked Edzard. however, they did not get too far, as they all fell dead quickly thanks to lightning that fell from the sky.
"Okay, what's next?" Edzard asked sarcastically.
Envaril was watching Edzard very carefully. He looked very well at his face, for he felt that he had seen it before.
"Hey, sorry man, but I don't like my same sex." Edzard said with a grimace when he saw how the Altmer was looking at him intensely.
Envaril began to get angry at what Edzard said. He took a good look at him until at last he remembered why he was becoming known to him.
In front of him was the young man who was considered the greatest asset of the empire. The last dragonborn was in front of him.
"You made a mistake coming here boy." Envaril said.
"What are you talking about?"
Envaril did not reply and just jumped off his horse. Once he touched the ground, a blood-red rune began to form at his feet.
Edzard raised an eyebrow, not understanding what was happening, but he quickly jumped back when his nose caught a peculiar smell. The smell of the blood magic.
Edzard watched in surprise as several red tendrils began to emerge from the elf's rune. These tendrils began to attack the soldiers who were in the vicinity. Even Draulduin himself had been struck by the spell of his ally.
"What the fuck are you doing?" Edzard asked as he watched as the bodies began to dry until they turned to dust.
By the time the spell ended, the elf would have killed more than a hundred of his allies. The elf himself had changed, his body was now slightly more muscular and his magic levels had increased.
"Prepare to die human scum." Envaril growled as he summoned a conjured sword.
Edzard simply took a defensive position. And he waited for the elf to attack him. And the truth is, he didn't have to wait long.
Envaril pounced on Edzard quickly trying to overwhelm him with his newfound physical strength. Unfortunately for him, Edzard was stronger than him. Each blow was blocked by Edzard's sword, which didn't even budge from its place. Increasingly angry, Envaril cast a lightning spell against Edzard, a spell that was easily dodged by Edzard. Envaril then decided to continue attacking with other spells, such as conjured familiars, ice stakes, and more. All spells ended the same way, failing.
"You know, there are very few things that I hate, but what I do really hate are the traitors who stab their comrades in arms." Edzard said as he walked over to where Envaril was standing. Once he was close enough he shouted.
"¡FUS! ¡RO! ¡DAH!"
Edzard's shout sent the elf flying, which ended up crashing to the ground several meters from where it was initially.
When Envaril tried to get up he could not, as several ice spears embedded themselves in his limbs. Looking up he could see Edzard, who was walking slowly towards him. So, he quickly used magic to remove the stakes and with one great leap he got to his feet and charged Edzard again.
Edzard saw the elf running towards him. He waited until the elf raised his sword to make his own move.
"WULD!" Edzard's shout allowed him to advance quickly towards the elf.
Taking him by the face, Edzard picked him up and threw him hard. The elf ended up crashing to the ground about twenty meters from where Edzard was.
When Envaril got up he saw how around him appeared three small portals. He did not give them importance until he saw how from each of the portals a blast of ice came out, a blaze of fire and finally a lightning bolt. Which on impact did not do much damage, as he had gained a lot of magic resistance when he absorbed the magic and life force of his companions.
Edzard saw a little astonished how the spell known as apocalypse was not working on the elf, sighing he decided to end this quickly. He sheathed his one-handed sword and took his greatsword with both hands.
"SU!" Edzard's shout caused his greatsword to be covered in the power of the wind.
"¡WULD!"
Edzard appeared in front of Envaril and using all his strength along with the added power that he had from moving at high speed, he beheaded him with his greatsword.
Seeing their leaders killed, the Aldmer and Bosmer soldiers lost their morale and began to flee the battlefield.
By the time Edzard's storm ended, the field was littered with corpses of both Imperials and Aldmer's. In the end, the casualty count was four thousand nine hundred dead and wounded for the Imperial side and eight thousand dead and wounded for the Aldmer side.
This battle gave a new nickname to Edzard, who had caused more than four thousand enemy casualties alone, the imperial soldiers now called him «the bloody dragon», because despite the rain, Edzard was still completely covered in elven blood.
After the battle, the imperial army marched to the city of Falinesti to occupy it. Days after the battle, the coronation of Thorianion as the new monarch of Valenwood would take place.

"Is this information reliable?" a male voice asked.
"Yes, we have confirmed it." a female voice answered through a magical projection.
"So that's where they are?"
"So is." the projection responded. "What are the orders?"
"Kill the two girls"
The figure in the projection nodded before disappearing.
"This war will very soon open the way to my greatest ambition and you will lose everything that matters to you, little son of Akatosh."
